While it might be realistic that Lane never became a famous rock star, nor made it out of Stars Hollow, it's sad that she settled for less than she deserved, despite seeming happy with Zack, and raising their twins. But she feels like a shadow of her former self.
and I had NO idea why she was ever attracted to Zack. Granted he ended up becoming a good husband and father but yuck, what did she see in him? He was shallow and a womanizer.

Dean Winchester deserved so much more. Went to hell and back (literally), died a whole bunch of times, saved the world and lost everyone he loved and still couldn’t get the happy ending he deserved

Raj had it better than Penny and Amy. Penny didn't want kids, then she gives in to Leonard's pressure. Amy should not have had to put up with Sheldon. Sheldon treated her like crap.

Sheldon treated everyone like crap. I wonder what made TBBT popular, when the supposed protagonist himself is insufferable! For me, Sheldon is the most hated character.
Then, adding insult to injury, they had to create a spin-off of this useless character, Young Sheldon, merely to convey that he was unbearable since he was a child. Duh, I could have told you that. Sheldon's attitude didn't develop overnight.
He must have been an A-hole to begin with.
yeah, the Bonnie one is definitly a tear jerker for me, as in the books she gets the best ending whilst in the show she constantly gets the short end of the stick and it is heart breaking.
Also I don’t know about the character being denied a happy ending but I feel like the fans were denied the chance to see Joey Tribiani happy. In the end his career was meh, his love life was meh and his friends were all moving on to their next stages and he was regressing (chick and duck). And yes I watched and enjoyed Joey but separately.
Well ,as for love life it was clear Joey was not the relationship guy. He was more the one night stand type and happy with it.
Also he got a spin off so you need to leave it open ended. Same thing happened with Diane in the Good Wife. But at least her spin off was a hit and got 5 seasons 😂😊
@@jonathanfitzharris4196 That was the real problem. They never should have done the spin-off. And they should have let Joey fall in love during the run of Friends. They still could have had him prepare to move to California, but with someone by his side. Not that everyone has to couple up to have a happy ending, but after the brief thing with Rachel, it was clear a relationship was something he actually wanted.
Poussey’s ending killed me so much. She deserved so much better.
The real tragedy was that her friend and after that happened Taystee ending up in prison for standing up for her death and prisoner rights. Framed for murder of a cop who killed Poussey. Also got an l like make an honorable mention for Dayanara as her love interest left her (and the show) abruptly her storyline and ending went down the toilet.
I came here to say this. Poussey’s ending would’ve been twisty and traumatically gorgeous had they have given her Justice instead of Piscatella.
Easily the most likeable character in the whole OITNB series. I still can't forgive them for that. It killed the series.
@@biljam972what really enraged me was that I am a former Corrections Officer (thankfully). How she died is so outside of procedure. You’re not allowed to lay on ANYONE like that.
He legit should have been fired and brought up on charges.

I agree I always thought it was crap that poor Raj didn't end up with someone, when he desperately wanted to be in a good relationship. I have no idea why the writers did that to him
The writers didn't give him much character development either. He has many flaws which he & his friends are aware of, yet he doesn't try to address them.

Why didn't the writers have a major character be happy to never have kids? Neither Bernadette nor Penny want them.
The one that deserved a spin off is Raj. Have him find someone and leave.
Agreed, even if Raj ended up being the only single one out of his pals, it would have been nice to have seen him be happy with someone. Though he was seen with Sarah Michelle Geller at the end, so who knows...

It was Neal/Baelfire from Once Upon a Time for me. I still remember watching that episode when it first aired. I was a sobbing mess. Neal deserved so much better
Definitely Neal. He deserved sooo much better. Even if CaptainSwan was endgame, Neal could’ve co-parented with Emma, and mended his relationship with his dad.
I think all of the Captain Swan big story arcs would have went better with Neal instead of Hook. Neal dealing with Emma as the Dark One, being turned into a Dark One, and then the rescue from Hades. It just fits better thematically. I know audiences like Jen and Collin’s chemistry but I think Swanfire would have made a better narrative.

