NOTE: To anyone feeling this more in their legs rather than their core, take this as a note. Both the rectus femoris (a quad muscle) and lower abdominals flex the leg at the hip. when you do these, put your hands on your lower abdominals and mentally focus on the muscles under your hands flexing and the muscles in your legs relaxing. If you still feel your legs engaging instead, than it means your lower abdominals are a weak. Just do an easier variation of this exercise or do other lower abdominal exercises till you build up your strength to do these properly. It is a very common compensating move. Just remember that multiple muscles can do the same move and with your focus on which muscle you want engaged, you can strengthen what you aim to.

Aislan Unknown if you feel your neck straining then you're not doing the work out properly, you need to make sure your lifting with your shoulders and not your neck. If it helps put your hands underneath your head to rest your head on so it doesn't hurt your neck but you need to lift with your core and your shoulders.
This for me is more like a 20 minute workout instead of 8 because of how much I pause to catch my breath!! Oh em gee Kel, you're a ninja for not stopping and talking the whole time through too!!
I have just started tonight I need to loose about 65 pounds my doctor is on me so following you I'll be sure to get it in being a mom I have more then an hour when kids are in bed to work this out. Thank you so much for your videos

I come across your workouts on Pinterest so I got on RUclips to look at them and give them a go...I started today just to see how I could do and there are some things I couldn't do but my body has been through a lot I just had a baby 8 weeks ago so all of my muscles are weak and not used to working out...its been awhile! The crunches are hard for me to do it's hard to get up and down as quickly as you do and I was wondering if there might be an easier way to do them? I don't want to sound like a slacker but it's just going to take some getting used to considering my situation.

Yeah I am due to go down for the holidays until school starts back up in January. Its pretty cheap to live down there, you can get fairly cheap flights also, particularly from Miami. I'm hoping to get into a field school or something in the winter, but I am thinking that may not happen, I'd really like to stay down there all winter.

Hey, what am I doing wrong with this workout? When I do the exercises that involve the legs, my legs pop right at the joints where they're attached to my torso. Does anyone else have this problem? Hey, Jemma! That just means your conditioning will increase from here out and your lower lumbar area will no longer rise off the floor as you become stronger. Stay consistent and over the next few weeks I'd bet you'll be feeling a significant difference.
Jemma Restell Me too! It just naturally arches. It's really annoying, and I can only keep my back flat if I go into a certain position, but I can't do workout's like that.

Worked out for 1.5hrs yesturday, and 1hr today this was in there both times, love it, it works all the ab muscles and i like all the exercises!!!

It really is totally dependent on the individual. I use a Polar watch to track my estimated caloric burn.
