I wish we had more cars like these here in The States. I would be all over something like this! Not as big as a car but bigger and safer than a motorcycle. I heard stories of these kinds of small cars from my mom back when she lived in Japan as a kid.
/scarcasm FYI, Ford made a 460 and Caddy made a 500. Ford also made an 1100ci V8 for the military. GM still produces the 496ci (8.1L) that they put in their 2500s and 3500s, as well as industrial trucks.
The Ford 460 and GM 496 are very common and the 496 is still in production. Anyway, I know Honda has never made anything remotely close to a 660ci engine. It was a joke.

+atsernov Those Keihin carbs can really make a dent in one bank balance as unlike Strombergs it is not possible to buy the rubber diaphragm on its own. I heard this sad story from the owner of a 1200 Kwacker who was only getting about fifteen mpg. Allegedly one has to buy the complete throttle slide which used to cost £120 per unit (£480 for four!) The bodge fix was condoms and superglue! Possibly a good engineer could reverse-engineer the carbs and make the seven shillings and sixpence Stromberg diaphragms fit. Screws instead of rivets would be better and would make the throttle slides repairable. Bike bits are so ludicrously expensive that it is cheaper to run a Zephyr Six!
On the other hand I've never had a Keihin diaphragm fail. Not saying they don't, just that the design is fairly robust. But yes, they should have been made serviceable.
Loved the tour! I own a Beat here in the UK. It's stunning. Had my first Civic in '90 after several rubbishy UK produced attempts. A Jaguar in 2002 proved to be a waste of money requiring a new gearbox under warranty. Replaced eventually with another Honda! The Jag salesman proudly said upon my costly purchase, 'you've not had the 'Jaguar experience' from a garage yet!' True but sitting on a leather Chesterfield sofa waiting for yet another situation to be rectified is alien to me! I proudly own 3 Hondas today. My garage knows me for buying cars and having them serviced and not for returning faulty goods!
+HondaPro Jason Sorry for completly different question - what's the music starting from 16:50? Answer, please. Thank You. BTW - many of those Hondas a never knew that exists. Good job.
Lol at all the haters in the comment section. You come to a channel that is dedicated to reviewing Hondas and then start hating on the S660 and the brand. It's a kei car and was designed for Japan, not international sale and was never intended to be a speed demon. If you hate the car being reviewed and hate the brand then why are you even here? Seriously get a life.
“Kei” is properly pronounced how you'd pronounce “Kay”. Kei comes from the Japanese term “kei jidōsha (軽自動車)” which literally means “light automobile”. You gotta learn this if you wanna go to Japan for that auto show!
+Dakota Nord Which is confusing for Americans since Chrysler had the "K" car platform. Is it a class of like... sub 1000 cc motors? k=1000 type of thing?
K as in it's pronounced like K. It is spelled in English letters like this - kei. And yes all 3 cylinder engines, small cars. Like real small. We actually got one here through a rally sponsorship I believe. The Subaru Justy.
Not ready for US roads?(you were talking about the s660) When you factor in the weight reduction it likely only lacks probably 10-20% of the acceleration of other commuter vehicles and would be fine around towns. It can do highway speeds and even interstate speeds. It's 0-60 is 10 seconds, top speed 87. The 2.0L nissan sentra i used to have had a 0-60 of between 8-9 seconds. You really saying 1-2 seconds makes it unsuitable for getting around american roads? This kind of ridiculous thought process is why we can't have cheap fuel efficient vehicles in this country. What would be so bad about being able to buy an uncomplicated petrol engine(read not a hybrid drive train) that still has low emissions, is cheap and affordable for everybody, and gets 50mpg with ease? We can't have it though, because people constantly think stuff like this. A nice efficient econobox like what japanese makers used to be all about, is just off limits for the american public who are suffering from a really crappy used car market and new car prices that are mostly astronomical.
There's more than 0-60 to make it ready for USA. I won't even mention meeting codes and passing US certification. There's not even room to carry grocery bags. Definitely not going to sell in US. I'd rather ride a bike.
J Yu That isn't what he was talking about when he said it wasn't ready. How practical it is for grocery shopping has nothing to do with being available and legal to sell in the usa, consumers can make up their own minds whether it's a practical car for them or not. Many families have multiple cars anyway, and they already have a van type vehicle for moving people and groceries, so as a pick for a second or third vehicle, why would they need or want another big, expensive, gas guzzling, vehicle just for someone to get around town, commute to work, go from point A to point B, etc. For a single person, this has enough room for groceries, just not room for a big wad of groceries for like a family of 4+ "I'd rather ride a bike." ......
