Yeah they didn't shoot a new video for the English version so they just used the same one from the original Finnish version and blurred it so you can't see he is singing in Finnish ;) Highly recommend you check the original Finnish version as well.
It’s kind of depressing that the explanation of who Marko is has to be put in black and white. I don’t particularly care for reactors who can’t be bothered to Google anything and expect their audience to educate them. Lazy fucks.
“He looks like the guitar player from Nightwish” 😂 almost there, he’s the bassist 🤣 if you want to see that double neck bass in action, check out “the islander” in Nightwish’s concert in Tampere’s (same concert that had the greatest show on earth)
For those unaquainted with Nightwish, it is far better to see the actual Official Video of this, not the live version, in my humble opinion. The Official Video has visuals that help tell the story of the lyrics that is lost with the live version. I would recommend seeing the Official Video first, then the live version, then they get a far better feel for the song.
Keep in mind that Marko is both bass and guitar player - and if you look carefully, you'll notice that in many NW songs he actually plays the acoustic guitar parts, hence the double neck guitar-bass combo 😎
Marco also has feature songs with Nightwish. The Islander live at Tempere, While Your Lips Are Still Red from Wembley, their Pink Floyd cover High Hopes...
Marco wrote this. He also wrote nightwish songs like The islander and While your lips are stil red. Islander live at Tampere and the lips is at Wembley live. Such a beatifull song.
This IS Marko from Nightwish, in a side project of his own. The reason the video is blurred and doesn't really sync with the music is that the song was originally sung in Finish and they had to rework/rearrange it a bit for the translation. Also, where the written lyrics say 'song' it should say 'son'. Cheers for the nice reaction. 🤘
The original version is out but it is in Finnish. It sounds a bit better than this translation. Search for Delain featuring Marko Hietala to hear him with Charlotte Wessels. She is another one of the Dutch singers similar to Floor Jansen and Simone Simons. Marko's new album is called Pyre of the Black Heart and is out under the Nuclear Blast label. There is a Finnish version and a later English version.
This is Marko Hietala the bass player and singer from Nightwish!!! :D So good that you reacted to this song, it´s such a beautiful one! So many colours in his voice!! You should react to Nightwish - The Islander live at Tampere 2015, where Marko is the lead singer for the song!!! Thank you for the reaction. Cheers!
Luckily I had the chance to see them live before shutdown. In a small cozy club with about 300 people. Not the usual 15000 people venues Marko usually plays at with Nightwish. The concert was amazing.
He is playing is a custom made Warwick/Framus doubleneck bass/electric guitar, based on the Warwick Infinity.and he is really proud of it, you can see him play it (and sing) on The Islander from Wembley. Marko's father used to sing to him and his twin brother at bed time, and this song is a tribute to his Father. Marko is consider as one of the great ones in the Finnish Metal Scene, and have (as far as I remember) been in two groups "Tarot" that got its and "Nothern Kings". Marko (54) is also older than the other members of Nightwish and as you mentiones it shows in the mature. Tarot got its first Record deal in 1986. Marko have said that his influences are Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath) as a Bassist and Dio & Rob Hallord as Vocalists.
mormacil Reading them wrong, there is nothing such thing in these lyrics, here is quite an accurate translation lyricstranslate.com/en/isäni-ääni-my-fathers-voice.html
As everyone already mentioned, this is Marko, who is the bassist in Nightwish. He is not only affectionately known as "The Voice of Finland", because he was actually out there and popular prior to Nightwish forming, but is a killer frontman/singer in his own right. This was a solo project he did between Nightwish albums, and recently on their "Decades" tour in S. America, was the opening act for Nightwish, so he played a double billing. As for singing, not only does he sing with Floor, but she was also his vocal coach at one time. For this album, he took heavy influence from Ronnie James Dio. You could take Dio and have him fill in on this entire album, and it would sound exactly the same, and that's high praise for both Marko and Dio. For more of his solo work, I'd say to check out the video for "Stones", which was his next single off of this album. It's that good.
Guys...he is Marco Hietala - more known from Nightwish - awesome bass player, guitarist and male vocalist for them. This is his solo project outside NW and he wrote this all. I think he lost his father and this is about it.
