A couple things to mention that weren’t in the video: Not only are the different input methods strong depending on stage positioning, but certain methods are better at covering certain DI. Turnaround/dashback IDJ bair is better for DI in, and IRAR bair is better for DI out, for example. Dthrow DI is reactable, so we can choose what method to do on the fly. At ledge, not only does Byleth naturally pressure enough to condition shields, but landing nair into fair - which many people try to avoid by shielding - is another one of Byleth’s strongest kill confirms and works best at ledge. So we have two different early kill confirms at ledge that we can choose from depending on our opponent’s defensive option. We’ll be putting out more content soon! I've been playing Byleth since day 1 because I loved Three Houses, and I'm glad this character is getting the attention they deserve because of Leo's performance.
Said every byleth player (have to edit this because some people think I’m being toxic. It’s a joke, poking fun at the people who only play whatever characters MKLeo does, since I have a few friends like that.)
As the meta progresses, killing insanely early is becoming more common at top level as advantage states get fleshed out more. So having a confirm like this that has so many ways to land it and so many good situations from it, and it being pretty reliable is huge. you cant argue Byleth is less than high tier anymore even without Leos dominance. This isnt even all Byleth has either, and i like how some of that is shown in the video as well.
That’s definitely quite powerful. It’s quite reliable for Byleth to combo into grab, so having a kill confirm from it early on is insane. It’s also somewhat foolproof since even there’s an input mistake, it will still put the enemy into disadvantage or setup for ledge trap or edge guard.
I been playing Byleth since 2020 because I loved 3 Houses so much. Always thought this character was really good. Glad Leo has been dominating. Great video as always
combined with nq runoff fair this character has cracked corner pressure zss nair flipkick is nothing compared to this even when it doesnt kill it sends at a low angle, if you mess up the execution you either hit a double jump which is insta death or you can follow an airdodge
Yeah, Byleth probably has some of the most consitent kill power in the game I don't think Byleth is Top Tier, as in Top 20 char, but I dont see how the character sucks or is mid tier. Byleth has some incredible strengths for a char, like the fact that most characters cant gimp or ledgetrap them all that well. Soild High Tier
She’s mid tier. I mean she’s good obviously and mid tiers in this game can be successful. But even considering mkleo, she has bottom 20 results. I like playing her though. She’s fun. It’s just a testament to how balanced this game is. IMO it’s the most balanced fighting game ever. It’s not perfect but the majority of the cast can be very successful at high level play
I think Byleth is better than most people think he is but I also think Leo makes the character look better than people think he is, if that makes sense. IMO, top tier talk with characters usually tend to be a bit premature, especially if it's a character the whole community thought was bad and took a far better player to make them look great. Like, I'm not trying to take away credit from the character. On paper, the character does look busted in certain ways. But on paper, Leo's Byleth is also winning MU's that he shouldn't be winning. It's hard to get a grasp on how strong a character is when everyone isn't at their best against them and doesn't know how to fight the character.
It’s kind of bs how about half the length of Byleth’s spear hitboxes counts as tippers while Marth’s tippers are only about a quarter of the sword hitboxes. Like, it’s a spear/halberd which literally only has a blade at the tip. Come on.
Byleth’s lance attacks are also slower and thinner and the weak hitbox does nothing while Marth’s does at least something and are more spammable while the hitboxes are sweeping and easier to land, that way it’s easier for Marth to space correctly without needing to position as much while Byleth has to work harder for both plus his ground speed is super slow to get is started, that’s the balance you’re probably looking for
Byleth is so sick, I hated her at first and thought she was super bland. Then I actually played her, and man is she fun and super unique kit-wise. She kind of does it all.

Don;t be surprised when 5 years from now some crazy dude picks up lucario and does crazy shit with him

@@bennolanman its easy to say that until you actually meet a high level lucario. There is one in Vegas and hes pretty cracked. Aura Sphere charge has so much bait potential and confirm potential and is just a insane hitbox you can just wave bounce or reverse charge and just sit on a shield. It will eat the shield and you will be stuck in so much hitstun that its hard to get out. You basically need a good OOS to reliably even have a good option to deal with it. This game is way too huge to have a truly definitive meta for many years imo.
So this is quite frustrating. I can’t get the Bair to confirm as a true hit. Is the timing really that small to land the confirm? I’m not even sure what I’m doing wrong. I can get the fair to confirm a as true but not the Bair. Any tips?
Big fan of this channel, with an honest criticism- bam and Charles to an extent really sounded like they were talking at points just to fill up time in the video, not trying to hate because bam and charles are both goated. But it genuinely felt like a lot of the input was filler cookie cutter things that lacked substance. Would love to see more of this content but I’d love to see it in a way where the reactions dont sound as generic. Maybe add some of your own testing to the video? Or Go further in depth than the original creators. Just my two cents.

But this isn't true at all on Di out? And most people, if they don't know the optimal Di, will standard Di out. So I think it's questionable how useful this "confirm" is in the competitive scene
youd be surprised. after the nair we typically do immediate down throw so whatever di they're doing its what they get. but either way they're off stage which is always good.

Just so we make it clear, this confirm was discovered and popularized in the Byleth community during the summer/fall of 2020, way before offline tournaments returned and Leo was making major waves with the character. We just now are getting this information out in video form so that it’s easily digestible for newer audiences.
One of Byleth’s main win conditions in neutral is to land a grab, and that’s made fairly easy because Byleth’s landing nair, one of his best tools in neutral, combos into grab from 0-64%. You can see in the video that oftentimes the dthrow bair starts with a nairquake so that we can follow up with a grab. Also, Byleth’s dash grab is fairly average when compared with other characters of his body type, and this confirm is usually done with dash grab because of the nair to grab combo I just mentioned.
