  • In this video, I replace the ignition switch on a 2008 Mustang 4.0. These instructions will work on all 05 to 09 Mustangs. I replaced the ignition switch because the car alarm kept going off and the ECM stated the ignition switch was defective.

Thanks for posting this video. It was very timely for me because my ignition switch started acting up about three weeks ago. I followed your instructions which were very helpful. However, I found my car had the console top sealed down at the factory by melting plastic tabs underneath the door hinge. I was finally able to get to the switch after partially removing the lower dash and also taking out the kick panel and sill plate. Thanks again for your advice. I don’t think I could’ve figured it out on my own.

How can you tell if there bad, swapped engines an now no start at all does nothing when turning key

You will get an engine code if bad. If you don't have a reader, I think autozone loans them out. The best place to start is connecting a scanning and reviewing any error codes.

@@chasingmustangs interesting Ty for your response after inspecting looks like car is blowing 30 amp fuse soon as I turn the key. It’s for starter also.

@mustangaddict589 Check your starter cable. Make sure the nut is not corroded or missing.

@truexkev2737 I would take it back to the mechanic. What you are describing could be bad valve seats as well.
