Nah, keep legendaries on the main leader board. Just because something has great stats doesn't automatically mean they do well. It also provides a benchmark for non legendary pokemon
The fact that Pidgeot is only 4 minutes slower than Ho-Oh is kinda insane. Route 1 Bird vs Box Art Legendary, you'd expect a much larger time gap, but that just shows that solo runs really can challenge your expectations of a Pokemons performance.
Solo Challenges are such a specific niche, and some Pokémon - like Pidgeot - get a chance to show that they're very capable, even though they might not have the best base stats!
I'm a big fan of letting the legendaries on the main leaderboard. If Pidgeot were to finish 9th when it's all say and done, and say 6 legendaries are in front of it.... it almost feels like Pidgeot is EVEN better if that makes sense!
Happy weekend! I totally think we need a complete leaderboard to show all the Pokémon that are part of the generation, but I'm happy with channel consensus. Another great video, thank you so much for the good weekend vibes! (also poor Whitney, I'd cry too in this case lmao)
Ho-oh is simply fabulous! Lugia ranks the same way! Ho-oh is the first in my ranking for the best Pokemon I've ever trained, alongside Mewtwo! In the battle tower, Mewto and Ho-oh and Lugia is the unbeatable team!
Awesome run!! Ho-oh to this day is my favorite Legendary, and I think you should keep its place up on the leaderboard. Yes it’s a legendary, but there are legendaries that would struggle, so it’s not a given that they’d claim all the top spots. If they started doing that, then sure, split them off.
Oh gosh that was an amazing run from you! Now, to answer the question, Pokemon are not created equally! I think it's fine if you have Legendary Pokemon mixed in. After all, by your rules, some Pokemon, like Clefable, start off really weak because they have to evolve. Some Pokemon, like Beedrill, also finish really weak. But then some, like Girafarig, are single-stage Pokemon seemingly made to just clear the game. As a viewer, I expect the best Pokemon to be on the top, and it makes sense that legendary Pokemon with ridiculously high stats would be high up on there. If you wanted to be totally fair, you'd have one leaderboard for Pokemon that have to evolve in the run (e.g. Spearow->Fearow) and a separate leaderboard for Pokemon that don't evolve in the run (e.g. Scyther only, Girafarig only, etc.). But I don't think this is something you'd want to suddenly do, as you already have a perfectly fine leaderboard with single-stage, two-stage, and three-stage lines mixed in.
I think you should keep all the legendaries on the same board. As others have pointed out, they won't always get the best times. And it is interesting to see which non-legendary Pokemon can compete with the legendaries.
It has 130 attack, 110 special, guess they wanted Ho-oh to be able to use both it's types effectively, remember, pre-physical/special split, Flying was purely physical, and Fire had better moves
I would like to see the Uber Legendaries and Mythicals on their own tier list, but with a lot of backports from later generations so it’s not just Mewtwo, Lugia, and Ho-Oh. Not all legendaries do that well in solo runs. The birds don’t have great learnsets.
My opinion on the legendaries, as some are defensive heavy, they might not have any inherent advantage. Additionally like some others have said their exp group might let them down. If you want to move them to a different leader board then I'd put them probably on the board with the end of the line series(which you didnt want to do i found out as i commented early), but their times on the main board like the other pokemon will be variable based on learn sets and Stat spreads.
The general consensus seems to be to keep the legendaries on the main leaderboard, and on balance, I reckon that's the right choice. A lot of them will make the top 10, but at the end of the main series, if it's too unbalanced, we can plonk them somewhere else!
I think you should keep legends in the main leaderboard. Afterall more often than not, stab return is better than high bst. Besides, gen 2 doesn't have those many legendaries, so making a separate leaderboard just for those would feel kinda wasted, and it's also very cool to see a normal mon outperform a legendary.
I vote on keeping everyone on the same chart. If one wants to compare legendaries they can just pull up the full chart and look for legendaries in there, plus it's hype to see non-legendaries outranking legendaries.
I feel like legedaries are the standard of "fast" times. Having them sets a benchmark so to speak of what is considered a fantastic non legendary pokemon keep the times on 1 chart is my vote
What I wonder about is Lugia. How close does it come? I think I saw someone else try both and that they were close, but Ho-Oh was better. How would you do?
I've recorded Lugia, and it's a fairly similar result to every other runner, Ho-oh's offensive capabilities mean it's able to get through the game a fair bit quicker than Lugia.
I definitely think legendaries should stay on the main leaderboard. They are balanced in their own way with the slow growth rate. That’s less impactful in crystal than in the gen1 or gen3 games but I still think they deserve to be ranked alongside normal Pokémon.
The software I use to time the challenges doesn't have the ability to change the leaders' names after I've started the timer, and because Jasmine and Pryce are mostly interchangeable, I decided to mix their names up
If you keep the legendaries on the regular board it’s not fair because you can’t tell me Pidgeot wouldn’t make up 4 minutes if it started fully evolved. The legendaries would be better matched against the end of the line leaderboard because everyone is on an equal playing field starting at their strongest form.
A couple of reasons - Phoebe is the closest name I could think of in the Pokémon world that sounds like Phoenix, and it's a hint towards the Emerald series that's starting :)
Nah, keep legendaries on the main leader board. Just because something has great stats doesn't automatically mean they do well. It also provides a benchmark for non legendary pokemon
I agree with this legendary should be counted with the rest of the Pokemon. It's not their fault they have great stats
Plus, you look at legendaries like Moltres in Gen 1 and it’s flat out mediocre. Keep on in the main one to compare.

