    Thank you! Just fixed mine on my 2011 Impala. Followed your instructions and they got me there perfectly. The only thing I did differently was I took the glove box off completely... and I STILL had a really hard time fitting my hands and the socket wrench in there. All set now, though. Now for some victory gin.

      @@GarageBoys I was able to change out the one on the left. I have my 10 years old trying to get his hand into the tight space for the right. We are having a tough time. If I leave the one knocking unplugged how much will that affect the performance? I turned the car on and I see the vent still turns. Will it just be more wear and tear and I may have to do it again in a few years?

    • @GarageBoys
      @GarageBoys  4 года назад

      If you leave it unplugged then you can’t switch that option. You are stuck in that one setting you have, since the screws are on plastic a good trick is to use the socket and turn it with your hand. Try it

    I have replaced several of these on a 2008 Impala. Thank you so much for the helpful video :) Can't believe stuff like this is free to watch!
    I got lucky and had the clicking problem with the actuator on the left side of the passenger glove compartment, which is the easiest to remove and replace. It really is as easy as removing a couple screws and a connector. Btw I have a 2013 Imapla so yes, this will work on the 2013 model too. I only installed the replacement a few days ago so I can't speak to its durability but it is 100% compatible and works perfectly so far. The amazon reviews seem to say its durable enough. Even if it goes out in a couple years, its so cheap and such an easy fix you might as well do it again.

      @@GarageBoys In my case, I replaced the three actuators. The driver side was a pain to replace and now it did it again. I fiddled around with it and noticed that when I push it hard against the panel that screws into, it will stop doing it and opens/closes the vent normally. As soon as I release it, it starts doing it again. I found out (as I mentioned) that one of the screws is stripped and won't secure the actuator properly. Now it might've been my fault, but I'm sure I was careful not to tighten it too much. Either way, I would have to tighten the thing pretty well to secure it properly. I gave up. Left it in cold and unplugged it. When winter comes, I'll plug it back in, set it to warm and unplug it again. Thanks for the help though.

    This video was awesome and helped me fix both of my ac articulators on my 2012 Chevy Impala . They are still a mega pain in the ass to change out but if I can do it, anyone can. Removing the left side pin for the glove compartment was a pain because of the tight space but I got it out by using a bent bobby pin and pushing inward with a screw driver to get the removal started until I yanked it out completely with a pliers. Just need a 1/4 ratchet set with 7/32 and an extension for the articulators. The one closet to the driver is easy but the one on the passengers side will have you cussing and getting creative with the ratchet/ extension just to loosen the screws. You will have to move a large coil of wires by popping/cutting off the plastic mounting just to get to the passenger side articulator. I only had two screws on both articulators. The link for parts I needed on amazon was correct and every thing is working as it should. Thank you for this video.

    Okay. I've replaced it. Took me about 20 minutes. Then the driver's side one broke... Now that is a whole different deal. I lost my shit doing that one... But after about an hour it is done. Whatever you do, don't take it to the dealership. They wanted $500+ for a "4 1/2 hour labor." Got the part for $30 at Autozone and a $20 extra-small ratchet (very helpful!)

      Hey Friend. When you said the one on the drivers side, did you mean the one on the left of the glove box or one on the other side of the heater/AC control panel? Thanx and take care.

    • @TheHuskyGT
      @TheHuskyGT 4 года назад +1

      @@stevew6138 Yeah. The driver side one is the one left to the climate control panel. You access it by removing all the panels from under the steering wheel. It's a real pain, but not impossible. The two that are behind the glovebox are the easy ones.

    I have replaced 2 of the 3 I know of on my 2010 Impala. The far right one and the one over the gas pedal. And yes, the one over the gas pedal is a S.O.B. to replace!
