QUESTION: I wanted to get a nostril piercing for my birthday but I’m not sure if having to wear a mask will impact the recovery especially since I have to wear one at work. Should I do it or wait?
i got my nostril done right before lockdown, and when i started wearing masks it didn’t affect the piercing at all in my experience. i will say that i didn’t go out for about a month after i got my nostril done, so i didn’t wear masks or anything since i didn’t go anywhere and my piercing was further in the healing process than yours would be. but honestly it should be fine, especially if your mask is somewhat loose in that area. just make sure that if you get pierced with a stud (which you should) that the mask doesn’t snag it. good luck :)
I had my septum pierced a little over a month ago, in the middle of lockdown. I wore a mask immediately after I had the piercing done and had no problems. My septum has actually been the easiest piercing I have EVER had, and part of that is because of the mucuous in your nose!! The snot in your nose has a large population of white blood cells in it, as well the snot itself provides a pretty protective coating around the piercing. It sounds gross, but that’s the purpose of the snot in your nose- trapping nasty shit and neutralizing it so it doesn’t harm you. The skin around the nose is also highly vascular and heals closed pretty quickly, but you should still wait about 3 months or so before making any big jewelry changes because there’s still cartilage. This is even more so for nostrils because they are basically all cartilage.
I have 3 lobe piercings on each ear, then went to get a cartilage piercing there and was too young. I am so happy after a few years I went to a tattoo shop and got it done with a needle. When I have children I will go to a tattoo shop for all piercings they want and will never walk into Claire's again 😂
earlier this month i got my 2nd lobe piercing at claire’s (since i wasn’t trying to make an appointment for just a lobe piercing) and it was quick and didn’t hurt much, but she had my clean it right after. she didn’t even let me wash my hands- the cotton ball method i useless
I got mine done at a tattooist and all my friends were like omg you should of got it at Claire’s they do a gun it hurts less then a needle, The gun applies a lot of pressure but the needle doesn’t hurt a bit.
exactly, do they not wonder "why do they have to use a gun that slams the jewellery into my lobes? isn't that a bit excessive?" but nope, the jewellery they use is very blunt and the only way to get it into someone's lobe is by forcing it in, it's horrible and seeing people in the comments here defending the use of piercing guns is pretty sickening
What the heck??? How is a needle more painful than a piercing gun?? I STILL remember the pain I went through when my lobes were done with a gun (I was young💀), but needles don’t hurt nearly as bad. Glad you got your ears pierced somewhere better🤣
I have 7 piercings done by Claire’s back in the 90’s. Only one set of piercings that didn’t get infected was my 2nd lobe piercings on both ears. My 1st, 3rd, and my one cartilage piercing that did get infected a little bit. I still have them. I know a piercing gun is bad.
OMG I’m a piercer from Australia and I’m just gobsmacked at this aftercare! I can’t believe how much they are touching the ears!! Why aren’t they using an aftercare spray WTAF😳We have stores like this too like Cosmetics Plus & Lovisa, they should be banned from piercing!