+hzuiel By your logic the Smart should have sold like hot cakes. Of course certification and practicality has nothing to do with each other. My point was that both affect the decision to make a car ready for a country or not. The first affect costs/investment. The second determines return on investment.
J Yu FFS....I didn't say anything should have sold like hot cakes, I said nothing about how something would sell, I'm saying there is a lack of cars in this category on the market in the USA and it is idiotic. I also never said or implied that the process for bringing a car to the USA was simple, as a matter of fact if you knew how to have a conversation instead of just babble randomly at people, by now I'd have already explained that I think the certification process need some adjusting because it's too difficult and it kills competition in the car market. The number of auto manufacturers in the USA went from hundreds to just a hand full over the years because of the squeeze of regulation. The only company in recent memory to break into the automotive industry has been tesla motors and they required hundreds of millions of dollars just to tip toe into the market, and are still having to be held aloft by injections of money, they haven't turned into a profitable business yet. I think this is tragic for the free market that it would be so difficult for an average entrepreneur to start a small vehicle company. Also here is a clue, a company like honda that has been selling internationally for many many decades, knows this process well, and their engineers know how to design a vehicle that can be used in many markets. They can engineer the emissions standards to a point that differences in standards between countries can be met with a simple change to the programming of the engine and maybe a part or two that is a simple bolt on. They can similarly design it to meet safety requirements in multiple nations. This way it just breezes through the certification process everywhere it goes. They also have tons of off the shelf parts they can pick from to reduce costs if need be, because they're such a large company. Say they need to use smaller injectors to meet emissions for california...honda probably has hundreds of designs and sizes of injectors across their line of products, they can pull one with no additional r&d. This has the potential to actually improve roi because a vehicle designed this way is unlikely to sell less units than what the certification process cost, and you aren't limiting yourself to one market which will obviously mean less sales than multiple markets. Companies like honda, toyota, VW ford, and others tackle issues like this constantly with no problem, but you get crap like this, VW gives us basically the same jetta or passat or whatever that they use in europe, but with less engine options available, and ford sells cars we can buy here, made lighter and with smaller engines for europe. Something is bad wrong if ford is shipping cars with smaller and more efficient engines to europe, but you can't get one here where it is being made. One last thing, if something wouldn't sell, that doesn't mean the conversation ends there. Sometimes people's reactions to a product is totally ignorant and stupid, but perceptions can change, people can be won over and convinced. Also if there is a valid concern they have, that leads to a whole other debate. For instance people feel less safe in small vehicles. Well why do they feel less safe? Because there are huge vehicles sharing the road with them. In reality a big behemoth of an suv will still be obliterated by a semi tractor and trailer, you could prove this to the population, there is picture and video footage of lots of accident scenes involving big trucks and passenger vehicles. Also people have been talking about for years wanting to build the rail industry back up, which would raise competition and likely reduce the number of trucks on the road. I mean apple in particular, but many companies at this point have proven you can create a market for a product and convince people they want it rather than just follow the expectations of the consumer at the time. The only reason the public at large didn't outright demand these sorts of vehicles is that we're still pretty deep in denial about our financial shape in this country, many people wanted to deny how bad the recession following the 2008 bubble burst was, or that we are still recovering from it, so they still want a 'murcianized car, IE bigger engine, and laden with more creature comforts, but also a big price tag. I've actually heard people conjecture that americans spending this much on new vehicles that are primarily being purchased on credit, these days with little to no down and low interest rates, on a rapidly depreciating asset, we could be looking at the formation of a new bubble.
The gtr and others were not allowed because of safety standards in the us and emission standards. This car is built for low emission and if saftey standardized could be imported completely legally
27:18 "Never even heard of most of these name brands" well yeah no kidding because all you ever talk about, think about, or care about are freaking Hondas.

But yes, they should have been made serviceable.
atsernov that's when I knew he wasn't a car guy.
...And not a single NSX.........
Thats Acura
+Andrew honda owns acura and the both have a nsx
Gage Everhart *facepalm* nevermind kiddo....
