I often experienced excessive sweating after applying skincare in the summer, and when I stepped outside, all my skincare would just melt away in the harsh sun. But for the last 4 months, I've started using rice berry sunscreen by littlleeextra, and I no longer face that sweating issue with this sunscreen. It doesn’t cause my face to look dark. In fact, I’ve also begun using rice berry face moisturizer and face serum underneath this sunscreen, and my face stays hydrated. Pigmentation is also reducing with daily use of these products.
She literally explained the ++++ in sunscreen! I’m obsessed with the beauty of Joseon sunscreen, I have emptied couple of tubes. I have oily and acne prone skin. I have met my forever sunscreen.
I'm loving Black Girl Sunscreen right now and I'm a fan. I can use a very generous coat without feeling icky. It doesn't sting my eyes or taste awful if sweat drips into my eyes or mouth. The price is also very reasonable compared to most facial sunscreens, $16 on Ulta for 3oz. For reference, I have fairly normal skin, just a tad oily on the nose/chin, and mildly to moderately prone to acne unless I'm rigorous with my skincare. I've been using it for a month and haven't had any breakouts or even an isolated large zit, so it's definitely not clogging my pores. The only people I don't recommend it for are those who don't do well with plant oils or chemical SPF.
I’m also a Black Girl Sunscreen convert. I was fortunate enough to have been able to use both the 30 SPF, and the 45 SPF. I have yet to try the hybrid one, though. But, I am in love with the 45 SPF, as I am more on the oily side. Also, for the price, you’re getting great formulations.
☹️It makes me breakout perhaps because of the oils in it? Same thing with the EltaMD. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Clear Skin Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 60, is only SPF that works amazing for my sensitive, oil, and acne-prone skin. It mattes my natural oils, UVA/UVB, and no breakouts. Same thing with Neutrogena Ultra Sheer. I'm experimenting with Supergoop since their body one is great... Goes on like lotion
As an oily makeup wearer, my main complaint is not cast because I tend to go for chemical. It's the finish of the sunscreen and how it interacts with the foundation's formula. If the sunscreen doesn't actually dry down and stays greasy, it makes it close to impossible to actually deposit foundation rather than pick up sunscreen on your sponge. It makes your foundation break apart, or easily rub off if you happen to touch your face. The only ones that have worked for me so far are Supergoop Matte Screen, but the texture is that of a thick primer, so using it as a sunscreen with the actual recommended amount is very difficult not to mention expensive. And the other one is Banana Boat Light as Air for the face. It actually dries down beautifully. I'm having a hard time finding it in drugstores which scares me that they might discontinue it only because no one talks about it. So if you're oily please go try it.
Ugh, it's so frustrating when you find a holy grail that it feels like nobody else is using, because you're stuck constantly wondering if/when it'll be discontinued! I've had that happen with THREE different sunscreens, and the last time it took me a full year before I found a replacement product I even liked. Wish I could help you with other recs, but I'm a dry, mineral-only, girly who doesn't wear foundation. Good luck! 🤞🙏
Finding the perfect sunscreen with oily skin feels nearly impossible. I have a sensitivity to fragrance so it really narrows down for me. Currently using Garnier Green Labs spf 30 serum cream with hemp oil and niacinamide which I use as moisturizer as well but does feel slightly sticky & looks a little greasy. I've recently bought the Paula choice's spf 50 hydrating fluid which is much more lightweight but I've noticed sometimes when I apply it, my face gets itchy for a few minutes (doesn't happen every time which is odd). I haven't had an issue putting foundation over this one.
I 100% recommend trying the European eucerin oil control spf 50+ its very lightweight, no white cast and it’s the most matte sunscreen I have ever tried
Some other classic favorites also worth mentioning, good for all skin types: - Colorescience flex (mult. skin tones) - EltaMD UV Physical (tinted, not orange) - Neova silc sheer tinted (pioneer in DNA repair) - La Roche-Posay Anthelios (chemical; tinted and untinted; non irritating for rosacea skin) - Isntree hyaluronic acid watery sun gel - Dr. Sam Bunting mineral sunscreen
I just bought the Elta MD UV Physical and I really like it. I didn’t like it with makeup over it, but it was fine by itself with a little powder over it then I put bronzer and blush on. I also own the Dr. Sam’s tinted sunscreen and it is very moisturizing. I think it is a little heavy in the summer, but will be great in the colder months.
