There is so much emotion in his singing 🎶🔥😍

Before I knew the translation, I understood the emotions! Honestly, music can transcend language and Marko delivers a perfect example here.

🇫🇮❤ Marko's father was an English teacher, but also a music lover. He used to sing lullabies to Marko & his younger brother Zachary. He also had a huge music collection that introduced his two sons to many types of music.
P.S. For more solo Marko with Nightwish, check out "NIGHTWISH - The Islander (LIVE AT TAMPERE)".

Thank you so much for reacting to this lovely song. There is just something about Marko's voice, for me, at least, that wraps you in comfort and lifts you up at the same time. Finnish is such a beautiful language and I am very glad that you chose to listen to it first in that language.

I totally concur, love Marko singing this song in Finnish. He wrote and recorded the entire album in both English and Finnish. In English, it is The voice of my father. From what I understand, it is personal to Marko, as his father sang to him, and he started singing as well. The English version is good but lacks some of the emotion I think.

Ahh, Finnish and our signature rolling Rrs 😄 I think one of the reasons why many people like to listen to Finnish singing, even if they don't know the language at all, is probably because Finnish is really poetic language. We have official Finnish and spoken Finnish which are two different things. With spoken Finnish you can basically break every grammar rule there is, combine words and do almost whatever you want. Our best comedian Ismo have made lot of jokes about this behaviour. What it means to the song lyrics is that you can make these lines which flow like some really epic and old poem.

Thank you very much for the beautiful reaction. "Pyre of the black heart" album is something ethereal for me, it blew my mind when it came out. So many layers, emotions, I just LOVE everything about this album, music-wise and lyrics-wise. Well, maybe I'm a bit biased, because I'm a huge Marko fan since Tarot 😅
Btw: I strongly recommend you to give a listen to "I dream" and "Truth Shall Set You Free" from this album. Each song is great by itself, but together they hit even harder.

It's great that you're buring yourself into Marko's solo work. All Nightwish artists have also so much to offer also outside of the band.
Fun fact: In the beginning, Nightwish was the opening band for Marko's band Tarot (which he founded with his brother Zachary). According to Marko, they had no experience, they did not know how to dress or even move on stage. They seemed very uncertain to him. But after two years, a completely different band took the stage. Nightwish worked on themselves a lot. Therefore, Later, therefore, he was happy to accept their offer to join the band.
BTW: since English is not my mother tongue, I never understand any lyrics unless it's in Czech. I always read the lyrics later.

I've had the same "problem," but I have noticed that in the last few years, I've actually started to understand better and better, lyrics that are in English. It's still harder than in Finnish.

    • @PetraPola
      @PetraPola 2 месяца назад +1

@@tuuli4002 It's getting better for me too, but I still don't understand most of it and I need to read the lyrics separately. It's much easier with songs I already know. Hopefully one day I will understand everything.

Thank you! Kiitos!😉 I love this song! It is really beautiful.
But there is always something special about a singer singing in their native language.... no matter how good they are singing in English.
I, also, prefer this Finnish version. It feels like it has more emotions and it suits it better. (That could just be because Finnish is my mother tongue and I believe this song was originally written in Finnish).
I love your appreciation for the Finnish language. It makes me really happy to hear that people think it's a beautiful language.🥰

Marko has a softer more reflective side. This is him recalling how is father voice calls out to him and lives within himself. Worth checking out the English version. Don't push your self too hard. 🙏🙏🌹🌹🦋🦋

I really like your "Marko" reactions, he's great!
    I have a suggestion:
    Marko Hietala - Two Soldiers
(live in Buenos Aires 3/3/2024, on a tour Marko did with Tarja Turunen)
    ruclips.net/video/K-KpuofYFNQ/видео.htmlsi=GBgpOchdVBrKqfgb
This is a "unreleased song", it will be on the next "Marko Hietala" - solo project album (coming next year 2025), but he's done it live on few tours already, with his guitarist & friend Tuomas Wäinölä (also the guitarist in "Isäni Ääni" video). It's beautiful IMHO and it's acoustically done.
