    I used to work at Claire’s YEARS ago and their “training” was watching a couple videos and then “practice” on a couple fake ears then find a couple people to get a discount and get their ears done and then BOOM! You’re certified by Claire’s. It wasn’t really in depth training. I’m not sure if it’s changed much but that’s how it was about 10 years ago.

    Gun piercing hurts so much worse than needle piercing. I would never go back to Claire's and I have a great piercer now.

      i agree when i think of it years ago i refuse having a piercing gun near me, i rather get the needle.

      I had my first lobes and helix done with a gun (was lucky and had no complications) but since then got 7 other piercings (6 of which I still have) and I 100% agree guns hurt WAY more than an actual professional using a proper needle.

    • @Battmatt22
      @Battmatt22 Год назад

      That’s because the gun is using straight pressure to pierce you, with the needle it’s stabbing you it’s using the sharpness of the needle.

    I had my ears pierced at Claire's TWICE when I was 7 and 9 years old, and each time had to remove my piercings because they got infected SO badly! I didn't get my ears pierced again until I was 30 and I went to a tattoo/piercing shop. They healed great and now I have no problems!

    i got my first lobe piercings done at claires and I did the "dual piercing" option where 2 people do it simultaneously, and apparently it was the girl doing my left ear's first time and she yanked the gun once she pierced it and now i have a permanent tear in my left lobe that hasn't healed/closed up after 14 years...

    My mom worked at Claire's so she wouldn't allow me to get my lobes pierced any other way. I got them done 2 weeks ago and it hurt so much more than my cartilage piercing which was done with a needle. I am against piercing guns.

    I had my lobes pierced at Claire's about 18 years ago. I had infection after infection and eventually one of the earrings became embedded and had to be surgically removed! I let them close over and then recently had them re-pierced, but by a professional piercer this time! This time I haven't had any issues with infections or embedding.

    • @hannahroyle2886

    I work there. Training is watching like 8 5 minute videos. Practice on a cardboard and silicone ear once or twice (in my case right after a customer requested a dual piercing, we ran to the back and I got a quick crash course on how to do it), then you’re released to hole punch People’s ears. I’m still supervised while piercing bc I’m still in training. I hate doing them. My hands shake so bad lmfao.

  • @blueblousedesigns

    The reason they say "Piercing Earring" is because the earrings have a sharp point so the Studex gun can just push the earrings in the each ear, and eliminating the use of a needle

    I’m from the U.K. and with the government lockdown rules (which btw are sucky and boris can bog off) and Claire’s are allowed to open which makes no sense in my mind as they won’t allow actual professional tattoo studios and piercing studios to open yet they’re free to open shitty unhygienic Claire’s which baffles me 😤🤨

    I live in Italy, and while we don't have Claire's here, pharmacists are allowed to do ear piercings using piercing guns. A pharmacist once told me that they advise you to turn the jewellery because the material the earring is made of can literally stick to the skin if the little crusties that form during healing aren't "broken", and that this does not happen only if you use medical grade materials as they do in piercing shops. I never asked a piercer if this is true or not, but thought I would share this piece of information I got!

    • @jalexoneschanel1356
      @jalexoneschanel1356 4 года назад +2

      That makes sense tbh. I’ve never had problems or excessive crusties with 316 L stainless steel (implant grade) or implant grade titanium or niobium. Titanium was seriously the only thing I could wear in my second lobes if I wanted them to heal after I first got them. I’ve since expanded and mostly wear 316L stainless steel because it’s cheaper and more widely available. But if it isn’t implant grade?? I don’t fucking touch it. I am SO ALLERGIC to all other metals it isn’t even funny. I can’t even really wear gold or silver for long periods of time because the tarnish silver gets makes me break out and I get itchy with a lot of gold. I’d need something like 14k gold minimum if I were to not have an allergic reaction to it.

    I got three out of my five ear piercings at various Clairs....a lloonngg time ago now. I had no problem other then they did a bad job of lining them up so the holes are a bit lopsided. There weren't very many options for piercings back when I got them done.

    Fun thing about Claire’s and cartilage piercings: they pierce 20g. And cartilage is usually 16g/18g. Found out the hard way shoving in a 16g and a 18g.

