I’m 17 and I dislocated my patella the other day and I’ve been icing it, taking aleve, and keeping it elevated while wearing a brace and it’s healed incredibly well
DeVore Clark I dislocated my knee it took me 4-6 months to heal but I am fast at getting healed so the first month I started walking without crutches and a knee brace even though I was not supposed to😅
@@frogpaint7974 take proper rest. Don't try to walk uselessly. My brother's knee also got dislocated a while ago, he didn't feel as much pain on the 3rd day so he started taking it lightly. But he suffered immense pain on 5th or 6th day. The doctor chastised him and asked to take proper rest. He said if you won't care, you will have to pay for it.
I’m 18 years old i dislocated my patella when i was 16 playing soccer. I was told by high school athletic trainers that i wouldn’t have complications but they are notorious for misdiagnosing a lot of injuries. I began to start running on my knee a week after and now i regret it. I cannot squat down all the way or bend my knee completely like i did before. Seriously if you dislocate your knee get doctors help it can and will effect your life.
I completely dislocated my right patella almost 2 months ago an I'm finally getting an MRI for it tomorrow. If there's no cartilage damage that can be surgically repaired, my doctor and I are gonna talk about an MPFL for my other knee which has been subluxating for almost 10 years, and he's really the first doctor I've had who has given me surgery as an option. I'm really leaning towards doing it. It'd be so nice to be able to get out of my car without my knee going out. I'm not an athlete, but my job as a vet tech is super physical, and I haven't been able to do much for a long time. My doctor said the recovery is a bitch, but honestly if it means I don't have to worry about my knee so much, I'm all for it.
@Tony M it was good, but you will be in some pain, I'm still healing and currently am not allowed to walk for a couple weeks. You will have to go to physical therapy. I wish you a great healing process!🙂
@Tony M yeah I totally understand. When you have your surgery make sure you bring stuff to do, it takes a while. And bring comfy clothes! Have a good day/ night and stay safe!
I'm 15 years old and back in September 2016 (14 years old) I dislocated my knee while dancing. it was hard because It happened 2 weeks before my big 15th birthday party (quinceañera) it's now January 2017 and I'm walking without a brace now but it still hurts sometimes and I can't left my leg while keeping it straight and I can't bend it as much as I used to......I just want to be able to do everything I used to.....but I'm scared it'll dislocate again.
Julissa Vasquez I dislocated my knee on the 3rd of January this year! I am 14 years old turning 15 in April, I am going physiotherapy to help strengthen my knee and help to try prevent it from happening agains so I would say that physio would help a lot! I'm also very scared it will happen again because I play netball, basketball and do 2 types of physical education at school and it's still scares me, but my physio helps me through that and I'm feeling a lot more confident then when I first started 😊
I remember those days sweetie. Six weeks of physical therapy at the sports medicine clinic at my university and I almost cried. The therapy student divulged that she didn't even think she would be able to help me when she first saw me. By the end, I was able to lift my leg higher than the non-injured one. I was able to run again. Hope everyone has received the help they need; I waited over 10 years and it's one of my biggest regrets.
I dislocated my knee cap just over a week ago at my friends place. I did a one legged backflip of a high bouncy mat (inside) I got an ambulance ride and the green whistle, I’m now on crutches and in a brace but the brace is too big what do I do? No surgery either I’ve had lot of swelling it was about 4x my normal knee. After it all goes down I have to get a MRI scan. I can bend my knee almost 90 degrees!
i dislocated my knee 3 years ago at the age of 13 during a soccer match. started PT right after the dislocation, and trained at the hospital for a year without much luck. got a cortisone shot in may, 2021, and it had worked pretty well, BUT, every time i do a quick turn, my patella is almost dislocating, or on it’s way out of the groove, which makes it hard, because i’m a D1 soccer player and a rancher, so a lot of my day to day things involves running and lifting heacy objects. getting surgery this summer! and hopefully i’ll be able to return to the field next season💪
I am a 14 year old female. I dislocated my patella in mid-April playing soccer. I rehabbed for 6 week, playing on and off throughout that time, and played in a big soccer tournament at the end of May. 3 days later, my swim season started. I swam for almost 2 months, with my patella subluxing every other day or so. I tried physical therapy, a brace, and tape and nothing could get my knee cap to stop sliding. By the end of August i had subluxed almost 50 times. In the beginning of September i started playing volleyball and soccer again and kept subluxing. Last week, I dislocated again and now we are discussing options again. I really want to be able to play soccer this spring. The options i was given were rest, brace, ice or surgery. Has anyone gone through this? Any suggestions? Thanks
My leg is swollen and I'm wearing a knee brace, It's been 6 days since the dislocation, and my leg is really swollen, I'm still to scared to put pressure on it or bend it, My family genes all have bad knees Lol, But would I wait until swelling down and how would I reduce it without much risk? Thanks for replying to me last time 😊
My knee cap dislocated last tuesday. The doctor recommend drinking medicine (to reduce pain and swelling) he suggested that I should undergo rehabilitation, physical therapy for 2 weeks. I'm still in the process of healing, I haven't undergone the rehabilitation cause it is still painful. He said that I was born with misaligned bones. If the medication and therapy do not work, I will have to go through a surgery.
Hi! I’m a 22 yr old Male. Last month, while playing basketball I dislocated my knee with partial patellar fracture. MRI revealed a tear of the MPFL. I had to undergo a ORIF to re-fix the patella and medial Plication to stabilise the patella. Post op - Advised four weeks of no weight bearing and to use brace! Currently on week 3 post op.. My leg has become weak and cannot constrict my quadriceps. Lower leg has become thin and feet turn purple with slight edema. The swelling has significantly reduced around knee with no pain. Soon to start physio and regain bending and walking!
Hi! This is a follow up on my case.. Currently it’s 6 weeks post op.. active physio for last two weeks. Regained weight bearing, walking without support and ROM of knee 60 degrees. Swelling further reduced. Patellar mobility increased. Able to to constrict quadriceps!
Am 20 i just had the kneecap Dislocation this morning.. It was scary when i saw the kneecap pop out but i manged to hit it back in place.. How long do you think this aftr pain gonna last? Do i need an exray?
Its almost 1 month since my left knee dislocated. Until now i can feel some pain when i try to stand and act normal. Any recommendations to avoid surgery? Thank you in advanced
I had it this morning a was playing basketball i step on a foot when i tried to block then it happend, but i directly push my feet straight by pushing it slowly with both hands then i directly got it back in place, i can say that i was lucky, this is my first time bone injury but i saw how and what to do about this injury so i got it back on place, im only 15 yrs old today
My knee dislocated a month or so back, i’m still on crutches. I can walk now, but my knee keeps collapsing whenever I do, the MRI said nothing was wrong exept for a chipped bone and fracture, do you have any idea why it’s collapsing all the time?
I am 16 and I dislocated my knee cap in feb about 6 months ago and I have been going to pt for since March and I am about to finish my last 4 weeks of pt but it has been a long hard journey but I am slowly getting back to normal and I am starting to walk more without my knee brace
1 week into my fractured patella did my surgery they wired it down with the bone have a cast on my whole leg can’t wait to come the heavy ass cast. Jus waiting 2 more weeks so I can get on the splinter.. hard to walk around wit cast.. nightmare injury if u have cast can’t even go to the bathroom or take shower properly always need someone to watch me every time I come off my bed.
I dislocated my knee in 2015, and ever since I've been watching videos of dislocations and relocations of knees and stuff. If it were to happen to me again or someone else, should I try relocating my knee first before hand?
I'm 18 and I dislocated both of my kneecaps (the left one last year and the right one this month) bc I'm a klutz who fall down quite often and both time my nearby doctor/orthopedics didnt reccomend surgery, and he also tell me that i personally dont have to use braces but it might help. I popped the kneecaps back in myself and thank God it went well and currently recovering. Putting ice when it was still swelling helped a lot to lessen the pain(i didnt take any painkillers). But i've noticed that the second time i dislocated my knee it went better? Like it hurted less(like a bit) and i can straighten my legs better than the first time i dislocated my knee. Anyway, thanks for the info doc!
I experienced this twice 2 years ago but to this day i can't bend my knee quickly. Like i have to becareful on bending my leg because i'm scared that it will happen again and i really want to dance as much as i used to so do you have any advice on this?
It's been 8 days since I dislocated my left patella. The knee is still swollen. I wonder if the brace has anything to do with that. Should i still keep icing and keeping the leg elevated as much as possible? I am able to put it down, but I tried to walk in crutches without the brace and I'm so afraid when the knee bends. Even a little bit if it bends, it hurts... Let me know

