    I returned my Edge Paris too similar to the VF3 and did not like the felling in my arch, no need for both in my shoe rotation, and I prefer the Edge + over both as I just can't run slow in them. New subscriber here and looking forward to the next video where you go over all of the Metaspeed line!

      Funnily enough I only noticed the arch feeling the other day after running quite a bit in each shoe. I’m just back from another run in the Sky Paris and really noticed it walking home. But luckily it doesn’t bother me when running….yet!

    Thanks Barry, great review as usual, was waiting for this comparison as I bought the sky a couple of weeks ago and was a bit worried I should of bought the edge 🤔 but I do prefer more coushon under foot so all good 🌝 enjoy Boston 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

    Great video, your work on Paris series got me subscribed. I am a stride runner and got the Edges but here's the thing. I'm also a wide foot heel striker and after a superb half marathon I had with Edge Paris my ankle start to pain and 2 weeks in I haven't fully recover. So it's a big question-mark if I would use them for the full distance. I'm now looking for more videos to understand which shoe would be fast without destroying my feet.

    • @OldManRunner
      @OldManRunner  5 месяцев назад +2

      Asics saved a lot of weight on this shoe. A while back I had a plan to pimp my old Sky shoes by shaving and cutting holes to reduce the weight to match the Adidas Adizero Pro Evo 1. I never got around to it, but that is pretty much what Asics have done. The rear of the Paris shoes is very narrow. I know the Alphafly 3 is hard to get, and is much more expensive, and some more weight, but it has a much rider rear (btw it goes on sale again in Europe tomorrow at 08:00 IST). I haven't determined what shoe I will run in Boston yet, Edge Paris, Sky Paris AF3 but will report back if I find anything...

    Fantastic compare. Your Paris videos are superb- the best that is. SO, tried both shoes and came to conclusion: No Paris for me due to slight bump I feel under foot (more in Edge but still some in Sky). Instead, did get a red/orange color Sky-Plus so I can use previous version; this had no such feeling. Safe travels to Boston this week. Can’t wait for your gear and race videos. Cheers!!!

      Rajkumar. There is another video going live 24 hours after this one, where I do a test on all 5 of my Metaspeed shoes. I finally felt the bump you are referring to, but luckily it didn't bother me. The Sky+ is still a great shoe. My Boston Preview goes live, hopefully 48 hours after this video, have to finish it first!

    Excellent series Barry, 'cause it's certainly been a bit of a head scratcher, I think you've put a few minds at rest who were maybe worried that they chose the right one!! Hmmm dunno about Asics being number 1 in Europe though, at any time, and based on a very thorough and extensive google search of a few seconds, they seem to be 3rd in Europe at best, after Nike and Adidas, which is what I suspected!! Worldwide they are currently 6th, which is kinda eyebrow raising!! ENJOY BOSTON, Barry!!!🥳 Only a few days away now!! I'm thoroughly enjoying my own well-earned DOMS from my big 51.5km trail through never-ending mud last weekend!!!💪🏃‍♀💪 All that heavy breathing actually helped the bronchitis... maybe a 50k ultra should be suggested as a standard treatment!!🤣

      Bev. well done on getting through the weekend! There is very little to choose between these shoes, doing more testing yesterday, today and tomorrow before I pick the Boston shoe. I am still uncertain, but I will pick, film and wrap it all up for a video to go live before I get on the plane on Friday...I watched the Paris Marathon live last wekened and was thinking of you. Cracking route...!

      What are those figures? Just for running trainers? Or all sales? Source? The statement of no 1 running brand could be on consumer satisfaction rather than sales. It's a very generic statement.

    Anyone else have the problem of the tongue slipping back into the shoe?

    • @OldManRunner
      @OldManRunner  5 месяцев назад +2

      I haven’t so far. I love the tongue for its simplicity but it can be tricky to set right without bunching and I can imagine it slipping. I open the shoes wide and pull the tongue tight up before tightening and tying the laces…and this works for me.

    Looking forward to your more detailed comparison of the 2.
    I went for the Edge Paris due to it's vaporfly similarities and my bias to shorter distances..
    It's closest I've found to the original VF1 ... I need to do more testing to find out if it's better 🤔

    • @OldManRunner
      @OldManRunner  5 месяцев назад +1

      I only run 200km in carbon fibre race shoes. I try to keep them as fresh as possible for racing and testing. If I wasn't testing I would try to get 400km out of them. The first Sky, Edge, Sky+ shoes all got wear on the heel really fast, but then they settled down and the wear was okay at 200km but I am not sure they would get to 400km. The Sky Paris and Edge Paris seem to suffer with less wear, and seem more durable than their predecessors

    First review of this shoe from someone who wears my size. Looks like it's a full 2 oz lighter than my lightest shoe (which is a full size too small for me anyway). I really want to try these out once I get ready for marathon training. I've got a lot of base building to do before then and I definitely don't need a super light racing shoe for that. 😂

    • @OldManRunner

      I think the greatest achievement of this and the Sky Paris is the weight. Superlight for a super size stack shoe

    I own neither , and currently do not have the room (or more importantly the permission lol ) to have any more shoe's however my coach really likes the new metaspeed shoes (he is running Manchester in the Sky on Sunday) , too many people of different people that I know of different builds and different paces really rate the new generation of Metaspeeds including yourself . I shall be keen to try these out down the road (I am a fan of the magic speed 3 for my interval work .. not the same but of the same family) . Once again thank's for the work and detail you put into these vlogs , and more importantly the best of luck 🙂

      True. But for someone trying to qualify for Boston or hoping to run a PB it might be worth it. The previous version the Sky+ is quite similar and is on regular discount. As is the Nike Vaporfly 3 which is a great shoe.

      I ran a 10k recently and picked the Streakfly. Really enjoyed running in it, funnily enough it was also my hometown 10k. 16k people is a lot for a 10k. The start must be bonkers!

      @@OldManRunner I really like Takumi Sen 8 for 5k/10k races. It is light but cushioned enough (33mm) for this distance.
      I think this race (Austin Statesman Cap10K) might be the biggest 10K race in US. This was 47th year.
      Like marathons there were several corrals (A-E) and even in corral A, you need to sort your way out at the beginning and at various turns. Despite the size, it is a well managed race.
      I call it a success since I was not passed by a runner pushing a stroller. 😂 I finished the race with a 71 year old lady. I want to be able to run like her at her age.

      I have a video coming out tonight where test 5 Metaspeed shoes over a km each. To be honest I could find little difference. For me it is a case of how you like the feel of the shoe, and particularly if you prefer the plate to be closer to the ground (Edge Paris) or closer to your foot (Sky Paris). Going on feel rather than data, I would pick the Edge Paris.
