You missed Dr. Drake Ramoray from Days of Our Lives
Jason Gideon- Criminal Minds
I wish Charlie from Lost could’ve gotten off the island and be written off
Prudence "Prue" Halliwell, the "Super Witch", "Wicca Wonder", eldest sister on the original "Charmed". How dare you forget her!
Turns out she was fired from 'Charmed'
this is actors who wanted to leave, not actors who were fired
It was more like, it was her or Alyssa. Alyssa was hired second and honestly EVERYONE hated her, so it would have made a lot more sense to replace her than Shannon.
@@DryBones271I think Shannon also had a history of being difficult on earlier shows she was in, which is why people remain uncertain, even though in Charmed there was plenty of criticism against Alyssa too.
Note that Shannen Doherty was ACTUALLY fired. She didn't wanted to leave, it was Aaron Spelling's decision to let her go after continuous spats with her co-star Alyssa Milano.
Well, for me the saddest leave for this reason was the death of Sweets in Bones. 😥 He was my favourite. 🥺
And Vincent!
I watched Bones with my mother and brother and we were devastated with Sweets ‘ death
John Francis Daley didn't want to leave Bones. He asked for time off to direct a movie, and rather than work with him they killed off the character.
I was just about to comment something similar! Thank you! 🥰
Honorable mention to Tasha Yar being killed on Star Trek: The Next Generation after Denise Crosby wanted to pursue projects where she actually had something to do instead of just push buttons on a console
EP at the time Rick Berman was an absolute Tier 1 jerk to all the women on the set of TNG, Denise Crosby was the first to get it the worst.
Or Jadiza Dax
But she left the show before it was really popular, and the only role of note she got was in Pet Sematary.
Edith Bunker, All in the Family. Jean Stapleton didn't feel there was more she could do with the character so they gave her a tearjerking sendoff.
You are correct I was mentioning that McLean Stevenson Henry Blake should have been on there I completely forgot about Edith Bunker
I think Amber Benson [even though her character's death was planned to happen even before Willow figured out she was a lesbian] would want a word about the only main character to die on Buffy.
And I'm not counting Buffy and Angel who came back.
And Spike. Remember, Spike also heroically dies in the Buffy finale, but returns to life in Angel. Though on Angel, I think Doyle died because the actor wanted to leave. And not so much wanted to leave, but Cordelia gets ascended to the higher plane, returns to Earth to suffer, then killed.
Cate's death in NCIS opened a new beautiful storyline of Ziva, but I missed Cate a lot. And now when I rewatching the show like her even more
Alycia debnam-carey wanted to continue to be on the 100. She was willing to go back and forth from fear the walking dead to the 100. The producers decided not to do that. Alycia didn't want to leave
Grey's Anatomy had just about every original character leave to the point where I stopped watching after the third season . I couldn't get used to all whole new cast. 😩
At the end of the third seasons most main characters were still there, with the exception of Burke. Most main characters sticked around until at least seasons 6/8.
you can watch till season 16
The death of Patrick Dempsey’s character caused both me and my mom to rage quit completely on the show. We won’t even watch the “original seasons” anymore because of that stunt!!
I managed to the sixth but they also got too promiscuous (even for a medical series) - they couldn’t keep a single relationship alive, which made following the character development pointless.
Lance Sweets on Bones. How is that one not on this list?
Exactly what I was thinking.
But I think he had considered to come back. He only wanted a breakt. At the end he was completely killed off the show.. I loved that guy. :/
I consider this a hobby of mine figuring out why Favorite characters from favorite shows decide to leave John Francis Daley got some opportunities to work behind the camera especially with the National Lampoon's Vacation franchise but it does not sound like it was interesting to me because I thought he was great but I also really enjoyed John Boyd as agent Aubrey who pretty much took his place on the show even though it was a different kind of character
The other intern who got sniped that with that music killed me. They really knew how to pull you into so you felt for these characters
Kind of surprised that Emma Caulfield made this list in honorable mentions from Buffy but Kristin Sutherland who played Joyce Summers didn't make the list. If I remember correctly she wanted to leave the show to spend more time with her family but the way her character died and the impact that it had on all the characters made her loss all that more ingrained in my mind.
