I don’t mind the retract of the sunroof screen because at least you don’t have to hold the button until it closes. Now if I had to keep my finger on the button I’d be annoyed.
How is the reliability of these cars? Have you had any issues? I'm stuck between mazda cx-9 signature, lexus rx350, acura mdx and this one. I just want a reliable car with a few nice touches...
CALLA2024 If reliability is your number one consideration, it has to be a Lexus. Lexus have consistently been top of reliability surveys for several years.
Volvo have absolutely hit it out the park with this XC60. Having viewed features and driving capabilities of the X3, GLC, Q5, I feel the Volvo beats the rivals in almost every department. The Volvo comes standard with all “necessary” features that the German 3 make you pay extra for. Ridiculous how Audi make you pay for a reverse camera and electric tailgate - features that are standard on Korean cars.
Mat, I'm from Canada and this is my favorite RUclips channel for car reviews. You sold me on the Volvo XC60. I just got mine XC60 T6 R-Design yesterday. I can't stop driving it. It's amazing. Thanks for your tips.
harsh kumar I just got mine in Ontario a couple of weeks ago. Amazing experience so far, doesn’t fail to amuse on all terms. Curious to know how she does a couple of years down the road though !
Yes some little issues, but the car is so sophisticated you overlook the, on a long run up to 50.5 mpg, the load cover is a bit of a flaf but take your time and it's not a problem. Now just up to 12 months old, and love it.Very proud to be driving in it.
I just recently purchased my T5 Momentum about a week ago. I switched over from a 2014 Audi Q5 3.0T Prestige. I have to say, the technology in the Volvo is simply unbeatable. I absolutely love the functional built in to the infotainment screen. The parking sensors and camera views have made everything so much easier as well.
Just ordered a fully loaded XC60 T6 R-Design in white with 22" rims. It's a true beauty. As far as exterior and interior are concerend, X3, Q5 and GLC do not even come close. Can't wait to get it in 3-4 months.
I have a 2019 R Design XC 60 and love it. The 2 minor niggles that i have is the brake creak when coming to a stop and the auto wipers that can go beserk when fine rain hits the windscreen and ignores heavy rain drops. Apart from that, the car is mint.
I own a v90cc and I absolutely love the around view camera system! It also seems to be more wide-angle (showing more of the ground around your car) than some other around view systems in other cars :)
Curtesy car: XC60 D5 same spec as reviewed. Brilliant loved the smooth power and comfort amazing. I have a 2018 VW Tiguan SE and it feels 50% behind the Volvo in every way
I Think the reason that the confusion you have with the arrows for the massage seats is that it’s made in a country where the steering wheel is in the left side. So it would probably make more sense if you was sitting in the passenger seat.
park in is hugely useful for the people who live in my home town, way too many drive around the town time and time again just to find an easy parking spot even if it involves walking for 20 minutes to reach where they wanted to go. it is extremely useful for me as one of those who is good at parallel park cause i can always find a parking spot within less than a minute of where i wanted to go, some of them a little bit challenging to park at with my 5 meter long car but it just makes it more fun for the extra challenge
We love the car I like how you can personalize the driving dynamics. So if you think the steering is too light you can tighten it up and keep the vehicle in comfort mode awesome job Volvo. The vehicle is intuitive and drives great and the T5 R -Design is a sporty looking suv and extremely practical.
My 2019 XC60 (less than 6 months old) has been in the shop 11 business days for service issues. 12V charge error, EV emissions Error, Hose Replacements, Audio Module Replacement and Recall.
Wow, hopefully that will be it, Here in the states we have a lemon law that says if it is in the shop more than three times, you can return the car and get your money back. What I've read is the most common problem on a Volvo is the transmission goes out at 30,000 miles and some go out multiple times. I have a 2020 so I am hoping they have improved the transmissions.
I agree with the Trunk-Cover thing... on my last car (Mercedes E-Class) there was automatic-system build-in, that reacts with the opening and closing the trunk... way better than that manual cover!