@@tashadoty1082 im still recovering. Im trying to fain muscle back. I haven't started any physical activity yet, except what i do at physio therapy. Yes, i had surgery because i also has my mpfl ruptured.
Dislocated my patella about a month ago. I slightly tore my MPFL and had a 1inch chunk of cartridge taken out of my knee. Surgery was needed 1st time patella dislocation. Put anchors in my knee and suchered my torn ligament back and removed cartridge from knee. Being put in a cast for 6 weeks to fully heal my knee after surgery. Then physical therapy is next.
I suffered this injury 3 months ago and I'm still not able to run/jump, raise my leg or kick it out. Still have fluid in the knee. Can walk, but not properly
Hi! I dislocated my knee about 3 months ago and still have fluid. I can walk and bend my knee but can’t run, jump, raise (barely!) or kick it out. How long did it take for the fluid to go away if it did on its own? What was the recovery time like for you? Thanks!
@@jessicaledford456 It was later discovered that I actually needed surgery as my kneecap was completely out of the groove, and well as my tibia needed to be surgically broken, and raised to a new angle. I had my surgery in Dec 2020. I wasn't able to walk AT ALL until April 2021, and it took me about until September/October 2021 before I could feel as if I could function normally again. It's currently almost April 2022, and I cannot run pretty much at all, and it'll probably never come back. However I'm pretty much able to do most other things, just no quick changing of direction.
@@pekmenn Second opinion. First Ortho Dr. was an idiot who told me nothing was wrong with my knee at the time (mind you I literally could only walk if I kept my leg completely straight). Went to another and he immediately told me what was wrong, explained and even drew out a diagram for me to better understand. Prior to surgery, I could only walk with a completely straight leg, couldn't raise my leg at all, and had lots of trouble bending farther than 60 degrees or so. I am now 4 years post op, however I never did regain the ability to run/jump, and due to my injury, I will need a knee replacement by the time I am 30 (currently 23, was 19 when injury occurred). Recovery from surgery so that I could walk again on my own without any kind of support took roughly 13 months. Mind you ALL I did was dislocate the knee cap. No structural/ligament damage. I still wonder to this day if I was given the incorrect surgery. Always have some kind of pain in the knee, and have a severe build up of osteoarthritis, hence the reason for eventually needing a knee replacement by the time I am 30. Pain is always worse in colder months and more manageable during warmer months.

