My gynecologist told me to abstain from soy products to lower my risk of breast cancer.
My identical twin sister got breast cancer and she ate soy products on a frequent basis prior to her diagnosis.

I love Dr Funk for all the knowledge she shares on Breast Cancer. I’ve always questioned my consumption of Soy (I am plant based) so she clarified a lot and left me reassured that it is OK. However at the end I was disappointed to see that it was partially funded by Soy board . See last frame. Urrrrr….always have to question and look at who’s funding the research. Now I’m back to questioning the supported research. Geeeezzzz.

I’m in the exact same boat as you! So much mixed research on this. I saw the partial funding note and in came the doubt 😢

Was your sister eating organic soy products or GMO soy products that also was probably sprayed with glyphosate and sprayed with pesticides🤷‍♀️ those things are known to give you cancer it might not have been the soy.

@@yoa702 when we hear good or bad about Soy , no one is discussing whether the Soy is organic or GMO .If the soy is not organic, it has been sprayed with glyphosate and pesticides and modified and all these things cause cancer we know that🤷‍♀️

My understanding is all soy products should be organic non gmo and only in soy milk, tofu, soybeans and temph period.

One thing about our today's Soy, is the insecticide sprayed on it in the fields is cancer causing , we haven't got our total act together.
We humans seem to do self destructing procedures to ourselves. So be cautious consuming Soy freely.

I have been around long enough to watch the introduction of soy products to North America & then the dairy industry fight with all their wealth & determination to bad-mouth it. To some extent they have, over the past 50 years, succeeded in some ways & failed in others - although I think most people are told soy is ‘bad’ for you by ‘experts’ reiterating the propaganda that they’ve been pounded with for decades. There is lots & lots & lots of science to prove that soy is not only a good food but is included as a cancer preventative. Do bit of research. I am 77 year old woman & have eaten soy products daily for past 50 years. So far, no cancer AND I see almost all of my women friends dealing with thyroid issues - almost everyone I know is on thyroid meds & have been for years. My thyroid is normal. I am exceptionally healthy & I credit my soy consumption as important contribution to that status.

Dietitian here - yes most doctors unfortunately do not know much about nutrition. But Dr Funk does! Hope you’ll listen to her segment here and in other areas.

There is a 5000+ patient study of breast cancer survivors from Shanghai (if memory serves me). This showed women consuming 10g or more soy a day had around 23% lower risk of dying from breast cancer in 5year follow up. Your oncologist should be willing to follow the evidence.

Soy supplements are different from eating soy based foods - like soy milk, tofu, natto and tempeh. Supplements are highly concentrated and also not regulated enough so most probably best to stick to food.