Cordelia Chase didn't die in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She graduated from high school, moved to Los Angeles, and her plot line continued on Angel. She DID eventually die in the final season- one of the last few episodes of season 5 of Angel, in fact. I believe it was called "You're Welcome." And she didn't get the ending she deserved in that one either- she could have ended up with Angel, but Joss killed off her character instead.
Cordelia deserved better
They did her worse in Angel. Made her ascend to godhood, but she was possessed by an evil god, Jasmine, who used her body to return to Earth and used her to statutory rape Connor to become pregnant to create the god's new vessel, then she incubated Jasmine's new body in an accelerated gestation, then the process of giving birth killed her horribly and painfully.
During the possession, whether or not Cordelia had any level of consciousness left, I don't know, but it is still nightmarish either way.
They dropped the ball using Buffy footage for Cordy not getting the ending she deserved.
They SHOULD have used the actual reason/plot line of her death on Angel. Smh.🤦♀️

@@user-lb9xw4xf2qShe was conscious of it. In season 5 of Angel, she asked angel if he killed the b word that inhabited her body. :-/. What’s worse about Angel, Charisma said she didn’t want to return unless he promised her she wouldn’t be killed off. Joss promised her he wouldn’t, but after she finished her final scene and left the building, he went back and filmed the last scene where Angel finds out she died. That was awful.
The fact that I literally invested in the Veronica Mars series by donating to the Kickstarter is why the ending to that show hurt more than anything else.
It felt like the creator Rob Thomas gave us all a big slap to the face.
I absolutely agree 100%!!! I feel he was trying to ensure that the fans would never get it brought back again!! In my mind, their wedding is the end

I think it's supposed to be a different scientist stepping into the accelerator to look for Sam (don't quote me about that!), but I've never checked it out.
@@badkitty4922, I have watched the reboot. And sorry for the spoilers, but you were right. It is a different scientist, and they specifically mentioned that's why he leaped. And here are a few more spoilers for you. Their project had been defunded/shut down. But after the new guy leaped, the project was restarted. They also brought back a character from one of Sam Beckett's leaps from the original series, and one of the characters is one of Al's daughters.
And they spelt his name wrong which made it even worse.

I was shocked that Logan was killed off in the final episode of Veronica Mars.
I think everyone was. I feel like that's what they were going for. Either that or they were trying to ensure that the fans would stop trying to bring the show back. In my mind, it ends with the wedding

I'm not surprised people forget about Silver from the reboot of 90210. She finds out she has breast cancer and has to freeze her eggs, every guy she's dated is now involved with someone else and it just kinda sucks for her.
She was my favorite charcter and the only one from the orignal series left she was a kid in the orignal series

I’d say the ultimate example of a character being denied a happy ending was Col. Henry Blake on MASH. He had his papers and was on his way home, only to be killed when his plane to be shot down offscreen.
The revelation was so shocking that the show had to promise not to kill off any more characters.
I think Regina Mills should’ve been number one on the list instead of just being an honorable mention. She truly deserved to be happy after fighting tooth and nail to turn around her miserable and unhappy past, and she did find happiness only to have it taken away from her over and over again!
I agree!!! Regina became one of my favorite characters after Season 3. She worked so hard to be better for Henry, and I loved her with Robin!!! It absolutely pissed me off when he died!!!

