It was a very tough race Josh we were behind you but the ground conditions were awful so we took the short route and finished on Sunday night. Nice video
You do an amazing job producing these video's Josh, and allowing us to travel with you. Brilliant footage and music. Thank you for doing them.
Glad you like them!
A tour round my childhood bike rides there!
Thanks again Josh...be well.
Welldone Mr.josh🎉
Amazing ride, friend
The weather looked grim Josh. Hopefully better in Spain!!
Very nice video!
you`re eating while riding. rain didn`t stop you though. amazing
Ah Josh - sorry to hear. We dropped like flies for various reasons :(
Gutted for you on the electrical failure but it’s all miles in the bank.
I had the similar happen on a very wet Audax in Wales a number of years back. Stuff happens......
Tough going. There mate, Is the frontier 300 on the calendar? Cheers
To bad about the electronics. Are you staying with the Wahoo? That weather looked brutal. Good luck on you next ultra. Take care, Al
Not sure what I’m going to do yet but will need to learn from this and figure out a better solution
Bienvenidos in a couple of weeks! What event are you coming over for? Thanks for the video, weather looked grim!
I’ll be racing Dessertus Bikus
@@Josh-Reid good luck! Suerte!
Hello Josh. I'm wondering why on Ultras you don't have a backup (real) GPS. I use a Garmin handheld (mounted on a Garmin handlebar mount) which runs off 2 AAs. Waterproof, runs for ages on those batteries, plus has tracking and satelite texting as emergency communication. I can understand cyclist's common use of Wahoos and cycle specific Garmins etc but for the very little extra weight and dependability, surely it's something to consider? And you can use it for sailing, paddleboarding, driving, basically any sport. Not much it can't do!
Was the clip with the InReach at McDonalds a discussion around Nav Devices? I have an inreach but the Nav is pretty simpmistic, been debating on figuring out a mount for it
It was a rented device from the event so Carl kindly took it to the finish for me.
I wanna join 😅
Hey man, just wanted wantwd to ask where the glasses are from?
Café du Cycliste
@@Josh-ReidAppreciate that! Just 1 more question. Do you put anything in your hydration bag or just water? Using 1 in a few weeks but never used 1 before. thanks
Got way further than me. Sorry your equipment let you down
These things happen. In an ideal world you wouldn’t charge the device in damp conditions but that’s pretty difficult when you’re racing.
Are you saying that you wouldn’t have pushed yourself ‘in the red’ if your Wahoo/phone had been working?
I didn’t quite understand.
I understood Josh to mean that due to the navigational issues he with the wahoo and phone batteries he was forced to follow another rider for several hours, thereby contravening the regulations which forbid riders from seeking outside assistance. Josh took the honourable course of action and withdrew from the race.
That sums it up pretty well
@@thesolitarycyclist9005yes, but that doesn’t answer my question 🤨
@@thesolitarycyclist9005following at a distance is not seeking outside assistance, it's just making do with what circumstances offer you. (in my opinion, of course)