Crazy they didn’t include characters from the CW Arrowverse, because OH BOY! There were so many.
They need their own list
That'd be a separate list entirely.
In most cases the actor came back in those shows as a doppelganger or in flashbacks/dream/fantasy sequences. So they only left as a main character not fully from the show in most cases.
Kal Penny’s character death was so shocking when I saw it. People weren’t killed off on House and his character was so likable.
I don’t know if this really counts, but towards the end of the 2014-2018 series Star Wars Rebels, the character Kanan Jarrus was killed off because the voice actor Freddie Prinze Jr agreed to voice him only if he was killed off at the end. When the show’s main creator, Dave Filoni, was coming up with Kanan’s death, he had a very hard time doing so because he was going through the loss of his own father and tried to get Freddie to change his mind, but to no avail, causing the heartbreak of thousands of fans everywhere, including me
What about Anthony Edwards? (Dr. Mark Greene from ER) I'm pretty sure he wanted to leave the show, and wanted to be killed off.
Saddest TV death ever.😢
@@erinmalone2669I literally just rewatched this. Crushed me worse the second time
@@miak1684 Anthony Edwards forunderrated gen x crush❤️❤️❤️❤️
OMG I'm forever scarred from from this!
Or the girl Lucy who got stabbed by the loon and died that hurt
Same actor, two different shows: Julian McMahon's Cole from "Charmed" and Jess LaCroix from "FBI: Most Wanted"
Shanon Dougherty from Charmed left as Prudence Hallowell because of personality conflicts.
Nope, she was fired
Y’all forgot abt Jackson west from the rookie 😭
I just started watching hoping to see this, guess I can click off now
That one hurt the most 😭
YESS, was just thinking about that😢😢
Good one
@@oreodeplata922it’s a great show and better after that guy died. He was so bratty pushing woke crap on and off set. The show is awesome now
Anya (Buffy) died during the SERIES finale, didnt she? I do not know if that qualifies her for an honorable mention since she practically left set one or two days before the others....
Emma asked to be written off / killed because she wanted to make sure that her character wouldn't get called in for Season 5 (or after, if it continued) of Angel or any other type of spinoff / comic.
@@pastasalad6350 okay, I did Not know that. Thank you
@@nig4804 Exactly, she said she wouldn’t return to Buffy , so she asked to be killed off. SMG also refused to return, that s why we don’t see her in Angel , not even in the episode where she is dating the Immortal in Italy
@@pastasalad6350 Well, then that was a bit pointless of her, wasn't it? 🤪 Angel died and ended up with a whole spin-off. Spike died and still managed to show up in Angel and all the comics. Buffy herself died...twice and yet somehow the series continued. The whole point of the season 7 villain was pretty much to bring back characters who previously died (at least for a cameo.)
"And if I kill you?"
"Trust me, won't help"
That's gloomy 😢
Not true she lent her likeness and voice to the canon follow up comics@alucinado1021
Ty Borden on Heartland. His relationship with Amy was the heart of the show and sadly, some of the magic has been lost.
I feel like Henry from M*A*S*H should have been on here. His death helped change the tone of the show.
And it allowed him to star in 'Hello Larry".Talk about an opportunity.
When I saw the headline my first thought was Dale on the Walking Dead. When Frank Darabont was fired, he wanted to go too.
Jessica brown Findlay (Sybil Crawley Branson) should also be in this list. Her death in season three of Downton Abbey was so sad and just like Dan stevens, she wanted to leave the show to expand her career and do other projects.
I'm surprised Henry Blake from M*A*S*H* wasn't on the list.
That would have been my #1. The cast didn't even know.