I've used the Colorscience powder when it first came out over 20 years ago. So simple to throw in your purse or leave in your car for touchups. Elta is my standard go-to.
As long as Korea does not fix their sunscreen testing loophole I just don't trust them to deliver, at least not for summer. Thankfully european sunscreens cost the same or less and are often elegant.
I’m so happy that supergoop gets a big thumbs up from you! Their unseen sunscreen is the only facial sunscreen I’ve ever liked. Doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin at all and creates a really nice base for makeup!
The only sunscreens that don't burn my eyes like crazy are the Elta MD ones. Most other brands I have to wash after 5 minutes because it burns so bad.... even if I don't get it near my eyes and if it is non-chemical! So if anyone is having trouble with that, try Elta MD. I love the UV Clear ones.
Try the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen. Literally will never ever sting your eyes, BUT- personally… it balls up after reapplication for me and leaves a minimal white cast. But it’s a lovely consistency and people love it.
I love the EltaMD uv restore! It's one of my favorites since I'm sensitive to chemical filters, even the newer Asian and European ones. Also, Undefined Beauty R&R Sun Serum is now my number one favorite! It's a full SPF 50 and has a great tint and the texture is so nice. It works great under makeup too! I love that they're both good for water and humidity resistance. Oh! And Pipette sunscreen is totally a dupe for the biossance one, and it's mineral 50spf. It's not water resistant though. I'm really interested to try the skinceuticals one!
I love the Colorscience Sunforgettable Total Protection! I have sensitive combo skin and this is perfect for me. I wear it everyday and can wear makeup on top, but not always necessary because this sunscreen makes my skin look amazing. I also carry the powder with me to touch up in case I end up outside for lunch
Yeah i hoping she would mention Colorescience! I’m new to daily sunscreen use i watched so much videos and ended up ordering Colorescience flex and their powder!
I am SOOO GLAD she covered the makeup part! I always wondered: yes wear sunscreen but what about when your 2h is up and you have a full face of makeup ❤️❤️❤️
My favorite cosmetically elegant sunscreen that has scientific evidence of reversing aging due to sun exposure is Neova. It’s beautiful. I use two pumps and it goes on under my makeup perfectly, especially when I put on my foundation right away. It’s also 20% off in may (I’m not affiliated just love it so much)
I have tried the Spanish brand: Heliocare 360 Age Active Fluid PA ++++ for mature dry skin and OMG. This light liquid lasts an entire day in direct California sun. It's like nothing I've ever tried. I also like the French made SVR Creme SPF 50. This stuff is different. This is like the consistency of a light and thin kaolin mask, the texture of a primer, and my makeup looks stunning on it. It has a noticeable rose fragrance that fades fast. This also lasts *all day* in the central valley (California) sun on mature dry skin and *nothing* gets through. They're not like regular sunscreen "moisturizers" at all, so there's that to get over, but WOW, they kill it at blocking sun, and taking care of mature skin.
Heliocare is amazing. I’m Spanish, so I have easy access to Heliocare sunscreens. They’re pricey (for our standards here) but absolutely worth it. I use their body foam sunscreen, the mineral one for my face and the kids version for my daughter. All of them are spf 50 PA++++
Hi, everyone! Heliocare is one of the brands under the umbrella of *CANTABRIA LABS* (Spain). *Endocare, Neostrata, Biretix, Martiderm...* have the craziest most effective antiaging Vit A-ish, AHA, despigmentant formulations I' ve ever tried (Endocare contains actual tretinoine, indeed) but they have a huge problem: They need to translate the website, they need to understand how marketing works nowadays, send their products to the best pro derms on the internet so they can try and give a reasoned opinion. Otherwise, they are 💎such a hidden gem💎🥺 only known by us, little skin nerds🤷🏻♀️😅 Best wishes from Spain 🧛🏻♀️🖤
Sadly didn't work for me. I bought two different ones from Heliocare and they both make my skin feel very dry and start peeling if I put any make up on my face.
My go-to SPF under makeup is SuperGoop’s “Unseen Sunscreen” - was recommended by Sephora years ago because the texture is more like primer so it does double duty. It’s basically clear so doesn’t leave a white cast. For touch ups I use either their powder (shown in video) or setting spray. For people who don’t like powders, there are a lot of spray/setting spray options for the face. Love how Dr. Idriss calls out makeup artists for skipping SPF. That’s my biggest beef with all these makeup tutorials. They’re skipping THE MOST important step.
