    To add to why Omega-3s are so beneficial (sorry my brain was not at full capacity when shooting!)
    a) they may help reduce reduce testosterone in women with higher levels
    b) they may help reduce prostaglandins (too much of these can result in painful inflammation)

    • @nordette
      @nordette Месяц назад

      @kaneecas5747 I saw a specialist, and she thought I had a small tumor pressing against something in my brain, which was causing extra stress hormones, which was stopping my period. She put me on a medication while I waited for an MRI. I think the medication worked, though, because after 8 weeks of taking it and before I could take the MRI, I found out I was pregnant! Go see an endocrinologist. She was the only one who actually helped me.

    My story: Been on depo for 10+ years (started June 2009-ended June 2020) and nexplanon for 3 years (started June 2021-ended June 2024) with no gap in between the two; makes 13 years on birth control altogether and I only get a little spotting every so little often maybe 3 times/ a year. Not sure if this is normal or not, but thanks for sharing this video I’m definitely gonna give some of your recommendations a try!

    @darkbluenutrition, many thanks for this informative video. Period stopped 1 year and 11 months ago as I hit a personal serious crisis. This year the doctors took my bloods and said I have menopause at the age of 41. They only give you HRT which is don’t want to take and say no chance to return your period.
    Would your advice work for such situation? X

Now I almost a year an half without a period . I need help . I am so worried that I won’t able to have kids . My doctor gave me a pill that I take one pill every day for five days . It supposed to start my cycle again . I almost forgot to mention that I am not on birth control for about 2 years now .pleaseeee help

      Hi Angie! If your period doesn't come back after what your doctor prescribed for you, touch base with them again and let them know. It's definitely not comforting when our period doesn't come back for a long time.. I feel your pain, but don't give up! 💙
      I recommend looking up "Composed Nutrition" - she's a dietitian who has a course & lots of free into as well on periods/missing periods, etc. She could provide even more info than in this video! I also highly recommend The Better Period Food Solution book which I have linked in the description. It's a great overall view of how to tweak your diet to help bring your period back/help regulate it once you get it back.
      I can't provide prescriptive advice without working 1:1 with you, but if there's any general questions that would be helpful for me to address in a future video - let me know!
      Take care!

    I got off of hormonal birth control last August after being on the pill for nine years. I did have withdrawal bleed for the first two months being off the pill but I haven't gotten my regular cycle yet. I really wish doctors would take time to explain what birth control really does to your mind and body . Did birth control make you gain weight? I gained about 40 pounds

    • @DarkBlueNutrition
      @DarkBlueNutrition  3 года назад +3

      Thanks for watching, Gina ✨ I truly wish it were common practice for doctors to explain the possible side effects of hormonal birth control too! I was never once told anything about taking a multivitamin to counterbalance the nutrients that birth control can deplete. I did notice that after I got off birth control my body changed quite a bit, particularly my stomach.
      It all makes sense looking back, but I think they need an in-depth talk with every woman looking to go on birth control so they know exactly what to expect, and can choose to go off of it if they notice symptoms they don't want. Most women deal with it for so long they feel like it's just "normal"!

    • @GinA7887
      @GinA7887 3 года назад +1

      @@DarkBlueNutrition That's exactly right, Doctors say birth control helps with these things but they don't go into detail about what it does to our bodies and minds. For so long I thought there was something wrong with me . I'm glad after doing research I'm not alone

    • @DarkBlueNutrition
      @DarkBlueNutrition  3 года назад +2

      I definitely experienced this and I know we're not alone in this experience!! The pill makes it so you have consistent flow of hormones, so when you're going off of that, any hormonal imbalances that were present before tend to kick it back into high gear. Good idea for a future video topic!! 💙✨

    I went off the pill 2 years ago and since then i have had hardly any periods and rn i havent had one since january (currently late august 2024)
    Iv been diagnosed with pcos, high cortisol, high cholesterol. I dont have any strange symptoms from day to day but theres no sign of change for my period to come. Iv tried flaxseed for a while and it only caused a little spotting but nothing else. I currently take vitamin d, magnesium and my diet is pretty good, im 5"2 and 74kg 🫠 so im technically over weight but not big so yeah idk what else to do at this point. I see a gyno but she just wants to put me on a pill, i dnt want artificial hormones😑 what do u think i could try? Just curious on ur opinion, i plan on seeing a naturopath soon too

    Completely disagree with consuming a high carb diet this causes insulin resistance and the body performs better running on Ketones as a fuel source. Telling people who are insulin resistant to eat more carbs/ sugar is horrible advice and you will be causing them more problems. Please do some research not everyone is safe to run on glucose and most people are obese and glucose caused the obesity. Eating non stop every 3-4 hours spikes insulin so again horrible advice!!!

    • @DarkBlueNutrition
      @DarkBlueNutrition  3 года назад +7

      Hello! First and foremost, I’m an advocate for what works for you individually. If you find that works for you long term… continue to do what works well! There are some people that do better on keto; but my advice applies to the 99.9% not the 0.1%.
      There is a long end extensive body of research on carbohydrate counting for helping insulin resistance (not to mention that glucose is our bodies preferred and most utilized source of energy… when we don’t get enough glucose our body has a pathway called gluconeogenesis where we literally make glucose from fat and protein because our bodies need it THAT MUCH for survival.) and there is very minimal research on keto and how it impacts our health with the exception of being proven to help (in some scenarios) with epileptic seizures. I go by research and experience not by what the latest influencer, celebrity or person with no background in nutrition science is preaching has been working for them for 1 year.
      Our bodies are not designed to be in ketosis long term, it’s a survival mechanism not something that we’re meant or designed to do forever and always. Not to mention it wouldn’t be financially or agriculturally feasible for everyone to do keto just on the environmental impact it would have alone.
      So I respectfully challenge your comment on this being “poor advice” because it is backed by years of legitimate science and research proven both in scientific studies, with clients I’ve worked with, and with decades of nutrition and health experts (doctors and registered dietitians) helping their clients.
      PS - An over consumption of any macro nutrient will result in weight gain over time. Not carbohydrates.

    • @emilywells1184
      @emilywells1184 2 года назад +1

      She didn’t target her advice towards those who are insulin resistant. Her advice is geared towards the general public, to which carbs are a necessary part of a balanced diet.
      While keto may be great for some who ARE insulin resistant and looking to lose weight, it’s also a fad concept that often promotes eating things like cheese, bacon, etc. in unnaturally large quantities. She is right, carbs are the bodies “preferred” source of energy, they are the most bioavailable source. Her advice is supported by scientific evidence, so it’s a little uncalled for to call it terrible advice.
