The Handler was one of the songs that got me obsessed with muse back in the day! it rocks! I'd recommend you listen to the studio version as well on your own time
Thank you so much for doing the song I requested, loved ur reaction, knew you would love that one, it's such a good song :) so glad u enjoyed it from start to finish :) can't wait for more
I'm glad you enjoyed this, I think any Muser who watches your channel had a feeling you would😂. This song is from the same album as Psycho, Reapers, Defector, and, funnily enough, the Globalist😅.
There's a performance of The Handler filmed in Germany (if you search - The Handler [Live at Gloria Theater, Germany 2015]) it'll come up, I think it's the best live performance of this song they'll ever do, the audio quality is incredible and Matt just effortlessly slides from a D5 to E5 in falsetto (during the part that is 13:54 in this video). Chris' bass is massive in it too.
Hey DH another fair and great reaction! I loooove this song and yes I always thought that the solo lasts just enough before I start thinking "It's been a while since the solo started" haha. But the power in the instruments is amazing, idk why in this show I think Matt's vocals are not 100% but that's my impression, thanks for reacting to Muse!
Love that you were persuaded into doing a reaction to this one. However, as much as you enjoyed it, due to the strain on the vocals, you really need to listen to the studio track. Incredibly hard to pull this one off live. Really sick video too.
Hey man, great videos! I respect you a lot - no profuse vulgarity, no snarky commentary, you don't pander for likes and subscribes and you encourage people to watch the whole video before liking or subscribing. I appreciate your reviews; you always do a great analysis and really give each track an honest listen. I am a jazz and progressive rock and metal fan myself so I enjoy a lot of the tracks you review. Keep up the great work! Take care!
@@THEDavidHereticMay I suggest 2 reviews? The below: Paranoid Android - Radiohead A Million Light Years Away - Stratovarius If you've already done them, then don't worry about it. Also, are you also a musician and have some original compositions? I would be interested in listening to them, if you do.
@@gothfather1 I don't actually write songs, I've tried a couple of times and nothing good has come out of it. However I am pretty good when it comes to arranging songs and taking what someone has written and developing it. For example, someone comes in with a riff (usually it's the chorus), and I'll help build a verse, bridge, intro and outro for that riff. I know I've done a reaction for Paranoid Android, I think I've actually done 2 reactions for it. I don't think I've done a reaction to Stratovarius on the channel yet, and there's no requests for Stratovarius in the que. If you would like to make an official request, you have to make it through the Patreon page as a Bronze Tier member or higher.
One of my favorite straight-forward Muse songs. Happy you were left wanting more! If you want more, check out their studio version, it's really tight, and produced by Mutt Lange of AC/DC fame, and man, the recording is TIGHT. You can also check out the instrumental on youtube, just to appreciate the mesmerizing guitar/bass/drums by themselves. Very Dream Theater-like when vocals are removed.
great review David ! ok now that you are used to Muse, i think you are ready to react to "UNSUSTAINABLE live at Las Vegas" and "SPACE DEMENTIA live Pinkpop 2004" please request it you will be surprised ;)
I knew you would like this song because I think 'Drones' would definitely be your favorite album by Muse, even though it includes The Globalist. :D Most of the other songs are just to your taste.
FEELIN' YOU MR HERETIC! Thanks so much for this review, I love the detail you put into your reviews. I think it really makes your channel stand out from the other review channels. I truly think this song is a rock masterpiece, that repetitive elongated guitar section left me a bit disappointed at first as it felt a bit lazy from a production POV, but the more I listened to this song the more I felt it fitted perfectly somehow. The production of Muse's songs are so often faultless IMO.
In fairness, he saw them on the WOTP tour. As Matt ages, he’s less and less active. He still moves, but nowhere near as much as he used to 20 years ago, understandably so. Just something to remember
The studio version hammer-ons always felt like it went on forever. I'm glad it's the live version and he improvised slightly making it sound better. If you heard the studio version rather than the live one, it would be a completely different score 😅
While I love the improvised live guitar solo, I also think the studio version should be exactly the way it is. To me it's a perfect buildup for Matt to stay in his lane as the drums kick into half-time, building to the following section where the guitars start (layering?) and escalating toward the outro. I never get bored during the guitar solo, I just focus on that drum&bass, where the solo is actually secondary to the rhythm section! I actually highly recommend DH take a listen, could be a playlist song for him. Very much Dream Theater-esque.

I second this. Studio version just sounds so clean
Dude he never stops performing. Best performer of our age. The whole band is.

This reaction must have been filmed before you saw them live , because Matt is always incredibly active on stage the dude never stays still

It's my favorite song from Drones, one of my favorites overall. So glad it was requested :)
Most underrated Muse song... idk why other Muse songs became popular, this is Muse at their best.

As soon as I saw this reaction in my feed I said: "Yep. . . Dave's going to like this bass line." Great song. Great reaction. Thanks.

Feel free to check out the Stratovarius song for your own enjoyment. It's an awesome track. Have a great day.
Nice reaction 🚀🚀🚀
Keep the muse coming!!
I VERY OFTEN don't agree with you. but when you say: why can't this song be longer? I agree. This is a song worhty of 10 - 15 minutes....

The Handler is from the same album as The Globalist and both are curiously my favorites from it.

@@chrismartin2663 I didn't know that Thom Yorke's heteronym liked Muse
I LOVE CHRIS!!!!!!! GREAT REACTION!
I waited two years for this reaction) Thank You!
Oh, I just realized... three or even four years)
I've personally aged 7 years in that amount of time. Well worth the wait. More than anything I am relieved he liked it 😂
I luv the Globalist. They always do those kind of songs. The handler is one of my favs tho

You have seen them live!!! Seriously, Matt always runs around on stage?? I don't get why you dis him when you have seen a live muse show?
In fairness, he saw them on the WOTP tour. As Matt ages, he’s less and less active. He still moves, but nowhere near as much as he used to 20 years ago, understandably so. Just something to remember
Has that desert Grove! More of a metal Q.O.T.S.A. type sound. Voice sound Dio ish. Nice review.
Great song. This, Reapers, Psycho, Defector and Globalist on the same album.
Have you noticed Matt sometimes sings with his eyes closed while playing lead guitar. That is insane
Good
Not the best performance. He often sing higher in the third chorus and it's much better than the original. So bad he didn't do it on the record.
Please, react to muse - uprising
P.s. if you do, don’t mention me in the video😁
This is at least better than The Globalist
Most Muse songs are better than The Globalist
I love the handler but also love the globalist. It's a whole experience !
Don't you dare put slander on The Globalist son
His vocal is not good in this one.
Live at Gloria theatre is way better.