On The Big Bang Theory, it was Penny who deserved better. The writers wouldn't just let her be happy childfree. She said she didn't want kids. The writers forced kids on her.
I keep hearing how Penny didn't want children. What about Bernie, she ended up with 2 when she and Howard nearly broke up over her not wanting them.
Penny not wanting children wasn’t even a thing before the final season. And women (and men) claiming they don’t want children until they actually become parents is not a rare phenomenon.
Actually that is a very realistic thing. People claim they don't want children until they do get children and realise they did in fact want children
totally agree. Mariages and babies are always episodes which have high audience so all the showrunners include them but Leonard and her would have been the exemple of a childfree couple. Even Bernadette and Howard didn't deserve 2 babies in such a short time (even if it was a good opportunity to show how a couple can b unhappy with a suprised pregnancy).
Oh I’m so happy I’ve never seen Lost cause that little synopsis told me I would have lost my SHIT watching that unfold live😭
Samantha Jones from sex and the city really deserved better, and we really want to friend like her.
Caitlin Snow from the Flash the show really messed with her. S1 they brought back Ronnie just for him to die again, S2 she falls for Hunter who is later revealed to be Zoom after she watched him get stabbed, S3 she falls for Julian but then becomes Killer Frost and they split apart before they could be together. S4 to S7 they backed off her and focused on the happy love stories of literally everyone else in the cast and she and Killer Frost are sisters. NOT FOR LONG cuz S8 was just stupid Caitlin tried dating again but she thought that Ronnie who died in S2 was alive so she ditches that only to find out it was a trap and some hell monster escaped leading to Frost having to fight and later being killed (the episode ends with Cait trying to save her WTF). Nobody took the time to help her grieve cuz they were focusing on their own which is understandable. But when Barry found out Cait was trying to bring her back Barry destroys the lab and leaves Cait on the floor of shattered glass and research (real heroic) Caitlin takes a hiatus from the team and tries again only to turn into a variant of Frost called Khione. Once Khione arrived the Team VOTES on whether to bring Frost or Caitlin back (like WTF) only to let Khione live and they accept that Caitlin is dead and she did it to save Frost. (Then they go out dancing :/ ) S9 was about exploring Khione’s powers and by the end she leaves and gives Caitlin her body back and everyone is happy that she is back. Barry did apologize to Cait but it still felt a little short handed.
In conclusion Cait’s happy ending should’ve been happy in a relationship with her sister not what the Flash had done to her (sry for long comment but i jumped at the opportunity)

I would like to have seen her and the guy she was dating in season eight just move somewhere across country together, far away from Star labs and all the madness, and leave it behind.
Joey Tribianni - Friends
All his friends got married and had kids, while he remained single. He deserved to find that someone and be happy as well
"it was incredibly unfair to both Logan and Veronica"... and to the fans, some of whom spent their own money getting the show back and did not deserve to get screwed by the idiotic notion that a strong woman can't have character development if she's in a happy relationship (yes, that was the rationale behind killing him).
Bonnie is the one who deserved EVERYTHING more than anyone on that damn show! Racist a holes made her go through hell and didn’t even give her a happy ending 😭

I agree, so many tv characters get screwed over for happy endings, they don’t need to end up with a significant other, but alone, career stunted and even dead is tv usually finishes their arcs! Greys is big on lots of their characters ending up either dead or moving away alone!!

What about Dr Spencer Reid? He never found his true love even though that they planted Maxi in the last season it definitely was only two episodes, and with all the trauma he had over the years he should at least been on them for honorable mention, and also losing Gideon also made him more tougher
Yes, Reid would deserve a spin-off for himself, as he is a major attraction to the show. The last season made him suffer more than another one characters and it became totally illogical and spoile d the show.
Id throw in Anya from Buffy and Jenny from the L Word.
Anya was one of my favorite characters and the way she died for nothing and didnt even get a goodbye, nor did anyone care to confirm she was actually dead.
And Jenny had so much potential and I saw a lot of myself in her in the inital seasons. Then the unspeakable final season of the L Word happened and turned her into an insufferable face value character and all her depth and growth was just gone. Just villain with no chance at the healing she was looking for the entire time. 🥴
Honorable mention to almost everyone on the Walking Dead. Glenn, Carl, Andrea, Rosita...
It was weird to see them using a scene from Buffy for Cordelia when she died well into the last seasons of Angel.
That had me shaking my head and ready to rant until I remembered how her "child" was born.
What about Tara? I was gutted.
And I had to stop watching The Walking Dead when the season (7?) finale of Negan - Not John Winchester! NOOO! 😱😱😭😭 - started swinging his barbwired bat Lucille at the camera's POV.
It set off a PTSD flashback and I didn't find out who died until a few months after the show was into the following season.
I was pissed off about Anya's final significant storyline; she was a spirit of vengeance that punished unfaithful lovers, but before her own wedding, she cheats? I understand the point is meant to be irony, but it felt wildly out of character.Then she died.

