John...I began playing guitar starting 35 years ago...I've always wanted an acoustic 12 string. I've had a Danelectro 12 string electric for about 15 years but it didn't completely satisfy the need. I bought it because it was much cheaper than any decent acoustic 12 string acoustic that I was halfway interested in. Yet, I never have found an acoustic that I felt comfortable with. Then I played one of these Taylors side by side with cheaper and more expensive 12 string acoustic brands and that Taylor just connected. I didn't have the money and hung it back up on the wall. Here's the interesting thing. I've played different examples of that same model Taylor and they all connect with me like that first one did. I've never had that happen with any guitar, bass or mandolin. Thank you for the review as it validated everything that I had experienced with that Taylor model example I've tried since that first one earlier this year. I'm finding a way to get the money together.
Thanks John , great great review ...so I bought one and so happy and satisfied of it ...! You gave me hope to play well with time ...! Thanks again and happy 2015 to you and yours ! Gilles
I am looking for a 12 string. When you said the back and sides were laminated that turned me off. Going to look somewhere else. Thank you for your honesty!
I get somewhat annoyed by manufacturers and promotors calling guitars around the 1000 dollar/euro mark 'very affordable'. Sure, it's not 3000 but just because there are ridiculously priced guitars out there doesn't make this price range cheap. For most people, 900 bucks is still a lot of money. I certainly did not have that type of money readily on the shelf when I was a youngster.
It sounds like you're tuned to E. Have you tried tuning a 12 down to D? I've been playing 12 string for years and usually use D tuning. It not only makes it a lot easier to fret but also brings it into a lower male singing range. Then if you want E just use a good quality capo on the 2nd fret. It's also fun using a capo higher up on a 12 making it sound mandolin like.
Should I get this or the 456ce? Is there any sound difference between the two? I'd hate to buy the cheapest guitar in the line from a company. Sounds really good though and stays in tune good too?
Good demo but some of the playing is way to hard and aggressive making the strings slap.. Lighten up a bit and your demos will gather more intrigue. Great Demo though it does bring out the full tone.
+Thomas “Slim Pickens” Turek I don't agree, I like to see a guitar being made to work out with some hard strumming, in too many demos the strings are just stroked, giving no idea of tone. There's also some hard and soft playing in this demo. A good demo, thanks.
Great review. One question, how long do you spend in front of a mirror to get that hair done and especially that face expression? LOL. Just kidding. Thanks for the review :)
I swear. i don't know how taylor does it. 6 string, 12 string, mahogany, maple or walnut they always manage to have that 'Can of sprite' Fizz. Almost identical. I guess theyre consistent in that way but its just such a sackless tone. no balls. maybe easy mixx???? for some reason people love these things
@@TheWhaleAndWhasp Hey Dane, i used to have Ibanez 12 strings and i have a GARRISON 12 string. My latest buy was a Taylor, i had to go back to the shop twice for a setup ,it was'nt playable. Verry hi action and not tuneble. Then i went to a luthier , he looked at it shaking his head. He worked on it and made it better, but it will never be the same class as the Ibanez or GARRISON. I think i just have a little bad luck ,for buying this specific Taylor, the guy that approved this one leaving the factory had a verry bad day or maybe he was drunk 🤪🤪 Never buying a Taylor again, just to not remind me of this one. Best playing I've seen from John, fantastic stuff

Just bought this 12 string Taylor , love it
I just bought one for my dad. I think he likes it. He's played the same ovation 12 string for about 40 years.
Double real good. The guitar. And the playing!
I have it. I absolutely love it 👍

I'd like to see a John Bohlinger rig rundown.
Sturmbannführer Toht learn to spell idiot

Usgamemaker Indeed, you are an idiot. Take a grammar lesson, you idiot.
That's a lot coming from a asshat who can't spell suck!!!

PathfinderDave1 righteous! thanks you
Excellent, amazing suggestion!
I want this guitar!!!! :) great playing John!!
Deathrape2001 What is N E?
Why hasn't anyone done a shootout between this and the Martin equivalent?
Good video.. How 'bout neck specs? Thickness and Radius.
Bahaha what's written on your hand John? Also, this sounds great plugged in. Also pretty good unplugged (was a bit surprised by this).
I think I wrote "record Taylor Video Today."
Great Review!
is the neck really sapele? i thought all their necks were mahogany.
According to Taylor, the 150 is made entirely of Sapele and Sitka Spruce. The neck, so I've read, is sapele.
thanks for the response, love your reviews and videos!
Hey, very, very, very, good playing!!!
Can anyone tell me what is the name of the song he is playing?
Love the sound

Neurotripsicks 456ce!
How does this compare to the 562?
Great Guitar and Player!!
Is the battery compartment on the inside or outside?
Outside, just behind the output jack/strap button.
Great demo! The only idiots that left negative comments must surely be competitors or people who thought you were flipping them the bird. lmao

Laminate i thought so.. very very very sad Taylor are using it. It seems to dull the tone. Thanks for the demo
Put a capo on that 12 and play Here Comes the Sun the right way. :0)
That was pure sacriledge!
7th fret, dummy.
@@ColonelPaynus i think he meant 12 string not fret
Great!

Sounds to heavy in the mids for my ear.
Strange, it's like I was looking for the mirror image of what you like! I'm looking for that dreamy midrange shimmer, most 12s sound too tinny to me
Little over the budget but... well ill try
🤠

Taylor > Martin
FuckYouWhosNext fuckyeah!
I have the same guitar
Do you recommend it ?
too bad he played the song wrong
Post your video of you 0laying it correctly then. Or does that mouth run more than your legs do?
The worst guitar i ever had.
why? and what others do you have?
