- China is holding a second day of joint drills around Taiwan, aimed at intimidating President William Lai and those Beijing has labelled as separatist forces. The Chinese military has made it explicitly clear that it is testing its ability to destroy and occupy key areas of the island. Beijing has also warned that it would take harsher countermeasures each time Taiwan tries to become independent from China.

It was really kind of China to provide such a great opportunity for Taiwan military defense to practice and test their equipment and ability to track and monitor and target enemy vessels! Thanks, China!!
They did not use their best asset. Also, no one will turn on their war mode electronic and radar system during exercise.

@@joetran8798 there is nothing new about the One-China Policy, which has existed for 50 years. There is also nothing new about neutrality, which describes the status quo, which has maintained peace. Secession and alignment towards other countries jeopardizes that. That is simply the reality.

Taiwan has never been the name of a country. Taiwan is a province of China, whether it is the People's Republic of China or the Republic of China. My question is, do Kinmen County and Matsu County belong to Fujian Province or Taiwan Province? Does Fujian Province belong to the Republic of China?

All Taiwan has to do is just shut up, say that they're China but not clarify on which China it is, remain de-facto independence, increase cross-strait dialogue, and everything will be just fine! All Xi Jinping needs is the political dignity (because CCP always vowed to take Taiwan, so if he gave up, the people will lose trust in the government). That's exactly what Ma Ying Jeou did (the president beforw Tsai), and the region was peaceful. You see, Xi obviously knows that Ma and his KMT back then was just appeasing him, not actually pro-China, but thats all he needs! All he needs is just to let the media say "look, even the Taiwanese leader is pro-China! we are legitimate!" and the public will then be satisfied.
