- Save £100 by changing your tap cartridge valve yourself.
All modern taps are the same - so this video is not specific for Franke Olympus.
The cartridge can be bought from many retailers for less than £15 each. For example, www.tapsandsinksonline.co.uk/...

Once you have unscrewed the screw under the tap with an Allan key, you can tap gently on the tap (probably just tight and stuck) and it should come out.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks- worked perfectly
yea ok, how do you get the tap handles off? tried everything they won't budge.
Nice video thank you
The valve cover for my hot tap won't budge. The valve cover for the cold tap unscrewed quite easily. Any suggestions. I've tried WD40.
My basin mixer tap is a Franke Olympus tap and recently started leaking from Spout.
I have purchased the replacement O ring parts but I am unable to unscrew it and cannot remove the Spout.
Also, the tap is dripping So I tried to remove the handle and look into the cartridge if it needs to be replaced. But when I removed its screw the stiffed cold handle and the cover of the cartridge does not move clockwise or anti-clockwise at all.
Any idea of how to loosen it and which tool can unscrew it without a scratch or denting it.
Regards
Ali
Thanks for the video.
It is supposed to say spanners though, not spammers. :-)
Glad able to help! Thanks to auto spelling correct thinking spammers can fix a tap! Yes, it should say spanners.
I've taken the allen key nut out off the handle but it wont come off. It is sold. Any suggestions?
+Nikki Rogers if the Allen key is removed then it should come off easily. If still stuck, probably due to lime scale or rust. I'd knock it with something soft to loosen it or maybe use a bit of wd40 to loosen the rust (but you might have problem getting the wd40 inside). Good luck.
I got seasick watching the video! LOL! Sorry! :-( Still not sure where the hidden screw for he Allen key is. In the end I got a mate to do it for a couple of pints. We are both happy now! :-)
Could'n't get the housing off. :-(
+Simon Turner . Did you remove the small screw underneath the housing with an Allen key? If so. Maybe some wd40 to loosen the rust. Good luck
@@easydiyco9729 Thanks. I got it off in the end using some water pump pliers (and a tea towl to protect the cover).
Doesn't work on a Franke Doric filter tap. Will not dis assemble. Got to buy a new unit and that wont be a Franke
