New boat owner here, and this is the easiest and best video on this topic on RUclips! Thanks
Welcome, Tito! Thanks so much for watching, and we're thrilled you found the video helpful. If you haven't already, please subscribe so you don't miss any new boating vids coming up. We're ramping up production for the season, so we should have more coming soon!
Just applied this to our new boat yesterday. Haven't been on the water since the mid 80's and we didn't have power tilt & trim on the old boat. We're doing the 10 hr break in still. What a difference trimmimg makes, still getting the hang of it. Your video is perfect for people just starting out!!
Thanks!
This really made it easy to understand for a newbie. I appreciate the time you took to explain the sweet spot between staying flat and the bow bouncing too much.
Watched several videos on this topic, this was by far the easiest to understand and best explained.
Glad you found it helpful, Ray! Thanks so much for watching
Just getting into boating and this is by far the most straightforward video on getting the trim where it needs to be and why. I'm sure there's some more advanced stuff to it, but I feel like I got the basics from this.
Thanks so much for the feedback, k0pper! Here's to a fun - and safe - boating season.
Short, sweet and straight to the point. I'm a newer boater and this helped me tremendously
Thanks for watching, Darrin! Glad you found it helpful. If you haven't already, make sure you subscribe to our channel. We just shot a follow-up video to this on the difference between tilt and trim, which you might also find helpful. It should be coming out in the next couple months.
Perfect refresher for someone like me that has been off the water for decades. I loved the various camera angles to demonstrate what you were describing. Good job!
Thanks so much, Steel! Glad you found it helpful. Hope you are enjoying getting back on the water. Thanks for watching!!
Your's is the best explanation of boat trim that I have ever seen. Great explanation and a good video.
Thanks so much, Nick! We appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
Thanks! Makes loads of sense. In my Dad's old Evinrude outboard days, the trim was adjusted by sliding a pin out of a hole on the mounting plate and sliding into another to change the engine angle.
I was on a speed party boat off Wildwood NJ one year, and the pilot maxed out negative trim for about twenty seconds, and man did we all get soaked! Then he went slightly positive, and we got some sweet air time!
You're very welcome, and thanks for watching! Good thing trim is a whole lot easier with modern outboards.
Thanks! I keep coming back to this video
once per season...Its like a “refresher course” lol.
It's a really useful one. Glad you're finding it helpful!
bought my 1st boat last month. I have 0 boating experience. I only have a 50hp motor....but your videos are invaluable and have helped me greatly to know what to expect and what to do. Ive watched several of your videos, and they were all well explained and simplified for a novice like me.
Thanks.
Excellent video! Ive had a tiller all my life til now. Just got a boat with a steering column and this is very helpful!
Glad you found it helpful, WAFish! Congrats on the new boat. Here's to many safe and fun miles under her hull!
After watching 20 videos trying to teach how to plane, this one finally nailed it for me. Thank you.
Woohoo, Freddy! Thanks for the great feedback. We're thrilled to be able to help. Be sure to subscribe -- we have a good video coming out in the next month or so on the difference between tilt and trim. Here's to a fun and safe boating season ahead!
This is the best trimming explanation video that I have found. I watched several before I got to this one and finally feel like I don’t need to watch another. Thanks for making the video.
Thanks for watching, Justin! We're glad you found it helpful. Here's to a great boating season.
Just bought my first power boat after years on sail boats. Excellent presentation. Exactly what I'm seeing on the water with my Sea Pro.
Congrats on the new boat, Jake! Glad you found this video helpful. It's an oldie but never goes out of style. Here's to a fun and safe boating season ahead! (And enjoy getting places a little faster.)😄

Thank you for explaining what a trim is, and how to use it from a new boat owner.
You're welcome, Jake. Congrats on the new boat. Here's to many happy (and maintenance-free) miles under your hull!
Clear, simple, and informative. Thank you.
Thanks for watching, Kylie!
Best explanation yet! Talk about trim in reverse, too!
Glad you found it helpful and thanks for the suggestion. We'll add it to our list for future consideration.

Dammit! Thank you, only have right ear bud and I could hear the intro then it went dead. Oh well.
i thought it was jjust me lol

Thank you!
Trimming a boat was always a mystery as to "when" more than "why" to adjust trim.
You're welcome, Michael! Here's hoping this technique makes your boating experience even better! Thanks for watching.
This is the most helpful video to a new boat owner like myself. Thanks very much
Hii u r from I am in Indian give eny vecancy their please I have license
Good clear tuition on the basic technique of trimming the engines
Ive never had a boat with T&T until i bought a bass boat last week & have yet to get it on the water but ,, I Learned alot just from the video......
It feels good to learn something every day. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Teva! Glad you found it helpful. And we share your sentiment about learning!
As a new boat owner, this video was very helpful!
Thanks for watching, Scott, and welcome to the wonderful world of boating!
Important technique - vid should be mandatory for newbies. Also, in rough waves I've had smooth performance trimmed IN against strong wind, but OUT when travelling with wind (following sea condition) to prevent bow from plowing. Allowed safe going in 18-foot bowrider with heavy seas.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience, Entire!
hamer fukk speed
Exactly the information I was looking for - thanks!
We're thrilled to hear you found it helpful, Tomek. Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for this, I mainly use boat in the Solent ( Portsmouth UK ) and due to the southwesterly winds it can change from calm to lumpy in no time at all. I found your video very informative. Looking forward to trying the "trim down" in lumpy seas.
fantastic videos for first time boat owners.
Thanks for watching! Here's to a great first season. If you haven't already, make sure you subscribe to our channel to receive notifications when new videos are posted!

this was very informatory. Thanks for the easy explanation
Thanks for watching, Calicon!
So glad I'm a card member! This video was perfect! I'm a sailor and never used a powerboat trim but this boat explained it perfectly
i deffinatly understand now. i was wondering how i seen other boats level and my grampa got his level and i could never get it level. but now i understand why i wasnt able to get it to plane out. makes it hard to see with it up in the air and a hazard if the wind catches the boat right at a faster speed. thank you big time.
You are so welcome, Brandon! Yes, if you run with the bow too high, it's hard to see, uncomfortable, and very inefficient. After getting some practice, you should be able to hear when your boat is properly trimmed. Make sure to subscribe to our channel if you haven't already because we have a good video coming out in the next few months on the difference between tilt and trim, which you might find useful. Thanks so much for watching!
Very good video for the new boater. Thank you, this was perfect to understand and use that info on my boat.

I look for the props to be parallel to the water by gauging the engine cowling angle, most have a flat spot to indicate this. Trim to keep the prop thrust horizontal for max forward thrust/efficiency. Other stuff matters but this is key
Very informative video thank you
Thanks for watching, Juan!

We have courses in many locations around the country, and hopefully they will be starting up again soon. They are three hours of training in small groups with US Coast Guard-licensed captains using NASBLA-approved curriculum. Here's to a fun and safe season ahead!