This was INCREDIBLY helpful, thank you!! As someone with type 2 rosacea I can no longer wear any chemical sunscreens because I break out all over so it was great to see some good mineral sunscreens in the mix. I’ll be buying some new ones to try now, thanks Doc!! ❤❤❤
I love Korean sunscreens, they are so light and non-sticky for the most part. My favourites are Beauty of Joseon, Thank you Farmer Sun Project Water Suncream and Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Geld (which I'd describe as a sun milk/lotion, not a gel).
I love the Dr. Jart mineral sunscreen!! I’ve already gone through 2 bottles. I have oily skin. It doesn’t leave a white cast on me, and it acts as a great primer for makeup. HIGHLY recommend!!
I personally wear the heliocare pediatrics spf 50. It's mineral sunscreen. I have oily sensitive skin and its the only sunscreen that doesn't break me out , it's not greecy and oily on the skin and it doesn't give me rashes. I love it💘
Still haven't strayed away from Biore's watery essence! Been using it for 4 years now 🥰 For reference, i live in a very humid country and i'm very oily. I love the hydration it gives me 💖
I’m proud to say that it’ll be 4 years in August that I’ve been wearing sunscreen constantly even when I’m in the house I even set my timer for when I need to reapply, my favorite are chemical broad spectrum sunscreens. I love the hyaluronic acid water sun gel spf 50 from isn’t tree I just wish they would give you a full 2 ounces !!! As far as American sunscreens I always choose Paula’s choice youth extending hydrating fluid Hydrating enough for my dry skin It doesn’t leave a cast and it’s effective I love both and I cannot be without sunscreen especially because I have a deep skin tone and I want to be protected nobody needs wrinkles and hyperpigmentation 🙌🏽🙏🏽
I love the Supergoop glow oil. I wore it for 3 days in Palm Springs, reapplied every 1.5 to 2 hours, and didn’t burn. Seriously. Three days in the pool, no burning. Just looking stunning and smelling yummy and not getting a sunburn.
The sunscreen I love is called Thrive. It supports regenerative farming and brings income to local poor farmers inn Costa Rica. It has local ingredients that are really good for the skin. It's a mineral non-nano and it does not leave a white cast. The facial one is called Daily Defense Sunscreen Balm SPF 30. The body one is called Bodyshield 50.
Yes!!!!! SunBum is so good on the body!!!! I use the SPF 70 cream one and I love it!!! Gives a very nice glow!!! Oh if you like the Supergoop! One you’ll like their body oil spray one. Such a nice glow and Ooo!!! Love it! S someone with sensitive eyes and hyperhidrosis I stick to La Roche-Posay milk sunscreen when I use a sunscreen on my face… it works so well and does not burn the eyes so harshly. Stays in place so well. The glow is so slick and dewy!!
Having had skin cancer at 32 because of the sunburns I had as a kid and baby, I appreciate so much that you promote the inelegant, overkill, white cast sunscreen for kids.
My grandmother was terribly disfigured from skin cancer battle. She got it on her scalp ..so glad she showed using the powder on your scalp. I'll be getting that! She had a whole three fingered width section of her scalp removed down to the skull and grafted back from her thigh and hip. It was tragic for her. She was beautiful even into her 70s and so very vain (like many of us). I re-styled her bobbed hair and showed her how to pin it swept over the section and she started wearing silk scarves over it but people don't think of the seriousness of sun protection. I had never thought of my hair part regarding sun protection. I hope you got through your battle easier. My mother and aunt have both had spots removed from their backs, nose and lips between them. I'm now petrified of skin cancer.
Thanks for your advice, Dr! It would be amazing if you discussed Spanish brands (like you did with French ones), such as Endocare/Heliocare, Babé, Isdin, Sesderma and so on.
Agreed. I’ve tried so many over the years. Living in South Africa we really need our sunscreen game to be on point 365 days of the year. I swear by Heliocare and use their tinted SPF over a primer as my day to day sunscreen as well as at the beach. Would love to hear what Dr Shereene says about it.
I have very dry skin & love the BofJ sunscreen. The new Purito Daily Go To 👍 is nice, but takes forever to dry down. I find the SC stings 😓🤷🏼♀️which is a bummer b/c the tint is perfect for my skin tone.