+Andrew. Acura is a branch off Honda sold in the us but Japan would be considered a Honda nsx actually over here is Acura nsx
+Andrew. just like lexus and toyota
Those aren't individual throttle bodies, they're side draft carbs. Same same, but different.
The S660 looks fucking awesome. Plus the rwd and mid engine means it probably is really fun to drive.
power does not equal fun
This is JDM right?
cool video pal ;)
AutonetMagz wah ada autonetmagz 😂😂😂
AutonetMagz njir autonetmagz
Thank You
someones upset
loki nine calm down
Put a b18 in it and sell it here.
that would be so quick and so awesome!
+HondaPro Jason
Why not just ride a bike or a big wheel?
+HondaPro Jason
Sorry for completly different question - what's the music starting from 16:50? Answer, please. Thank You. BTW - many of those Hondas a never knew that exists. Good job.
+Maxpound B18 affecta barrance
I would put in a b20 from 99 crv with b16 vtec head from 90's civic si, easy 200+hp from just the motor
BUT YOU KNOW WAT.. it comes here someone will K swap it and make it a real car lol
Exactly fam. don't listen to these clowns.
When it comes to vehicles, USA is not the Centre of the Universe. Used to be, but not anymore !
Guy can't pronounce kei
8:23 That's a lot of cubic inches =O
+Scooby bahahahabahaaaa!
+Scooby Murica'
lol. I can't stand this guy^
+Alex Delgado yet you wstch
all the Hondas not sold in the us actually look pretty good lol
+TheButterSword16 they sell us idiots the ones with 5 star safety and shitty names without numbers (except for the s2000)
+Liquid.Song they don't make that one here anymore as well
I thought it was a lawnmower in the thumbnail.
I was thinking it was a lawn tractor. Bigger than a mower, smaller than a tractor.
Isalys555 same here lmfao
Isalys555 same lmao
Isalys555 WTF? same lol
similar specs lol
that 660 would sell like crazy in the states especially with Hayabusa engine swaps
New Honda del sol with a mid engine! Drop a 2.4 4 cylinder and it would be fast as hell.
that would be one epic swap!!
drop a k20 with a turbo
drop a k20 with a turbo
+Dodge 318 Cummins rather get a miata rwd winz.. and rather get a crx than a del sol
+Dodge 318 Cummins Honda won't do anything that radical :)
“Kei” is properly pronounced how you'd pronounce “Kay”.
Kei comes from the Japanese term “kei jidōsha (軽自動車)” which literally means “light automobile”.
You gotta learn this if you wanna go to Japan for that auto show!
I thought it was a lawn mower at first
At the clickbait,yeah.
***** no im serious, the thumb nail makes it look like a lawn mower
+mrsaulthegreat ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I know, thats what I saw at the beginning as he knelt down looking from that angle.
Did he say cubic inch? Come now..
+reactor4 AND he said 'throttle bodies' when looking at carbs.
+Global Birthing Home Foundation typical honda fanboy
660 cubic inch, oh yeah.💪
just for clarification it is definitely pronounced K not Key.
+Dakota Nord those are awesome little powerless cars
robert hoffman you can get a turbo kit from a Daihatsu Mira and boost them too hahah!
+Dakota Nord does it add 3 gerbil power? haha
cc - cubic centimeter, not cubic inch.
You'd think you wouldn't have to tell people that.
Haha.
+Joshua Camarena i did lol
+rabia413 .. some people.
Can we have that instead of the Ridgeline please :'(
8:35 he said cubic inch - no, it means cubic centimeter. Jay Leno is far more knowledgeable about cars (any motor vehicle) than this guy.
-__- I realized I hate honda design...
+Azaria Abebe fuck honda. I take Acura anyday.
+Azaria Abebe Welcome to the light my friend
For a single person, this has enough room for groceries, just not room for a big wad of groceries for like a family of 4+
"I'd rather ride a bike."
......
+hzuiel What was I thinking... this is youtube comments section. lol
We get it...you have gained "special" access.
HONDA MOTOR THE BEST IN D WORLD
How did you get an imported 2015 car licensed in the us?
Because it's illegal to import cars into the US under 25 years old with few exceptions.
dont think its licenced
Actually might be imported for show purposes, adding it's a museum.
Maybe but generally cars imported with that law have to be super limited in production. Not sure if the rules are different for museums
The gtr and others were not allowed because of safety standards in the us and emission standards. This car is built for low emission and if saftey standardized could be imported completely legally
I want one so much
=))
I guess I will say it lol thinking a K-swapped s660 sounds about good
A true K car
you can tell your camera man is taller then you lol
I likes the look of that car, it's sporty for its size!