Some people are objecting to the rear doors which form part of the rear wheel arch. This results in dirt on the crescent shape of the open door. Personally I'm used to this, having run several Range Rovers, but I do prefer the XC90 type where the door meets the wheel arch rather than forms part of it. Especially as I live in the countryside and often drive down dogshit alleys and cowshit covered lanes. The sunroof and its blind takes some getting used to but once mastered is brilliant. Voice control is also brilliant, especially for temperature setting and turning seat and steering heating on and off. Not so much for the phone. Good also for choosing audio source but steering wheel controls better for choosing channels from preset favourites in my experience. Cruise control functions and controls are the best I've ever used by far. Speed limit sign recognition not so hot and my Qashqai is more reliable in this aspect.
That's a perfect car, but I would have chosen the pine grey + bowers and wilkins sound system. We actually have the XC60 D5 Momentum with only winter pack. I would be happier even with your spec.
First I like my xc60 a lot. All the electronic /media stuff is nice but you are correct about the pull out panel in the back. I never use it. What I do like is the 300 hp 6.
I have a 2010 XC 60 that has been the best car I've ever owned. Love my large sunroof! It has never had an issue other than regular maintenance. Don't know if I really want to upgrade to a new one yet. I may drive it until the doors fall off.
I love my XC60 but sure, there are some things I'd change; 1) the 360 camera; wish there was a way to default to it when I'm parking- like a quick button 2) with all that screen, let me pick 1,2,3 for my seat/wheel heating/cooling 3) Subaru allow the Lane keep assist to remain active when I hit the brakes. I can't seem to do that here.. 4) Google maps should show on me drivers display 5) overall, some refining of the center screen interface is needed. The 3 panes force me to navigate away from my maps to answer a call- the list is pretty long for this one There is more but you got me thinking. Thanks for the video
I don't know about others but personally i prefer the classic interior layout with physical buttons to control stuff not these smartphones on wheels.... somehow for me it breaks the immersion and looks too
The touchscreen was one of the reasons we didn't buy one. I wanted physical controls for heating/cooling/seat warmers. Too dangerous to have to look at the screen. The other reason was I hated the seats. Not comfortable at all. Ended up buying an X3 - get it in March.
Completely agree! I need to control stuff without having to look at the controls. I just have to know where a button/knob is, feel it with my fingers and use it without looking. The future is voice control, not touchscreens that make you take your eyes off the road and slow down.
Use your indeksfinger and thumb ehen you are retrackting the sunroof, use the thumb to pull the lever down. I had the same problem when i first got my xc90
as far as I can see, not a single word about what it's like to drive, ride comfort etc., which most of us are more interested in than the tech, which many reviewers seem obsessed with
I bought a XC60 Inscription about 3 months ago and I absolutely love it. I have to say though, I don’t have the same level of problems with the cargo cover that the presenter did but it can be finicky.
Volvo, Acura and some lexus models are the only luxury brands you can still use regular petrol rather than premium. Although, highly recommended you alternate premium every other fillup in luxury vehicles, so it keeps the engine running smoothly.
Only annoying thing i've found is that the aircon fan is very noisy if you want to use aircon in the rear passenger seats. I'm told that's because it's a single fan system. That and you can't connect Apple car play via bluetooth.
I have had my T4 Momentum Diesel for 6 months. Great car, however I didn't buy it for fuel economy but try getting anywhere near the stated MPG! I cant get within 10 mpg that is stated in the manual. Pretty disappointing after owning a 3 series BMW that got pretty close to the stated MPG. Like I said I didn't buy it for economy, I bought it for comfort (owing to a back problem) but it reminds me of a 2011 Avensis diesel which again never got anywhere near stated mpg figures. Overall though the car is lovely to drive with light steering and clutch and fantastic seating position. Easy access, Brilliant sat nav and updates. It even tells me the speed limit in my Works Carpark! Bought it after seeing your videos. Thank you Mat and Carwow.
Yes! I agree - 2 things that p*** me off - the Sunroof controls & the Rear Parcel Tray. What about the in car Vodafone internet though? It can never connect! I can have 3 people with 3 phones on full signal but it still won't connect - useless. You should use the auto park - it's great
At least when set to Swedish the voice control is very good. It can turn on heated seats, heated steering wheel, set the temperature and can start navigation really quickly and easily.
