Thank you for the video... Before I bought the newest available model- countering most of the opinions I read, to find a better-sounding older RotoVibe- I went searching for videos about the trim pots and didn't find anything useful for my application. Using it on a suitcase Fender Rhodes piano. Yeah- we never had the speaker/amp part for the Fender, so it needed some sort of vibrato. Happy to report that it works exceedingly well with a different mod. We've left the trim pots alone, but moved the speed control's potentiometer orientation a bit. Basically disengaged pot-wheel contact with the grooved rod (attached to the pedal), dialed back the pot just a bit, and reengaged. Now the speed won't go past the useable point, and only a hard press on the pedal (before it disengages the effect) brings it near that questionable point. Also makes the all-the-way-up pedal position a slower speed- perfect for that slow undulating effect needed for a Rhodes! We also use it first-in-line of FX... Followed by a Morley Bad Horsey II wah, a three-knob MXR Micro Amp, MXR Timmy overdrive, volume pedal. And sometimes a Death By Audio Echo Dream 2. Next we crack the RotoVibe code and try your pot-mod!
I think this is why I really like how the Rotovibe sounds. It's not just a Univibe, it has phaser sounds too. I'm stuck deciding between the Rotovibe and Deja Vibe right now. I've only been able to try the older mini Deja Vibe which sounds really good.
The Deja Vibe is a real Univibe circuit. It just has “the sound” of Hendrix. The Rotovibe is much more of a phaser, and if you want a phaser there are many better pedals out there. The Grand Orbiter by Earthquaker Devices is fantastic.
Thanks for posting! Very strange that your adjustment’s didn’t seem to make much of a difference. The main thing I noticed when I adjusted mine was the throb. Mine went from Ba Boom - Ba Boom - Ba Boom, to Ba Ba Boom - Ba Ba Boom - Ba Ba Boom. Top pot set at about 10:00 and the bottom pot set at about 6:00.
Yeah, later in the video you can start to hear more of that throb. When I dialed it in to sound best when playing clean and dirty it wasn’t too dissimilar from the factory setting. Although it does have a chewier sound now that it’s been adjusted.
I agree. I think this pedal is more of a phaser than a true UniVibe. I had hoped that adjusting the trim pots would get a stronger UniVibe effect but it never really gets there.

I find for my own personal taste the Rotovibe sounds best before overdrive, I feel as though the sound is too fizzy run after OD and fuzz.
@Grungebob_Squaredance this is likely a good placement for it, yes. Might be fun to try it in the effects loop if your amp has one.
