      I just wish to add: 46:12 - it's not buttering up, I completely agree with people who say you're well-spoken, kind and sweet. You exude that sort of presence, and I personally enjoy having a video of yours in the background sometimes with some soft music as I do work/chores. I know I'm not alone in this either - I think we just want you to know how amazing you are at this and wish to support you as best we can in continuing your work. I live in a country where MLM's don't thrive as much, but I spotted an Avon table in my shopping centre the other week that looked interesting, but because I'm more informed since listening to these videos, I just carried on without stopping. I would never want my own money to go towards supporting a horrendous business system in any way. Thank you for your hard work

    Ok, I’m just going to say it: the parents of the writer of the vitamin A overdose absolutely failed her. Not for giving her vitamins and trying to help her health, but because her pain was shrugged off, and after an accurate diagnosis was made, chose to keep quiet and hush their child because that was more important than warning others.

    I had a pastor a few years ago who finally admitted that he had cancer and was getting treatment to the congregation, so to bear with him during that time. A lady who hadn't been attending that long caught up with him after church, and I only overheard the conversation because I was standing nearby and needed to ask a question about Sunday School curriculum. The lady asked him if he had heard of Juice Plus and went into the pitch before he really had a chance to respond. My pastor let her talk for a couple minutes before interrupting her and stating, "Yes, I have heard of Juice Plus, and it's not going to cure my cancer." He then thanked her for her concern and turned quickly to myself and another lady to address our curriculum questions. By the way, he went through full chemotherapy and has been in remission for about five years. I just remember how quickly he handled the woman, and while she took insult to it, I felt like he handled it with grace.

    Another tried to sell me Kangen water because pure water was the cure, and I laughed because I was making about $900/month.
    (I also had coaches tell me to ✨️manifest✨️ a cure instead of being so negative, which will "make the cancer grow.")

      I don't recall what vitamin was, but an in-law was going insane with her toddler not sleeping. Did Dr appts etc and wasn't given much helpful advice. Then she took her to a naturopath. When she mentioned what it was, alarm bells went off in my head, but I couldn't place why. Googled it, and yeah... "Health Canada's toxic dose for this age range is X. He is literally poisoning your kid." At least it was early on and she stopped right away.

    That second story was just heartbreaking. Her parents completely failed her, sadly I'm not shocked she was shrugged off. To then tell her not to tell anyone else was almost the worst part, they cared more about their relationship with this woman than their own child. That's so unbelievably sad for the writer.

  • @eckilla
    @eckilla 2 года назад +252

    In reference to the second story: I found out a few years back that gummies are basically the worst form of vitamins to take because it can be so easy to overdose or underdose. Since they make the gummy mixture in a big batch, they’re basically dividing the mixture by how many gummies are made & using the expected average levels of vitamins on the nutrition label. There is no way to guarantee any one gummy will have the exact same amount as another gummy unless each gummy is mixed & made individually. It’s like making a dozen cupcakes and saying each individual cupcake has 3 tbsps of sugar; it’s impossible to know because you didn’t add the sugar to the individual cupcake, you added it to the mixture and then separated that mixture into cupcakes. I also learned that vitamins in general aren’t necessary for the average person. Most physicians say that unless you have been tested and have a specific vitamin deficiency, taking vitamins in general is usually excess, will not be absorbed, and will be urinated out. I wish there was better education about vitamins especially with the growing accessibility of social media and the ease of spreading misinformation.

    • @eragonarya225
      @eragonarya225 2 года назад +33

      To add to that: Some vitamins (including Vitamin D, A, E, and K) are NOT water soluble/eliminated in urea, and get stored in your liver and fat cells until you need them, so they can build in toxicity if you’re taking them in excess. CNN covered the story of a UK man who ended up in the hospital for eight days trying to lower his blood calcium levels, a side effect of overdosing on vitamin D. (I know Hannah’s mentioned taking vitamin D supplements in the past so I figured those overdose risks were important to add on)

    • @Subtletext
      @Subtletext 2 года назад

      @@eragonarya225 it's a very simple blood test to check your Vit D levels. There's no reason to take it unless you're actually low - however many people are low and it's vital to have appropriate levels for so many of the body's systems.--- Get your level tested everyone! Especially in Australia where there's tons of sunshine but a lot of low levels + it's free to get testing.

I had a cold and kept coughing, so I kept drinking little sips of water to stop the cough, and of course halfway through the (very long) concert, I needed the toilet. I was sat in the middle of the tow of seats and I knew I'd have to bother everyone but I just needed to pee so much, I sucked it up and got up and left the theatre room.
    Many, many people followed and once we were out they all thanked me and said they hated the play but didn't dare to leave until I did.

