When I got my conch pierced I cleaned once a day for about a week then just rinsed in the shower. I personally had not issues & it’s healed perfectly 😊
i could definately see this "litha method" working, for sure. but for me? eh, everyones different, for most people i feel this may work but if anyones like me and has super greasy wax in their ears, we get A LOT of build up, which.. wouldn't be so good for the piercing. so i clean, then i leave it alone haha
due to running out of both salt and sterile water, i had try the LITHA method for 4 days on my 3-week-old dermal anchor piercings under my eye! long story short, they didnt like it! by day four they were beginning to hurt and had started bleeding. so I'm now back to salt bathing and antibac soap and they have settled right down in just 2 days. on the other hand, it made no noticeable difference at all to my normal bar piercings.
Information around piercing aftercare has changed so much over the years. We used to be told to turn the piercing regularly and clean off the crusties with a saline soaked q-tip. Now we're told that this can irritate the piercing and cause keloids! I've found that soaking a cotton ball and leaving it on the piercing for a bit, then LITHA works well for me.
I mostly do the litha method. In the shower, I'll clean around the area (but not directly in the piercing) with a mild hand soap that's not full of emollients or anything like that. I don't touch the crusties at all. It's worked well for me and I've healed an industrial and several other major cartilage piercings that way. Currently healing a rook.
i recommend a soap that is unscented! some scents can dry out the skin or irritate it, causing more crusties and possibly infection. my personal favorite is dial antibacterial unscented hand soap
I pretty much do this method for piercings and tattoos, no issues. I am super forgetful and usually away from home and don’t always have saline and just found showering enough. Tbh piercers now don’t even tell me aftercare and just say “it’s just like x piercing” most of the people in the industry I know follow this method and then saline as needed, hot compresses as needed, etc.
I’ve had 26+ piercings and have used the litha method on all but two (my original lobes). When I got my lobes pierced back in the 70’s the piercer told me to clean it with hydrogen peroxide. Worked fine. I prefer litha over all
I used the saline solution method for all of my ear piercings but used the litha method for my nose piercing, I shower daily so it was being washed with water. I think it has healed at the same rate as my other piercings, I don’t really see much of a difference. My cartilage piercings always take an age to heal and they’re really prone to bumps but it seems to have healed well.
I love the LITHA method for both my daith piercings (and other piercings before such as my conch piercings and spetum) after a week I did the cleaning 2x a week.
I tend to do a combination of both LITHA and saline solution. I have recently gotten two cartilage piercings and I ensured I cleaned the new piercings 2 times a day for a minimum of a month or six weeks. Then I stepped it down to once a day. Apart from the cleaning, I LITHA the rest of the time. Never had any issues. I had a lip piercing when I was about 17 and I cleaned it for maybe the first couple weeks until it stopped getting crusty, then left it. It healed perfectly.
That’s what I’ve been doing currently. The piercer told me to leave my alone and not to twist or move it. So I clean them twice a day and then leave it alone.
Honestly I feel like I do a mixture of this method and the normal care. For the first week I'm really good about cleaning it twice a day. Then I start to just get tired and lazy and the weeks that follow I end up either some days cleaning it once a day or some days not at all. Depending on if I was just lazy that day and didn't feel like messing with it and all my peircings have healed just fine without a problem.
My piercer recommends only cleaning for 5 days then LITHA - I'm not cleaning my new piercings at the moment, just letting the shower run over them, and they are way less irritated than when I've actively cleaned them - I defo think I was over cleaning
I cleaned mine with saline 2x a day for the 1st 6 weeks then went to once a day for a month and now I just clean it in the shower when I do all my other piercing and take saline to it every so often if it has and dry skin or lymph.