I have a 2009 Volvo xc60 t6. Many of the features you talked about here are present but I do like some of the other ones like heated steering wheel and parking 360° Camera.
I've had the XC60 D5 R-Design Pro for a few months now, and I absolutely love it. The "Park In" feature for parallel parking however is absolutely rubbish. I used it on the first day, and the car backed itself onto the kerb and damaged the alloys!! Also, the pre-conditioning from the app doesn't work, but I just use remote start on a cold and frosty morning which does the trick.
I still dont know what the pre-condition option on the app does...and why does it have a timer for a specific point in the day. It would be nice if we could use this option to set the heat/cool and maybe control the seat warmers
Aslam Ali The timer is used if you leave for work at the same time each day for example. Remote start and pre conditioning both activate the window heating and the seats.
Yeah, totally agree on your points. I've had the v90 for two months now and I have the same issues. Plus, it self drives like some who just got its driving license
I've got the same seats in my V90, I thought that I was the only one always running into trouble with the massage function, good to hear that it's not just me. By the way, I thought that massage would be a totally useless feature when I ordered the car but it turned out to be something that I use almost every time when I drive the car for longer than 20 minutes. My next car will definitely have massage seats again!
the Volvo XC60 is acording to me the best looking suv, which means that it looks ok ish in my eyes, but i'm not in the right demographic for this car since i hate suvs. but props to Volvo for making a suv that i wouldn't feel ashamed to drive which is nice. other than the looks, it is a volvo which is my favorite brand of cars of all times. and you can never go wrong with a volvo
I love the Volvo XC60 and I think the premium bowers and wilkins sound system think is perfect. Engines are good exept for the double fly wheel and If chosen for hybride (Dont do that) prepare for turbo and climate compressor failures. I Would love to own a XC60 any day of the week!
Just came from a test ride for the Volvo XC60. While the car and interior looks beautiful and premium. The infotainment and the ride quality from an Audi is miles ahead. Things like air suspension, engine, cabin noise and just overall power delivery of the drivetrain is so much better on an Audi.
Real time mapping is only available if connected to internet via internal modem (using you own sim card) or external internet access, otherwise it only occurs every couple of hours via volvo's modem hence it showing congestion when its now clear.
We had the same issue with the search button and we called Volvo and they said that you can easily swipe over the screen so you don’t have to kick it while driving.
You’re quite funny Mat 😂. ... this American even was able to interpret your British adjectives. Was almost going to purchase the Audi Q5 Prestige ... BUT ... purchased the top of the line Volvo Inscription T8 plug in hybrid for two reasons ... COMFORT and more importantly here in California, the Volvo hybrid get you HOV Lane access which is paramount importance. 😉
I would say X3 is cheaper to buy and better maintenance is the same but if want use main dealers (sealers..) then Audi are better for fixed pricing of longer term maintenance but you pays your money and takes your choices but I got my X3 F25 LCI and I am happy with it 🙃 mostly but never forget to maintain the gearbox, diffs and transfer box.
I agree about using waze/google maps, the downside is, the bluetooth support which (wonderfully) accepts two devices at the same time (ie: phone for communication, a mp3 or dap player for media at the same time), does not function the same way when the phone is plugged in via a usb cable for android auto. =( when a phone is plugged in for android auto, it disables using bluetooth for media altogether. and to my knowledge there isn't an aux in for the car, which would've been useful for my dap as i have a line out function on the dap.
Tax returns and bonuses coming up I’m trying to decide between the xc60 and the xc90. Both are really good looking and underrated. This video definitely timely for me
The sunroof closing slowly ist perhaps a security feature for children which cant let their fingers off anything moving in a car. Volvos Mission is to prevent anybody ever getting harmed (badly) in or with an accident with a new Volvo. Its closing slowly, yes. But its closing safe for our all childrens Fingers. And I like it
The gloves feature which lead to kinda chunky buttons and a glove-friendly touchscreen ist also nice. Its a nobrainer. Its a car from sweden where its often super cold so its kinda useful
Surprised you like the interior, I thought it looked awful and touch screens are so difficult to operate whilst driving. For me the Peugeot 3008 suv has the most impressive interior. I hired a Volvo XC90 and it had the best sound system of any car I’ve been in, truly impressive.