i got my upper lobe done at claires two years ago, in my deffence i have to say i didnt really know any better.... but it's fine cause it's just a lobe, but still I WAS STUPID😂❤️
i had my second hole done in my ears by them around 13 because my stepsister took me there instead of to a tattoo shop like i asked for knowing it was better especially since i have a skin condition. i was not given a paper to explain cleaning it, just a bottle of solution and told to clean it twice a day. and i could be wrong it has been awhile, but i really thought it was a sharpie they used to mark instead of a black pen. it took probably 5 months to heal decently and almost a year before it had no issues at all.
everytime i see a claire's i just cringe passing by one, i have a two year old and rather take her to a piercing studio that is clean and doesn't use guns since i had an infection from piercing on the lobe with a gun.
If it’s your first time getting a piercing DO NOT GET A FLOWER,OR AN EARRING WITH A CERTAIN SHAPE,that will make it more uncomfortable and you will mess with it then it will get infected.I recommend the small balls especially the stainless steel or gold(if you are repiercing gold shouldn’t hurt) they are the most comfortable and they are not that annoying.-maddy?
claire’s worker here- we offer 14k white or yellow gold, 24k gold plated, stainless steel, and titanium. the titanium isn’t implant grade, it’s the same quality our titanium body jewelry is made out of
I just got my ear pirced with Claire they didn’t show me how to clean my ears they put the cleaning lotion on my ears after the pirced for both ear and that was it cost £31
Had my ear lobes pierced at Claire’s and they got really red and started to eat the little golden duck earring (recommended by the staff!) looked like they were melting into my ear. Turns out I was allergic to gold (I think) and I also had an ear infection
I got my ears pierced at Claire’s in 2009 and I was told to take the jewelry out and soak them in their solution. Then I cleaned my ears with said solution and put the jewelry back in. After that, I was told to promptly twist them. I really don’t know how I didn’t get an infection. I don’t remember how long they took to heal because I was 8 and my sense of time was lacking. Did anyone get pierced professionally as a kid?
I work at Claire’s and these videos really scare me because I’m literally paid to pierce earings but I’m not a fucking piercer so I shouldn’t be doing it but I’m literally forced to…I just need the money you know? But I know how dangerous it is so pierce ears with that stupid gun instead of proper needles like professionals do…they don’t fucking tell their workers that what they’re doing is dangerous for their costumers!! They literally force us to convince our clients that it’s safe to pierce that ears like that or we literally can’t fucking work their. I literally found out how dangerous it is to get pierced with guns like two weeks ago…AND I’VE BEEN WORKING THERE FOR MONTHS It’s honestly so fucked up
One of the main problems of clairs piercings is that the bars are so small, they are fine for a kid but not that much when you grow up, so if you wanna go, think first if your earlobe is thin enough to fit the bar of their piercings, and remember that when swells, it should still be some space (honestly i wouldnt go back, i remember the girl literally told me she had trained by piercing the other workers at lunch time, thats all the expirience she had)
Ma'am I wanna get my second ear pierce but im actually scared to go get it at Claire's because almost everyone who goes there is gonna get an infection. What do you think i should do?
I will say, I just recently got mine done at Claire's (September 1st) because I really wanted them and my mom was too lazy to get a notary. I got ear lobes. The whole thing lasted MAYBE 10 minutes. She didn't actually go over the steps with us and instead gave us the paper and told us to read it ourselves. The paper says to wait 3-4 weeks. And we also weren't actually shown how to clean it, or given any direction on what we should or should not use. They just put the paper and the rapid cleanser in a bag and shoved us out the door.
My first piercing after my lobes was a cartilage piercing when I was 17 & Claire’s shattered my cartilage. It took years to heal. I’m 23 now & still have issues with it. I hate Claire’s lol.
I did wait eight weeks. At first, I was afraid I'd be stuck in my starters forever because they were in there tight. The remove starter earrings videos helped me get them out. I even put danglies in and it was fine.
I don't understand why there isn't more regulations for piercings like making sure there are certifications and being clear and up front certifications if they have any or not. like the food industry where they have to have the health ratings up like mcdonalds.
I've never been pierced at Claire's, Piercing Pagoda, or any mall store or kiosk. I've never been pierced with a piercing gun. Always a needle, and at a legit piercing shop, preferably with an APP certified piercer on duty. And always with titanium jewelry. Not saying I won't go into Claire's to buy jewelry. I do quite often, but I don't buy piercing jewelry there, just necklaces, rings, and bracelets. I respect my body too much to allow it to be pierced with a gun. And I use nothing but Neilmed piercing aftercare spray on my piercings. I still clean them twice daily, even if they've been healed for years. (Jan Griffiths).
I've just recently got my ears pierced at Claire's (My second holes ) and I didn't really feel the pain during but a week later my ears have been really sore and sensitive and I've noticed some swelling and a sort of weird smell with a green substance, so I took the earrings out to clean my ears and bring down the swelling. I will say that I've always had my ears done at Claire's and I've never had THAT bad of a problem, any advice I could get to take the pain away?
Bro- sounds like an infection. You’re probably gonna have to take them out … the only thing i can suggest is to look up solutions on the web. They might give u some further insight
I did my piercing with titanium jewelry but is seems that I’m also allergic to it ( I’m allergic to silver). I was thinking of using gold. Can u recommend me something please 😅
So i heard that helix piercings that r done with studs take 3-4 months to heal and that if u get it done with a hoop(which u shouldnt) it takes 9-12. Sooooo, how long does it take for a helix piercing to heal then? I'm confused
Everybody is different. Even with a stud It’s unlikely someone would heal so soon. I would say for most people it probably takes about a year to completely heal
Helix piercings, like any cartilage piercing takes around 6-12 months to heal. like the person above said, everyone heals differently and the way your body reacts and how you take care of them will affect the healing process. Hoops will definitely prolong the healing process and in most cases will cause issues.