@@mignonalverson655 I feel the Purito is a bit greasy vs moisturizing.. just sits on top of my skin when I apply the necessary amt (1/4t). I may use it this winter with a different result. The BofJ is AWESOME & moisturizing enough for dry my summer skin. Hope this helps
@@beyond50skin This helps ALOT. I'm disappointed the Purito is more greasy than moisturizing. Ugh. There's definitely a difference. Yea I need and want the moisture. Sounds like Purito is better for fall and winter. Thanks love. ❤️🙏🤗
Oh WAW!! Been following you since ..almost 2 years now, but I still got to learn form this particular video!! Absolutely the best one about sunscreen EVER!!!
Wow, thank your for showing all the sunscreens on a darker skin tone! I'm not dark, but certainly not Casper white. 😄 I appreciate seeing the tinted sunscreens as well.
I recently discovered you and I’m so grateful that you gave so much meaningful and useful information for free. Thank you ! I’m learning a lot and your personality and jokes make everything even more enjoyable. On my way to be a skincare nerd. Congratulations on your brand 💜
This is literally the best up to date video on sunscreen and im so freaking glad you showed how each look on actual darker skin!!! I'm about to buy everything lmfaooo
WoW that test is so cool!! I’ve last year got an autoimmune disorder called polymyositis the medication I have to take makes me especially vulnerable to skin cancer, which also runs in my family! I hate the feeling of sunscreen but I’ve no choice but to wear it. I’ve no idea how people put makeup on top, makes me feel suffocated.
When you were showing your products, the names came out backwards and couldn't be read but, thank you, found them in "more". Loved your in-depth reviews. :)
Thank you for this amazing review of SPFs. Love that you mentioned the Super Goop powder sunscreen. I'm a greasy girl and my skin is an oil slick by afternoon. I've shied away from the powders b/c I was always concerned about not being able to wash the brush (without creating pudding out of the powder). Glad the Super Goop people thought this through. YAY!
2:53 Beauty of Josean only uses organic filters, Tinosorb M does absorb and scatter UV, but it is an organic filter, not inorganic. 3:28 Only Germany? UVA is tested throughout whole Europe. 6:20 in Europe and Australia the "+" means it was actually tested above SPF60, in Asia it indeed means tested above SPF50.
Thanks for the roundup! I've been looking for an invisible water resistant sunscreen for humid, hot weather. Will be checking these out to see if one will work! Usually I prefer Korean sunscreens in my day to day, but I don't think they're water resistant for a humid pool day.
Hi Dr Idriss I really love the untinted version of the skinceuticals one featured here for my ultra dry, rosacea and eczema prone skin (the tinted one is like applying a tan makeup on my ultra pale skin lol). A less expensive alternative is the untinted spf50 from Avene - similar consistency and as I'm really white anyway, doesn't leave a white cast on me. On calmer skin days in the warmer months I use ultrsun spf50+ - really great protection and doesn't melt off the skin. Unfortunately despite having used the ultrasun for many years, if my rosacea is at all playing up I need to stick to mineral spfs. The purito and the BofJ both gave a fairly severe reaction on patch testing for me, as did the Altruist face spf. In the UK Avene is not a really expensive spf and I can usually buy it for £15 or around $20, which is much cheaper than the £42 for the skinceuticals. If I'm in the midst of a rosacea flare the best one I have found is the paula's choice calm mineral spf30 - never burns/stings and a go to during the colder months as it is quite hydrating (although I use all of them over moisturiser due to being ultra dry skinned). The ultrasun is too drying on me in the colder months btw and spf melting off isn't such an issue obviously. Best wishes.
I really like that you also had a darker skin person applying the sunscreen as you were so darker skin tones can see how it would work on them. Genius, Shereene!!
I prefer mineral sunscreens as well because of my ridiculously sensitive eyes and my absolute favorite is from Mad Hippie, minimal white cast, it absorbs fairly quickly and doesn't sting my eyes! For chemical sunscreens, aside from Beauty of Joseon, Mary & May makes an amazing one! It's the Cica Soothing Sun Cream and it doesn't irritate my eyes. Hope you check them out 😊
Dr Shereene, I just wanted to tell you that listening to you made me buy a broad spectrum sunscreen and lather it on to my face and neck and chest every morning religiously before i go to work and I put a vitamin c serum before applying my sunscreen. I don't have much sun exposure through out the day but i have seen noticeable difference. I started this routine like since April, a time when I moved to a different city in India which has super dry weather and my skin (touchwood) has really been good. I believe in the power of sunscreen. So thank you!!
