Today we are looking at 2 new watch releases from Proxima Watches...
The PX1697-2BN Diver anf the PX1700-2BN Sports watch.
Proxima are among the best when it comes to both quality watches and great customer service and I thoroughly recommend them.
These new watches change things up a bit with what they call ICE FLOWER DIALS.
We would probably call them Frosted Dials but you get the gist.
So are these watches worth you hard earned cash?

I’ve never been a fan of super colorful watches. Probably because I’m just a boring guy. 😅. So I love the watches, but not so much the color and textures. Thanks as always for the honest review!

I would love to see the 1697 w no date and aventurine dial. I have a green fume 1697 and the 1715 and both are fantastic watches. I've even given up complaining about unbranded crown and clasp.
I like the 39mm one towards the end with the angled bezel, but the dial is a bit too busy. I’d like it with a solid color, maybe black lacquer dial.
And you’re right, they gotta change the date font.

Last week i got the green/blue one with the black bezel. It looks great it is much darker than the picture at 10:46. With the adjustable clasp this is now even more complete watch.

Good review John as I was considering both in the recent sale however I think you summed it up pretty well as I think there are other Proxima watches which are better.
I think so. They are good but Proxima have produced some of the best Chinese watches...and these are good but not great!
I was close to pulling the trigger on the sport watch, but the hands look too slender.
And that diver, I’m so torn… really like that dial, looks nice to me!
But then, it’s only 39 mm… even tho I’m wearing my S435.
Decisions, decisions.... haha 😂

A good review as always, John. The sizes are perfect for the smaller wristed amongst us. However the dials are not for me. I'm sure many others will like them.

I've never been a fan of dive watches, but that 1700 looks interesting. I don't know that much about this brand but you have convinced me to take a look at them. Thank you for your excellent productions.

Good review as always thanks 👍..I would recommend 1697 all day long ..I have one in white enamel.. its a great case sits on the wrist perfect..has a low profile very comfortable mine hasn't left my wrist..

I bought the 37mm px1700 in that green but with the fluted bezel in the sale. It's very dressy. I think I'll take it off the bracelet and put it on black leather. My 37mm has quick release on the bracelet as well.
I love the textured dials on these; quite a change from the now ubiquitous waves/dunes, and meteorite textures.
However they should have taken another stab at the print/press before settling on the one to be used on every dial, as there is an annoying gap just above the 8 index that would drive me nuts. And they will all have the exact same pattern.
Also, re the date font - that is one reason I always go for the SW200 movement in these. The default date-wheel font for the Sellita is much nicer than whatever they’re using in the PT5K.

The dial and case look great, the only thing that bothers me (and it might be just my OCD) is the lume mismatch on the dial and hands. I ended up selling my white one because of that.

The original 1679 in black or white are some of the best watches on Ali Express. These new highly coloured ones are a bit ridiculous.
I wouldn't go as far as that bit certainly the black and white enamel dials were something VERY special 🤗
I've a white enamel PX1697, it is rather nice. I can't blame Proxima for making the most of this spectacular case. I've just succumbed to the PX1701, which by all accounts is rather barmy, not sure if it's a dress watch, diver or something else! Will be my mad watch for this summer though.
I don't have a problem with complex dials on dive style watches. What spoils this one for me is the orange segment on the bezel. A white segment would look better. I do wish Proxima would be a bit more adventurous with their bezels on this style case. How about a steel dial for instance, or a 50/50 blue and white split? Proxima is a great brand and I love my white dial 1697. Great review as usual John.
