I lost my father when I was 11 and my mother when I was 14. Father was an heart attack and mother from breast cancer. I am now almost sixty. The pain never goes away but becomes part of you and you just go on because there no other choice. There will be joys and sadness you won't be able to share but at least you have your brother to share life with and currently your mother. Your message almost a plea was charisma those love while you have them and have no regrets. The message is event more important during this pandemic. A note about this song and the video: Marko actually released the Finnish version of this album first. The music video was shot during that first release. The English lyric video is the background of the original music video. But enough about the technical stuff. This song is so beautiful and sad, but also hopeful. My father is such a huge part of my life, that when I hear this song, I think about what will happen when he’s gone, what will I do then? Even as a mother, I wonder about my kids and what they will feel when I’m gone. I cry every time I hear this song. I am so sorry for your loss Chase and the pain you are still going through. My grandfather passed away last year, and I know my dad is still grieving his passing. We all are. He was a tough old bird until the end when he passed at 92 years old. One of my best friends died of a drug overdose over 10 years ago...and that pain is still there. People will say, “well, at least they are no longer in pain or suffering.” But that doesn’t make the pain any better. But I think Marko in this song is telling us that though they are gone, and the pain is never easy and never goes away, those we love the most aren’t ever really gone. They are within us, and maybe, just maybe that can help us move forward in our own lives and live our lives for those who are no longer here on this mortal coil. Thank you this video. I’m glad i reconnected with my dad after 2 years of silence and anger. He is an old man and I don’t know how much time we have left. We are such a fragile and beautiful beings, let’s take care of each other. Love is all that matters in the end.

For anyone who’s lost a parent especially recently: This sounds obvious but it’s so very important. Let the pain out. I’m not a cryer but when my mom died last year I locked myself in the garage with a pillow and sobbed and screamed myself raw several times and finally started to feel somewhat normal again. It was so quick. She was fine then gone. The message Chase left is very real.

My grandfather passed away last year, and I know my dad is still grieving his passing. We all are. He was a tough old bird until the end when he passed at 92 years old. One of my best friends died of a drug overdose over 10 years ago...and that pain is still there. People will say, “well, at least they are no longer in pain or suffering.” But that doesn’t make the pain any better. But I think Marko in this song is telling us that though they are gone, and the pain is never easy and never goes away, those we love the most aren’t ever really gone. They are within us, and maybe, just maybe that can help us move forward in our own lives and live our lives for those who are no longer here on this mortal coil.

Chase, you have my fullest respect for sharing this very emotional moment with us. My dad shot himself on my 16th birthday and although it’s now 18 years ago I was crying with you while watching. The pain fades when time goes by, but you never heal completely. My father was all in about classic music and I bet he would’ve loved Nightwish. That’s one more reason (as if there weren’t enough already 😄) why this band is so special for me.

My dad also committed suicide 14 years ago, but I rememmber the phone call so vividly, as if it were yesterday. I believe he battled depression for YEARS, but never sought help for it, and that's what led to him shooting himself. I took it hard, my sister even more so...
@@angelisreal big similarities here! I remember every second of that phonecall and how everything went silent for a while and time seemed to move in slow-mo. The first clear thought was „fuck, how am I gonna tell my sister?“ she loved him to pieces.

My father was just diagnosed with cancer. This song already had meaning to me because of his playing guitar and singing as I grew up. The diagnosis and your tale just hammers it home harder. I was getting texts from Mom about his oncologist visit as I was watching this at work today.

Called my 88 year old grandfather right after watchin this video. He doesn’t have much time left and it felt really good to talk, listen and tell him that I love him and I cherish the wonderful memories he gave me in my childhood.
I didn't have a close relationship with my father, and when he passed away over ten years ago I really did not miss him much. Now, with my kids growing up fast, I sometimes have these feelings of yearning, kind of wishing he would be here to see my kids... This was a bad reaction video for me to watch, I cried. A lot. I’m not a cryer but when my mom died last year I locked myself in the garage with a pillow and sobbed and screamed myself raw several times and finally started to feel somewhat normal again. It was so quick. She was fine then gone. The message Chase left is very real.