Hi doctor, I dislocated my patella while dancing( I heard some major cracking sounds) and fell to the ground with my leg extended in-front of me. I felt pain at that moment and when i tried standing up i had absolutely no stability, although I could bend it to a 90 degree angle. The next day i felt absolutely no pain but there was swelling and i could no only bend my leg to 30 degree angle. It's been 2 weeks now, I ice regularly and use a brace, I still feel no pain. I am still unable to bend it completely as there is a little bit of swelling just around the kneecap and behind the knee. How long would it be before I can get back to the gym and would swimming be a better option initially?
Priyanka Cabral do not swim when it is still swelling that could only make it worse but after the swelling has gone down it would be a good exercise for the knee so it can be stable and you’ll get used to it
I am in my 4th week of pattela dislocation rehab also i have ruptured mpfl...my question is will a get back complete movement of my knee back without any surgery?

I dislocated my kneecap at work yesterday by hitting my knee on a big metal table while I was turning around. I popes the kneecap back in myself which relieved my pain but when it popped out the pain was very severe I wanted to pass out. I haven't went to the dr as of yet and am sceduled to go back to work tomorrow for an 8.5 hour shift. My question is should I go see a dr? And do you advise me to go to work tomorrow? I have a lot of fluid on my knee I can tell. I can just feel it. Oh ya I forgot to mention I have a brace on it that prevents my knee from bending. I really don't want to go to work tomorrow in fear of me doing further damage to my knee but I'm afraid if I call in my boss will fire me. Idk what to do. Your input would be greatly appreciated.
I dislocated my knee around a month ago. The swelling is still quite immense and I have about a 0 to 113 degree end. I have a chip off of my patella but my ortho thinks it won't be an issue. I ice it 3-4 times per day but the swelling comes back immediately when I walk on it

But its extremely painful. And now I'm very very scared that it will happen again. :(

