Unfortunately the calibration procedure as shown in this video is WRONG! This is why so many people in the comments have problems with correct readings. Yes, you hold the calibration button down for 5 seconds as indicated in the video. Then the calibration pH will show (e.g. 6.86) BUT YOU WILL NEED TO LEAVE THE PH METER IN THE SOLUTION UNTIL CALIBRATION IS COMPLETE!!!!!!!! The calibration for the pH point is completed once the display stops flashing and goes to solid. This may take several seconds! NOW IT IS CALIBRATED. Taking the pH meter out right away and looking at the display as shown in the video will NOT, I repeat, will NOT calibrate the instrument. You must leave the instrument in with the displayed pH until the flashing stops. You can simply retest by now inserting the instrument into the solution without the CAL button being pressed. It should show the pH of the solution as indicated. If you calibrate with only the 6.86 solution your readings will be accurate to 0.1pH. For accuracy to 0.01pH you will need to calibrate using ALL 3 solutions. This is called a 3 point calibration.
Hello so it's not necessary to calibrate with the 3 powders? Does it also work with calibrate with just 1 powder? The only difference is accuracy 0.1 or 0.01? I think 0.1 is also fine then...

0:50 I can’t imagine where you got this idea but that’s not a glass vial full of water in the tip and the cap doesn’t keep anything from drying out. The piece of glass in there is just an insulator for the small sensor inside it and the cap is to keep it clean and protect from scratches.

Hi did you use plastic explosives to dissolve the saches in the distilled water , it looks like sea sand. Im havving problems getting that shit to dissolve.

That's why the reading was all over the place after cuz it was trying to calibrate the air.

For cannabis grow can't I just use the one needed packet verses all 3 packets. I still don't understand it all. I'm determined though. :)

When you quick press like she is, you dont have to leave it in the solution like that. "Quick press" takes you directly to the different ph buffers faster without having to hold and wait. How do i know this? I HAVE AN IN-GROUND FRICKIN POOL and a Jacuzzi 6 person Spa....going on 15 years now. I check the ph every 3 days, 365 days/year. Calibrated every 2 weeks. Believe me, if the ph were wrong in my pool it will turn the water either brown or cloudy dark green.
So after you're done with Calibrating the pH meter, what do you do with those 3 glasses of distilled water mixed with the pH Buffer Powder? So you just toss it out?
NO! Read the back of the packets. They say you can put the buffered PH water in a container and label it for future use. You do not have to keep buying buffering solutions. I just did this today, find 3 empty water bottles or whatever and label them.

Also, mine was German made (live in Germany) and the written instructions have me using the ph 4.0, then 6.86, then 9.18. However the diagram part of the instructions have the 6.86 first like you, so that’s what I’m going with! Thx again!

Sorry I do have 6.86 and 4.01 solution bags, and a screw driver to adjust the calibration screw. The instruction said to put in 6.86 and turn the screw to that number. Then put in 4.01, and did not say how to save the reading. I guess I can use your suggestion to fast click it. Instructions are terrible.
just bought those packets to calibrate my ph meter like that one...but .are you mixing those packets w/ 250 ml of water?.. isn't 250 ml water like 8.454 oz of water ?..those cups look smaller
hey YouGrowGirl, how is the unit so far? thanks for the info interestingly, my KWODE PH Meter Digital PH Tester Pen has slightly different direction instead of seconds, I'm supposed to put it into the cal buffer solution, stir, wait until the unit stabilizes and then press cal for 2 secs and read the pen. hmmmm, guess they changed up the directions, i got mine in 2020

Not recommended since I believe it's potassium chloride (KCl). That would overload the medium with chloride. It has an NPK of around 0-0-65 , so you could get away with using it very sparingly
Is mine broken? No matter how many times I do this it just displays 00.00 or 4 underscore lines. When I turn it on there are some ph numbers but it drops to 00.00 in a second or so and stays there. It never displays a number after holding down cal. Just underscores and zeroes.

Do yourself a favor and just use the drop kits to test ph if you’re only growing and not doing anything else. The cheap and expensive one’s have to be recalibrated, all the time, cheap one’s on literally weekly base. If you’ve already bought the cheap one check and note the PH of your tap water and the bottled water you usually use. After that 1-1.5ml for every 1 point of PH down or up you want to bring and drop kit to be sure. This is again, if one is only doing a small home grow.
Even while holding for 5 seconds in 6.88 solution it doesn't show that ph, it's not getting calibrated at all. I have a digital ph meter. What should I do?

Mmm no... What you're doing is telling the machine that the water you're dipping it in is the specific pH. So if you're dipping it in neutral water and you calibrate it to 6.86 then you're ruining the calibration.

I’m guessing you can reuse the solutions, that’s what my instructions said.
I calibrated same process which is shown.
But the 9.18 reading is not stable witch shown on buffer powder.

Yes I did this but mine like this but didn't reach 4.0. How do you recalibrate if you don't have the packets it reads 7.0 on water..

Will the meter calibrate to a 7.0 soln?
Mine was not able to read the first 6.18 solution. Is it fine with just the two others?

The meter reads these numbers even if it is not dipped in water and you do these procedures. Makes you wonder if it is correct.
