this list doesnt include the deposit you have to give in and for how long the loan is.... irrelevant... the number 10 in this list is actually the best value, as it's loan is 3 years only and NO DEPOSIT! none of the other cars mentioned have this...
Exactly I wanted a cheap to run basic city car to get to work and keep the miles off the diesel MPV. Panda was by far the cheapest £99 deposits £99 a month.
The 4 door sedan version of the Nissan Note, the Nissan Versa, is the cheapest car in the US and comes with an enormous trunk and a back seat with room for full size adults and is therefore the best selling car in the subcompact class.
+Skampo1119 Don't, i've had one, had numerous problems with it and when it came to being repaired, ford said every single time that the warranty dosent cover what had gone wrong, absolute arseholes really id suggest the nissan note or the seat mii tbh
Oddly enough my Citroen C2 has been carrying me around perfectly, I got the VTS so it's not slow, range is good and for its age I feel it still has some nice features, well compared to some of the cars on the list that is,aftermarket features have also been added and done properly to,but then again if I wanted to buy a new car I think I'd stay with the fiesta or the Hyundai, lots of potential
You're basing these prices off a HUGE upfront deposit. E.g. the Seat Mii with a £3255 deposit is just crazy, you could get a Seat Leon or VW Golf for less than £150 per month with a deposit that big.
I've driven a Nissan Note in the U.S. from a rental car company and my co-workers, who also got the same car, and I think the Nissan Note is an awful car. After two hours of driving your back will start hurting and you will need several massage sessions afterwards. I will not buy it and I will avoid renting it.
I had the same experience, after dropping my alfa off at the garage (yea yea yea) me and my dad got a rental car, it was a note and fucking hell, it was just pathetic. He had to drive it as the UK I had ridiculous laws that you can't rent a car if you're under 25 (I'm 22), as if a note is more dangerous to drive than my own car. We were both laughing, it felt like top gear with me saying "go on, put your foot down" and he's like "it's been on the floor for a while now" haha
I personally like it, but I have to say that I drive the 72kW supercharged petrol engine and have the top-spec trim with better seats and better chassis and bigger alloy wheels. That changes the cars character completely and it is not slow anymore. If you get that nice trim, it is pretty much a VW Golf for less money. But the standard petrol engine is really slow, don't but that version.
+gerryheld even if it had a V8 it would still fell like driving around in a fish bowl with horribly positioned a pillars and sending a message to the world that says "I value practicality above all else"
+gerryheld oh and the wing mirrors! What the hell is going on with those, you could dress yourself in front of them, and how much aero drag do they cause at the benefit of disabled old people who can't tell when there's a car at the side of them.
I think Skoda Fabia need to be in first place. It have good engines, it cheap and cheap for run, it comfortable, fabia combi have much place for items then other cheap cars, and it look very very nice, maybe better then more expensive cars. It's just my opinion. Sorry for spelling mistakes, i not good english :D
People who are after cheap cars tend not to have a £3000 deposit so the seat mii at £69 is misleading. If you have a big enough deposit lots of cars every car could be under £100 per month.
I'm surprised that you didn't put on first place vw polo. I like carbuyer but almost in all categories conclusion is that vw model is the best(polo, golf, passat...)
Just came across this video, had it from new fitted with the CVT box (2014 model) now done 70458 miles no problems with the CVT, only faults to mention, new battery 4 years ago and a front suspention bush for my current MOT December 2022
I've just had the displeasure of driving a 65 plate Nissan Note for 10 days. The footwell is small, the pedals feel numb, the gearstick is too low down even if you lower the seat and the 1.2 petrol has almost no power so it isn't economical on a long run. Granted it is spacious and comfortable and the engine note is nice, but I found many of the controls to be counter - intuitive and the build quality to be rather disappointing. Hopefully that's the last time I ever drive one.
+Alex Mitchell would be useful if you read my comment - I currently have a 2015 polo and pay around £150 per month, including insurance. hardly overpriced
+RSBritain Well in my country the steering wheel's leather peeled on just a few months.Apparently it's not included in the warranty. And the workers didn't even know how to install an infotaiment system...
+Connor Purvis You're in luck - we've already got a list of the top 10 automatics! Here you go - www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/recommended/best-automatic-cars
I want a car for a couple months, is that possible for under £150? Do finance deals have to last for months/years? And which site would be best? Thanks
I agree. Nissan Note is a horrible car. I bought a 1.4 CVT and could get rid of it quickly enough. Cheap nasty (Renault) build quality. I would sooner catch the bus.
I have a lot of respect for people who buy these cars. I just don't know how they have the willpower to not off themselves every day driving around in such pieces of shit.
+SeemsLegal it's not just the budget nature. It's that given any budget there are always better options. If you were given £10k you could get a new i10 or a used MX-5. It's all just a matter of priorities, and all these cars show that people's priorities are practicality, fuel economy, and being easy to park. The most boring aspects of a car.
What a weak list. Ford? Peugeot? Skoda? Enjoy having your car fixed by incompetent technicians every week! I bet the Honda Fit and Mazda 2 excel any of these cars.
How about a second hand top 10 best cars?
+George Salceanu We've got a video on this page - www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/recommended/best-used-cars
+Carbuyer didn't notice that, thx.
+Carbuyer I love you
+George Salceanu Wow mai multi romani...
sa mori tu ?
The review that helped me make my decision on buying my 2015 Nissan Note. Thank you Mat Watson. 8 years and 90K mi later and it is faultless.
this list doesnt include the deposit you have to give in and for how long the loan is.... irrelevant... the number 10 in this list is actually the best value, as it's loan is 3 years only and NO DEPOSIT! none of the other cars mentioned have this...
Exactly I wanted a cheap to run basic city car to get to work and keep the miles off the diesel MPV. Panda was by far the cheapest £99 deposits £99 a month.
How did you calculate this monthly cost? And for what period? What does it include?
The 4 door sedan version of the Nissan Note, the Nissan Versa, is the cheapest car in the US and comes with an enormous trunk and a back seat with room for full size adults and is therefore the best selling car in the subcompact class.
Nissan Note is Best
I'd put Ceed much higher!
Great warranty and it's definitely the best looking inside and out.
I guess I'll go for the Fiesta if I live in the UK for less than £150/mth
+Skampo1119 Don't, i've had one, had numerous problems with it and when it came to being repaired, ford said every single time that the warranty dosent cover what had gone wrong, absolute arseholes really id suggest the nissan note or the seat mii tbh
Well your personal experience is not representative in any way whatsoever.
top 10 best cars for pizza delivery suits this video