Marko's last name is pronounced "Hee-eh-tala" at least as nearly as I can tell. And yes, he's Nightwish's bass player. Good Nightwish songs in which Marko sings lead include "Phantom of the Opera" from The End of an Era ( duet with Tarja), their cover of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" from the same show, then "While Your Lips Are Still Red" from Wembley and "The Islander" from Tampere. That last is the one where he earned his "Floor Jansen Is My Backup Singer" tee shirt. :-)
That song is from Marco’s solo album ‘Pyre of the Black Heart’, which was released early this year. He wrote the album’s songs with a couple of collaborators. 😄🤘
This definitely has a “this is my father’s armor, the better to protect me; this is my father’s sword, the better to cut down my enemies,” vibe. Very nice reaction to Marco’s song. The feelz. 😊 I hadn’t heard this one yet and now it’s one of my favs. Thanks guys!
First I've heard this song, but love it soooo much. Yea, Marko! Thanks for introducing this to me. He has written some really great songs as listed below. Great reaction, as usual. Stay safe. Ron
It is Marko Hietala, bass payer from Nightwish. But he has a solo career too. Marko is a great singer. You'll find in Nightwish him singing balads as "While Your Lips Are Still Red" and "The Islander" or a great Pink Floyd cover of "High Hopes". Marko's solo work or colab with "The Northern Kings" has him singing a metal version of "In The Air Tonight" (Phil Collins) and "Take On Me" (A-HA). Or you'll find Marko singing "Ave Maria" in a Christmas special.
LOL...you’ve seen him up close! Marko is the bass player for Nightwish...the guy who sings with Floor. He sings lead on a few Nightwish songs, too, like The Islander live at Tampere, and Kiss While Your Lips Are Still Red live at Wembley.
The best way to find new music, find someone that reacts on music. Find someone you like to lissen to, for me its kind of given, the wolf hunterz. Main reason is the smiles, the possitives. If you have a crap day( like my last 2 weeks been...) put on a reaction with them, or one of their songs, then challange yourself to NOT smile. I know someone will always will have it worse than me, but to smile, you guys makes my day easier. Thank you guys. Much love ❤
You guys want to see Marko's range watch " Marko Hietala voice evolution 1986-2017" It's very cool! He does a FANTASTIC Iron Maiden voice! And it shows pictures of him as he grew up.
Yes, this is the Marko who has Floor Jansen as his backing vocalist (in some Nightwish songs - more often their roles are reversed) :-) Now THAT would be a t-shirt to get a reaction!
Marko sings lead on the final song on the new Nightwish album, it is an absolutely fantastic and haunting piece of art, drop this into youtube search: NIGHTWISH - Endlessness (Official Lyric Video)
Come on guys..you must recognize Marko by now😁 our brilliant bass player from Nightwish and a fantastic singer..and Marko wrote this song..stay safe guys🤘❤️
This is the Bass Player and male vocalist from Nightwish you like so much, Marko Hietala. It is not uncommon for members of Nightwish to have a side project, this just happen to be Marko's. The reason it was blurred is because it is a lyric video, and because the original version is in Finnish.
Marko rocks, be it with Nightwish, his own band Tarot (unfortunately in hiatus since 2016 when their drummer died), solo or as a quest with bands like Delain, Avantasia & Ayreon. When MArko and his brother Zachary were children, their father used to sing to them. He also introduced them to different types of music & probably also taught them English as he was an English teacher by profession., P.S. Here's Marko with the same band live: MARKO HIETALA - Death March For Freedom (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO) ruclips.net/video/wn18pYB58-U/видео.html
Like everyone else: Marko Hietala (Hee-Tah-La) is the bass player of Nightwish. Like all band members, he has side projects. This is of his latest solo album, which was originally in Finnish, but was also translated into English (with the help of Troy from Nightwish). It should be noted that Marko was already a well known singer from his time with his own band called 'Tarot' before joining Nightwish. About the song being written by a 'mature' person, Marko is in his 50s, so you got that right. This is another song from the same album, perforned live from his short European solo tour in early 2020: ruclips.net/video/XTuVCe_YEUs/видео.html I saw this show live and it was amazing.
On your Mature comment: Marko turned 54 this past January and until Troy came along, was the old man of Nightwish (Troy is a couple years older iirc maybe just one)
I mean he did win the Finnish version of the masked singer. I was like yeah I'll pick Marco no worries but nope I had no idea until I clicked on a link specifically was him & I'm like omg.
The original is in Finnish and it is haunting. Also, a quick side note, a fan blended the two versions together and it is amazing. Gabriel Bardac is the guys name. The blended version is really good. Thank you for reacting to this. It was cute you didn't realize it was "that" Marko. haha.