So background... I'm a 13 year old ballet dancer who is very hyper mobile in all joints. About 4 days ago I was landing a jump and did it very poorly. My patella dislocated to the outside and i immediately fell to the ground. At the ER they said that x ray was normal apart from something called Osgood Schlatters disease?? Currently in too much pain to bear weight and am wearing an immobilizer. My whole life dream is to be a pro ballet dancer! I'm already in a pre professional program. Am i ever gonna be able to do that? The doctor said there was no obvious tear in mcl or acl, if that is the case shouldn't i be able to bear weight by now? Advice would be very appreciated!!
I'm 39. I dislocated both of my knees 3 days ago. I've suffered a few falls from this injury. I visited my orthopedic surgeon on the 16th. He removed the wraps and braces and told me that I didn't need them but when I feel my leg I can feel the knee cap above right at the bottom of the femur. My question is being the fact that I'm 39 years old and 326 pounds should I consider surgery? As far as doing something repetitively, I drive a large commercial vehicle for a span of 12 hours in 12 hours 60% of the time, I'm getting in and out of the truck.

A month ago I dislocated my kneecap for the second time while playing soccer, I’m still in my brace because the doctors failed to put it back correctly. I have a MRI in 2 weeks and I’m hoping for surgery tbh. I’m just really scared it will happen again, like if I just feel a little pain in my knee I already think my kneecap is dislocated.

I dislocated my knee last year and it took over one hour for the medics to show up. I was in so much pain that it hurt moving anything. Is it usual for people to get petrified from all of that pain?
Caleb Kebert I dislocated my knee cap 2 Wednesday's ago playing in a basketball game. It took the medics an hour to get me in the gym and another 15 minutes to get to the hospital. Last Monday I got an MRI and the results haven't come yet. I can only bend my knee half way up without pain. When I was on the ground I was screaming for 5 minutes straight. I almost went into shock, but was pulled out by a nurse asking for my address. The next morning I had to pee, so my dad helped me hobble to the bathroom. In mid stream I passed out for 15 seconds straight. This was due to shock. IDK why I had shock the next morning, but I think it was due to all the meds in my system.
Hi Dr. David, I am martial artist, early on in my career I had a few left patellar dislocations, after few rehabs my knee was fine for several years. Today I dislocated it again, I feel devastated searching for a solution. Would you recommend a surgery and if so what type of surgery?
I recently dislocated my patella. It's been about a month, I've been walking with an immobilizer on. They never took an MRI but the doctors said they think it's healing on its own. If I try to bend my knee I don't get very far before I feel a lot of pressure around the knee. Is the pressure normal? Should I be scared still?
Roger Scott Yes the pressure is. I dislocated my knee 2 Wednesday's ago playing in a basketball game. I can only bend my knee halfway up without the pressure causing pain. I've been in an immobilizer for 2 weeks now with crutches. The best thing to due is test your limits very carefully. I can walk without crutches but my knee will sometimes buckle so I have to be near something to hold on to

What can i do and do you think that i should still visit the docter.
I have enlers-danlos syndrome and a month ago both of my knees snapped out of place and dislocated. I was home alone and it was probably the scariest thing I've ever experienced. I went in for a check up and it turns out I don't need surgery, but I am still experiencing the feeling of it popping out then back in and clicking. My knee cap is also very wiggly, and though they said there was no cartilage damage it feels like it's too loose
I am sorry that this happened to you. I know it had been 4 moths since this comment but I just felt like I needed to comment due to how close your situation is to mine. Although I do not have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, butI was born with some anatomical abnormality or something that makes my patella easily pop out. I’ve had it my whole life but it recently got worse due to a fall I’ve had 8 months ago, where I managed to skilfully dislocate both my kneecaps. Mine also feel loose, even without cartilage damage, and I will also likely have surgery for them. I recommend wearing knee braces if you aren’t already. They give support to the side facing outwards on my knees. Not exactly a fashion statement but it helps support the kneecap a lot and just makes me so much more comfortable walking. I have not found anything that helps with the clicking for mine, but I usually recognise it occurring a lot more if I overworked them that day. I hope this helps in some way, or you have already gone though with a successful surgery.
@@unicornsparkles11039 Thank you so much for the advice, I've been wearing different levels of braces over the past couple months. While I'm happy that I have someone I can relate to, I am so sorry that you experienced that. I hope we both get as better as we can.