I agree with these but I also think Kieth Scott from One Tree Hill, he was killed off way too soon, he never got a chance to marry Karen, had no idea Karen was even pregnant with his baby, yeah, we see them together in Karen's dream but not in reality, Lily never even had a chance to actually meet him. And Billy Hargrove from Stranger Things, he barely had a chance. He deserved more than to be killed off even if he did it to protect Eleven. I would have liked to have seen more of him.
Fiona Gallagher was really the heart of the show. After Emmy Rossum quit, it just wasn't the same.
Fiona's departure is justified, true, but nobody knows what happens to her afterwards. It's like the whole family just stopped caring despite everything she'd done for them. The writers could have thought of some off-screen storyline for her...
There were some mentions of her in the 10th season, but it nearly killed me, when in the last season Liam couldn't remember who his legal guardian was. And nobody seemed to remember about Fiona by the end of the show (except Frank, maybe). It's just heartbreaking.
I agree! It didn't even make sense that they didn't mention her in relation to Liam since she was still his legal guardian. She doesn't even think to transfer that guardianship to Lip before she leaves--and this only a few years after going to court for it and ensuring the judge that she knows it is a lifetime commitment. Nobody even bothers to call Fiona when Frank dies. And not only does Ian not invite her to his wedding--he doesn't even mention her. And when they do finally mention Fiona in some bonus scene, they say she's competing in some reality dating show. It was so clear the writers hated her by then.
Jerry from Anne with an E didn't deserve what happened to him.

Willow and Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They were a good couple and Tara didn't deserve to die. I read that she was supposed to be revived, but that didn't end up happening and while Willow found love again, it just wasn't the same, in my opinion.

To me the worst happy ending stolen from a character was Rachel not moving to France to work where she wanted and possibly meet someone better suited to her in Friends, just to appease fans of their on/off relationship. I don’t like the show but I had seen a number of episodes and wondered how it ended. I detest the happy ending trope especially when quickly wrapped up in the end with characters don’t work together and in reality they’d split up shortly after (aforementioned, himym, Mindy project if Danny really didn’t change his mind about her working)
That's why I loved Schitts Creek's ending so much. Alexis and Ted have such a mature, thoughtful breakup, and even though it's sad, it's clear they made the right decision. In the end, she's still happy because she's embarking on this new career that she's built and striking out on her own, but in a much better, happier place emotionally. The accomplishment for her is that she now knows how to love someone and be loved, she knows what having a real friend is like, and she's healed her relationship with her family. If she meets and marries a guy someday, that would just be the cherry on the sundae.
Daenerys targaryen was truly robbed of a happy ending im still sad what happened to her in season 8😢

Sorry but Dani was always going to go bad. She'd been killing people all over the place but a lot of people didn't notice because she was being treated like a saviour. And George doesn't really do happy endings. Jon's ending, or maybe Sam and Gilly's is as happy as you're going to get. x

Poussey deserved better. She was a nonviolent offender. But her death was a catalyst for the following season and was eerily mirrored by the murder of George Floyd
That really was creepy. I remember thinking "oh now THAT couldn't actually happen in real life, right??"

