Dad had a 16 hp Scott with Bail-o-Matic. Nice motor. Mount bracket broke while on the lake and the motor went overboard. He got a piece of pipe and probed the bottom till he found it. Pulled it up - dried it off - and it ran just fine.

Wow! What a nice motor!! The old ones have so much character it’s amazing how nice they can run!

Don’t they though!?! With all the outboard production by the most manufacturers ever during that era, there really was only a handful of duds. There are so many that myself and others have over looked in the past that are sweet running, enjoyable engines.

Wow, she's a little ripper! I wasn't expecting that from something that looks like an old timey hat box.

Do you trim all your props down. so the RPM is where MFG says it should be?

I make custom propellers for all my engines, often not from the original one for that model.

That seems like its 15hp not 10. Regardless it runs well, ill admit when you held it wide open i was hoping it wouldnt break down. When you backed off to a mellow cruise it seemed much happier. Is 4700rpm the right place?? Most motors ive known turn over 5000rpm, even the small ones.

These engines still have some bushings in them, so that limits desired RPM’s and mandates running more oil. Regardless, I really like them.