It is very sore but my main concern that is kind of strange is that my calf muscle is very sore and when I get up on crutches my foot almost immediately turns purple and starts going numb. Is this normal? I have an immobilizer brace and have been sure to not make it too tight.
I dislocated my kneecap about 6-7 weeks ago. Still on crutches. But I couldn’t help but notice the foot comment. My foot is so swollen and keeps turning purple. Did you ever find an answer for it? And have you dislocated it any more?
A dislocation is a traumatic event where the patella is out of place and often has to be popped back in. Maltracking refers to a tendency for the patella to ride more toward the outside of the knee with range of motion.
I recently commented on another video with my issue. I use to jog 20miles a week im 23 years old, i suffered suttle patellar subluxation and tilt. Over the course of 6 months i did physio to build up the muscle to try drag it in place but it only worked slightly. Then i have gone for surgery and was making a great recovery but as i was trying to get back into jogging it seems to have gone again or a very bad flare up, although unsure at this moment. Its irritating but i can walk with slight discomfort maybe i try live with it.
I dislocated my knee cap during a football match i did take an mri and i was told i had a torn mpfl my doctor suggested me going to a physiotherapist i did 20 sessions i went again to the doctor to see it and he told me to go to a gym and start working on my leg muscles its been 2 months. I can move bend my knee squat everything i was told to avoid sports like football basketball rugby etc. Cause of the direction changing but i really want to start playing football again my legs are rock solid but im afraid it will happen again will i be able to play again like i used to do?
Same here, happened to me twice and contueing therapy, try asking for a brace to keep your knee in place i find it helps alot and doesnt make me worry so much feels stable just dont rely on it too much
I've had a patellar dislocation not too long ago with my left knee which I feel has fully recovered with a last checkup with the physiotherapist. Within the past week I have dislocated my right patellar playing Rugby. My first question is how is this avoided e.g. Through regular exercise because I have only gone to the gym a handful of times this academic year. My second question is, if you dislocate your patellar twice does the healing process double e.g. It took me 6 weeks for my left knee to fully recover if I were to dislocate it again shortly after it was relocated will I need 12 weeks to recover?
My son as a patella fracture and he is worried about it, he plays soccer and he wants to make it as his profession , but he never had to visit the doctor, but he still as pain sometime he stress it, for like 7 month now he had been like this, please what can we do about it

I dislocated my patella 1 year 3 months ago and it still hurts and everytime I bend it it pops and cracks and idk what to do. it is horrible I cant be the best me in baseball
Last Tuesday I dislocated my knee cap while in a dance position and after it dislocated by itself, I went to orthopedist and they wanted an MRI so on Friday I got one. Results haven't come back yet but I cannot bend it past a certain point, straighten it all the way, or twist it without pain. Is this normal after I've just dislocated it or is this something more? Also should I be doing anything else to it? I've been using crutches and bearing weight sometimes and sometimes having to depend fully on the crutches. It kept it elevated when possible and iced it some. Thanks
Same thing with me but I totally cant walk.. not even with crutches it happend 3 weeks ago. They said I don't need surgery so they said I nred to do 18 sessions of recovery with someone physic something guy.. but the problem is I can straighten my leg but cannot bend it more then 30°..
@@SianCKB if you are still active, I’m curious if your knee has fully recovered & when could you start to bend it? I’m 2 weeks in after patella dislocation
@@mariilapyt4213 well It's all good now, though I still can't bend it all the way but that's because I didn't train my knee every day.. make sure you do that. I had been in bed for 7 months! and also lost my entire leg because of an idiot doctor.. Anyway after 2 3 weeks should be good to start bend your knee very slowly with some kind of help from a trainer who knows what he/she is doing, at first they came to my house since I couldn't move my leg at all. then when I could sit on a chair or walk you go to their place and start doing massages and squats for example. For me it took a lot of time just because I didn't train my leg everyday. it's the only recommendation I have TRAIN EVERY DAY. it has been 3 years for me and yes my leg works normal again but I can't bend my knee fully. ^^
i m 18 and i dislocated my knee many times may be 10 to 15 times since this incident happened....actually when i was 12 i used play running games in the park and that park have boundaries, one day i thought to jump and run from that boundary without taking any support of that boundary or anything and then when i tried to do obviously i failed and my left leg badly stretch out from my knee area,at that time i don't know what happened but my knee have soo much pain then, when i came home back i didn't told to mother but anyhow she found out and then we didn't went to doctor but tried to cure this at home by massage in all...i recovered the pain in 1 week only at that time but the problems is still with me...even recently i dislocated my knee..i don't know what to do..plzz recommend me something!!
I'm kind of scared.. now I dislocated my kneecap during trampoline jumping as I was about to do a backflip. But the doctors said I don't need surgery because my ligements are a little bit torn and not fully.. the thing is I can't bend my knee over 30° :( it's been 3 weeks since it happend they gave me a knee brace and gave me 18 sessions for exercising with someone.. but I'm scared because if I force my knee a bit over 30° that it will dislocate again.. and I don't want to feel that pain ever again ^^ does anyone have this problem too? Not being able to bend your knee? And also it's still a bit swollen..
nope i'm just about 90 degree now xD a month ago and a half it i was able to bend 45 degree.. so it's really a slow recovery but bending is still a bit painful and it still locks about 95 degree because of all the ligaments and muscles are still tight... but i can go more and more it just takes a long time to recover

