Such a privilege to see this masterpiece by Christopher Rouse televised here. Great performance by Louis Langrée and the Cincinnati Symphony. A really haunting work, especially given CR’s knowing of his soon to be approaching death. The last few minutes are tearfully beautiful. I myself have been fortunate to have four of my own works performed by the CSO back when Paavo Järvi was the music director. Thank you CSO for performing many living composer’s works among the famous dead ones. ☺️
What a super work! I've only just discovered the music of Rouse, have listened to all 6 sympnies and the flute concerto over the last few days, all on RUclips. What a wonderful composer, music that stands out and is so interesting to listen to. Would love to hear some of it in the concert hall. Stunning performance here by the Cincinatti Symphony Orchestra
such a moving finale in the life and times of Christopher Rouse. I had the pleasure of hearing this symphony this weekend performed by the Colorado Symphony. Having lost my wife's mother in December, this piece really resonated with me and my feelings about her passing. incredibly played the CSO under the baton of Maestro Peter Oundjian.

I first met Chris in 1975. What a blessing to have been close to him for so many years. The final movement brings me to tears every time.
