- So me and Beng went on a day out with the Honda S660. Super fun, super impractical, super awesome. You buy this car, you're within the top ranks of car enthusiasts. The likes who buys Lotus Elise, the likes who buy Toyota Seras, the likes who kept a Karmann Ghia, the likes who kept a Porsche 356.
This is a traditional honda. Going back to what they started as. With small cars with motorcycle engines.
I wish the Honda s660 comes to USA
I like the idea of the Car but I think it could use a 100 HP engine (maybe 4 cylinder with a high rev limit) to make it more interesting.
The car is very flick-able, but it is lacking storage space.

Who mentioned anything about the whole population? Its a rare car, for overcrowded asian city slow drive its mainly eyecandy and convinient to park. Its not for fast driving anyway. Please dont compare cars that are not 660cc. Its not relavant

It's basically a mini Honda NSX isn't? But definitely way cuter. ahhaha..

If you dump 30k in this car you can make it faster than a NSX.

Way way back in the 60s, there are small Italian cars like this. It's officially a roadster since it has 2 seats, and most often used in leisurely drives (or picking up a girlfriend.). It's nice that it's becoming a thing again and that Japan is doing it.
Most probably kei car racing will be the next thing to happen.

Id have to change the intake and exhaust though to get more turbo noises and maybe a remap up to about 80bhp and it would be perfect :)
If they sold these in the US, and if I weren't so damn big and tall, this is what I'd commute in every day. I really envy people of small stature who get to enjoy the responsiveness of cars like this.
brings back the memory of my pearl white MX5 bought from C&C Malaysia. Super fun roadster to go apex to apex. This car seems more refine n fun than the old Miatas.
Interesting to compare the S660 with the 1991 Honda Beat, which was conceptually very similar. The engine accessibility in the S660 is a huge improvement (you had to unbolt a cover under the parcel shelf to get to the engine in the Beat), but I think if anything the luggage space and general practicality was better in the Beat - not itself a particularly practical car either. (Although I did use one as daily transport for more than 10 years - so it IS possible.) Good fun.

Manual gb would suit this car even more. Adds to the unique and fun character of the car.

I have a similar wind break centre window on mySpeed Yellow Boxster S. Yes, any speed above 60km/h and you do not get wet with the top down when raining. Awesome little cars. Although the smaller size and limited storage would be an issue for my 6'0" fat ass.

@@censport look it up. There just considered not big enough or fast enough for our interstates and road way. It's the way our roads are designed. Look at all other countries who have motorcycles and scooters everywhere. That's where it's made for. Not ones with ford f150 and suburbans and minivans that go twice as fast.

When i saw this car in Miri, i thought it was the new Honda Beat. But damn, i like how small the car is. If Honda and Daihatsu made their kei convertibles made into production in Malaysia and with affordable price tags, pretty sure i will see some youth or car enthusiats will buy it. How does it drift? It's a very small wheelbase, afraid it would flip over.

S660 parts are not cheap at all. It is just like other Honda parts. Generally Honda parts are slightly more expensive than Toyota, Nissan, Mazda and Mitsubishi.
Btw Bobby what Gearbox is mated to this Small little turbo, since its engine is place at the back and also its a rear wheel drive?

+benzeeyap the MX5 can be the only car you own if you dont have kids yet. S660 is just a 4 wheel motorcycle when it comes to practicality. Lol
This car reminds me of my kelisa. Proper fun car..Still can pick up chicks( 15 yrs ago can la, not now I guess)..Drove up to genting for coffee with my gf( current wife) , drifted ( actually skidded) in an empty open wet parking lot. Clocked almost 200,000 km with this car...Awesome time .

No mention of the *cough* CVT? Hope its better than the one in the CRV you just tested. Anyways Bobby, Lotus uses reworked Toyota engines, so they shouldn't break down, i mean the engine is fairly reliable. Maybe not the rest of the car.