I got my first ears peirced at shark's in Frisco the. It closed up and got it repeirced at clairs then got my second piercing at the pin cushion in Frisco I like the after care from my second piercing because u have to use a soap and a spray they say to not use anything from clairs they do not like clairs but I like that they don't use a piercing gun also with the cleaning stuff and the soap and spray I wash my hands put it on my finger tip and I am able to get it like under the piercing but not the hile
The health service in my country did their best to f*** up my new piercings, but I didn't let them because of advice such as yours. So thank you very much! 😊
My first ear lobes were not done at Claire’s but they were done at a kiosk in the mall when I was 6. Regardless I remember it was done with a gun and both lobes were gunned at the SAME TIME. So you can imagine I probably screamed 😖
YOOOOO a kiosk in the mall... SAMEEE... i was around 8, i was a dumb kid back then and didn't know shit about piercings and how to take care of it and it got hella infected. or it was probably the kiosk owner who did it improperly 🙄🙄
So I'm a Claire's piercer and I have to say I'm definitely not a fan of the gun and I sometimes even recommend the costumers to go to a professional piercer (woops sorry Claire's) b4 I was allowed to pierce I had to read 40 pages about Claire's and their piercings and an intensive training before i was even allowed to try it on humans 😴
One of my oldest cartilage piercings is about two years old at this point and I still would never leave it without anything in it - and 8-12 weeks?? Why tell kids (since that's who they market themselves to) that sort of wrong information and not prepare them for how long and frustrating a cartilage piercing's healing time can be!
I got my ears pierced there for my eighth birthday in 2007. They took like 6 months to heal and were p nasty for a while, though I credit that to me being left to my own devices to keep them clean. I will say the jewelry selection is leaps and bounds better now, p sure back then they just offered fake diamonds and birthstone flower earrings.
Im actually very lucky. When I was 11 I got my ears pierced at claires, perfectly even and the piercer wore gloves and everything. Now im older shretching those same piercings and currently at 6g 😂. Im not saying to go there, because you could have a bad experience, I just got lucky.
i got all 3 of my lobe piercings done at claire’s (3 in each ear). there was no infection problem, the only issue is one hole was pierced at an angle so getting hoops into it is hard and painful sometimes. But never get cartilage done by them because they use the gun. never ever 😂😊
I had my lobes done by Claire’s when I was around 9 and they never got infected or anything and they haven’t healed up in the 7 years I’ve had them pierced and I hardly wear my earrings so I had a good experience so I can’t fault claires
Very detailed! I enjoyed watching that :) I had a friend who worked in Claire's when we went to school together, said as former staff ''The only training you're ever given, is lining up a piercing gun with a black dot on an artificial ear. Then you're made to sit through a weird training video. You're meant to use alcohol based wipes and afterwards, plug the piercing solution. This is no better than bleach and you're expected to flog it to these very clueless parents/family members. Your piercing is being done by a confused 16 year old wearing her home clothing in her first job who genuinely doesn't know what she's doing and who doesn't know any better.'' There's also quotas to reach regarding ear piercing. She's no longer working there, she moved on and does something else now.
went to claires when i was 10 they weren't healed within 8 weeks (cus i have thick lobes ngl) and got infected cus of my thicc lobes the post was way too small esp for swelling when my mam took em out to change em it hurt like hell had scar tissue underneath my lobes for years got pierced in an actual piercing shop at 16 still had the scar tissue but when it was pierced it went away and they healed nicely within 4 months i now have 10 piercings got 3 last week and ive never had an issue with them bar the odd piercing bump from sleeping on them theyre all fully healed (bar the 3 i got last week obvs) even my industrial sister went to claires twice each time they got infected shes 14 and she decided to get pierced with a gun again (despite me going to take her to a proper piercing shop) the back was bet against her ear and i had to loosen it shes fine now im making sure she atleast cleans them with nielmed so hopefully it turns out ok (next time shes going to a piercing shop) but yeah guns are bad news
When I was in first grade, I got my ears pierced. After it was over, my mom asked if we could change the ear rings out a day later, since I really wanted to change them. They said yes, which is something you should NOT do. If you do, the holes will close up VERY quickly. Well, we took them out, and as my mom was putting the other earrings in, the holes were already starting to close up, and we couldn’t get the earrings in. The holes closed up quickly after. That was about 9 years ago, and I’m thinking about if I want to try again.
The very first time I got my first and second ear lobes at Claire’s… they BOTH got infected. Using a piercing gun just clearly ISNT the PROPER way to pierce at ALL. Smh!
They’re taught to clean the front and the.back, once your done you twist and turn so that the solution goes inside. It makes more sense. They offer 14 k gold and white gold, titanium gold plated and stainless steal. They’re a piercing place so it makes sense to offer titanium DONT you think? And why do they offer it? Because it’s the strongest metal🤦🏽♀️ something that’s super important to know and that’s also taught to everyone working there!
ok but my piercer was so nice and good at her job- she was assuring and explained the whole aftercare process. she cleaned them before the piercing well, she cleaned the jewelry and the area of the pierce. not all places are bad
I pierced ears for Claire’s when I was sixteen and it was my first summer job. My training consisted of 20 minutes practice on a fake ear in my managers back office. Having looked after animals and knowing that cleanliness for injures is paramount importance I was obsessive about the cleanliness of the station , guns etc but On my days off when I’d come back and go to pierce ears whoever was working there next it was filthy as in hair in the guns and dust and crap in the drawers. A girl came in clearly with an infection travelling up her ear from piercing sight and this was not one of the people I pierced. My manager told tne mum off saying “well I can’t re pierced the ear now you’ve taken it out” I’m not being funny it was pus riddled and scabbing all up the girls ear! My manager stormed off so I quickly apologised and urged the mum to take her daughter immediately to the drs as it looked really badly infected, they left before my rude manager came back and I quit my job shortly after that - too dangerous! BUT all my daughters have and their ears pierced by Claire’s and all fine I even got another set done yesterday and very happy with them. I think it comes down to management and cleanliness.

