That probably has a lot to do with the hotel itself being the attraction here. If they don't wow then nobody will come. Disney and even say Quebec city don't have that issue and "luxury" isn't about getting more for your money. It's about milking the VP of Marketing for the North East Region. Who shows up and just expects some sort of token extra like a club to prove they aren't one of the plebes before going and dropping several hundred dollars in the bar every night. Corporate card or no corporate card even, just as long as you bill it to their room for their convenience. The best value for your money will almost never be the top price point.
Can I just say that your travel videos are like putting on a soft warm nice-smelling sweater on a cold day? They're such a lovely feast for the eyes with great cinematography . And sparks my love of travel thinking "I so want to go there". Thanks for another addition. 😁
You have some of the best reviews for these unique hotels and travel experiences. There's no over edited fillers, you have a cool and calm demeaner that explains things well and with heart, and, overall, you are very fair and objective. I can trust your video's to express as unbiased an opinion over your experiences. Thanks for showing off yet another wonderful location.
What I love most about your channel is unlike other travel channels I get the sense of it’s just you and your better half having a great time and letting us know about it the same way you would share your adventures with friends around a dinner table.
This is the most reasonably priced luxury boutique hotel I've seen in years. Sure big cities are expensive, but so can small ones due to lack of hotels as you mentioned. I've seen rooms like that corner one go for thousands of dollars even when they're only slightly better than the default rooms. Definitely makes this place very appealing to visit.
This is what niagara falls should be, not some vegas style hellscape from our collective nightmares, instead a place for quiet luxury and relaxation by the falls.
@@youtubegarbage7876 "Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone They paved paradise, put up a parking lot. (Ooh, bop-bop-bop-bop, ooh, bop-bop-bop-bop").- J. Mitchell. 🌲💓🌲💓🌲💓🌲💓🌲💓🌲💓🌲💓🌲💓
I agree the tourist area of the falls is a vagas-like heck hole, but Niagara Falls doesn't have any industry. Tourism and support is the only thing keeping the city alive
Agreed. It’s a nice change of pace to see high room rates come with actual, complimentary amenities as opposed to nickel-and-dimeing that can even exceed more affordable properties at time.
Wow, a review where you had little to no complaints about it. That's refreshing. In all seriousness, this place does look beautiful and worth the price of admission. I might have to add Elora (and perhaps the Elora Mill Hotel and Spa) to my travel bucket list.
What an amazing video! I never knew the town of Elora even existed. But isn't it just perfect? Seriously, absolutely stunning. The little towns of Canada always blow me away with their beauty and charm.
My husband and I (and our new 2 mo old baby) took a trip to Elora last week after the recommendation of this video and I have to say, if you're watching this and thinking about it, do it! Elora is PERFECT for a long weekend, and in the summer the pool deck is DIVINE. I could have spent two whole days up there AT LEAST not counting the amazing massage I got while there too. They even brought me fresh strawberry gelato while I was laying out! We got one of the river view rooms as recommended, and it was SPARKLING clean. Like amazingly so. Even my shower (which did have a bench in it) was PERFECT. Not a single speck of mildew. The MP steak no longer comes with polenta fries, but instead thinly sliced roasted potatoes pressed flat into a pan and then sliced, ala some recipies i've seen on tiktok. It was so so good, as were the cocktails I had. The town itself is also amazing, with tons of good food options, and TWO whole bookstores! 10/10 trip.
Absolutely no chance I would ever spend that kind of money on a hotel, but is is fascinating to see how other people vacation. Another well-produced effort, you're arguably the best travel channel on the site.
If I would not know this was in Canada I would think its an European town. How they renovated the old mill and incorporate the newer parts makes it look very authentic. That town has been taken care nicely and the developers seem to realize that they need to incorporate atmosphere of the village in to the new buildings. Looks like its going to be one of the go to town in the area and hopefully it stays that way. This is how you do it and the hotel company seems to have got the winning formula.
Always fascinating to learn about small places like this which I’ve never heard about before. I might never stay there but I love to learn the history behind them
Absolutely gorgeous! You are the only person who could tell me in detail about their weekend trip and have my full attention for 15 minutes. Love all the historic perspectives as well as your respect for the people who live near these places.
Been watching both channels of yours for a while now, and realized that I don't need or feel like watching other traveling channels, what I highly appreciate most. Honesty. This is it, top marks.
That's a pretty decent looking hotel with a lovely town surrounding it. Worlds above those corporate resort hotels. You know how theme parks are the attraction to the hotel, the town is the attraction. I am not sure I am getting the full experience from viewing this video, but the town looks laid back and chill. I'd love to experience this someday.
So stoked for this!! I live 30 minutes outside of Elora and it’s so beautiful! You have to come back in the summer and hike down the “restricted” side of the gorge! It’s so peaceful and beautiful wading in the river!! PS Ray Woodey’s chipery makes fantastic pub-style nachos!
