I think the Cat Distribution Program is the biggest MLM. They have the largest downline for Cat Ladies! You only look into getting one cat, decide not to, then you get a pregnant stray on your doorstep who, a short time later, produces five to six more recruits (kittens) in her downline.

I was wondering what happened with the twins. Great to see the update here.
I've got autism and ADHD too and it runs in our family. My father has it too. How's your son dealing with the twins though? My brother had twins three years ago and I couldn't handle being with them for more than a couple hours at a time because I got impulse overload. They've got three kids now and I've got a feeling they're done, at least for a while.

@@ammalyrical5646 he’s doing very well overall. He’s a wonderful big brother. Obviously he has his moments, but we had already put strategies in place to help him with noise issues before the twins were born. All my kids love each other and coming from the awful abusive house I did, my husband and I have worked very hard to create that and make sure our home is loving and safe. He was heavily bullied last year in school and we got him into therapy immediately and that helped him tremendously. He’s not one for physical touch, but he shows his love in other ways when he remembers (hey, he’s 13).
      Erika

    • @ammalyrical5646
      @ammalyrical5646 2 года назад +1

@@Sewingistherapy nice. when my sister was born I wasn't diagnosed yet so no help for me, but I also was 4 so it's kinda different anyway. Now she's pregnant and my brother has 3 kids. I don't plan on getting any. I love kids, but caring for my own on my own doesn't sound appealing (neither does parenting together with someone else).
I am one for physical touch though. Just not all kinds. If it's too soft it just irks me. But physical touch is one of my main love languages :) Which I didn't know at age 13 and didn't have space for anyway. My homelife wasn't the best either. Part of that was an undiagnosed father (ADHD and autism too and some other issues, we suspect).
I'm so happy you have put in the effort to give your kids a stable and loving home. Instability and fear is no good way to raise a kid.

For the individuals with a form of severe autism who cannot speak, understand others, take direction, cannot bathe themselves, cannot use a bathroom without assistance, need help with many daily tasks and cannot survive without help from their parents or carers until their death, I would argue a "cure" would be helpful if it were at all possible.
Somebody like yourself who is clearly able-bodied and aware enough to use and have conversations with people on a computer doesn't need to be "cured."

Hannah...the Cutco story!!! I sold Cutco for one summer. I was at my great aunt and uncle's house doing a demo, and my great uncle was obsessed with the scissors cutting a penny. He grabbed the scissors from me, dumped out an old coffee can of pennies, and started cutting them. At some point, he cut that piece of skin between your thumb and your hand. So. Much. Blood. At the end of the summer, a bunch of sat around at bar before going back to school and swapped bloody Cutco stories. It was pretty gross and very hilarious.

This lady wasn't successful because of her MLM business was successful, she was "successful" because her husband wasn't paying his employees/vendors and instead giving the money to his wife.

i used to farm mealworms for my pet reptile and for my stepdad's homemade fishing bait, its honestly really easy and fun. I diy-ed a three tier system with a mesh filter to automatically sort the eggs out of the beetles, so it barely even needed maintainance. I took in my grandson when everything shutdown so I could help him with online school. ADHD, autistic spectrum, and on medication for epilepsy. Also a teenager, fun for all. And he brought his gecko (Rusty). I often use aromatherapy and essential oils, but worried about the consequence to the gecko. This led me down a crazy path. Aromatherapy can cause seizures in people have something like epilepsy. And can be dangerous (if not deadly) not just for reptiles but also birds, cats and dogs. I had no idea. The essential oil people never told me that! I emailed you once about this: don't care if you share my story, but if you can help me spread the word of the danger to animals, along with people subject to seizures that would be great. Long story short: he just graduated high school, I learned a lot about algebra, geometry and world history, and I may never use aromatherapy again. Even candles make me a bit nervous.