I can't run or jump without it dislocating. it is very scary. 😥

My knee cap dislocated last tuesday. The doctor recommend drinking medicine (to reduce pain and swelling) he suggested that I should undergo rehabilitation, physical therapy for 2 weeks. I'm still in the process of healing, I haven't undergone the rehabilitation cause it is still painful. He said that I was born with misaligned bones. If the medication and therapy do not work, I will have to go through a surgery.

Last month, while playing basketball I dislocated my knee with partial patellar fracture. MRI revealed a tear of the MPFL.
I had to undergo a ORIF to re-fix the patella and medial Plication to stabilise the patella.

I dislocated my knee in 2015, and ever since I've been watching videos of dislocations and relocations of knees and stuff. If it were to happen to me again or someone else, should I try relocating my knee first before hand?
Hi ! Did it happen again??

Yeah that’s not going to happen for me
They waited like 2 hours to pop mine back in 😭 the hospital was busy
It's been 8 days since I dislocated my left patella. The knee is still swollen. I wonder if the brace has anything to do with that. Should i still keep icing and keeping the leg elevated as much as possible? I am able to put it down, but I tried to walk in crutches without the brace and I'm so afraid when the knee bends. Even a little bit if it bends, it hurts... Let me know

@@JSlackyhow did you find out you need a surgery and what symptoms did you have
@@pekmenn Second opinion.

I’ve dislocated my knee cap 4 times 2 on each so I don’t know what your saying
Hi doc..I dislocated my patella playing football overseas and was told I had a complete mpfl tear..two fractures...bone and ligaments floating around..and a mcl grade 2 sprain..the orthopedic Dr wants to treat it without surgery..however, I sent over the MRI report to another Dr. and they think I am need surgery..btw I'm 39 yo and this is my first real significant injury in 30 years of playing American football.. my question is can I really get back on the field without the surgery???
A month ago I dislocated my kneecap for the second time while playing soccer, I’m still in my brace because the doctors failed to put it back correctly. I have a MRI in 2 weeks and I’m hoping for surgery tbh. I’m just really scared it will happen again, like if I just feel a little pain in my knee I already think my kneecap is dislocated.
What was the outcome of the MRI?
I probably got the dumbest dislocation you can imagine I literally slid in the house
I'll raise you, I got my leg stuck, fell backwards and *pop* goes my knee.

The Bee today *i tried to sit on a high up chair, and simply pushed myself on my right leg, and my patella dislocated. only i would dislocate a bone while simply trying to STAND UP*

Cool! Thanks for this, I recently dislocated my kneecap for the first time on a bouncy castle and just got out of my brace.
have u had any problems ever since then?
I wish I could have surgery on my knee but my doctor says it may be unsuccessful as I have spasticity from my cerebral palsy so I’m having to do physio:( but it’s a very slow process compared to the first time it happened , it’s very hard to find motivation to do the exercises as I’m not good with building a routine has anyone got any solutions? I also have struggled with an extreme phobia of stairs after dislocating it , can anyone relate and if so have you got any solutions to try and get over this irrational fear?

I dislocated my right knee a few days ago, however it went back to its place after a few seconds though and it hurts so much but lasted only for a couple of minutes then I walked it off after because the pain was gone. However while normally walking the knee that night it started to hurt a bit and it was a bit swelling too. What should I do apart from going to the doctor? I did massage it with olive oil every night. And I also feel its instability. What can I do right now? Will this heal on its own? For how many months? Please help. Thank you.

My knee dislocated while playing football. At that moment I suffered high pain. After doing a physiotherapy it makes me little comfortable.then after 2 or 3 times my knee litely dislocating and automatically coming to it's own position at that same time itself.this happens when while playing my body weight comes in the injured leg. After 1 week of rest I can able to walk normally ,but I can't able to play like my past. So,please help me.