So happy Beauty of Joseson passed your test. I usually have sensitivity to traditional American sun screens. Luckily I have very pale, lightest foundation color, skin, so the white cast of mineral sunscreen isn't terrible. But I tried BOJ and loved it so much that I started putting it on every day without figuring out if I was going outside or sitting by a window. I don't re-apply it unless I am outside, but using it daily and automatically is a first for me. I have been worried it was a mirage. Great to hear my stock of six tubes of BOJ is worth having. Glad to hear about LRP too. Also was afraid to try Purito again so glad you reviewed it.
I use that thinkbaby sunscreen around my eyes (I have very pale skin). It doesn’t burn and sting or run into the eyes. I’ve also used it all over my face when my skin barrier was compromised and irritated and it didn’t seem to irritate it further.
+1 for the Beauty of Joseon Rice+Probiotics sunscreen. My sensitive skin hates the vast majority of SPF I've tried, but this one I can tolerate okay. Even less irritating but with a slight whitecast is the Dr.G Green Mild Up Sun+
The toleriane moisturizer with spf I wanted to love, but it stung my eyes :(. Absolutely love the Beauty of Joseon though. EltaMD will always be in my repertoire though
I'm SO glad that I started using the Beauty of Joseon recently. It feels so comfortable on my finicky skin, and gives a lovely glowy look when I'm wearing it.
I am eagerly awaiting my Beauty of Joseon SPF. I am pretty oily and so many SPFs just sit on my skin and slides around/ won’t dry down. I do like the LRP Shaka Mineral Fluid; I end up layering a few drops of the tinted over the non-tinted to get rid of the cast.
Dear Shereene, thank you so much for your tireless efforts to bring skin care to us nerds. Through you I have learned a lot and was able to significantly improve my skin texture. I love the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel. I know there is a lot of HA in it but I haven't found anything that wasn't heavy or sticky on my skin. I have sensitive rosacea skin. I'll try the Purito next. As I have read, there is no HA in it!!!!
It’s a pity that most of Aussie sunscreens are not available outside Australia. We have so many options here, from very affordable to mid range. With one of the most strongly regulated markets and the newest chemical filters. After I get to know Aussie sunscreens, I wouldn’t go back to anything else.
@@peakay6729 my favorites are divided in two categories based on price. A bit pricey, great underneath makeup: Mecca (oily to combination skin) Ultraviolette (dry to combination skin) Drugstore, I use them the days I am mostly home or no makeup day: Cancer council (oily to combination skin) Bondi Sands (dry to combination skin)
My personal holy grail when it comes to sunscreens is Aloe Waterproof Sun Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ by Holika Holika. I've used many sunscreens, but this one is the best - no white cast, sweat proof, looks amazing under makeup (every time I use this sunscreen under my foundation people praise how good my skin looks). It's also lightweight, which is really important for me, as I hate heavy sunscreens. The price is also good and you get 100 ml instead of standard 50 ml. I don't know if it's available in the US though, because so far I haven't seen it being recommended by any American RUclipsrs.
Besides being a total Beauty goddess ✨ on your own right--I simply love how passionate, genuine & down-right funny you are! ;-) Your content has profoundly inspired me to practice some self love on my skin--which has endured some neglect over the years. I've learned so much from your fabulous videos--THANK YOU for using your platform to impart knowledge!!! 🙌
Usually korean and japanese sunscreen is generated for everyday use. But korean sunscreen have their own word for outdoor sunscreen. Idk the word is but I’ve found out about it on Odile Monod youtube channel. Wish that you can try it out too because I want to see the difference between outdoor sunscreen available in the US and Korean / Japan. And also korean sunscreen actually prefer their sunscreen with a little whitecast. So their face looks brighter or for correcting the skintone. And then go out without any complexion product (foundation, cushion etc) after.