What caused the symptoms to exacerbate was that I had lost almost 40 pounds in six weeks (intentional through diet and exercise), but I've been overweight for a LONG time (no reason to deny it, it's the truth). The ER doctor that made the diagnosis did ask me about supplements (I'm only on vitamin D), and I didn't think about it, but now I wonder if that was part of the reason. I had already lost most of my peripheral vision, since I thought I was just treating chronic migraines I put it off for a long time. I will probably be getting a shunt sometime in the next few months based on what the lumbar punctures show (I don't understand all of it, but I've had two, and my pressure was in the 30's both times).

    Knowing that vitamin A is fat soluble and therefore not excreted in your urine when there's too much in the body, may be a clue as to why the 11 year old girl experienced such a toxic build-up, as she says she was "not thin". If she had more body fat than average, soaking up the excess vitamin A, that may explain why it affected her but not her friends who she says "were thin". Probably over-simplified, but a possibility.

    I volunteer at a barn taking care of trail horses. I was shocked but prepared when I was pitched the “financial advisor services” from a couple I met recently. Is no where sacred? The barn is my absolute happy place. I held my ground asking about the name of the company and what their IDS looked like. I find myself not volunteering as much to avoid them. That changes tomorrow. I’m very protective of the barn and I need to make sure they don’t scam an already struggling organization. Thank you for the confidence to get back out there. Crazy the correlation between my story in horse arena and the story about the financial advisor story.

    Wow I have pseudotumor cerebri. And have since I was 12 now 32, I was told there isn't much known other than its spinal fluid getting trapped between the optic nerve and brain causing headaches and blindness if not drained (bi weekly spinal taps) and a shunt placed in my head, that failed and caused another surgery to remove. I was told that weight loss also helps so my insurance approved weight loss surgery at 17 (i was 5'1 300+lbs). But I was taking Juice+ as well since I was 9 at weight watchers (thanks mom). After losing 200lbs I only need spinal taps every few months and was able to restore any vision I had lost. now I'm in tears I've never heard anyone outside my doctors office mentioned this condition. Thank you Hannah

      Wow that sucks! Two spinal taps a week?? Jesus! My brother used to get spinal taps twice a year and every time he got them he’d be violently ill, so much so that once we had to take him to the ER because he couldn’t keep anything down for days. I’m glad it’s not as frequent now but that’s awful. A quick google search definitely yielded some results about vitamin A overdose and pseudotumor cerebri. I really wonder if both of you got it because of juice plus. That’s really a wild coincidence given how rare the condition is and honestly how few people actually grew up taking juice plus. I wonder if there’s a class action lawsuit in there somewhere 🤔 you guys definitely deserve it.

    I understand that being an ER doctor is very stressful and difficult, but when they do, as the writer of the story said, a 'half-hearted' examination people can die. Earlier this year my mom ended up in the ER for a very serious, but fairly common health issue and she was misdiagnosed. This resulted in her being given medication for the wrong thing. A few days later her condition got so bad, to the point that she could not walk, that her primary doctor rushed to see her right away. Turns out the medication the ER doctor gave her for the issue he diagnosed her with would have been fatal for what was actually wrong with her if it hadn't been caught in time. It was so bad that my mom's doctor even went so far as to file an official complaint with the hospital over the ER doctor's almost deadly incompetence. I truly hope that the doctor who misdiagnosed this poor girl, who clearly had some seriously bad stuff going on, was reprimanded in some way.

      I was sent home from A&E 3 times in 1 week. Until the headache I went for caused vomiting and seizures. I was diagnosed with first time, ear infection, second time sinusitis(had no symptoms of) third time, not giving meds or strong painkillers time to work! Fourth time diagnosed with encephalitis. I kind of get it because when in A&E multiple other people were also there for headaches. One guy walking around constantly while talking/yelling into his phone. A teenage girl with her grandmother who kept going to the receptionist to ask for wait times(which was 5/6 hours) After 2 hours her headache went away and they left. These types of people going to emergency make it so much more difficult for doctors and nurses and other patients to get the time, effort, and treatment they need and deserve.😔😔😔😔😔😔😔

      I've had issues with ER doctors before as well. Like that one time where I went to the ER because I couldn't breathe and my chest felt like it was exploding and they diagnosed me with anxiety and did an ECG to "calm me down" (I heard them talk about that in the background) and of course the ECG came up absolutely normal so they sent me home with "You have an anxiety attack". I spent the next week or so barely able to breathe until it was january and my regular physicist was available again. When he saw me and listened to my lungs he got absolutely furious at the ER because these symptoms were an obvious sign of my asthma worsening and I needed an increased dosage of my regular inhaler and an additional rescue inhaler and he was so angry because if they looked at my file they should've seen that I had asthma, correctly diagnosed me and prescribed me a stronger inhaler. Or even if they listened to my lungs they would've heard the whistling sound and all the mucus build up. He filed an official complaint as well.

