It’s not just the manufacturers, it’s the dealer. You buy from the dealer ,it is the first phone call you make if a problem pops up. How the dealer reacts to your issue is important. Pick a good reliable dealer who will indeed help with problems. I picked the wrong dealer when I purchased my new outboard. Just my thoughts on this topic.
My 24ft. Tritoon has a 115hp Mercury Pro XS w/Command Thrust. Highly recommend this engine for anyone looking to pull their kids tubing and/or skiing. Great hole shot and top end. The engine is light and sips fuel.
Great video, perfect description thanks for the excellent information! I have a older 20' Crest with a older 30hp Evinrude, we like the idea of the boat being old not to worry about dogs or dumping bait ect. But motor issues make a fun experience turned into a reality bad day to say the least. I was wondering if this boat would handle let's say a 90hp motor? Also do you guys handle such tasks as to repower older boats, trade motors ect?
Bought my current toon with a 300 Verado right before they came out with the 350 and 400. If I was to buy today, it would be a 400 (or twins). If you are on a decent size body of water, go for the biggest HP you can get.
I’m on a hp restricted lake. I’m at 15hp. The lake is about .5 miles by 3 miles. What’s the biggest pontoon I can get that can actually move around with a 15 hp motor?
@@robertsophiea05 NOT REALLY .....I SERVICE MANY SMALL PRIVATE LAKES WITH 15HP LIMITS AND ON A WINDY DAY 15HP ON A 24 FT PONTOON IS A SAILBOAT AND YOU WONT GET FAR UPWIND ...LOL VERY LITTLE CONTROL ON A WINDY DAY I HAVE HAD CUSTOMERS LEAVE THE BOAT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LAKE BECAUSE THEY COULDNT GET BACK AGAINST THE WIND .FORGET DOCKING IF YOU DO MAKE IT BACK.
@@crashalexander7232 he didn't mention navigating any storms. He asked about "moving around" the amount of wind it would take to prevent a pontoon from moving with a 15hp motor would be pretty intense. I compared it to a trolling motor. So my follow up question to you is what has more thrust a 15hp motor or a 80 pound thrust electric trolling motor. I will save you the time a 15hp motor will generate approximately 450 pounds of thrust. Many factors can influence this but not to the extent that it will be less than 80 pounds. But I agree he should avoid tornadoes, hurricanes, swarms of locust, and meteorite impacts.
We are looking at 16 ft sun tracker bass buggy how fast does a 50 hp go? We are not big people and will not be pulling anyone. It will only be 2 to 4 people at any time oh and our fur baby. Our lake is 317 miles. It is called Possum Kingdome Lake in Tx. This is the biggest motor you can have for this size. We do not want to buy a new truck to pull a bigger one. Thank you
Phil can you change out the prop? If so what would you suggest? Ours will be Mercury 50. We have to order the boat there are none here in Texas. Thank you any information you can give us will help this 1st boat owner. I grew up with ski boats. Thanks again Stay Safe
@@jillhoffman3887 Sorry, I don't know a lot about Props. With that said typically the higher end props will give you an extra 2ish mph. Plus they get you to plain a pinch quicker. If its possible to "test drive" that boat and motor I would recommend that, you'll get a better feel/idea of what you like. Just my 2 cents.
They have specs for each length , just ordered a 2021 godfrey 20 ft long , 25 inch logs and biggest motor is a 115 horse so I can’t see a 200 on a 22 .... more like 25 ft will hold horse power
PONTOON OR TRI TOON? PONTOON YES ....TRITOON NO...WE HAVE MANY 22-23 TRITOONS RUNNING WITH 150 -200 OPTIMAX MERCS 38-45 MPH.OUR 24-27 TRITOONS RUN 250 -300 50 MPH IN SOME CASES

How fast can you go with it?
Yes, that part?
Tommy Gordon Jr with 4 people on board I top out at 30-34mph

Always max out the HP rating for the boat. It will never disappoint you.
Hello sir I'm looking for a 25 ft boat with a 250 to 300 engine how many hrs should I look for on a used boat

“What size motor you looking for?”
“About $1,500 worth”
“Got one for you right here”
Yamaha 150 is a good round number for all around fun and getting from point A - B.

A 15 will move whatever you need. Think of it this way. An electric trolling motor is not even close to as powerful as a 15hp outboard.

Jill Hoffman rule of thumb for every 10 hp it’s 3 miles an hour. So a 50 hp will top out at 15-16 miles an hour.