What about the new Hyundai I20, it may be a bit more expensive than the i10 but it's also bigger, better equipped and has better interior.
Cee'd is the most spacious, so more for the money. And good adjustments for driver. Want one!
no dacia?i cant belive it
+tino matic cheap but crap
+Mathieu Durupt for the money it`s briliant
Well, I would rather spend 10k on a 2nd hand car then a brand new crappy car ^^
+Mathieu Durupt In Romania the things are like selling like hot bread! Also Dacia is bringing better quality this year :)

You're basing these prices off a HUGE upfront deposit. E.g. the Seat Mii with a £3255 deposit is just crazy, you could get a Seat Leon or VW Golf for less than £150 per month with a deposit that big.
I've bagged a 1.4 Audi A4 for £141 per month on a lease with £1300 up front. I wouldn't choose any of these little runarounds for that price!
Jon Gandy where from ?
honda fit?
What about the Renault Clio. it's fuel efficient diesel engine is commendable.
Hi Matt ,
You need to be telling how much the deposit is for each car because any car is £150 p/m if the deposit is big enough?
Iv passed my driving 6 months ago can I get financed cars
Yes, but you have to put down a deposit of £2500 - so not that cheap.
I've driven a Nissan Note in the U.S. from a rental car company and my co-workers, who also got the same car, and I think the Nissan Note is an awful car. After two hours of driving your back will start hurting and you will need several massage sessions afterwards. I will not buy it and I will avoid renting it.

100% agree, it might be good value, but it's a horrible car. Those ranked 2-5 are much better.
I personally like it, but I have to say that I drive the 72kW supercharged petrol engine and have the top-spec trim with better seats and better chassis and bigger alloy wheels. That changes the cars character completely and it is not slow anymore.

So do any of these cars apart from the seat mii require a deposit before financing?
I think Skoda Fabia need to be in first place. It have good engines, it cheap and cheap for run, it comfortable, fabia combi have much place for items then other cheap cars, and it look very very nice, maybe better then more expensive cars. It's just my opinion. Sorry for spelling mistakes, i not good english :D
The renault clio expression is worth around £140 a month
and also mitsubishi mirrage is a good choice with cvt
People who are after cheap cars tend not to have a £3000 deposit so the seat mii at £69 is misleading. If you have a big enough deposit lots of cars every car could be under £100 per month.
I am so happy to see the 1st is NOT a VW Up!.
I'm surprised that you didn't put on first place vw polo. I like carbuyer but almost in all categories conclusion is that vw model is the best(polo, golf, passat...)
probably too expensive to make the list...
Don't think anyone would buy the 1.2 litre Fiesta when the 999cc ecoboost is so good
Nissan Note FTW!
What do you think about the reliability of automatic gearbox of this nissan note?
Just came across this video, had it from new fitted with the CVT box (2014 model) now done 70458 miles no problems with the CVT, only faults to mention, new battery 4 years ago and a front suspention bush for my current MOT December 2022
love this guy Man love
No Skoda Citigo ?
I've just had the displeasure of driving a 65 plate Nissan Note for 10 days. The footwell is small, the pedals feel numb, the gearstick is too low down even if you lower the seat and the 1.2 petrol has almost no power so it isn't economical on a long run.

