  • This video shows the most valuable companies in the world (by market capitalization, in million US Dollars) beetwen the years 1998 and 2024. The video shows the worlds biggest valuated companies such as Amazon, Apple, Meta, Nvidia, Microsoft, and many others
Market capitalization refers to the total dollar market value of a company's outstanding shares of stock. The investment community uses this figure to determine a company's size instead of sales or total asset figures. In an acquisition, the market cap is used to determine whether a takeover candidate represents a good value or not to the acquirer.

As an IT guy during the period, Microsoft really turned it around in large part due to cloud and related services. It generates a lot of money for them now.

@@stevens1041 es increíble como Microsoft se pudo despegar de su producto estrella "Windows" ahora otras de sus ramas les genera mas beneficios, cosa que otras empresas no pueden todavia despegarse de su producto principal

That's because they managed to catch lightning in a bottle twice. The first time, was the releases of Windows 95/98 in the 1990s. They COMPLETELY washed out the ENTIRE competition. In 1994, there were about half a dozen major operating systems (and countless lesser known ones) vying for control. By 1998 90%< of PCs worldwide were running some form of Windows.
They could have slipped off in the mid-2000s, when the company stagnated. The 2001 Xbox, while very innovative, sold poorly, as did Windows Vista. The success of the Xbox 360 and Windows 7 allowed them to gain new capital to invest into things like cloud storage and (eventually) AI. They were lucky enough that another company didn't swoop in and fulfill that demand.

The 30's are going to be dominated by Microsoft and Nvidia, Intel, Amd. Mark my words. Everything from 6G,IOT, AI,machinery, home appliances, etc, is going to be controlled by them.

There is something called "Korea discount". Plus Samsung got it double with the complex conglomerate discount. Check these things out. I agree Samsung is very successful. All over Asia, they have the Samsung stores, which are fun. I currently have S23 for personal and ip13 for my work, I have to say, S23 is my favorite by far.

Wait the market cap of Microsoft or Apple is higher than the GDP of a large size economy like the UK or France? How does it relate to the real world? Financial markets have gone insane