Can you make a separate video on volvo connect app? Show us what we can do with this app, can we just check the status of car or can we do some cool stuff like starting your car or controlling climate control.
I don’t mind the retract of the sunroof screen because at least you don’t have to hold the button until it closes. Now if I had to keep my finger on the button I’d be annoyed.
Clever man. Volvo is number one. You would get stressed if it was faster in a stressfull day :D
Why does it need to be any faster? It doesn't.
How is the reliability of these cars? Have you had any issues? I'm stuck between mazda cx-9 signature, lexus rx350, acura mdx and this one. I just want a reliable car with a few nice touches...

Hi Alex, I am buying the momentum today from Alberta. How's your experience with it after 2 years :)
harsh kumar I just got mine in Ontario a couple of weeks ago. Amazing experience so far, doesn’t fail to amuse on all terms. Curious to know how she does a couple of years down the road though !
@@omarbedair volvo is reliable?
I’ve been looking for one of those precisely! Glad to heer you like it.
I drove a T6 rental, my wife’s rental, and it was so hard to say goodbye 😭

I believe that despite all the minor issues it has, the XC60 is a fantastic vehicle.
There was an earthquake during filming?
@Yoda I think the cameraman sam has been drinking lately
Longest earthquake ever recorded.
Yes some little issues, but the car is so sophisticated you overlook the, on a long run up to 50.5 mpg, the load cover is a bit of a flaf but take your time and it's not a problem. Now just up to 12 months old, and love it.Very proud to be driving in it.

Good choise!
Is the ``slow sunroof`` really and issue? Really?
Ja kob no he just had no other real issues. my parents have a xc60 and i really like the sunroof
if the '' slow sunroof'' is worth a complaint, in my opinion, only shows how good the car actually is.
Also needs to have some complains so the review seems unbiased
is your cameraman okay?

not after making that mark on the dash trim.... :)

I never thought a video on cars would have me crying with laughter. Thank you for your nitpicky-ness.
Had me laughing all through the video
volvo is bringing its a game and has really been doing amazing
We had the same issue with the search button and we called Volvo and they said that you can easily swipe over the screen so you don’t have to kick it while driving.
#shakecam
:)))
i love the new xc60. the design and comfort are ahead of competition. overall good video thanks Matt
Glad to see you’re kicking the Oneplus!
my dad has it, we are very happy with it
Mat has a One Plus 5 phone? Wow. Respect.
Mat, what’s the maintenance and the running cost compared to Audi Q5 and the BMW X3? Thanks!
Volvo is cheaper to repair at least
This video definitely timely for me
Lewis Lawrence cx90 too big
There's an available matt screen protector by Brotect which stops reflections and is 100% effective against fingerprints. It really is rather good.

Why were you holding the sunroof button until blind was full open, it has a one touch function the same as windows.
Surprised you like the interior, I thought it looked awful and touch screens are so difficult to operate whilst driving. For me the Peugeot 3008 suv has the most impressive interior.
I hired a Volvo XC90 and it had the best sound system of any car I’ve been in, truly impressive.
The bluetooth is crazy. Walked out of the car with music playing, came back one hour later, the music took off where I left off.
It's a great car. Have test driven it a lot, and in the market to buy one in the next few weeks!
Wish CarWoW was in Ireland as we only have Dick Turpin and his merry men! Great video!
XC60 is timeless beauty I believe
One Plus! A great phone!
Can you make a separate video on volvo connect app?
Show us what we can do with this app, can we just check the status of car or can we do some cool stuff like starting your car or controlling climate control.
Volvo have started to appeal to former Saab owners. Lots of comfort and decent kit on Swedish cars- as well as safety.
Great review. Those volvos just make sense. The styling is unique and elegant Love them. good family car i bet.
