One more reason why I am obsessed with this Channel: We all know that Nancy is an advocate of Dr. Andrew Huberman, Nonetheless, she doesn't blindly follow everything he says, or promotes without any questions.

Thx Amy! If we followed all of Huberman’s protocols, we’d have no time left in the day and we’d be broke!😂

You forgot by far the best one in my opinion LMNT. I don’t use it all the time but when I go on long hikes or am outside when it’s really hot they work amazing and there are no garbage ingredients. I have only had the packets but they just released a bottle.

You should check out this company called Santa Cruz Paleo. Their electrolytes are the best on the market.

I’m pretty sweaty in both lifting and cardio… haha. But even then I get my electrolytes from a half serving of Amino Energy.
Recently had Liquid IV for the first time when I got food poisoning. I think that stuff saved me from needing medical attention. 😂
My son drinks Prime sometimes after a sweaty time but for him it’s a fun drink so I allow a small cup at a time as an alternative to soda.

Now that’s when you really need it! You’re the 2nd person loving Liquid IV, good to know it’s a lifesaver!

Growing up, my mom would buy Gatorade in the summer for my brother or sister, when they were playing baseball in the sun. Otherwise, we only had it in the house if we had a stomach bug and were throwing up.
Now as an adult, I usually only use it if I'm sick and not eating enough and worried about dehydrating. I have fibromyalgia and I do suffer with both a magnesium and potassium deficiency, which I take a supplement for. But if I'm having a lot of muscle cramping, I will take an electrolyte. I buy it in a powder form and add it to water, so I can just make enough for 1 cup of it.
I don't feel that I workout long enough or hard enough to warrant the use of it like my siblings did when they played baseball in the summer heat.
Years ago, I saw a doctor and was told I had a stomach bug. He suggested I stick with clear fluids for the first 24-48 hours, but that I didn't have to buy a sports drink. A gastroenterologist told him that you can make your own with 1 cup of orange juice, 1 teaspoon of local raw honey and a pinch of salt. The internet has tons of recipes for making your own electrolyte drinks, if you search for it.
    Great topic. Thank-you!

Great Video Nancy. I had to be in deep ketosis for a brain injury. I was told to up my salt intake to 5k mg / day and take other “electrolytes” (minerals). I could not ever get a direct answer or recipe / research to tell me what is a balanced electrolyte blend. Also, no one could tell me how to test for this alleged “electrolyte imbalance” as blood test do not show what is in the tissues (as far as I know… I maybe wrong). I wanted to balance that pile of sodium. 🙄
I tried a few brands of electrolyte powders and liquid concentrates pushed toward the keto community. I do not think they helped. I did as Dr said and took them, upped my salt intake. Needless to say, I had horrible heart palpitations, sleep was scarce and filled with intense nightmares and super low blood sugar at night (40s and 50s = dangerous). Worst experience for my body but healed my brain.
I have a long road to go but I do not go with electrolyte supplements unless future blood work warrants it…which it did not even when Dr said to supplement because he assumed deep ketosis needs it. 🤷‍♂️Crazy experience.

I'd say I'm a medium/medium-high level sweater and generally work out hard 45-60 min/day, moderately 45-60 min/day, plus my job is fairly active and in warm/hot conditions. Even so, I've generally not used electrolytes because i eat a balanced diet. Until, that is, about two years ago, and something seemed to change (as i approach 40), and now I've been using LMNT and definitely feel better for it. But i only use half a packet most days, sometimes up to 1.5 packets.

    • @MamaTenny
      @MamaTenny  3 месяца назад +1

Great if you’ve noticed a difference with it. LMNT is one of the higher sodium ones so you must need it. You are VERY active Susanna!

I'm convinced we are long lost twins, lol😂 I rarely EVER sweat, even though my workouts are intense and I always give 100%! 😅 totally agree with everything you said👏🏻 definitely a marketing scam, in my opinion 👀 just ice cold water for me!👌🏻💦
As always, thank you so so much for all your hard work making these carefully researched and informative videos, and making them so entertaining as well, Nancy!🤍🤍🤍

I never got into the electrolyte drinks, although for something different other than water I was drinking ZERO water( lemon only) and I would dilute it with water. Did that for years until it got expensive and I was only drinking it for the flavor. Now I drink water, coffee and very occasionally I'll have iced tea with stevia. That's it. Your grand puppy is adorable !

Electrolyte Drinks are marketed as healthy, but nearly no one needs the added sugar and dyes. These drinks should be restricted, as in, only if you or your child is sick (feverish, gastrointestinal) or your are an exemplary athlete (military, professional training, sports). While Gatorade isn't going to harm most people, it is an absolute waste of money. Factories and foundries often provide Gatorade during the summer because of the intense heat- but that is an extreme condition- dehydration is dangerous, and it costs too much to bring in medical assistance when your workers collapse from the heat.
If you need flavor in your water, add lemon, ginger, and fake sugar. Cucumber and watermelon are healthy sources of water. And sugar free Jello is a fabulous way to add water!
Thank you for this video! I really enjoyed it.

Alittle bro-science if your taking/consuming calcium then 100% make sure your supplementing with vit D3 & K2, all these work "synergistically" (if ever concerned you can run a CAC test) .... as for hydration goes i thought that's why light beer was invented?? haha 😎🍻, happy Sunday Ms. Tenny