Marko has done work with the Powerless Trio as well. Can be found on YT. Good stuff. There is a huge amount of good stuff in Northern Europe that we just never hear about, and that's a shame.
Marco has been a lead vocalist/ bassist in his original band Tarot since 1985 . Watch one of Tarot's live performances. I suggest the songs Crows Fly Back or Tides from the live special Undead Indeed in 2009. Or if you want to see a very young Marco watch the video for Wings of Darkness by Tarot . It was made in 1986.
Lol, I never knew the name of that song, tbh. I just put the CD on in the car and listen to it all the time. Never looked at the names of the songs, lol...
marco- nightwish. marko- single artist :). wow thanx you react this song even dont know nightwish connection. why blur this video, coz this was finnish language original sing. they make whole album finnish language and then english language same songs. that marco/marko is talent man have to say. this song is very beautiful song all the fathers in world, thanx somebody remember them too. ok thanx and have great day both of you,i like your poet and the pendulum reaction too.
That is Marcos own custom made double neck (bass guitar and guitar in one basically) You got me abit giggly at the beginning. I wondered "dont they realize its Marco from Nightwish???". Its his solo project, where he uses his full name. He has his own band btw,all blurred out they just look similar to Nightwish. Thats why i suggested Tuomas Holopainen - A Lifetime Of Adventure, after The Poet And The Pendulum. Because that video will cheer you up again with regards to Tuomas. They all got amazing solo albums, where they go far away from the typical Nightwish sound. Floors duo Northward is all out rock n roll, and my absolute favourite! Im a big supporter of Jørn Viggo Loftstad (second half of Northward) and his band Pagan`s Mind too (another underrated band that has been trying to get a breakthrough for years)
As the bass player and singer in many Nightwish songs Marko has his own style in writing songs that differ from Tuomas' style he puts in Nightwish songs. By the way Marko has also written some Nightwish songs.
As commented, he is from Nightwish and you really should check out the islander from Tampere to have a better look at the guitar/bass combo and of course his absolutely stunning performance. And as said check also Tarot, his other band, they started in the eighties so YEAH, the one who wrote this song is not a boy as you were correctly feeling, he is Marko himself and he is "experienced in life", over 50 years old 😁 you wouldn't believe it when seeing him on stage 🔥🔥🔥
Yes, it's Marko, he's amazing. Interesting fact, there is a video from about 10 years ago with Marko singing and playing guitar to Jukka's (the old Nightwish drummer) infant daughter. It's really sweet. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/qow2_eZrXOc/видео.html
Another singer you may like is JP Leppäluoto. He's from Finland, is a close friend of Marko and Floor, and he has a very unique baritone voice. He's done a lot of work in both Finnish and English. For his English work I recommend anything by his first band Charon, or the song "I Once Had Wings" by Dark Sarah (unfortunately audio only, since no good quality live video exists). For his Finnish work, his song "Kuoppa" shows his range quite well, as well as the song he sings with Raskasta Joulua called "Tonttu". The live videos aren't the best quality, but here's one from a few months ago that's decent enough. ruclips.net/video/guESKFZ_4S8/видео.html
Yes, this is Marco Hietala (He- etala) from Nightwish. This song is from his recent solo record "Pyre of a Black Heart". He is out of focus because this song was originally released sung in Finnish. I guess they wanted so save some $$. It would have looked like a Japanese karate movie with the words out of sync. Marco is a big star in Finland. Heavy metal is played everywhere on the radio. It is officially the music of Finland. Marco is not a kid anymore. He started his musical career as lead singer for a band called Tarot back in the late 80's. He is currently 54 years old. He loves the old early hard rock/metal. You 2 should check out a more up tempo rocker he did from this CD called "Stones". This one is in focus. See my link. ruclips.net/video/ifc3gBsM6B0/видео.html - Stones
So, you weren't even aware that you were watching the official lyric video. I must make a note of your channel so that if I ever feel bummed out, I will know where to come for some comic relief.
you can also see and hear Marco Hietala, the Badass Bass Player from Nightwish in his original Band, Tarot where he's still playing : ruclips.net/video/xD1q21dr8tw/видео.html and in Northen Kings, a supergroup made up of four well known Finnish musicians who make cover of 80's songs like "take on me" : ruclips.net/video/GkHJRrMwmSQ/видео.html
I recommed to react Tarot, Marko's older band! For example live version of 'Tides' and music video of 'Wings of darkness'. There's two versions of Wings of darkness, check out especially older music video from the 80's. You may be shocked how Marko looked like back then! 😃😁
Another side project from the Nightwish band is AURI. A trio of Tuomas with his wife Johanna, and Troy from Nightwish. They have released one album: ruclips.net/video/dvBU60VBvLQ/видео.html
He aren't boy anymore. Band called Tarot was his first that released album back in 1986. You could React next to Marko Hietala - Stones (Offical music video) ruclips.net/video/ifc3gBsM6B0/видео.html
This video is blurred cause it’s orginally in finnish. Go see the original ”Isäni ääni”.