When did Claire's employees start wearing tiaras
And tutus...
Never lol that was weird
It’s called piecing princess and it’s a fun experience for the little girls to get pierced by a princess.
I have 3 lobe piercings on each ear, then went to get a cartilage piercing there and was too young. I am so happy after a few years I went to a tattoo shop and got it done with a needle. When I have children I will go to a tattoo shop for all piercings they want and will never walk into Claire's again 😂
I got my triple lobe done at Clare’s and had no problems. But they did not tell me nor give me any sheet of how to clean them?
earlier this month i got my 2nd lobe piercing at claire’s (since i wasn’t trying to make an appointment for just a lobe piercing) and it was quick and didn’t hurt much, but she had my clean it right after. she didn’t even let me wash my hands- the cotton ball method i useless
Should I get my Claire's piercing removed if it is bad? Will they heal well?
As a piercer at Claire’s this does upset. Because that is not how you clean it and we do tell you NOT to touch it unless hands are clean
Why would you want to be a piercer at Claire's :/ go work at a reputable shop
You’re not a piercer you’re a sales associate with a piercing gun. I used to work in Claire’s btw
@@alskarmodethey force us to pierce ears unfortunately.
I had my cartilage pierced there when I was in high school & still have it but have 16g jewelry in it now
I got mine done at a tattooist and all my friends were like omg you should of got it at Claire’s they do a gun it hurts less then a needle, The gun applies a lot of pressure but the needle doesn’t hurt a bit.
you are the smartest person in your friend group 💯
@@MidletonButerfingers thanks 👍
exactly, do they not wonder "why do they have to use a gun that slams the jewellery into my lobes? isn't that a bit excessive?" but nope, the jewellery they use is very blunt and the only way to get it into someone's lobe is by forcing it in, it's horrible and seeing people in the comments here defending the use of piercing guns is pretty sickening
I have 20 piercings most of which were done by my same piercer, and she says I can change the jewelry after 6 weeks. I've done this everytime and never had a problem.
Ok I got mine done at Claire’s a couple days ago and nothing happened how can I avoid an affection? because next time I will definitely do a needle!!!
@@Lixyah22 it's alright girl, I did it too before I knew better! Clean it twice a day with salt water (h20cean spray) or antimicrobial soap. Do not, and I mean do not use claire's awful cleaner. There's so many chemicals.

