This is what RUclips is for. Quality content, thank you so much. You have a very nice and enjoyable way of presenting your thoughts! Also, stellar work of yourself at the end. Kind regards, Santosh
For anyone in the UK, the largest ever Saul Leiter exhibition (to come to the UK) is now open for viewing at Milton Keynes Gallery. Definitely worth the visit! (Milton Keynes is about 30 minutes from London by train! or a 40 minute drive :) )
Haas taught in Yosemite with Ansel and when one student kept praising his Leica, Haas had finally had enough and uttered one of my favorite camera quotes: Leica Schmeica. It is appropriate with Ansels quote : the most important part of the camera is the 12" behind it. My corollary to that is the second most important part of the camera is the 12" ahead of it, the lens.
I'm always inspired by Ernst Haas, just so artistic and different he mastered so many genres of photography. Of course he started as an artist in Europe. Saul is from Pittsburgh like me so I have an affinity for his work!
A nice video about street photography in the real sense of the word. Quite far more encouraging and inspiring than seeing videos about the top five cameras for street photography.
Rupert, so glad to see Ernst Haas first up, a multi genre photographer and oh so talented. Glad to see the others too and your own work is a joy to look at.. Subscribed & liked.
Thank you for sharing those brilliant photographers. As an amateur photographer who doesn't know many great photographers, It's always good to know more about them and it also reminds me of a few I know to think about their masterpieces again. Been watching your videos for quite a while, I am enjoying and learning a lot. Thanks Rupert.
I’m no photographer but I appreciate it. Especially the great street photographers. I feel as though today too many “steet photographers“ are deemed a success when they don’t hold a candle to these greats. Put aside the nostalgia of historical representations. The greats had a gift for composition and perhaps their less wittingly subjects lent a hand, but overall, it was a matter of pure artistry. What happened?
This was an excellent overview. I hadn’t heard of three of these photographers, but I was really happy to hear about their work and will follow up. Thank you!
Thanks for this selection, particularly drawing my attention to Harry Gruyaert, whose name but not work I knew. I immediately ordered a copy of a book of his photos, one the excellent, inexpensive Photofile series by Thames & Hudson. My goodness Gruyaert's photos are stunning. I think I'll be buying the book you feature very soon...
Thanks, a couple of guys I was unfamiliar with. Haas is such an outstanding color SP, his mantra " your best zoom is your feet," a reminder to get as close as possible.
Thanks for this content, as always interesting! 👏👏 Really a nice selection, I love all 5 of these, and by the way I knew Metzker very little but I will try to deepen the photography of him. And congratulations for your shots, we see that these great photographers have inspired you very well 🙂
How do you feel about the characteristics of the cameras these photographers used in relation to modern equipment? Do you like seeing recreation of the nostalgic qualities or are you more interested in exploring the boundaries possible with modern camera features and color capabilities?
I have a copy of the Steidal version in virtually mint condition. Cost me a kidney! So much for trading margarine 😂😂😂 For sale now if anyone is interested?!
I am a photographer, and it is likely that I am very ignorant, but for me, street photography is the most indecipherable and scarce of virtues within this art. I have never been able to find one that makes me think "this is a great work of art". Shooting through a wet window, a flock of out-of-focus pigeons, a guy walking on the sidewalk or some shadows reflected in a showcase are photographs that even my grandmother could have taken. I can't believe this style is considered an art!
In fact, you sound just like my father discussing Paul Klee or Matisse. The paintings of those two old adversaries Adolf and Winston far more to his ‘taste’!
Excellent presentation wonderfully presented. I loved your photos, too, can't wait to see more of them. Thank you.

I LOVE your b/w work at the end! No need to be humble here.
Just the type of channel I've been looking for!
I live on that exact intersection of the Ernst Haas Route 66 photo.
Excellent video! You can definitely see the influences of these 5 photographers in your photos.
What an excellent group you've selected. Thank you.

I have to say that Haas and Leiter are my favorites. Haas being on top. Amazing. Thanks for this video!
You posted this video over a year ago now but I just want to say a huge thank you for doing it, this was so enjoyable and well paced.

Grand work my friend! Greetings from Texas.
Very nice video and very nice photography of yours. both very inspiring.
Excellente video comme à l'accoutumée ! Merci de partager vos pygmalions avec nous.
Thank you, and I very much enjoyed your work also.
3:45 I was under the impression that Harry Callahan only shot with Magnum 44. What a nice surprise to hear that he also shot photography.
Hey! Absolutely love the selection of your own work... Conveys loneliness and quiet contemplation. Your work with shadows is rather brilliant.
Thank you for sharing your insights on these great photographers
Thank you so much for this. PS Your photos are inspiring.

Enjoyed. Very much. Thank you.
I was able to get a book of Ernst Haas' photography from my library. His work really speaks to me.
I like your work. The embracing couple photo is stunning.
Your images are extraordinary

Great video, shows the power of photography when practiced by those who understand it best. Humbling.

The Photofile book is very good, I have it too. They produce nice, affordable editions.

追 誤記、ハーストは HAAS ハースでした。訂正しお詫びします。
If you can see why he took those pictures, you're looking at them properly.
How can you not include Trent Parke?
👋👋👋👋👋👋
if you're be on mind with saul leiter, you don't need the rest!
color correction is very expensive.400$ and for hard cover is even more expensive around 1200$.
I have a copy of the Steidal version in virtually mint condition. Cost me a kidney! So much for trading margarine 😂😂😂
For sale now if anyone is interested?!
Could you please say what's camera do you use for taking photos?
See this video... ruclips.net/video/R1tTOKYUPVw/видео.html
It may be a matter of taste, but I find your work to be every bit as good (and in some cases better) than the great artists you've presented here>
good. 綺麗でいいけど、力がない。ストリートなのか、時代なのか・・・ ハースト以外四人は知らなかった、thank you.