Wasn’t that late in the run anyway?
@@cwcamper9091totally agree a funny story was first the writers were all sitting there and somebody brought up the fact that Henry Blake playing Should Crash and he should die and he should die and they all stood there in silence because they knew it was right the right thing to do the funny part was when Gary Burghoff who played radar found out he said 2 McLean Stevenson you son of a bitch you'll probably win an Emmy for this and yes I'm sure he was only kidding
@erinmalone2669 no it was during season 3 they would run with Harry Morgan as Colonel Potter until the end of the show season 11
There is another list like this on WatchMojo that lists Henry Blake.
ill never get over JTs death in Degrassi
same, when the nurse said he was dead i was shocked because i assumed, that he would just be in some kind of therapy possibly paralyzed in some way
same here it was gut wrenching @@JP-pp2tn
@@JennNofficial i think time froze for me for a few seconds and i was like did i hear that correctly
did for me too. then I cried after the episode a lot @@JP-pp2tn
Really dated one, but Linda Hamilton's character on "Beauty & the Beast" back in the 80s. Being the titular 'Beauty,' the show barely eeked out a 3rd after she was killed off 😅
Written by George RRmartin-of course he would kill off the titular character.
@@melyssaswensen6287 True, though this one wasn't his decision. Linda wanted to leave since she was pregnant and wanted to have time off to get ready and bond with her baby. May have given Martin the idea, though, seeing the impact her character's death had. Dude probably got off on the fan uproar and worked out how to replicate that many times over.
warrick on CSI should be on this top ten, come on!!!!
I was thinking Speed on CSI Miami, too.
James Evans (John Amos) on Good Times. His death was really tragic because of the way it played out on screen. The family was celebrating and receiving telegrams of congratulations, and the last one came explaining his death in a car accident. The reaction from Florida was heartbreaking
At least, some of the actors wanted to pursue other careers by playing other characters in different show.
Anya was killed on the final episode of BtVS. It wasnt going to affect future shows. Also, the actress who played Sybil Crawley on Downton Abbey wanted to leave, so her character died in childbirth.
Actually, Alycia wanted to stay on and do both shows
I can't believe you guys put Kate's death on NCIS as an honorable mention, it deserves to be at least at the top.
Biggest one for me personally is Jack Thornton from When Calls the Heart. DEVASTATING!!! Broke the heart of every “Heartie” worldwide! I was still bursting into tears months later.
Where is my Dr. Drake Ramoray falling off the elevator shaft?
that wasn’t because Joey wanted to leave; it was because Joey was fired
Rayna james from Nashville!!! That episode always makes me cry so hard, its soo sad!
Not sure Emma Caulfield (Anya on Buffy The Vampire Slayer) doesn’t really count, since she was killed in the series finale.
I miss George O'Malley the most!!!!
Emma Caufield died in the finale. WTF extra shows was she denying to do?
Christopher LaSalle from NCIS:New Orleans
Terry Farrell leaving Star Trek Deep Space 9 for Becker was the worst thing to happen to Star Trek until JJ Abrams and Bad Robot came along
I've heard conflicting stories. I've heard she quit and I've heard she got fired. I understand Rick Berman was a nightmare behind the scenes. Maybe we'll never know.
Maude Flanders( The Simpsons)?
No, not at all, all of these were my favorite pics. Have a happy tuesday morning, Jen. Take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
Rayna James, Connie Britton, on Nashville 😢😢😢
Anya died in the series finale - how is that being killed off because the actor requested it?
Because Angel was still going on and she could have been brought on there
@@Denis-89 Killed off or not, she still could have ended up on Angel. Spike did. Actually, Angel himself got a whole spin-off even though he died at one point. Buffy also died twice...didn't stop her.
@@pierrehun yes, but she wanted to be killed off so that she would not appear on Angel
First thought was Nicolette Sheridan but then I remembered that she got fired.
Henry Blake.
