  • I mentioned in the DVL-1 vs Metro-Plex clip that I did reference the old JTM 45/100 while tweaking the '65 mode on the DVL-1. Here you can hear those tones A/B'ed.
The red light on the amp switcher indicates the 45/100, green is the DVL-1.
They are not identical, but the vibe is there. The KT66 loaded 45/100 is more scooped in the mids and softer in the attack. While the EL34 loaded DVL-1 has more mids and attack.
The 45/100 is a block end amp from 1966. Loaded with NOS Mullard 12AX7 preamp tubes and GEC KT66's.
A dose of Bricasti reverb puts these clean tones over the top.

Like all your work... very tasteful and rich musical overtones jumping out everywhere without making the notes becoming muddy. Brilliant.

Considering the fact that you have old glass in the '66, and they use different output tubes, sounds pretty damn close to me!
    Well done Sir!

A few times the sounded exactly the same. Overall, they are very close and both sounded great.

Wow , the difference is ever so small in contrast, I'd say the 45/100 is a tad creamier, not as bright, seems like same response, but slightly different timber

The DVL is like a tighter version. Cool

I didn't read which was which and was listening all the way through but I was favoring the green more often especially when you hit it harder. I was thinking it just had something special. I was actually thinking the green was the JTM 45/100 because it seemed brighter but I was wrong I guess. Very interesting. Might have to get me a DVL 1. Hmmm I wouldn't change a thing George. I was trying to decide between the Metroplex and the DVL-1 but I think the DVL might be the winner since it's even more of the evolution of it. More versatile. I did think the Metroplex had a tiny bit more mideange which I do like but the DVL has more to offer in variety so I get it. So close i think the variety wins me over.

Which pickups were in the guitar at this time, the Throbak DT-102 or SLE-101 set? Thank you.

George, Can somebody purchase the Metroplex in a 50 watt version, that is identical to the 100 watt version, other than the wattage being different? Asking, since I am seriously considering buying an amp from you, in the next few months, and 100 watts is way overkill for me. A 50 watt version would be ideal for me.

Yes. He's playing both amplifiers back and forth using the amp switcher. The red light on the amp switcher indicates the 45/100, green is the DVL-1.
