SO TRUE! Thank you for taking the time out to share. Healthy hair is the most important, not the texture of the hair. It is true that looser hair type tends to be a little more manageable; mainly because the hair isn't as tight for the most part. Most curly hair has different textures. The front of my hair is much easier to maintain, whereas the hair in the back is more tight, so it takes a little more patience and time.

yes healthy hair is always the goal. And yes looser hair generally is easier to manage

I actually appreciated learning what my hair type is so that I was better able to choose the right products. It shouldn’t have anything to do with slavery or judging individuals. It’s simply helpful to know how to care for your own hair.

I think hair typing can be helpful as a PART of the shorthand we use to talk about hair in order to better care for it. I'm going to use different hair products and strategies to care for my 3c-4a hair than someone who has 1a hair. Hair typing should NEVER be a value statement regarding hair. Personally, for me, the kinkier the hair, the easier for me to style and care for as that's what I grew up learning about.
But I also have fine, highly porous strands. So that also dictates what kinds of products and methods I use one my hair.

yes i 100% agree with this. I also have fine strands which makes it harder for me to care for. I'm only learning this now

Hair typing matters insofar that it helps to understand how to manage your hair and what products to use. However, hair texture doesn’t dictate the health of the strands. And their are other factors as well. Like my hair is a looser type 3 texture but very very dry. Like if I oil my scalp, you can watch my scalp suck up the oil and moments later you wouldn’t even know I used any oil at all. So no matter the texture the level of dryness needs to be addressed. I have to take care of my hair the way someone with type 4c hair does because you have to be gentle with desert dry hair no matter the texture. Just my 2 cents in the matter. Very nice video!
Edit: I’m not implying that type 4 hair is anywhere near as dry as mine or that there is inherently something wrong with any hair type. Just pointing out the fact that people with tighter coils tend to be more gentle and I find myself in that same category due to dryness. And it’s no matter how many vitamins I take or how much water I drink.

Thanks for your response. I would agree hair type doesn't dictate health .