This method worked for me. I got a conch and Tragus. Cleaned them as instructed. Both got infected. Next ear, daith, Tragus & Flat. Did the LITHA method, it’s now week 6 and I have not had any trouble AT ALL. The most I’ve gotten was a tiny bit of crust on the daith, and I think that’s because it was a bleeder. Anyway… I swear by this method. 😊
The closest I’ve ever come is with my septum piercing. My piercer told me to just blow bubbles like you’re swimming in the shower and that’s all. So that’s what I did and it healed extremely fast and with no problems! Not sure if this really counts, but it’s the closest thing and it was advised by my piercer.
Your makeup is stunning in this video! I like the idea of the LITHA method but personally haven’t healed a piercing that way. I spray my new piercings with saline twice a day and I let the water hit it in the shower, but I don’t touch or fiddle with them other than that.
my mum taught me to use surgical spirit on my lobes when I was younger and she still believes that's the correct thing to do; I'm so glad I don't use that on my cartilage piercings because it is suuuuper strong
I alwasy clean my new piercings once a day and then leave it alone and they heal faster, like my nipple piercing i clean them once then leave them to heal by themselves and its working
this is what i have done with my snakebites and industrial (mostly). my industrial has been super sore for the past 6 months of this healing and i expect it to be sore for 18 months at least. i just let shower water run over my ears for about 30 seconds, maybe more, sometimes i will clean it but depends how bad it is irritated from over night. with my lips i clean them with saline maybe 2-3 times a week but other than that i just use mouth wash and let my face run in the shower for 30 secs
Funny I didn't know what the Litha method waa but that's what I was doing, I still have irritation bumps but eh I don't have time to be cleaning it so often
Similar to a few others, when I got my conch pierced, I did the saline spray twice a day regularly for maybe 3 weeks? I used a doughnut pillow for when I would inevitably roll onto that side in my sleep, and I still do nearly a year later if it feels like it may be trying to get sore. I had intended to keep up with a regular saline routine, but I fell off the wagon about 3ish weeks in. Everything has been fine. There was a day maybe a week ago where it felt a little sore, so I used the saline spray on it, and that cleared it right up. I'm looking forward to changing the jewelry out to a hoop soon, though, because a stud or bar has always been difficult for me to deal with. My helix was the same way.
Any facial piercing I do the default saline solution but have actually had very good results with the LITHA method on my genital piercings (VCH and labia). These piercing didn't produce much crusties and the shower was enough to keep them clean.
I do this for my healing tattoos, to a certain extent. I’m allergic to ointment so I skip that step. I typically just keep tatts and piercings clean with antibacterial soap and only lotion the tatts when I’m really itchy. But not doing anything at all seems unsanitary and uncomfortable. Especially when you come in contact with so much in a day. You really should be cleaning it sometimes 🤣
I'm using Neilmed, however, I have a bump on my nostril piercing for months now. I'm soooo annoyed. I spray it on and don't touch it. Then in the evening I spray once again and remove the crusties. And it's still there. I'm so done with it.
if ur still having this problem, the only thing that helped my nostril bump was just putting coconut oil on it 2 times a day, my piercer said the bump was FROM the saline spray i was using because it dries the skin and piercing out so much, so try just coconut oil if ur still having the problem!
It has always been my understanding that LITHA doesn’t necessarily mean doing nothing AT ALLLLLLL. I have ADHD and I basically do this method because once crusties stop I immediately forget to use my saline spray anyway. But I am excellent at leaving that piercing the hell alone.
I leave it alone a short while after my downsizing. I realize I touch it thoroughly in the shower and it might’ve been the cause of delaying my healing.
I did without realizing it when i was a teen I got my belly pierced never did anything to it kinda didn't know you were supposed to 🤣 things are probably easier to heal when your younger though lmfao
Actually I don't think this method is making me comfortable at my piercing healing process, cause i get stressed everytime i see crusties around my piercings! So I've gotta clean them
THIS is the most elegant look for you !!!

10/10 method. Don’t touch and don’t harass it.

@@emilymay124 Hey, thanks for your reply! Unfortunately I took it out due to incorrect placement and jewelry. That thing was never going to heal :(