      What types of people would those be? I suffer from migraines and if it’s something your regular doctor can’t treat, because it’s outside business hours or because your normal treatments have failed, you are told to go to the emergency room for treatment. However if you suffer from chronic migraines you probably aren’t in hysterics, since you’re used to being in pain. The problem isn’t the patients, it’s the doctors who don’t want to treat difficult cases and tell everyone to go to the ER.

I've gone into DKA a few times (being a stubborn teenager who didn't want to take care of myself) and it is awful. Throwing up straight stomach acid is not enjoyable.
    Also every T1D is different! What works for you may not work for others! Always talk to your doctor! It frustrates and worries me when people turn to Facebook for advice. You can call a hospital and ask to talk to a nurse in the endocrine department for help.

    I remember joining Party Lite in 2002, and I also remember telling the lady (my upline and can’t remember her name), that I loved doing the parties, selling and the products, but I didn’t want to attend weekly meetings. They annoyed me and just wasn’t my thing. She said the meetings were so vital for business growth. I moved to a different state and didn’t find a local meeting. I was still growing but not recruiting people. It helped me meet new people because I used to not know anyone in this new city or even in this state.
    I eventually stopped doing it because I was too busy with full time school and full time job. I actually do miss doing home parties, but that was just the fun for me. I do have a crazy story of a time one of my neighbors wanted to do a party and turned out to be an apartment they used to sell drugs at. I couldn’t pack fast enough and then was scarred because they lived just around the corner. Only one person showed up to her party and the entire time they kept knocking the door, coming in, going to the bedroom and walk out with a bag. The first two times I was like “what’s happening?” But then another three people came in too. I got scared. I knew my neighbor was a stripper (she said stripper, but I think she worked at the brothel in the nearby town). Crazy time and after that I only went to people that were referred by someone else in the parties I had already held.

He worked for many years as an insurance claims investigator dealing with high dollar disability and accident claims for a different (real) insurance company. He also ironically taught ethics as well (which he thought was amusing). He knew the company was a scam but they paid him $25/hr to teach on weekends. This was post-retirement income so he obliged as long as he could. He said many of the students were so frustrating and seemed to have no idea what they were doing and had no drive to sell insurance or whatever the dream is that Primerica promises. I think he felt bad for them and hoped that at least a few would get a license and leave to work somewhere else. Thank you for all the great videos!

      I’m so sorry you are going through what you are! This is where these guys get you! Plus, gut health is so complex. Everyone’s microbiome is a little different, dictated by a combination of the bacteria you got from your mother as a baby, the foods you eat, and your environment. On top of that, sometimes gut distress is not caused by having “bad” bacteria at all. Gut problems can be caused by an overactive immune system, a genetic disorder that causes too little mucus production or causes the connections between gut epithelial cells to be too weak to maintain good separation, a virus, etc. There is a reason doctors have to go to school as long as they do. There is no one size fits all.
      Anyway, sending good vibes and prayers! So glad you can see through the schemes of those who would prey on you during this time!

    When I was in college I sold Avon. It was when it was direct selling before it turned into an MLM. I didn't have an upline. I was never pressured to sign people up. I simply ordered the booklets and bags. Sometimes I ordered samples.
    My customer base was surprisingly male. But I would go around and ask the men at the college if they got the women in their lives gifts for all the major holidays and even kept track of birthdays and anniversaries for them. I was their favorite person because I made them look good. I worked well over 60 hours a week but I had a light school load and did not work a job. Also I was living with my mom and as long as I was in school I didn't have to pay anything like rent or utilities. But I eventually stopped selling because my customer base was graduating as was I. OH this was before the internet. I did have two people sell for me but I never asked them to sign up. I simply gave them a 10% discount on their own order. They didn't want to sign up and like I said there was no pressure to sign people up. So I was making some good money at the time.
    Skip forward 20 years. I am being inundated with MLM offers when I asked about work from home opportunities. Now instead of $10 to sign up for Avon it was $99 and I had to sign people up. So I passed. Mary Kay, Younique, Scentsy reps all tried to sign me up. I declined and had to block people because they wouldn't take no for answer.
    Had to explain that it didn't matter how good the product is the sales structure is not the same and I am not in the same situation that I was when I was in college. Looking at it now I would never do this again.

