I grew up play and learning Rock drumming I caught some videos of Buddy playing and this one in particular basically change my life forever. The problem is as a drummer, once you see this..... you are never the same... and I started to feel bored by everything except the next time I watched Buddy interpret a chart with his band. Of course I still loved all the same songs I always have but as far as personal desires to play and challenges he became the pie in the sky that everything else was compared to and I finally understood what all the old timers were talking about when they spoke about him yes I watched him on the Carson Show when I was young but it never really hit home until I play drums for a while myself and then witness what he does and then you realize the level of musicianship and incredible technique that he possessed truly was one of a kind. Of course there are drummers today that will blow your mind with their incredible technique and talent but with Buddy he had that very unique ability which you can't really teach somebody to do he just had it and that is he was able to take all that incredible talent and technique and tell a story with it every time he sat behind the kit. I have watched him enough now to see that he never played the same thing twice I have had what I thought was my favorite interpretation of something he would play and then down the line hear another version of the same song he played and it would blow me away because he would play it differently but it would still be great. What is really special to me personally is whenever I start to feel lost or bored or whatever I just come back to watching him do what he does and I get re-inspired all over again and it just never ends. No matter how many times I watch this clip right here which is one of the best for sure, I am still Blown Away like the first time I saw it and how many things in life can you say that about.....?
Great comment from someone who sounds like they have a very open mind and is a musical drummer as well or at least analyzes . I myself have felt for years that after buddy , noone really excites me the same way . I grew up idolizing peart, then I moved on to copeland who really influenced my drumming. I also have grade 10 piano so I listened to the musical aspect of the police. I had heard of buddy before but never alot of exposure. Then you tube came into being and after checking him out , well that did it for me . There is a reason why the great pro's mention him . I guess it takes a great drummer to actually understand . Nm his solos but the way he drives a band is mind blowing
And yes this one is my favorite along with this one . His single stroke roll with the accents and power is unreal ruclips.net/video/Ljo1rgdqU5Q/видео.htmlsi=uwIJwU0VshFgxN6j
I would like to see ANY drummer today play this fast for soooo long and never show a sign of fatigue! He used every inch of that drumset and made it sound like a 20 piece set! The best ever -
Buddy dropped a drumstick at 2:13, but he picked it back up & carried on playing & he excelled himself, I think the dropped drumstick inspired him to play about the best I've ever seen or heard him play.He played faster, more intensely here than any other recording I've seen of him.The immense power he had was truly astonishing, plus the unequalled speed , & the ability around the kit is only something we can watch & be inspired by.
I always thought he gave that second look at the mic as a sort of "who the @##! put that mic so close!" This solo, geez...Buddy just telling like it is, like he always did. Unbelievable!!!
He was the first drummer who made me realize how important drums are. He's probably the reason I took up guitar, too. I was just a kid, but I realized I could never do this! 😂 My older sister turned me onto Buddy Rich way back in the early 60's.
BR is one of the greatest mistery in jazz history: when time was passing away for him , the elder he was the better he played ... after he became fifty , he did play better than he was 30 years or 40 years old... how could he do that?
Legend says that years ago, a man from Kansas played faster but would rarely display his gift out of embarrassment. Very humble man....his name...Clark Kent.
In the 40s and 50s, you traveled a lot by train to the next gig. I'm thinking of the hours Buddy practiced while on these trains. He started at 3 years old.
Without a doubt the GOAT!
The always amazing Buddy Rich. No matter how many times you see clips like these you have to just shake your head and smile. Legendary beast.
By far the best drummer that ever lived! Without a doubt 👌
His singles were just untouchable. So clean and so fast.

Very well expressed! Thanks for sharing!
The last two minutes, phenomenal!
The best of all time right here!!!
All of those strokes when he gets going.... all so even.... beautiful. Truly a master
A magician with wrists as fast as a hummingbirds wings. GOAT!!! No more need be said.
Best drum performance, ever. In the history of music. Not sure why they kept deleting this on other channels.
Totally agree, he couldve been the best drummer for any musical group out there back then.
Nobody could do it better than the master here

saw Buddy in concert the world was never the same
Same here. Ronnie Scotts London 1979
Those rolls are like butta! ✌❤🥁
A DREAM DRUM KIT TO HAVE, A good view of his drum sticking . A legend.

❤❤
I didn't see him drop the drumstick but I did see him hit the mic stand and then look at it and smile, like Oops! 😂
He was very careful not to hit the microphone stand again, & not to drop a drumstick again once he got his bearings back.
I always thought he gave that second look at the mic as a sort of "who the @##! put that mic so close!" This solo, geez...Buddy just telling like it is, like he always did. Unbelievable!!!
Yes, Buddy played better than anyone else ever has, he left everyone bewildered by his ability.
Best drummer EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best solo of buddy hands down
👍
He was the first drummer who made me realize how important drums are. He's probably the reason I took up guitar, too. I was just a kid, but I realized I could never do this! 😂
My older sister turned me onto Buddy Rich way back in the early 60's.
My older brother...mid-'60's.

Speed, smoothness and precision. 🥁

Best ever!!! A LEGEND!!!!
Soloing on the snare like that is a dead art.
In the 40s and 50s, you traveled a lot by train to the next gig. I'm thinking of the hours Buddy practiced while on these trains. He started at 3 years old.
Those singles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was and is the fastest drummer in the world !
He always did this specific solo arrangement on West Side Story, it's so cool how he had a standard solo arrangement for some of the feature tunes!
How would it be to the best at something in world history? Buddy Rich was !
I wish they taught music like this again!
I agree but you can't teach how he played! No one could come close -
Immortal
fkng insane!!
Eu nasci em 68.
Conheci esse monstro em 2024.
the best. ever.
Has someone ever done a cover of that solo? It's so unreal.
Here hes like 53 years old and this is definitely his best drumming footage,
yet theres like no reaction videos for it.
😅impresionanté
🙏❤🌹 Buddy 🌹❤🙏
Impressionante, desde sempre
Like a hummingbird firing a machine gun.
That over under shit is mind blowing
Imagine.....todays tech for drumming amplification on his video's.
👍😲❤️💰
Послушайте соло из The Mule Ian Paice!!! Buddie !
Look at 0.50 to 0.55 insane 😮
Imagine what he could do on a Neil Peart or Mike Portnoy drum kit. He’s doing this on , like 1/8 or 1/16 of the number of drums those guys have.
What did he have? Six drums in the entire kit? Neal Peart had a hundred and fifty things to pound on and couldn't make half the noise Buddy did...
No wonder Animal threw a snare drum at him.
Everyone is sill chasing him.
4:40
5:25
He is Daddy. What are you gonna do?
Why doesnt he play faster?
Fake
Only Buddy