I just got my autism diagnosis last month at 24 years old. I’ve struggled all my life trying to make myself fit in without accommodations. Now with my diagnosis, I’m making all the accommodations i can for myself with no regrets and I’ve never been happier. I’m so glad you read an excerpt from the email regarding curing autism. Autism isn’t a disease that requires curing. Even as an undiagnosed autistic person myself, i had A LOT of deconstructing of stereotypes to do when i realized i might be autistic. I had a lot of learning to do about myself. It absolutely infuriates me now when huns try to peddle their gimmicky MLM products with unfounded health claims about curing autism and other conditions.

I was 40 when diagnosed. Still on the learning and unlearning process, but it has been so reaffirming to know why I always felt different and had trouble fitting in and realizing I wasn’t “broken” just different and different isn’t bad.

That first story reminded me of when I worked at Movie Gallery. It was my job that day to call and remind people about late movies/games. This was my third call, when the lady answered I was super polite and asked if the renter was home, she said no, so I asked if she could remind them that their disc was late. She stated crying and yelled at me that he had passed. He was very young and it was a tragic accident. I felt awful. After that I had huge anxiety around that part of my job. When I hung up I wrote off that disc so they wouldn't receive any letters or be sent to collections.

As a fellow person with ADHD and Autism, I can agree that we definitely think differently. Do we have struggles? Absolutely. But that doesn't indicate what we can and can't do. I'm a school counselor and mental health counselor, and I'll be finished with my PhD in December. Adhd and Autism doesn't need to be scary or bad. It can be beautiful if approached from a strengths based perspective.

Thank you for sharing the email from the person who has autism and ADHD. I am autistic and very likely have ADHD as well (just haven't gotten tested yet) and she makes an excellent point about our capitalist society being super focused on productivity. It's not that I am lazy, I work hard at my job, but I don't want my job to be my whole life. I CAN'T have my job be my whole life. Before I started working from home, I would have to take long weekends every other week because I was constantly overstimulated and could not function. I never had any PTO because I had to use it to recover from being around people. I've never been pitched an MLM, but whenever it does happen, I can't wait to say to them regarding "time freedom" and all their BS as sounding like an absolute nightmare.

Yep, I got into Cutco for about 5 minutes as a recent high school grad when there weren't any regular jobs available (yay recessions). My parents bought the only set I sold. My dad, whose skin was so tough he had trouble getting blood drawn at the doctor's, filleted his thumb on one of the regular table knives just putting it in the dishwasher with the wrong side up. Say what you want about the program, those knives were sharp.

My daughter was diagnosed as ADD at age 5 and the low doses of medication the doctor prescribed really did help her. I homeschooled her and her older siblings so I could really tell the difference. It helped her not to be distracted by everything she hears and focus. When she was a teenager, she wanted to stop the medication because even though no one outside the family knew, it was none of their business, it made her feel like she was different than everyone else.
I allowed her to make her own decision, yet I have always told her there is nothing wrong with her, her brain just works differently than some others. I told her God made her the way she was for a reason, and she should be who she is.
Fast forward 15 years. She is happily married and expecting her first child. She has a Masters in speech pathology and works with children in her job and in her church and all the children love her and her boss loves the way her brain works so much that she has helped to reorganize many parts of the agency she works for.
I pray each person with ADD or ADHD finds who they are and their place in this world as she has.

Me too! The last story was mine and it’s my oldest that has been diagnosed. I didn’t think to include a whole bunch more in the email because I was focusing on the story. But he’s 13 now and he’s doing wonderful. Throughout elementary school and middle so far he’s been surrounded by so many amazing people who have helped him and love on him. He got the president’s award in 5th for keeping honor roll all the way through elementary. He’s a wonderful big brother to all 4 of the others. Obviously, we all have moments and his younger sister puts him in his place sometimes when he starts what we call, bulldozing over them. As a parent, I’ve learned so much.

I have a dear girlfriend and a brother in law who have both been diagnosed with ADHD as adults.
They are quite open about their diagnosis and they have both mentioned to me separately that they don’t take their med everyday because they “like the way they think.” They don’t feel like themselves when they take their med. However, they realize the benefit for their meds and take them when they need to focus on a specific task.
Definitely people with ADHD and autism aren’t “broken” by any means. I don’t know a lot, but “thinking differently” makes the most sense to me when I think about my loved ones.
