  • In this video, we'll be discussing if Wendy's stole Uber's surge pricing model. The fast food chain plans to implement what they're calling "dynamic pricing" in 2025, and it sure sounds a lot like what Uber does... This video analyzes the similarities and differences between the two companies payment models and discusses if this move by Wendy's is ethical, or just a money grab.

    To clarify:
    Yes, the company tried to walk this back a bit, but comments from them included things like "for burgers," "during busy times" & "Prices could also go down." This isn't them saying they won't be testing this, it's just a PR response to bad press. Still sounds like they're planning on doing it.

    Wendy's did a big pull back on this and said they are not going to raise prices on us now. They had a huge backlash on social media when they announced this and are changing their tune now. There is other food places like pizza places doing this. Pure greed and price gouging has gotten really out of hand. Thank God we have social media to fight back, hope you're having a great day today!

      @@charlesclaridy8646 I mean, they are nowhere near the taste they had many years ago. They made a lot of changes. And now to try to get more money for a crappier product, I've tapped out. I did the same with Burger King. Burger King now charges almost 5 guys prices for a burger. So if I want to get a burger, I will just go to 5 guys and get a quality burger for that quality price. They work as a discount fast food burger place, but once they don't DISCOUNT, you are better off with other options.

      Its unfortunate, because there are already people who are going to stop going to all wendys (whether they are private franchises or some of these actual 400 stores). They could have announced this as more of happy hour items where customers could get a good deal on certain items during peak times or something. but this is a horrible time to strategically price gouge your regular customers....

    5:33. Yes, prices do always trend up because of monetary policy. The Federal Reserve thinks we need a little inflation every year. They literally got that idea and the 2% inflation target from the central bank of New Zealand. And they pulled that 2% number out of their behinds; it's nonsense. We could have slight deflation every year

    Uber's dynamic pricing is a necessary evil for riders. Imagine being stuck for hours as a young lady lade night outside of a bar or club waiting for a cheap ride because there aren't enough drivers willing to lose sleep to drive late nights and risk having drunkards vomit in their cars. Surge pricing ensures that the drivers know where the high demand is and makes them willing to drive cross county to get to those areas because it will pay more. Plus they'll be willing to drive late and take drunkards and be stuck in surge traffic for the surge pricing as well. Airlines have dynamic pricing that fluctuates almost as quickly as Uber and Lyfts pricing. An airline ticket can go up and down within the same day, not just high on Sunday and then low on Monday.

  • @abprepboy33
    @abprepboy33 7 месяцев назад

    2:16 you said it. This isnt the same as Uber using surge pricing. Uber is a company that relies on contractors that dont have any obligation to work specific hours for uber. If Uber is going to motivate more drivers to come- the most efficient way to do that is pay them more money.
    Wendys is doing this for pure greed. And they are choosing to squeeze their regular customers more...in the worst economic environment in the last 15 years. Its strategic price gouging, with no real upside for customers.

    This is why we pay to check-in our luggage on flights. American Airlines did it first and the public didn’t balk, so the other airlines quickly followed suit. Except for Southwest, of course. Kudos to them.

    If Wendy’s did that it would be dumb and people would stop going but they could do it and if they decide to then the consumer can simply stop going and then we wouldn’t see this again. A better way to do it is to increase prices overall and then have 25% off Tuesdays. Doing that is better for the business

  • @robbiedoggett1857

    This is why i dont buy stuff unless its on sale or have a coupon for it. If its the regular price i can do without most things. Others should do the same . stop paying full price for anything and if everyone did the same thing they would be forced to sell things cheaper . But people continue to be foolish and keep paying the price increases

  • @Wisdom4life1
    @Wisdom4life1 7 месяцев назад

    To eliminate dynamic pricing, Uber and Lyft would have to get rid of the independent contractor model and employ drivers instead. That way, they could set schedules to determine how many drivers will drive when and where to always have sufficient drivers on the roads. Uber and Lyft don't want drivers to be employees because it will cost them a lot to give drivers benefits.

    I actually like this idea because because, during peak times when I'm trying to pick up food orders they won't be as crushed busy, it's to dissuade people from overwhelming them so it can run someone's gotta try. It means we'll be the third biggest burgerchin. They're well overdue for that fake stuff to digital anyway. Even a lot of Burger King's have them now. Also, it will try to push people to download their app to put orders in ahead of time vs a line being even more efficient. We all know Wendy's is the slowest nationwide of the burger chains maybe beside dairy queen. I'm 110% onboard I order deals off the appropriate restaurants app as I'm out to say 'I'm here' to get ahead of the cue anyways so I can eat and keep working.

  • @adotintheshark4848

    With a digital menu, a Wendy's double could be $7 at 11am then go up to $8 at 12pm, then drop back to $7 by 2pm. Do you think if those doubles are delivered, the driver's pay will be any different? Doubtful. Door Dash or Uber will no doubt charge the customer more when the burger price goes up, that's all. Also, the rise in gas prices is going to mean the potential for more deliveries, also more un-tipped ones.

    Although we all make a living working in the gig economy via food delivery apps, when you look at the bigger picture mainly Uber did nothing beneficial for this country, they manipulate numbers, treat drivers like crap, promotes major laziness to customers at the expense of drivers, and set greedy trends/ideas like what this video is about. Both rideshare and eats is a big rip off. In my opinion food delivery should be a luxury service, a customer who owns a vehicle can sit home and order whatever they want and all the driver gets is $2 and maybe a tip... Is this really worth it? Customers should be conscious of this, but uber promotes being unconscious thinking and laziness. This Trend should and will be stopped, Wendy's should be ripped apart if they actually do surge pricing.