Wait a sec... that Cordelia scene you showed... wasn't that the big fake-out where the next scene was a funeral and the camera panned up to reveal it was someone else's and Cordelia had survived? She got a long run on Angel afterwards, and I can't quite recall how she died, but that episode with her as a ghost was fucking fantastic.
Marissa Cooper, The OC
Martha from Doctor Who. She was a Doctor, someone who saves lives. At the end she marries Mickey of all people and becomes an alien hunter. Why? Why did she go from saving lives to murder. And why Micky, seriously? Why? Because their skin is the same color? Or because of my least favorite, pair the spares trope? As well, Tara from Buffy. I know her death spurred on Willow to become Dark Willow, and her unholy trail of vengeance was awesome, but it's bury the gays, and also Willow hooks up with Kennedy, someone who was just awful afterwards.
Except that that was a happy ending for her. Like it wasn’t ideal and it was bizarre to pair her with Mickey who she didn’t interact with on the main show, but she did get a happy ending.
Glenn from TWD and George from Grey's were 2 of the most shocking deaths I've seen in TV for sure. But Keith Scott at least deserved an honourable mention. As for Justin Foley I hated it but it made sense for the recklessness of his character to not have thought about that and contract it. Still so sad though and sadly a reality of that life.
I would have to say Maggie from TWD instead of Glenn. I feel like he was always going to get his comic book death anyway. Even in her spin off show with Negan, she looked angry the whole time.
Laurel Lance from Arrow. She was brutally murdered in the show, and then her sister gives up on trying to bring her back, and then Oliver brings back literely everybody else he lost expect her. She gave so much to others, and dedicated her life towards helping others. Worse. Sge wasn't even killed because she was the black Canary. She was killed due to the actions of others.
I heard that part of the reason she was killed off is because the writers hated black canary for some reason, her getting killed off and the reason for it plus the annoying Felicity-Oliver relationship and other writing decisions ruined the show for me. It was so good for its first few seasons then it took a nosedive like almost every other dc series on CW.
@@LanternsLight It's very obivous that the showrunners for season 3 and 4 hated Laurel, and that's why she was pushed to the background. She was killed because of Olicity. They can lie and pretend It's not the reason, but it obivously is. She was a threat to Olicity, because Oliver still loved her. And they didn't want anyone to be a threat to Olicity
@@msfriendsfan4ever788 Yeah, the olicity bias from the showrunners ruined everything, they kept pushing it everywhere too, I have no problem showing characters in an relationship but when you ruin the supporting characters and their stories by pushing the relationship to the point where it’s unbearable and drowns every other character arc that’s when things go down the drain, The showrunners for supernatural did that with dean and castiel and it ruined that show too, the ship obsessed fans are partly responsible for that one though.
Jadzia Dax on Deep Space Nine. There are many reasons to hate Dukat but killing Jadzia ranks pretty high with me.
I'll always hate what Gilmore Girls did to Lane Kim. She should have never ended up with Zach.
Regina once said 'Robin isn't my happy ending. My happy ending is finally feeling at home in the world. Robin is just a part of that world'. In other words, despite they were soulmates, she understood that her happiness never depended on him. In fact, it was at the end of the series, when she truly got that happy ending that she described in 4x20.
I'm going to pretend that the last few minutes of Veronica Mars, Season 4, never happened, and that she and Logan are living happily ever after together.

Joey was fine if you ignore the spin-off show. If you just view it through Friends, Joey maintained a successful career, and kept in regular contact with the other friends as they mature in different ways.
Steve's story isn't finished yet, we still got one more season.
Elliot Waugh The Magicians. Already losing his romantic love I hate how the show ended and he was separated from his platonic love and BFF and other friends. His character arc was great (2nd only to MH) and he deserved so much more. Still love the show so much though.

While this was unavoidable since Cory Monteith passed away, Finn Hudson was denied is happy ending on Glee. He never got to become a teacher for the Glee Club, see his stepbrother get married, or end up with Rachel Berry or anyone at all for that matter. And he was still in his teen years when he died.
Even though he still got to be a father in the end, Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother was denied having a long-term partner. Sure it is great he got to raise a child but he has to raise her alone and he could have been capable of being in a committed relationship and having a wife. Not to mention going back to his old playbook ways and his friend Ted getting together with his ex-wife without asking him which Ted wouldn't do. Tracy Mcconnell also lost her boyfriend Max and didn't get to live a long life with Ted and their two kids.
Carl Grimes, Glenn Rhee, and Abraham Ford from The Walking Dead. Carl never got to see Judith grow up, build and maintain his relationship with Michonne further, and get married and have a child of his own in the end. He was living in world ruled by the dead where he lost a lot and would lose more including his dad but he still had a lot to live for and was too young to die. And Glenn never got to see and raise his child with Maggie and Abraham never got to start a new family with Sasha after losing his own family, as we saw in the imaginary Sunday dinner scene.