Igot my lobe pierced for a second time yesterday and it was at clairs. I was hesitant because of the rumours but I watched the woman like a hawk. She was clean, super clean, wiped and soaked everything in cleaning solution etc, wiped my ear and used antibacterial gel, then gloves then wiped the gloves down.
She did it and it didn't hurt at all. Next day my right ear is a tiny bit sore from me knocking it in my sleep but I didn't have any swelling or redness yesterday or today.
I 100% would not have the top of my ear or nose piercings there but this is my second lobe and I've not had a problem. Both are fine. I think it's up to you. I would not have gone through with it if she didn't clean everything so thoroughly.
I know there is horror stories but I took the risk cus I'm impatient and impulsive xD and it was fine.

Claire's offers long post earrings and yes they also have titanium. They also have short post for babies.
nobody should be giving piercings to babies...they can't consent to sh1t.
@@MidletonButerfingers that's true that they cannot consent but as a parent or legal guardian, they have the right to do what they please with their own children. By law. 🤷

i had my second hole done in my ears by them around 13 because my stepsister took me there instead of to a tattoo shop like i asked for knowing it was better especially since i have a skin condition. i was not given a paper to explain cleaning it, just a bottle of solution and told to clean it twice a day. and i could be wrong it has been awhile, but i really thought it was a sharpie they used to mark instead of a black pen. it took probably 5 months to heal decently and almost a year before it had no issues at all.
everytime i see a claire's i just cringe passing by one, i have a two year old and rather take her to a piercing studio that is clean and doesn't use guns since i had an infection from piercing on the lobe with a gun.
I got a small star😟
claire’s worker here- we offer 14k white or yellow gold, 24k gold plated, stainless steel, and titanium. the titanium isn’t implant grade, it’s the same quality our titanium body jewelry is made out of
Lol. She is dressed like a princess for the Princess Piercing, its an option for the kids more for the experience than anything.
I just got my ear pirced with Claire they didn’t show me how to clean my ears they put the cleaning lotion on my ears after the pirced for both ear and that was it cost £31
The sass at the beginning Was the best 😂
Had my ear lobes pierced at Claire’s and they got really red and started to eat the little golden duck earring (recommended by the staff!) looked like they were melting into my ear. Turns out I was allergic to gold (I think) and I also had an ear infection
OMFG I love your necklace! where did you get it? I kinda want one. I love bats and coffin jewellery
What if your allergic to other types of earrings and gold is the only one you don’t react to?
Where did you get your necklace?
I literally found out how dangerous it is to get pierced with guns like two weeks ago…AND I’VE BEEN WORKING THERE FOR MONTHS
It’s honestly so fucked up
I got my ears pierced there in the 70's...the 5 holes are still in use!
I LOVE YOUR NECKLACE!
I really love your necklace! And your make up!
I'm a Claire's piercer hehe!!! Seriously and we definitely do things mostly the same but not exactly like this.
Ma'am I wanna get my second ear pierce but im actually scared to go get it at Claire's because almost everyone who goes there is gonna get an infection. What do you think i should do?
@@Sukuna12321go to an actual licensed, reputable piercer at a tattoo shop. I work at Claire’s
Got my first holes done at claires when i was like, six. they got infected a lot, my mom had to take care of them. they also ended up uneven lol
I did wait eight weeks. At first, I was afraid I'd be stuck in my starters forever because they were in there tight. The remove starter earrings videos helped me get them out. I even put danglies in and it was fine.
Would it be ok to clean piercings with a spray bottle?
I don't understand why there isn't more regulations for piercings like making sure there are certifications and being clear and up front certifications if they have any or not. like the food industry where they have to have the health ratings up like mcdonalds.
Your makeup is so stunning ❤❤
I LOVE THE RED HAIR ON YOU!

Literally clairs are told to say “don’t u cotton tips” but then the way they say to clean does noting?

They don’t offer titanium at Icing they do not offer any more at Claire’s either I don’t think
they offer at both
I got my ears pierced there for my eighth birthday in 2007.

Your piercing is being done by a confused 16 year old wearing her home clothing in her first job who genuinely doesn't know what she's doing and who doesn't know any better.''
There's also quotas to reach regarding ear piercing. She's no longer working there, she moved on and does something else now.
I got mine pierced at Claire’s and of course mine were red but I really haven’t had many problems. It depends on the Claire’s and the piercer.
Why am i watching so many piercing videos 😂. It’s because I’m getting mine done this week at Claire’s 😂

I reccomend if you have a blue bannana near you, get your ears pierced there. The workers there are trained and proffesional.
8:29 that is my reaction when I watch claire's videos lol