I know it would be rare, but it would be nice to see Northeastern Ontario on the Bright Sun Travels channel. Temagami restaurant and hotel, Waterfront Inn in New Liskeard, Cedar Meadows in Timmins, The Station Inn in Cochrane, Park Inn in Kaspuskasing, Queen’s Motel in Hearst, Wawa Motor Inn in Wawa, Cavalier Motel in Cochrane, l’Orée des Bois Motel in Longlac, Marathon Harbour Inn in Marathon, etc
I thoroughly enjoyed your segment on Pearle Hospitality. What an incredible job they've done with so many historic buildings - preserving the history while bringing in the modern & glamour. Would love to stay at one of their properties soon. Fantastic review, Jake
No doubt, seriously, this is absolutely the nicest room you have ever been in that I've seen. This place is amazing and it's equivalent to the nicest hotels I have been in it is beautiful. Thanks so much great content as always you rock period
I went there (just the restaurant, not staying at the hotel) and it was a great experience overall. Small town atmosphere with plenty to see and do. Fantastic for a little weekend trip.
It's nice to know that the customer is still a priority for hotels that aren't the regular run of the mill places . I hope they take care of their staff with what they charge , as under paid and under appreciated staff can and often do make a world of difference . It's always the little things that make the biggest difference as well .
What a lovely video! The hotel and the town are charming. Your suite looked amazing. Another travel adventure with Jake-Perfect. May I also suggest another lovely small boutique hotel-The Bruce-in my hometown of Stratford Ontario. It has a unique story behind it, and is walkable to the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, the Avon River, and downtown. Perhaps one to add to your list. Can't wait to see your cruise videos. Happy travels!
thank you for filming this! i've visited Elora many times over the years and have been so curious to see the inside of the Elora Mill since the construction had finished. amazing work Jake!
As someone who grew up in Elora, its always interesting seeing outside Perspectives of our quant little town. As a kid I remember hearing stories that 'Elora was one of the most beautiful little villages in the province', but being a resident and quite immune to the local charm, I didn't know how much stock I would place in these rumours. Definately, with the rejuvenation of the Mill (and the old Walser Factory across the River), it does (or will) make the downtown core feel more modern. During the 80s-90s, we locals viewed the area more as a Trashy Tourist trap and would avoid it like the plague. And though its still touristy down there, its lost that trashy feel. As a small town person (when I was growing up the population was less than 3000), it does break my heart a bit at the amount of new-ness to the town. It no longer feel like a cozy little village to live in.... but i must agree, with the new energy that has come to the town, it does feel nice walking around and seeeing the new shops that spring up
It is nice to see how the amenities in Elora have been really improved. We stayed there about 30 years ago. The hotel was OK and the dining room had an area where you sit and dine over the falls; the meal was pretty good.A year later we returned, since we enjoyed our stay before. This time everything changed. The dining room and meal was a tremendous disappointment, so we never returned.
An actual quality experience from a Canadian luxury hotel room? I'd lost hope after the embarrassment of Niagara Falls. But wow. this actually looks really worth the price. (I'm speaking as a denizen of the GTA suburbs)

Another great video Jake. As a transplant to Hamilton, I honestly can’t say enough good things about Pearle - the buffet brunch at the Ancaster Mill is easily one of my favourite meals (full stop), and Earth to Table manages to be incredible yet accessible.
I got chills, literally chills, when you mentioned that you could get the experience of being in the kitchen for your meal. Right then and there, I am sold. I don’t care what room I stay in, but dang, I so want to go up there and experience it.

You kept saying “and below that” and then showing and describing beautiful rooms with great perks lol I’d feel like I got a great stay no matter how much I spent.
After this video, I finally discovered what that building was in Niagara Falls, too bad Six Flags didn’t buy it to turn it into Six Flags power plant 2.0
I stayed at the one of their other properties, the Pearle Hotel in Burlington, and was pretty impressed. Those motion sensing lights when you get out of bed are such a great feature. My half asleep mind couldn't understand what was happening when they first turned on.
The first video is from somewhere local to me. It feels so strange to see streets I have walked hundreds of times. Also a strange feeling coming round circle from watching the abandoned series for years now watching your travel videos and seeing home. Great video as always!
I would say I'm very familiar with luxury hotels and I wasn't even familiar with this place and I'm glad I am now. A gorgeous property, so many wonderful details. Will absolutely be following Pearle's projects.
Elora Mill is definitely that girl! Went to the restaurant this summer and had one of the best service at a restaurant. Food was delicious, mood/vibe was just right, and the view of the waterfall was beautiful
Honestly cannot wait for the upcoming videos and i'm glad you mentioned them at the end because I really love this stuff. Found all your channels via this channel first and I cannot find the words to describe how comfortable this video style is. Hell yeah.
I visited the Elora Mill about 25 yrs ago. What a beautiful place then, but really nice to see how it’s grown. You’re right that the condo is an eyesore, but given how well they’ve done with the Mill, I can only hope they did as good a job with the condo.
Grew up here, it’s amazing what they’ve done with the property, very happy to see. I remember going to the old mill for dinner on “special occasions” and it definitely needed this upgrade.
What a rare treat. An upper class hotel delivering an experience worth the price.