27:18 "Never even heard of most of these name brands" well yeah no kidding because all you ever talk about, think about, or care about are freaking Hondas.
The Japanes drive on the left, which is why the driver sits on the right.
Gordon Bain =
It's pronounced "Kay". Not "Key".
Kei. Not "Kay"
I meant pronunciation, but you're right.
Alex Choi I thought you pronounce it as "Ke-ii" I might be wrong.
It is K
Jason you should prepare yourself a little bit more when You are making video like this - there is a Honda jet of course:
pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_HA-420_HondaJet
I love holden hsv cars , holdens and fords here in australia but your enthusiasm showing me hondas well :) kinda like hondas now :) thanks :)
Owned a Honda Beat, Suzuki Cappuccino, and quite a few Japanese cars in my life. Currently living in Tokyo... Miss my Mitsubishi EVO VI... It was beast...
Honda Pro Jason, I've been going here for years. I have my favorites. What was your favorite car there?
that's a tough question I think the car that I was most excited to see was the S660 but the biggest surprise was the LN360
@8:10 S660, 660 stands for 660cc. "CC" stands for Cubic Inches,. Funny!
cubic centimeters
You'd think he'd know!
+oogiemaster yeah I was a bit late on that one lol
It's not to late. Just add annotations.
honda had something going with that S600. the way the back looked was so perfect the lights were in the right place. it looks like a real coupe. nice video Jason keep em coming.
Bring that little s660 over to the US, sell it for 12k and you will sell hundreds of thousands.
Cubic CENTIMETER not cubic inch ;)
so how come they dont bring this car to the us? u know how many struggling college students would buy this? including myself! haha
Japanese exclusive. Plus the demand is bigger in Japan. Pretty sad that we have BS import laws here.
It doesn't meat US standards
Angelica C very nice comment, i dont kno why everybody was piling on the hate. Its not like any of them do something prouctive.
This guys his own producer.
I personally know more about many of these the he does but could I produce and host, my hats off to him, btw, all hose haters are viewing his channel.
I remember the qa 50's. I grew up in Venice fl, headquarters and winter quarters of ringling bros, both shows, red and Blue shows so little people ( midgets at the time) and many retired around there ( and also Riverview fl) but most rode those qa 50's and also miniture motorcycles with 4 speeds and went highway speeds.
Much of this is bringing back memories.
Whats interesting is many fabricators are putting motocycle engines in very small vehicles although not geared towards economy, they're putting 150 HP engines in them with redlines over 12,000 RPM so they freaken move, tears in your ears fast.
WoW if your a Car Nut this is the place to go, Maybe motorcycles next time Thanks Guy.

You mean cubic centimeters
;)
I saw that too. I think he was really excited he forgot lol.
cubic millimeters.
How did you get the S660 into the States? Show and Display I'm guessing? You don't know how excited I am knowing there is one here.
+OneTallOrder That's exactly what I was thinking.
+OneTallOrder it doesnt fall under show and display since its a mass produced vehicle with no historical significance at all. its illegally imported and just never driven.
I wonder if the Tennesse plates actually belong to the car, and what significance the "DL-" prefix on the plate has.
probably arent assigned to that car. taken off some other car im sure.
IMAGINE FITTING THE SMALLEST V12 QUAD TURBO LOOKS THE PART
I thought they drive on the left side in japan.
Honda city turbo now on my list a mini dirtbike in the trunk hell yea
okay thank you Jason , now i have seen the collection and i dont have to spend the $12
+Reyakt That's what I was thinking, how can you see the point of documenting this shitty video and still have people that want to go
I didn't see a single vehicle I didn't absolutely want to drive.
Would love to rip that blackbird around a track.
I love Honda, my first car was a 1st gen CR-V.
I really like how informative and Honda-loving this channel is. :D
Stopped watching after he said cubic inches.
Why I'm arriving 6 years late to watch this cool video! I love the Honda Beat since the 80s
Bad luck that we can't get those here in the US
never too late and I hope to bring you more of this Honda soon
This Honda would be the perfect opponent for the Smart coupé! I would rather have this Honda than the Smart!
I thought the same thing when I discovered the Honda N-One. Much more reliable too