I can walk without crutches but my knee will sometimes buckle so I have to be near something to hold on to
BARBEESHA SHAQANDRA it's been about 4 months since it happened. I've been out of the immobilized for about 3 months now. It dislocated again but popped back in. I'm still walking but with slight pain.

I'm 12 and I misplaced my knee cap and it got fractured and had to get surgery.I actually first misplaced it when I was 9 but the doctors just thought I sprained it.

Im a 20 year old girl who got her knee dislocated, but it went back to its place right away. Thats why i didnt go to the docter. Its been 2 days now and i can bend it and its not that swollen anymore. But in 1 week ill be on my vacation and im scared that i wont be able to walk there. What can i do and do you think that i should still visit the docter.
Were you able to walk ? I’m in the same situation I’m going on vacation and scared I won’t be able to really move and enjoy myself
@@marlenejameson3028 No problem! I am glad you are wearing knee braces. For mine, I was reluctant at first but now I can't go outside without them haha. And I agree with you 100% It is nice to be able to relate...unfortunate but nice.

Hi. Thank you for the video.
My Mom has just experienced her first knee cap dislocation of the right leg. She is 71 years old . She experienced sudden sharp knee pain that prevented her from walking when the dislocation happened.
She is not an athlete and did not do any strong movement on the legs.
She has chronic knee joint roughness and loss of synovial fluid.
She is on pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs now.
Can she recover? will she be able to move and walk normally again?
Can the knee cap be put in place again?
Can we avoid surgery?
Thanks again.

Question if i do track and i keep getting told by my school nurse and sports trainers i need to get a knee brace special made but does it need to be described by a doctor or what do I do?
Doctors offices have braces specifically for patellar instability. You might ask your orthopaedic surgeon.
i actually have to go to an orthopedist now just because i may have a tear in my knee
Just a few days ago I was at the beach camping out. There were no restrooms near by so I found a tree to lean against and squat down. When I went to stand back up my left patella completely dislocated. Lucky my boyfriend who is an RN was there and was able to immediately put my patella back into place. It is very sore but my main concern that is kind of strange is that my calf muscle is very sore and when I get up on crutches my foot almost immediately turns purple and starts going numb. Is this normal? I have an immobilizer brace and have been sure to not make it too tight.
What was the purple foot thing and how are things now
I dislocated my kneecap about 6-7 weeks ago. Still on crutches. But I couldn’t help but notice the foot comment. My foot is so swollen and keeps turning purple. Did you ever find an answer for it? And have you dislocated it any more?

Hi🌸🌸🌸
what is the difference between patellar dislocation and patellar sublaxation and patellar maltracking?
A dislocation is a traumatic event where the patella is out of place and often has to be popped back in. Maltracking refers to a tendency for the patella to ride more toward the outside of the knee with range of motion.
Dr. David Geier aha many thanks for sharing but how about patellar sublaxation? 🌸🌸🌸
Abdulaziz Adil its when the knee cap doesn't fully pop out of place, it just shifts out then shifts back In.
+Callum Williams I hope it turns out well. That can be a challenging recovery. Good luck!
I know it has been 4 years but if u dislocate ur knee twice you have more chance that it will happen again how have you been doing since?

Last Tuesday I dislocated my knee cap while in a dance position and after it dislocated by itself, I went to orthopedist and they wanted an MRI so on Friday I got one. Results haven't come back yet but I cannot bend it past a certain point, straighten it all the way, or twist it without pain. Is this normal after I've just dislocated it or is this something more? Also should I be doing anything else to it? I've been using crutches and bearing weight sometimes and sometimes having to depend fully on the crutches. It kept it elevated when possible and iced it some.
Thanks
It could be normal for that type of injury. You might contact your orthopaedic surgeon and see what he thinks. Good luck!
Same thing with me but I totally cant walk.. not even with crutches it happend 3 weeks ago. They said I don't need surgery so they said I nred to do 18 sessions of recovery with someone physic something guy.. but the problem is I can straighten my leg but cannot bend it more then 30°..

nope i'm just about 90 degree now xD a month ago and a half it i was able to bend 45 degree.. so it's really a slow recovery but bending is still a bit painful and it still locks about 95 degree because of all the ligaments and muscles are still tight... but i can go more and more it just takes a long time to recover