I was curious if you ever tried very high water resistant ones like Evy technologies or riemman p20? They claim to have 6, respectively 10 hour resistance. I have been using the evy one for a year, but I’m kind of sus on the number of hours they promise to last
Thank you for showing the sunscreen under the UV light. That was fascinating. Also, if I lived in NYC I think I'd make an appointment to see you even if I didn't need to have a cosmetic dermatology appointment. You crack me up. Love your sense of humor.
I also have fallen in love with Beauty of Joseon sunscreen! I found it when I was looking for a sunscreen I could still use when my eye eczema kept flaring up (would burn super bad with my previous sunscreen) while also working for the oily acne prone skin on the rest of my face. No problems with it at all! I’ve also had luck with the Rovectin sunscreen which is designed for very sensitive skin
"I want the tennis ball and I would've thought I got it for free."😆😆😆 It's so crazy that marketing is stupidly effective on our brains, even when we KNOW we're being manipulated! We're generally generic-everything shoppers, but when I was pregnant my husband would only buy brand-name vitamins, food, etc. When I asked why, he said something like, "I'm just succumbing to marketing because I'm in a vulnerable emotional state."😂
Great video! I listened on my phone while deciding if I should get up and start the day. Since it's Saturday, I just stayed put and enjoyed hearing all about sunscreens. (I am wedded to Australian Gold tinted though.)
I love Korean and Japanese sunscreens, out of these I've just tried the Purito one, the Beauty of Joseon is on my list to try as well. I also love Dr Vanita's Inzincable, it's one of my favourites. I was wondering what do you think of the new Glow recipe sunscreens and the ones by Ultraviolette? I used their lean screen mineral one but not the others
As an avid makeup wearer, I actually love the Purito sunscreen under my makeup! I have combo skin and I think my makeup can actually wear better over that spf than without!
Yay for the Casper crew!!! ❤️❤️❤️ And thank you very much for embracing the Korean SPFs. I often wonder if Derms here are afraid to talk about it or whatever it is but I appreciate your honesty and I literally want to drive the 6 hours to NYC to see you.
I love that you added the video of applying the sunscreens on a darker skin tone! You definitely have impressed me. Also can you please add a picture and the name of the product you are talking about? I couldn't read it you were moving so fast. I had to look it up.
Hey Doctora! So, pretty basic question, how much time do I have to wait beteween my daily moisturizer and my sunscreen? I feel like if I put one right after the other it sunscreen will loose it's "power/effectiveness"😋 hahaha I don't know... I really want to know. Thank you, you make my saturdays and sundays so much better! Saludos de Chile!!
Hi! Really appreciate your work and thank you for sharing your insights. I was recently wondering about the impact of sunscreen use on the vitamin D production. It looks like there is no correlation, however there are no available studies for higher protection factors. Is there any recent data in this sense? Thanks!
I love the powders for touch up!! I keep one in the car to brush on my hands while I'm driving. It's insane how much sun exposure they get on the wheel!! 😱
I love the Peter Thomas Roth sunscreens. Both the physical and chemical ones are beautifully formulated for darker skin tones! I'm super sensitive and have combo skin and I will never go back any other sunscreens
This was really helpful and informative!! Thank you for putting in the time & energy to make these videos. Not related to skin but I think it’s important also to consider buying a reef safe sunscreen for those planning to be at the beach. My family is in Hawaii and it’s the first state to have a sunscreen ban because the chemicals oxybenzone and octinoxate harm the coral. I would love to see a video on favorite reef safe sunscreens!
You are absolutely fantastic. You’re video was the first video I watched without fast forwarding, I felt your compassion about spf. Go you, and thank you for the recommendations… 👍🏼 Many thanks, Simon from Ireland 🇮🇪
Last summer, without reading up about it or checking reviews beforehand, I bought Uriage bariesun mineral cream very high protection spf 50+ and I loved it! I only use mineral sunscreen for face. I feel like no matter how protective chemical sunscreens are supposed to be, in practice, I see a big difference and physical sunscreens win every time! I don't care much about the white cast because I'm very fair, but this Uriage one doesn't really leave any and it feels so good on the skin.
@@mtmg3648 I was also surprised it did nothing to my eyes, didn't burn, didn't make me cry.. and I wasn't very careful with the application because I just wanted to make sure all of my face was covered well. I'm so glad I discovered it because it immediately feels very soft and gentle on the skin somehow, yet I know it's a strong SPF I'm safe with in the sun.