There is an attempt to give his death a bitter-sweet moment, which is Illyria changing from her blue-ish Old One form to normal Fred appearance, thus he is with the woman he loves as he dies.
While not to the same extent, it is also sad for Illyria, as she has been increasingly gaining human emotions, so had been struggling with guilt about Fred, and now grieves over Wesley's death.
The canonical comics are pretty harsh, too. He doesn't even get the peace of death, lingering around as a ghost.
Eventually there is a big time travel undo of the Senior Partners' destruction of LA, but alas, Wesley's death is still sustained, though he gets to move on this time, which is something, I guess.

Yes! His death wasn't a fitting one for the hunter, brother, man, etc that he was.
Him dying was probably going to be the only way to end the series but he certainly deserved a far better death.
I disagree. After enough of him dying and being brought back to life and all the pain he went through, he finally got to rest in peace and was reunited with the people he cared about the most in heaven.
@gwa73 what you wrote is true. He went to Heaven and was reunited with everyone he loved, even Sam when it was his turn.
So both Sam and Dean were rewarded with a perfect After Life.
Sam got to marry, have a family, and die as an old man after finding a really good life for himself. A happy ending to his life.
Dean was impaled by what looked like rebar during a fight that he SHOULD have won.
It was a fluke, and as dumb as dying of a burst appendix, not a death you'd expect or hope for him. So, not a happy ending of his life.

Bonnie Bennett and Enzo deserved a happy ending after all of the suffering they'd both been through, I really truly have not forgiven Stefan or got over Enzo's death out of all of the deaths on TVD. Bonnie & Enzo were the couple I did not know I wanted to be together until they were a surprise in season seven and then they were one of my favorites!

Alex Karev on Grey´s Anatomy deserved better. I know the actor quit, but I don´t think he ever would leave Jo. Especially for Izzie after she left him and had his children without telling him. I know the show had (to) may deaths, but they should have killed him off instead😅
I would add Tara from True Blood to this list. She was such an important character, and in the end, her death wasn't even shown on screen. It was such an insult to that character.

Fiona is constantly dating the worst men she can find, and the handful of times she’s actually with a decent dude she completely fucks it up. Example: Mike was a fantastic boyfriend to her, and she fucked his brother. Several times.
I understand that she’s had a rough time, and she had to grow up fast.
I actually thought the abandoning of the family was very in character by that point. She didn’t care about anyone but herself anymore, and just wanted to live the wild teen years she had missed.
It would’ve been different if she kept in contact with everyone but Frank, and came to the big events like the wedding. But no, she left them all in the dust and never looked back.
Rachel Green was just as toxic as Ross Gellar was. They were so selfish because they wouldn't ever allow each other to be happy with someone else. I felt sorry for Emma for having to have parents like them.

I definitely agree; although he's not thrown to the wayside in the final season, he definitely wasn't given a lot of meat to his role; in the end, he got nothing. (Except for a broken arm) Whereas...
Korra and Asami become a couple; not to mention that Korra, after defeating Kuvira, is finally past her demons and settled into her own skin as the Avatar, and Asami has made peace with her father before his sacrifice and has become CEO and owner of his company, Future Industries; Even Bolin, Varrick, and Zhu Li, attain happy endings. (Bolin gets Opal back for good as his girlfriend and joins Zhu Li's staff when she becomes Republic city's new president in "Turf Wars"; And Varrick and Zhu Li marry at the end of the show)
In the upcoming third Legend of Korra Graphic Novel (The first two being "Turf Wars" and "Ruins of the Empire") They need to do more with Mako; give him a useful arc and maybe even a new long term love interest as well.

Wu even abdicated the throne. Honestly, Mako has more chemistry with Wu than with Korra and Asami.
His relationships with Korra and Asami didn't work to say kindly.
What salt on wounds? He stayed on good terms with his exes and support their relationship.
Personally, he has much better chemistry and relationship development with Wu than either Korra or Asami.
Villanelle deserved better, I was so shocked when they killed her. After 4 seasons all I wanted was a happy ending for Villanelle, a life free of the 12 and be happy with Eve. Also killing Robin was so bad, one of the worst things the writers did (they left Rolan parentless and Robin fatherless). Regina got her happy ending and then they ripped it away form her, she had to see everyone else be happy and also know that the evil queen version of her got a happy ending but she didn't. It was so unfair to this characters, I wish the writers didn't do that to them.