Early "Lost" show runners swore Charlie was the the only one that wouldn't be killed off. They were wrong.
Natalie from Yellowejackets was stupidly killed off because Juliette Lewis wanted out of the show.
Lexa's death did not "f(a)ll into a bury your gays trope" it defined it! And Rothenburg's apology was weak backtracking and came only after he cowered under the bed and left Javier Grillo-Marxuach, the episode's writer, to deal with the fallout.
Honorable mentions: Anya? She died in the last episode of the series. Why is she on this list?
Yeah, but she ask to be killed in the finale
"Emma Caulfiedl played the only main charakter to die"
Spike: Am I a joke to you?
Justin Black wanted to be killed off of NCIS: New Orleans in order to spend time with his family more. Andrew Lincoln left The Walking Dead in season 9 in order to spend more time with his family also.
Lucas black but yeah your correct
only thing is Rick wasn’t killed off and now he’s back his spin-off
NCIS, season five. Jenny Shepard, played by Lauren Holly. Killed off at the end of season five, ending a three season arc.
Yeah but this is talking about actors and actresses who wanted to leave the shows so their character was killed off from what I read she was always only supposed to be on for about 3 years
Dana Plato from Diff’rent Strokes after she got pregnant and that one actress who played Judy Winslow on Family Matters once Steve Urkel became more popular
Both were not killed.
They were written off.
@@kamsismith But this video is about KILLED OFF characters
Judy just walked upstairs and never came back down.
Jadzia Dax from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 😥
The two saddest deaths in Downton Abbey (Sybil and Matthew) both happened because the actors wanted to leave the show. I don’t hold it against the actors but both of those deaths (especially Sybil’s) broke my heart and caused me to stop watching the show for a little while because it made me so depressed
Alex Whitman on Roswell. Colin Hanks asked to leave so he could do movie roles he was being offered. So they killed Alex a few episodes before the season 2 finale.
Megan Boone from the Blacklist as Elizabeth Keene. After she was killed off in season 8, I had no desire to watch the show anymore. Because one of the major drives for that show was to find out what she was to Red Reddington. And when they killed her off and they never answered that question that they teased from the beginning, the show to me became a major disaster and such a mess to watch. I don't by any means blame the actors, I blame the writers.
Haven't heard of most of these shows. Further proof of what an old fart I have become. I figured McLean Stevenson might be on here for wanting to leave MASH.
Ryan Cooley, who portrayed JT York, from Degrassi, the next generation. He actually wanted his character to be killed off, because he wanted to go to college. I don’t know if that’s a good reason to be on a list like that, but in my book it is.
I would say it counts. It's just a mutually agreed upon death, rather than a spiteful one.
sucks he asked to be killed off instead of him just going away by moving or going to college fara away
I can’t help it, but with George in that suit has he gotten cuter? 😆
Technically, Alyca Debnam Carey didn't want to leave The 100, she got a main cast character on Fear the Walking Dead, and AMC and The CW couldn't figure out a way to make it work so she could be on both.
You should def have put John Shelby from Peaky Blinders in your list
I find that one funny because Joe Cole wanted out to pursue "different roles" but then ended playing a character that was nearly identical to John in a show that's nearly identical to Peaky Blinders.
@@butterflybunnyunicorn2518 yes but that isn’t the only role he has had since Peaky
Just a note: on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Anya died in the finale. Emma Caufield didn't leave, the series ended. If you wanted to talk about a character on that show being killed off due to the actor wanting to leave, mention Dr. Maggie Walsh, who was supposed to be the season 4 big bad. Instead they had to kill her off prematurely, which messed with the entire season arc.
Um, Col. Henry Blake from M*A*S*H isn't even given an honorable mention?
Aww, they really don’t wanna stick around anymore?