    I’m a 42 year old Australian woman and chronic migraine sufferer with a genetic predisposition to migraines by certain amino acids. I started taking juice plus multivitamins to support a friend’s business and to get healthier because I had seen the benefits in her health. My migraines became worse. I was struck down 4-5 days a week, having to live on nerve blockers to get to my casual job and look after my kids. I could no longer go for runs or do my daily workouts. I would have to call my husband home early from work because the migraines were starting to affect my vision. I stopped taking the multivitamins and although I still get migraines, they’re not as intense or as often. I have since found out about the amino acid trigger and this is part of some of the fruits and vegetables and in the protein supplement of juice plus. I was met with disbelief of my experience when I cancelled my subscription because of my condition. I’m now wondering since watching this if I should also get my vitamin A levels checked since this could also be affecting me. We did get the kids gummies, but none of my kids liked them and I am so grateful now they didn’t take them. Thank you for sharing these experiences.

This one sends me. I can't even. If this had ever happened in a class I was in, I'd have walked out and gone straight to the dean. And if it were sanctioned, I'd have transferred to another school. Because that's not an institute of higher learning. THAT'S a retail establishment. Absolutely NOT.

    The last story is so bizarre to me. I never had someone pitch something to a class while a student. I currently work at a university and we have a solicitation policy that prohibits that kind of activity, plus a non-compete clause with the campus bookstore operator that prevents alternate textbook site selling on campus. If anyone experiences this, I would recommend checking out your university policies to see if it's actually allowed, and campaigning for a policy change if it is.

    Something that has always drove me crazy, is the tendency to assume that because something is all natural, it's completely healthy for you and would give no side effects. In health class in Middle school, we learned that any substance that changes the mind and/or body is a drug...including vitamins, which while good for you are best only in moderation and to check with your doctor. Please always do your research before taking a new product, check with your doctor, also tell him/her about any changes that you've experienced (Physical changes like rashes, as well as mental/emotional changes.) And definitely shop around to see if you can find the same product cheaper. There is no product out there that is buying that supports a toxic and harmful business model.

Thank God I did since I left as soon as I knew it was a travel MLM. The presenter had the audacity to say in his presentation that if you thought it was a pyramid scheme, then you're an idiot. Nope, bye!

    I have serious problems with my eyes and that second story really resonated with me. Blaming a child for a health problem is absolutely horrifying.
    I am so sad she is still suffering from this, I can understand, all too well. It's not just problem itself but the fear of what it may happen consumes one's life.
    I have a feeling things would have gone horribly, horribly wrong with me if I were to take these supplements myself. It was sheer luck that I did not.

    There's nothing worse than being misdiagnosed by a doctor. When I had sepsis in 2020 I was misdiagnosed 3 times with sciatica. I ended up hospitalized for 2 months and had to learn to walk again...my trust in doctors has gone down so much and now when a doctor tells me I'm fine, I FIGHT for a 3rd opinion....doctors have to start listening to us when we say THIS. ISNT. NORMAL!! 😭😭 I'm so so so happy that person had a wonderful pediatrician and got help

And like now I’m slightly reevaluating all my interactions with those people. And like they were also people in my church that got to my parents, and like I still remember going to their house and going to their meetings as a kid. Wow.

      I get you probably mean well but OCD is a neurological disorder and disability caused by lack of neurotransmitters. This means messages for switching off thoughts the brain has mistakenly flagged as important or dangerous get lost or stuck. This causes sufferers immense distress because their brain has already dealt with the original thought but the brain keeps sending the same signal over and over sometimes a few times a minute in mild cases but for moderate to severe OCD this can be a few times a second. A person without OCD has on average 50,000 thought last per day. A person with OCD can have up to 200,000 thoughts per day. All the extra thoughts are repetitive intrusive thoughts which often drown out the regular thoughts. If cleaning, tidying, sorting, counting etc makes a person happy then it isn’t OCD because doing things(compulsions) as a way to neutralise or counteract intrusive thoughts is distressing, frustrating, and debilitating. Just trying to put some education about OCD out there as it is still a very misunderstood disorder that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.😔🙂

      I’ve had severe OCD for 25 years and a psychology degree. The thoughts the brain flag as dangerous can be different but the faulty system in the brain is the same. If you genuinely have OCD then maybe do a lot of research, especially up to date research, and don’t add the the masses of misinformation and people mocking ocd because they think it means tidy!

    Another reason reps don’t want to give the website or product name, is the fear that the potential customer will just order on their own or purchase from Amazon. That would equal to = loss of commission/customer/ adding to down line
