  • @Anothermachine
    @Anothermachine 2 месяца назад +81

    @Armored MMA ....I am enjoying the show but can you put a set of battle rules on your home page and a description? Possibly what strikes are legal or illegal? How to score points....are their weight classes? Where is the roster and standings....is it a tournament or death match? What types of weapons and armor are legal? I can really appreciate this as a battle sport but with no rules or description we have no real way to judge who is winning. I would even suggest this channel to others if it was a little more interactive with its viewers online❤ oh p.s. the audio is rough so maybe some names on screen so i can root for a hero😊

    • @armoredmma
      @armoredmma  2 месяца назад +39

    • @greazypozer
      @greazypozer Месяц назад +2

      @petrpumpkineater if it is that's a dumb rule, hema fights use thrusts all the time and if anything they're wearing less armor than these guys, the points just need to be dulled, capped, or taken off so it's safe, no head thrusts would be a good rule

    • @armoredmma
      @armoredmma  2 месяца назад +20

      @kazuto8726 thank you, it happens. Lots of people have never done combat sports so they have their own opinions. Or they haven't done steal combat and don't understand the risks. Or they have done a safer version of steal combat and think they know better. But it really just boils down to the fact people are more likely to complain than to compliment. So thank you for just being nice and saying something nice. The fighters love this sport and we want to make it something special for them and the fans. Thanks again

      This is dumb jujitsu would obviously be so incredibly effective as the weight would make anyone on the bottom and lack of grip even more vulnerable to people getting top control that armor doesn’t defend from takedowns or from big joint locks.
      For anyone who doesn’t know this is a very old sport in the scheme of things and has been going on in Europe for two decades. And the European stuff is wayyy more violent.

    • @dorjedriftwood2731
      @dorjedriftwood2731 2 месяца назад +1

      Absolutely baffled by the first decision axe guy destroyed spear guy. It would be much better to have highly padded weapons with a tough wood or composite base where you can do legitimate damage to people and see peoples injuries and the impact of attacks then to have people so armored they can use real weapons but no d,age gets done. I ran an amateur sword fighting team in Arizona in 2001 and we had helmets gloves just for eye and small joint protection but everything else was so painful that our abilities to parry and block became highly effective and exciting I once had a fifteen minute match sword versus sword where neither us landed a hit it was like movie level choreography because when you genuinely are not willing to be hit you learn how to keep from getting hit.
      This a,pint of armor causes people to willingly take hits because they know it won’t really hurt. Which is absolutely unrealistic because in this situation an actual knight would be using a mace, war hammer, half swording or more likely than anything a randol dagger which was designed to go under armor plates and cut an opponents vital areas. Though using a warhammer which would crush the helmet was also a popular choice. Knights didn’t just beat on eachother that would get both parties killed because they would be stabbed in the back or, set on fire or something awful by other soldiers surrounding them in battle an armored fighter would not just engage with armor. He would get the job done fast with a specialized tool.

    • @dorjedriftwood2731
      @dorjedriftwood2731 2 месяца назад +1

      Also you wouldn’t be using a sword a shield independent of eachother you put the sword out front and then throw strikes from behind it. It’s just painful to watch untrained people who spent no money in training and hundred thousand dollars in armor. It’s just a mess.

      @@Shaneofthefuturevery suboptimal, actually, since the rules for HEMA usually explicitly include “no stabbing or thrusting“, so the spearman’s better off with a slashing polearm like a poleaxe or a bardiche, or maybe even a quarterstaff (is that even allowed? )

      it seems like there's one kind of match featuring two handed weapons and all others feature a one handed sword and shield with the choice of either a bulky mid sized rectangular shield or a small circular buckler, more choice and more kinds of matches would definitely be interesting, id really like to see something featuring a light greatsword, i think bludgeons are always gonna be illegal though because of the danger they put the opponent in, you cant really dull the edge of a mace

    • @sveinn-the-jolly
      @sveinn-the-jolly Месяц назад +3

      @randallross420 Typically fighters agree to a matched weapon pairing. In exhibition matches, we do allow mixed weapon pairing, but typically at the pro-fight level it will be same type pairing. Different pairing matches you could see include; Mace/Hatchet & Buckler, Sword/Falchion & Shield, Long Axe, and the less common Longsword and Grand Sword/Falchion. Sword/Falchion & Shield matches, fighters can chose to use something as small as a buckler. There are shield size restrictions in the sense that there is a limit to how far forward a shield can be mounted from your fist, and how small a shield can be. Fighters at this level typically do not use big shield like heaters because of how easy it is to end up locked up in not so great positions. Since we grapple and work around strikes and take downs, the punch shield styles you see are more optimized for the type of fighting we do.
      @greazypozer Mace fights are a thing, And I've personally have fought in an exhibition match were we started with longsword and ended with grand falchions. Got a wicked crease on my helmet from that fight. There is spec requirements for the weapons to make them safe(ish). They still can hurt like a son-of-a-bitch. Here is a video showing what our weapons could do to someone unarmored

We did limit the spikes on the shield, so they only stuck out 1/4-1/2 inch cause we didn't wanna get hurt. Good to see the old pass time has gotten more organized.

    Very cool concept, but are there ever any knock-outs? Every fight (to my untrained eye) looks the same. In normal MMA you can see damage being done, you got all the grappling, etc. And I can't see who's more skilled than another. It just looks like wailing. But I am in no way throwing shade, if anything this has got to be one of the most grueling forms of fighting stamina wise.
    Would like to learn more about it, so that I can see the details, and learn what is good technique and such.

      i think this armor is way more padded or weighty than traditional medieval armor, in regular armor you can run and move very quickly

    Also needs an official or ceremonial weigh in, some banter between the opponents before the fights. Nothing creates views like fighters with a beef, either real or for entertainment.

    Was that not two women at 23:38 ? This event badly needs graphics: height, weight, age, weapons, etc on the screen. It's super easy and a no-brainer.

      During the PPV stream, that info is present and you can see it in the previous full fight night video. There was an unfortunate incident that corrupted that footage and audio that had commentary, so the videos we have from the more recent are from the raw video files from 3 different cameras. Took over 30 hours of editing to get these out and watchable.

    This was a pretty fun watch. Excited to see where the sport goes. Particularly with the MMA side of things, seeing as both individual sports exist, bridging the gap between armed arts and unarmed arts would be quite interesting; though i am curious why they werent using sweeps and basic clinch throws like in Muay Thai, since punches are allowed
    Seems like it would be useful and fit right in both practically and thematically. Kicks would also be interesting to see
    Personally I'd add a small, harmless dagger to each fighter's arsenal and have them use it in vital exposed areas if they can (which would ofc be fatal in a real battle), and have it count like a knockout in traditional mma. I.e. the "dead" fighter loses
