I believe the main reason we adore him is that this portrait of his personality is all over the pitch as well. The goals and plays he does is all about the confidence and personality. Zlatan wasn't the child of refugees from the war in Yugoslavia. He was born 1981, a full decade before the war began. His parents were immigrant workers.
Genuine football fans appreciate Zlatan for what he is, a true athlete and a remarkable talent, unlike any we've seen before. His goals are almost always spectacular. He's certainly the last of this generation of hard, proper footballers with bags of skills. I can see him playing for another 10 years.
Correction: Zlatan is not war refugee. He's born in Sweden in 1981 and he never lived in former Yugoslavia afterwards. He's mother is Croatian and his father is a Bosnian who came to Sweden in search for a work in the 1970's.