@@Squidgy exactly! That's why I love to watch these so much. You just never know what's going to happen.
That's fine, you can keep them in the main leaderboard. Most of the time they will be let down with the slow growth rate.

Oh a Ho-Oh run, and he surely will name it PHOE-.. BE
Based as hell
I think it might be fun to have an added "Restricted Leaderboard".
Ho-oh is simply fabulous! Lugia ranks the same way! Ho-oh is the first in my ranking for the best Pokemon I've ever trained, alongside Mewtwo! In the battle tower, Mewto and Ho-oh and Lugia is the unbeatable team!
love you and the content brother. thank you for your hard work and dedication
Do both? Have them compared to normal Pokemon and then compare them to each other.
Squidgy, awesome content keep up the great content
I vote to KEEP all runs on main leader board
Legendaries aren't always the best Pokémon
I don't think celebi will do well though

What an absolute steamroll :D Not healing before the elite 4, such disrespect :) GG!
Meganium is all about the defensive play, and if you play it right, it's a thoroughly good Pokémon!
I think you should keep all the legendaries on the same board. As others have pointed out, they won't always get the best times. And it is interesting to see which non-legendary Pokemon can compete with the legendaries.
I could actually see some of the Legendaries not having the easiest time. Because of their Level Curve, and not the best Level up moves.
Love when you say "Rival is just around the corner."
Today not needed.
Great playthrough
Cool video my favorite legendary Pokémon ever
Great run. I’d say legendaries belong in the main leaderboard as they’re indeed the “best”. At least for this Gen.
Honestly I think they should have their own category
It always confused me why they gave Ho-oh more physical attack than special
It has 130 attack, 110 special, guess they wanted Ho-oh to be able to use both it's types effectively, remember, pre-physical/special split, Flying was purely physical, and Fire had better moves

I say let legends have both their own board & the regular board though having Sacred Fire that early is crazy

Imagine being poor Jasmine with two balls and one big, rock solid snake...
👀
I would also say keep them all together
I agree with what others are saying, keep the legendaries on the same leaderboard

Sadly IMHO Ho oh is crystal is just as good as Moltres is in the Gen 1 games IE it sucks but it still more doable then a Moltres Gen 1 run.
I feel like legedaries are the standard of "fast" times. Having them sets a benchmark so to speak of what is considered a fantastic non legendary pokemon keep the times on 1 chart is my vote
damn ho-oh is a beast
Naming Ho-oh "Phoebe" is nasty work 😂
Can you explain this joke? Is it related to Phoebe from Friends? (I’ve never seen the show, just now the characters’ names 😂)
Slow growth rate balances things out for them
What I wonder about is Lugia.
Here are your starters to choose from, we have a grass one, a water one and A LITERAL GOD.
I should've gone for Chikorita! :D
Keep them on the same board!
I definitely think legendaries should stay on the main leaderboard. They are balanced in their own way with the slow growth rate. That’s less impactful in crystal than in the gen1 or gen3 games but I still think they deserve to be ranked alongside normal Pokémon.
Me: He's gonna hold the charcoal at the beginning and not tell us. 😊
Squidgy: We're holding a berry.
Me: Nope, same berry as usual. 🤣🤣🤣
Also I'd say keep the legendaries on the main leaderboard.
That's weird how Gengar didn't go for Hypnosis on turn 1.
Why is Rockslide an illegal stab move?
@ community post: leave the legendaries on the main leaderboard. Keep the backports on their own leaderboard tho
I think legends should be in main leader board, because there are plenty of legendaries that don’t perform super well
Keep them all together lol
Why is Jasmine and Pryce’s names were all mixed up together in the lower right gym leader time stamp? 😂
The software I use to time the challenges doesn't have the ability to change the leaders' names after I've started the timer, and because Jasmine and Pryce are mostly interchangeable, I decided to mix their names up
Is it better for you to watch this on patreon or youtube?
Sacred fire is great, i was worried about its power points in the early game
RUclips's always better for me - I don't get any passive income from Patreon views!
@@Squidgythanks for the reply and what a run. 😍

Would love to see Slaking back ported with no ability the monkey would wreck the game!
I did Slaking as a stream, but I am planning on a video for it, too: ruclips.net/user/liveOJFh5G_1qJ4
@@Squidgy nice! When I play gen 3 it’s hard for me not use one even with the ability.
Flying really doesn't have that many Good Moves in the early generations
Continue in the same leaderboard
Please do Lugia idk if you have done it yet. Lugia is legit my favorite legendary. Start of the game is a pain though
Lugia's coming out on 10th October :)
What disrespect you showed the E4 lmao, you didn't even heal before starting it.
Make a separate leaderboard for the legendaries :)
Can’t find the poll
The poll will be out on Sunday! I completely forgot that this video would go live early for the HM friends! :D
Why did you name it Phoebe?
A couple of reasons - Phoebe is the closest name I could think of in the Pokémon world that sounds like Phoenix, and it's a hint towards the Emerald series that's starting :)
@@Squidgy oh ok I thought you knew someone name Phoebe who was a ho-oh
Seperate leaderboard.