what about the VW Polo?
yeah! I got one for just under £150 per month, including insurance!
+samisuperhomine Being a Volkswagen it will be ridiculously overpriced
+Alex Mitchell would be useful if you read my comment - I currently have a 2015 polo and pay around £150 per month, including insurance. hardly overpriced
+Francoberry how /where from mate?
White Rabbit Lightcliffe Volkswagen Liverpool - Newspaper Ad! Got very lucky
I'll take either the Panda or the Fiesta, the Fabia isn't too bad either. But the others are either too bland or just not very good.
Surprised the Polo wasn't on this list. It's under £150pm.
How is the Hyundai i10 not number 1? 69 pound a month is a steal! Hyundai is reliable and you get so much for your money!
Very relaible...*sarcasm*
+Steve the Wolf hyundai are actually one of the most reliable brands out there...do your research
+RSBritain Well in my country the steering wheel's leather peeled on just a few months.Apparently it's not included in the warranty. And the workers didn't even know how to install an infotaiment system...
Love the badge, Matt!
Could you do a top 10 automatic car review please?
+Connor Purvis You're in luck - we've already got a list of the top 10 automatics! Here you go - www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/recommended/best-automatic-cars
+Carbuyer but they're all european cars. Why not add the american and asian cars to the list?
The logo on the shirt... Spot on!
I want a car for a couple months, is that possible for under £150? Do finance deals have to last for months/years? And which site would be best? Thanks
+watvid1 you won't be able to finance a car for a couple of months, 24 months maybe..
+Shaggy2222 Yeah found out. Can do a car hire for about £300/month
Hes back ! yes!

Good idea
Nissan note s Are very reliable. No doubt.
How about best cars for new drivers
Kia Ceed is my bet
no Sandero?
Honda Jazz?
dude where is dacia in your list?
+Kappa Dacia is very reliable , it uses piece simple already tested on others cars and reliable.
+Kappa The Panda isn't better for sure.
Dacia is made im my country,Romania,Pitesti...
in my opinion is better to buy a car you like because in the long run you still waste your money.
Smallest engined cars? 0.9 twinair is gonna be on that
where is the clio?
+ThaiprawnCurry Renault and clio are in the top reliability since the serie 3
+ThaiprawnCurry ha ha
Or in other words top 10 car to avoid when picking up girls.
Swift ftw!!
How about cheapest sports cars (finance) ?
+shockwave1xD Subaru BRZ or Ford fiesta ST
+Owismael subaru brz is too slow ... My dads a3 is faster...
Any car can be 150 a month if the deposit is big enuf...how about a vid with a 1k deposit so we can really compare..this was useless
a nissan won? wow
i dont know about nissan being reliable not these days as they are owned by renault
Get your facts right.Nissan is very reliable an is not owned by Renault. They have the Nissan-Renault ALLIANCE.Also I love my Nissan Micra
thats funny i have a mechanic in my family and says the new nissans are a bag of shite compared to the old ones
Man that Hyundai is ugly. From any angle. From all the cars mentioned I would go for the C'eed. It's a compact car for God's sake!
deposit of over 3000!!
I'n sorry to point this out, Mat your my favourite car reviewer but...wtf is up with your eyes @ 0:10 - 0:12.
+Trayz Vidz It's called the sun, try looking at it.
its not the sun or i would've said from 0:01
+Trayz Vidz been smoking the good stuff!
lol no doubt about it
I agree. Nissan Note is a horrible car. I bought a 1.4 CVT and could get rid of it quickly enough.

I miss that short weeaboo so hard.
hi can i still get a i10 for 69 a month?
I have a lot of respect for people who buy these cars. I just don't know how they have the willpower to not off themselves every day driving around in such pieces of shit.
Harsh comment but true lol. It must be fucking miserable driving around everyday in a budget car everyday.
+SeemsLegal it's not just the budget nature. It's that given any budget there are always better options. If you were given £10k you could get a new i10 or a used MX-5. +Christopher O'Grady that's true. But at the end of the day you get what you pay for...
Matt’s last episode
Matt looks very tired.
lmao i barely earn 150 a week
Hope you changed your job
@@tentifr I did man, things are going very well now haha
What a weak list. Ford? Peugeot? Skoda? Enjoy having your car fixed by incompetent technicians every week! I bet the Honda Fit and Mazda 2 excel any of these cars.
Please don't buy cars on finance people. Such a silly waste of money.
Matt you look hungover in this vid sort it out for the next one