Jack Dalton - MacGyver (2016) TV series filmed in LA first 2 seasons. Moved to Georgia for season 3 beyond. George Eads didn’t want to be apart from his family. Asked for reduced schedule/release. His character went on a mission midway through season 3. Eventually his character was killed off in season 5 in an offscreen explosion. His friends found out who had his death and got justice for him.’
Richie: Highlander- Stan Kirsh
DS9: Jadzia Dax - Terry Ferrel asked for a reduced schedule. Instead they killed her character off.
Vincent Nigel Murray- Bones - one the rotating Squinterns- wanted to pursue other projects. Was killed off by a rogue sniper.
0:06
Technically didn’t get killed off but Elena Gilbert from TVD should get a mention.
Linda Hamilton's Catherine from the late 80's tv version of "Beauty and the Beast." She was pregnant at the time and wanted to get ready for her coming baby, but her departure essentially gutted the show and it was cancelled the very next season when the ratings fell off a cliff. I still miss that story...
every character from greys anatomy who has left would fit this list
neal once upon a time.
Top 10 Video Game Characters Fans Initially Hated at first
DR. LANCE SWEETS FROM BONES!!!
Crystal Reed from Teen Wolf.
George on Grey's is ironic given how many LGBTQ characters Shonda writes now.
I'm only on season 10but it's wierd there is no gay men as main characters
@@Sileainethere are, keep watching
@@SpartanAngel06there is one, I recall. The other one is hard to call a supporting cast cause he barely has any storyline unfortunately
Dawson’s dad, Mitch Leery, comes to mind.
James evans sr from good times
“Damn, damn, damn!”
Exactly what's your favorite animaniacs song
How about Ghost Whispering or Criminal Minds
You forgot Tasha Yar (Denise Cosby), Star Trek: The Next Generation
Alyson Archer on Teen Wolf and Cordelia Chase on Angel.
Melendez on the Good Doctor should make the list. And there's the biggest shocker in history...Henry on MASH.
Yes I also mentioned Dr. Melendez in a comment. I really liked how his character had grown to like and respect Shaun, and then they killed him off!
Will Gardner on The Good Wife
I loved Kutner on House. He was so sweet. That episode had me in tears during almost every scene.
In addition to Lexa (and Lincoln). Thomas McDonell (the actor who plays Finn in the first two seasons of The 100) suggested that his own character should die, cause it would benefit the show.
Jen from Dawson’s creek and glen from walking dead
Megan Boone from The Blacklist. The Blacklist is an example of a TV show that doesn't have an end game and only continued so they can collect a paycheck.
And what about the actress portraying Maggie Walsh in Buffy the vampire slayer? She was going to be the big villain on season 4 but due to that, we had a very weird big bad plot with Adam.
They should have had Lucy from ER
Beth from the walking dead, I cried my eyes out haven't watched it consistently since then
The death of JT Yorke shocked the absolute hell out of me. Ryan Cooley left Degrassi for college tho so I respect. It was so sad watching the actors find out during a table read.
Veronica Donovan, played by Robin Tunney, on Prison Break.
I'll admit, I was genuinely shocked when Marissa was killed off in The OC. I mean, I had just heard that all the main actors in The OC had signed on for three more seasons, and then in the season three finale, Marissa dies.
What does NCIS have to do to appear somewhere in their top?
AND NOT IN HONORABLE MENTIONS. 😡
What about Dr. Janet Fraiser from Stargate Sg1
Designated Survivor Maggie Q as Hanna Wells. Stopped watching before it happened, she was my favorite.
You forgot a couple of people. Prue from charmed, Lexi and Mark from grey anatomy!
Should include crystal Reed she was leaving teen wolf so that's why her character allison died in the series otherwise she was one of the main characters of the series
I wouldn't say Anya from BTVS counts since she died in the last episode, ALL the characters left.

Odds are if anyone’s reading this comment they know why at this point i just recently watched a cool in depth video on community so it was on my mind
Anya from Buffy The Vampire Slayer doesn't count because that was the series finale.