@@mai567 I couldn't agree more! Eye sensitivity is a HUGE factor for me. Most burn my eyes so in the garbage it goes. Not uriage. I took a gamble and so glad I did!
someone who understand my eye sensitivity to chemical sunscreens! nothing worse than trying a new sunscreen and your eyes are burning and irritating you all day. i'd love another video on this or even series about new sunscreens. i recently bought the iris & romeo weekend skin. it's spf 50, has vitamin c and niacinamide, and is tinted. but it smells nothing like sunscreen (the smell reminds me of the naturium azelaic acid serum 10%--a sweet licorice kind of smell) and has me worried that it's just a moisturizer. but if it's really spf 50, then it's such a wonderful formula. only downside is that it's really oily (i'm combo skin type).
Going into summer, maybe you could do a video about what to do if you get a sunburn, like tips and tricks and maybe aftersun recommendations? Great video as always!
As a mother of a redhead with eczema, I need that sunscreen to be thick and as white as can be! She's so pale that only the heaviest white cast is gonna show up. CVS brand had a great baby sunscreen that was water-resistant AF and didn't dry or irritate her skin at all. That stuff did. not. budge! Unfortunately, I'm on my last tube and I don't think they carry it anymore. It's hilarious to watch her play with her friends with darker skin tones, because she's so white and covered in zinc she looks like she's GLOWING.

I use the kids spf 50 and I want to love it so bad but it can be greasy.
I love it too! I just wish they disclosed the PA rating on the Kids one):
Good luck! 🤞🙏
I use the Light as Air on my body- love it. Can’t use it on my face as it bothers my eyes, which is a bummer as I’m am super oily too.
Australian Gold’s face sunscreen is great for oily skin. It stays matte all day, I have to double cleanse to take it off. Plus it’s only $20
I 100% recommend trying the European eucerin oil control spf 50+ its very lightweight, no white cast and it’s the most matte sunscreen I have ever tried
Some other classic favorites also worth mentioning, good for all skin types:
- Colorescience flex (mult. skin tones)
- EltaMD UV Physical (tinted, not orange)
- Neova silc sheer tinted (pioneer in DNA repair)
- La Roche-Posay Anthelios (chemical; tinted and untinted; non irritating for rosacea skin)
- Isntree hyaluronic acid watery sun gel
- Dr. Sam Bunting mineral sunscreen
Love Neova!
The Isntree one is amazing.
Japanese and Korean spf's the best and they're waaaayy cheaper.
Yes but not when you include shipping I pay 40 dollars for a Korean sunscreen
I often get free shipping as long as I reach a minimum amount... It's good for stocking up
As long as Korea does not fix their sunscreen testing loophole I just don't trust them to deliver, at least not for summer. Thankfully european sunscreens cost the same or less and are often elegant.

@@morgianasartre6709 I get it but the one I have from isn’t tree the studies are very very accurate with protection on label
I’m so happy that supergoop gets a big thumbs up from you! Their unseen sunscreen is the only facial sunscreen I’ve ever liked. Doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin at all and creates a really nice base for makeup!
😊
I found that the Supergoop glow looks gorgeous on the lips under lipstick also. It’s my little trick ❤️
Shereene -- I was literally planning on going to Sephora today to buy sunscreen and this couldn't have come at a better time! Thank you haha
Love the Beauty of Joseon on my dry and dehydrated skin - and it does not sting my eyes😀
Why did Elta MD not make her list of sunscreens?
@@maemo8, Everyone reacts differently. BOJ caused me some eye irritation & burned my cheeks.
I am with you, 100% I agree👏🏻. Im obsessed with ColorScience Sunforgettable and their powder spf stick.
Yeah i hoping she would mention Colorescience! I’m new to daily sunscreen use i watched so much videos and ended up ordering Colorescience flex and their powder!
@@mendezcinthya89 I use the Sunforgettable body suncream for face as well but I don’t like the powder sticks, sadly I bought three of them
I am SOOO GLAD she covered the makeup part!
Yes, Heliocare is amazing!💥💥💥I highly recommend if you can get your hands on it!
Otherwise, they are 💎such a hidden gem💎🥺 only known by us, little skin nerds🤷🏻♀️😅
Best wishes from Spain 🧛🏻♀️🖤
Sadly didn't work for me. I bought two different ones from Heliocare and they both make my skin feel very dry and start peeling if I put any make up on my face.