Much more interesting, by the way.
I prefer the finnish Version too. Its much better in my opinion.
Passion and emotion are stronger in Finnish version. Also lyrics are more deeper.
Yeah they didn't shoot a new video for the English version so they just used the same one from the original Finnish version and blurred it so you can't see he is singing in Finnish ;) Highly recommend you check the original Finnish version as well.
they could have blurred just his mouth
Yeah guys.... This is Marko, the bassist from Nightwish doing his solo thing. He's a badass!! Rock on and stay heavy!!
basist and singer in Nightwish ;)
And one of the Northern Kings^^
@@MsStecarl Best singer in Nightwish.
and in tarot and raskasta joulua etc.....
Marco is the bass player in NIGHTWISH. He has, and does, a good deal of off season solo work.
bassplayer and also solo singer 🌹 you should check out Nightwish "the Islander" or "While your lips are still red"
Or a song of Tarot...
He is also one of the pioneers of Finnish metal with his band Tarot (1982-).
Listen this Song on Finnish language ..words are so mutch Deaper and beautiful...reasion i know IS i Am from Finland too

Im a big supporter of Jørn Viggo Loftstad (second half of Northward) and his band Pagan`s Mind too (another underrated band that has been trying to get a breakthrough for years)
as Gary Ballard said - try that song Nightwish - The Islander - live at Tampere
It is Marko
It is Marco singing from night wish !!!!!
Marco also sings and plays bass in Tarot. Check out wings of darkness :p pure 80s out your eyes
As the bass player and singer in many Nightwish songs Marko has his own style in writing songs that differ from Tuomas' style he puts in Nightwish songs. By the way Marko has also written some Nightwish songs.
Stones, you will not be disappointed.
I cannot believe these guys watched this all the way through and did not figure out. It was Marco from night wish.
Here's the link:

The official music video for this is in Finnish. It's called Isäni Ääni.
Original lyrics of The Voice Of My Father song by Marko Hietala.

Check out some of the live footage from tour for this album, it's very cool 🤘
So, you weren't even aware that you were watching the official lyric video. I must make a note of your channel so that if I ever feel bummed out, I will know where to come for some comic relief.
Marco wrote this song and it is dedicated for his father who passed away.
you can also see and hear Marco Hietala, the Badass Bass Player from Nightwish in his original Band, Tarot where he's still playing : ruclips.net/video/xD1q21dr8tw/видео.html
and in Northen Kings, a supergroup made up of four well known Finnish musicians who make cover of 80's songs like "take on me" : ruclips.net/video/GkHJRrMwmSQ/видео.html
He make this song.. for his dead father..
A good thing about not knowing it's Marko from Nightwish is that there's no bias but the song is judged for itself.
Yeah, you guys need to do DELAIN (feat. Marco Heitala) "The Gathering" (Masters of Rock 2017)
"hey he looks like that guy from nightwish" bit similatr, how the drummer of nirvana looks like the singer of foo fighters :P
Or like Chris Cornell sounds a lot like soundgarden's singer. Lol
Check out markos band Tarot and the song wings of darkness . hes been making music since the 80s
It is called a bass. It just has a guitar attached
I recommed to react Tarot, Marko's older band! For example live version of 'Tides' and music video of 'Wings of darkness'. There's two versions of Wings of darkness, check out especially older music video from the 80's. You may be shocked how Marko looked like back then! 😃😁
I didn't know there was an English version of this
Travis, how is your bike able to move now?
Marko is 54 years old.
Another side project from the Nightwish band is AURI. A trio of Tuomas with his wife Johanna, and Troy from Nightwish. They have released one album: ruclips.net/video/dvBU60VBvLQ/видео.html
He wrote this and he is the member of nightwish
He aren't boy anymore. Band called Tarot was his first that released album back in 1986.