    Claire's made me read and initial 2 pages of promises to clean my ears and exactly how. That's great! I'm allergic to their solution, and I suspect that the rapid is very diluted bleach based on the smell and that I'm allergic to bleach, among other things. So here I am, looking for the right way to do this. (I waited for an adult with piercings and watched her sterilize every single thing, just to get hives on my hands and ears.

    Had my first lobes done at a similar store when I was a kid. My parents opted for the "dual" option for my older sister and I, which wasn't bad in itself. I'd get dual piercings done by pros if my shop offered it. It was really quick and I don't think it was any worse than any other lobe piercing. That said, my first lobe piercings are finnicky, sensitive and they took a while to initially heal. Plus my right lobe is crooked and off-centre. Glad I got the rest of my piercings from professional piercers!

    Got most of my lobe pierceing done at Claire's and I worked at Claire's over 20 years ago. And I don't remember ANY training. I felt bad every time I pierced someone's ears. Especially babies. That gun is HORRIBLE! Will never let kids or grandkids get it done anywhere but a piercing/tattoo shop.

    You uploaded this the same day (about? give or take) that Nickelodeon teen star (or whatever) got her ears pierced at Claire’s but the earring ended up going through her lobes and the STRINGS OF HER FACE MASK. Initially it had my cracking up but the good news is that the poor girl’s mom was able to cut off majority of the strings from the mask.

    Hah, finding this video May 2021. I had my seconds done at Claire's (firsts with a gun at a jewellers). My firsts were quick and simple. My seconds... OOOOHHH BOY! The gun (having pierced my lobe) LOCKED on. I had a piercing gun hanging from my lobe for 15 minutes while they ran about like headless chickens trying to figure out how to remove it. My mum had to get it off (I was 15 and she came with me)... Yeah. No more guns for me EVER. 3rds with needles and beautiful *chefs kiss*

    I've had 3 piercings done at Claire's. Lobe twice of course, a hundred years ago it seems. Back when they were the only ones around. At least in my area. No real issues with them. They are still fine and I've even stretched one to currently 2g. My cartilage however was a real issue. I got my left cartilage and my right lobe a third time. The cartilage just wouldn't heal. Ended up just retiring it. Eventually got it done elsewhere and now it's fine.

    I had mine done there when I was 13. I had problems with the butterfly backs, couldn't keep them clean enough despite following the instructions. At the time they said to keep the initial earrings in for 6 months. I did, but apparently the back sides of my ears had never healed properly because I took them out for 1 freaking night after 6 months and they were closed on the back side by morning. I still have to push through the back little bit every time I want to wear earrings. Im going to go to an actual piercing shop when the pandemic is clear and get them redone with a smaller gauge so they don't keep closing up on me.

    • @firecat3193

    My first ear piercing was done there when I was like 7, I was petrified and didn’t want my ears done (grandma did though). The holes are crooked so if I wear studs they are pointed different directions. But I feel like it was my fault cause I tried getting away on the second one. A friend of mine got her nose done at one in Ohio and said it was fine.
    Personally I prefer going to a piercing and tattoo shop and feel they are much more welcoming and do better, also offer better quality.

    I got my ears done at walmart about 10 years ago and the lady just slapped on gloves, didnt bother washing her hands. Then pierced me and got both ears in the wrong spots cause she was around (im guessing) 85 years old and her hands were shaking. So i got them redone and now when i take my earrings out i have semi colons. Now i have 7 other piercings i got professionally done and the only problem ive ever had was 1 irritation bump from the ear strap on my mask

    I still remember the ringing in my ears from the snapping of the gun ramming that earring into my virgin lobes... All those years ago (early 80s). I now have second lobes, a daith, a helix, an industrial, a conch and both tragus piercings done - and NOT from Claire's! Working on third lobes, a flat, and a triple forward helix and possibly another daith or even a rook. I can't stop! 🤪 I feel like there should be strict regulations, and schooling that should be mandatory for piercing. If I had to go to school and get licensed to give people facials, people should have to get licensed to poke people with needles, and piercing guns should be banned in the US.