I used to use Heliocare exclusively until I stepped up my skincare game. It pills like crazy if I use it over anything but naked skin.
The best sunscreen I found is EVY. Looks good under makeup and doesn’t feel greasy 🤩
What’s it uva rating?

I love the hydration it gives me 💖
The Live Tinted sunscreen is amazing! Mineral, no cast, lightweight and great under makeup.
As far as American sunscreens I always choose Paula’s choice youth extending hydrating fluid
Hydrating enough for my dry skin
It doesn’t leave a cast and it’s effective

Most of the japanese Skin Aqua spfs are a good choice. They dont sting or burn at all and most are fragrance free and invisibile.
Yes! And very economical!!! The skin aqua gold essence has tinosorb m along with some other great uva + uvb filters
She did mention Isdin
I'm happy that you take such good care of your children! Your a good mom!
I have very dry skin & love the BofJ sunscreen. The new Purito Daily Go To 👍 is nice, but takes forever to dry down. I find the SC stings 😓🤷🏼♀️which is a bummer b/c the tint is perfect for my skin tone.
I have dry skin too. Did the Purito feel greasy or moisturizing? I'm torn. BOJ or Purito.

I Bought the JOSEON one and it works great on my oily prone skin as a light brown WOC living in a humid climate!! THANK YOU!!
I recently discovered you and I’m so grateful that you gave so much meaningful and useful information for free. Thank you ! I’m learning a lot and your personality and jokes make everything even more enjoyable. On my way to be a skincare nerd. Congratulations on your brand 💜

Love the inserted video clips of a deeper darker skin tone applying the sunscreens.
For those looking for a physical/mineral sunscreen, Colorscience’s glow version looks gorgeous under foundation!
Thank you for using brown skin to illustrate these as well. It’s quite helpful to see if a cast will be present. ❤
I have been waiting for a sunscreen video yayyyyyy
I was up in the air re the Purito sunscreen due to the controversy she described, but, she now recommends it, so, I brought it! Thank you!
Is it good ? Does it have whitecast ?
Honorable mention to colorscience. I love both the classic and flex
I use that thinkbaby sunscreen around my eyes (I have very pale skin). It doesn’t burn and sting or run into the eyes. I’ve also used it all over my face when my skin barrier was compromised and irritated and it didn’t seem to irritate it further.
I’m Caspar white like yourself but I love that you show a video clip showing a darker skin tone!
+1 for the Beauty of Joseon Rice+Probiotics sunscreen. My sensitive skin hates the vast majority of SPF I've tried, but this one I can tolerate okay. Even less irritating but with a slight whitecast is the Dr.G Green Mild Up Sun+
I got Glow Screen after watching this. It’s amazing. I tried it with Bobbi brown spf 40 serum foundation on top. Didn’t move !!! Fantastic find.
Thank you for adding another skin tone as a demo ! My sis and I are night and day but we like to recommend products to each other
Dear Shereene, thank you so much for your tireless efforts to bring skin care to us nerds. Through you I have learned a lot and was able to significantly improve my skin texture. My personal holy grail when it comes to sunscreens is Aloe Waterproof Sun Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ by Holika Holika.

I have this one as well. LOVE Uriage! I have dry, sensitive, allergic skin and I know this one protects bc I do not get sun rxns when used.
@@mtmg3648 I was also surprised it did nothing to my eyes, didn't burn, didn't make me cry.. and I wasn't very careful with the application because I just wanted to make sure all of my face was covered well. I'm so glad I discovered it because it immediately feels very soft and gentle on the skin somehow, yet I know it's a strong SPF I'm safe with in the sun.

someone who understand my eye sensitivity to chemical sunscreens! nothing worse than trying a new sunscreen and your eyes are burning and irritating you all day. i'd love another video on this or even series about new sunscreens. i recently bought the iris & romeo weekend skin. it's spf 50, has vitamin c and niacinamide, and is tinted. but it smells nothing like sunscreen (the smell reminds me of the naturium azelaic acid serum 10%--a sweet licorice kind of smell) and has me worried that it's just a moisturizer. but if it's really spf 50, then it's such a wonderful formula. only downside is that it's really oily (i'm combo skin type).
I love the Tatcha sunscreen, it doesn’t burn my eyes when I wash it off in the evening and looks beautiful by itself
