I kind of agree. He’s totally inconsistent and maybe trying to find his lane? He can be super thoughtful and do some of the best interviews and sometimes commentary out there but then also put out a TON of negativity and really old tropes about gay people, race relations, politics, etc. he’s always complaining about media when HE is media and he does the same thing everyone else does. So many uninformed opinions. This is not the year to be doing that anymore. He could be the change he seeks. Our our more facts - inform and inspire people to get unfolded and be change agents. So many positive things he could be doing and he’s not. He could totally do better which is why I’m leaving the comment. He can still be funny, honest, silly, serious - all the things but he should cut out the negativity and toxicity. I know he can do it and it’s probably help his anxiety to be more authentic rid in that way as well. Stop doing the same old uninformed opinion podcast shows and circuits. I know he’s on his journey just like we all are. He’s come a long way but like all of us (without the influential platforms though) so too. 🙏💜
      Anyway just my opinion.

    • @tanja0411

@@hicksa1 Agree. He can still at times be really really toxic. And also uninformed. The comment section under his shows and clips are some of the very worst out there and he initiates that. I had to rly commit to being as honest as possible & if idw talk about something yet just saying, idw get into that today. I’ve gotten SO much more from therapy the last couple years in particular & not shockingly, I’ve grown more in that time than a long time. Having gone back for my masters in licensed mental
Health counseling this year it’s been interesting learning about myself through that. I can’t wait to go into the industry myself, it’s something I’ve been called to for years. I had to take the leap through the fear about going back to college. Glad I did!

I think people who are not happy with the reality of their life tend to do this because them lying is a way of creating the reality that they feel is ideal. Basically they understand the power of perception and how people only perceive you based on what you show them, and they don’t want people to know how unfulfilled they are with their life so they lie 🤷🏾‍♀️ but I could be wrong

Was excited to see Charlamagne on Jay shetty years ago even tho I wasn’t in that specific category or culture of healing/growth. I’m happy to say I’m 2-3 years invested in growth and mental health since then, so I’m happy to see Ctha God back on when I’m fully invested 📚

I would love for CTG to go back to doing long-form interviews like he did with his Pete Davidson and even Kanye back in the day and some of the interviews he does on The Breakfast Club. Pete Buttigieg, Marianne Williamson. Even some of the more controversial people. I think at his best he’s one of the best interviewers out there. Watching his Brilliant Idiot and The Breakfast Club (only sometimes now) it kind of feels like he’s at a crossroads. I think both the shows rely on clicks and it doesn’t seem like that’s who CTG is.
*I know this is wishful thinking but if Jay happens to see this and it resonates I wish someone would tell CTG to stop complaining about the media and social media. He is an influential media figure and HE CAN BE THE CHANGE HE SEEKS. He talks about manifesting but then puts out so much negativity, pessimism and yes often still toxicity and division (especially in politics and race relations) on his platforms. And he engages in false equivalence in politics (calling it nuance which it isn’t) and he constantly spreads misinformation (I’m sure not intentionally) when it comes to politics. He could be doing the opposite. He could stay neutral and have more real journalists on. He could have whoever curates the “news” they present on TBC get it from newspapers instead of the same old headlines online. He could be encouraging people to get involved in politics and show how. He could tell them about legislators’ Constituent Services Offices for example. Or great important jobs in government agencies. He could talk about lobbyists (one of the roots of all our political problems) and system reform. He could highlight the hard working non-clown politicians (yes they exist and they have a very hard thankless job). He could tell people maybe this is our generation’s (I’m his age 😅) fight? To fight for sanity, truth, wisdom and facts in politics or in general again. How not to get triggered or polarized. He could inspire and inform. He could SPEAK INTO EXISTENCE (he talks about this all the time) wisdom, experience, maturity and knowledge in politics. And he could lead thoughtful discussions on race relations. What would he like to call into existence there? That would be interesting I think.
But he doesn’t. Listen to his shows and it’s full of old-school gay stuff (will it ever get old?) and a lot of divisive and even toxic stuff around race, even though a lot of his best friends seem to be white. He’s always generalizing generalizing and more generalizing. At some point it stops being funny because it’s such old material. Look at the comments under his video clips. They’re some of the worst out there honestly. He instigates that. And then - on the other hand - the interview he did with Judy Blume was amazing.
He’s confusing and inconsistent and I wonder if that maybe contributes to his anxiety? I feel like he can be funny, honest, call out BS (there so much) without being a contrarian for the sake of it. Without being toxic and then following up with SOLUTIONS. Sometimes it feels like that’s what he does. He can do a mix of silly and fun and serious. But honestly he’s not doing a great job of it now. He still puts out a lot of sheer negativity :(
And - instead of always always complaining about media - get your influential friends together and DO something. Only talk about things you really really know about or again engage in very thoughtful and mature interviews. I feel like he’s trying to fit into an already established lane. He can forge his own and same with his podcasting friends. Instead they do the same format, same topics as everyone else and do the whole uninformed opinions thing. That is NOT okay in 2024.
I could go on and on. I’m such a big fan of his but I almost can’t listen to his shows anymore. Because I’ll get infuriated over the ignorance. We just can’t handle any more of that. And then to complain about it when others do it. It’s too much.
Just my thoughts for what their worth as a fan 💜

25:12 powerful part of this conversation! Analyzing others is easier and may come more naturally than analyzing ourselves. I think it’s because we don’t have a constant 360 view of our lives displayed in front of us. But for others like celebrities we see their lives displayed in front of us. It’s easier to judge and over analyze why they do the things they do.

Charlemagne is the definition of slick. he and his buddies drugs and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old black girl. This isn't an alleged story he talks about it during an interview with DJ akademik . He pledged to a lesser charge to avoid jail time. And to show you how sick he is. He openly admitted to giving his wife Spanish fly and alcohol so he can have sex with her while she was asleep. Watch the Tasha k interview with Jessica Reid.
