He starts singing very softly. That is the type of voice that Marko didn't really use in Nightwish. Later on he did use it more in his solo album, Pyre of the Black Heart.

This is from the band Tarot's album "Undead Indeed" released in 2008. So it was while he was still fairly new with Nightwish. You will find as you hear more and more, that Marko's voice seemingly has no end to colors and each color is beautiful. That's all the more amazing since he had a botched surgery on his vocal cords in the 1990's that left one cord partially paralized and, basically, had to learn to sing all over again. Marko's career is long and varied. In addition to Nightwish and Tarot, he was also part of the supergroup "Northern Kings" and has been active in the heavy metal Christmas tradition of metal versions of Christmas songs called Raskasta Joulua almost from the beginning. By the way, the guitarist in Tarot is Marko's brother, Sakari. Talent runs in the family, it seems.

Thanks a lot for the reaction. This is my favorite Marko song outside of Nightwish so far. He has a great voice, which can be seen in Nightwish mainly in the Tarja Era. He started his music career with Tarot long before Nightwish was formed.
Although this remastered video was recorded last year, this song was released on theirs album in 2006, and this is a concert recorded on DVD only 2 years later.

Thank you for the reaction. Tides is my favourite song, it's unbelievably painful, beautiful and touching, and it sounds even better in a life performance. Marko is being Marko here: very powerful and emotional, I got shivers down my spine every time I hear it.
Have you heard "The Gravity of Light" album by Tarot? It's very versatile and has so many cool songs, such as "I Walk Forever", "Caught in the Deadlights", "Gone", "Hell Knows". I strongly recommend you to give it a listen 😊

Tarot is a legendary band in Finland. Boys started the band at 1982. Lead guitarist is Marco's big brother. My favorite songs are this "Tides", "Pyre of Gods" and "Wings of Darkness". There's videos from different era's for example Wings of Darkness 1986 with young lads vs. 2011 official 25th anniversary video guys with more experience....

Tarot is the band we have had years before Nightwish. Nw started tehir era as our warming act 1996. Years later they asked Bro to their bass player and co on lead singer. In my opinion it's so strange you and many more consider him as only Nightwish player, now on solo career. He is Tarot bass player and lead vocalist. And it's so unfair to say Marko was only Nighwish member. Tarot has done 10 studio albums, 2 live albums and hundreds of gigs so far. There is no ending.

Yeah, Marko was a great loss to Nightwish. He had the power to go toe to toe with Floor. Love Troy, but he doesn't have Marko's powerful voice. But I wish Marko all the best and get to enjoy all his other projects.
