I appreciate the video because playing on keyboard has been super helpful for my hand pain so I've been looking into getting a hitbox. Love your content.
That's not a proprietary cable, it's a GX12 5pin to USB cable. You can buy those online, or replacement parts to fix the one you have, if you're proficient or comfortable with soldering.
highly reccomend going for the standard hitbox. comfortable, good build quality and fairly portable. my friend got the snackbox micro and suffered from constant disconnects, which seems to be a fairly common issue. he sent it in for repairs but the problem persisted. been using the hitbox for a year and a half with no issues to speak of aside from some glue on the cable housing coming loose, but a quick reapplication inside fixed this issue no problem. definitely reccomend later upgrading it with crown microswitch buttons, as they feel much better than the stock sanwas, but it's a reliable and good controller with nothing to complain about and well worth being a consideration for those looking into stickless controllers
the issue persisted even after sending it in and changing the port to usb c. although it seems like it only happens while on the playstation and not something thay affects pc?
If you're looking to get into hitboxes build your own! $400 for a controller?! pcb is $100 and buttons ran me about $75. It's also way more fun when it comes to customization. Great vid!
The Mpress has the big buttons but they are closer to each other compared to all the other leverless controllers. The palm-rest is fantastic and my hands never tire from playing. I ended up buying 2 Mpresses because it's so comfortable and superior to joysticks. Photos don't do it justice. The Mpress quality is extremely high quality and sturdy! I got the Evo Gold trace full RGB LED version.
I mostly agree with you, though I sometimes have to adjust the screws on mine because one of my buttons will become stuck down. I feel like the way they partially press the buttons with the case is very unscientific and prone to error. It does give incredibly fast response times though.
@@WarpedByTheNHK i’ve never had that issue. I saw reviews that if you take the mpress apart and you put it back, it’s real hard to line it up perfectly again and if you fasten one of the screws more than the others unknowingly, it can work as a pry and the buttons can get stuck like what you described.
I dont think you're switching to Hitbox because it's more joy than a Fightstick, You want to switch to Hitbox because it gives you advantage over regular fightsticks am I wrong?
@@eightinnn I'm talking about the experience. And being Tournament legal means nothing, when many players have complaint about it. I've watch many videos of profecional players complaining.
@@Pichoniix I have ganglion cysts in my wrists. Using a Hitbox is a lot less taxing on my wrists than using a fightstick. Especially for games like Tekken where movement is super important. Playing Tekken for an hour on stick kills my wrist. But I can play on hitbox for hours with no pain.
I used to use a mini fight stick. it's as small as a micro except it's a normal stick. A good solution to the small frame is to put it on a dictionary or textbook. It adds more surface area to the bottom so it will rest on your lap better
I also have most of these, and I'll say the MPress has the added bonus of having a CRAZY short throw on their buttons. You almost have to get used to having such a short throw distance, but man it's nice once you spend some time with it. If you're over 6 feet tall and want to play long seshes, the SBM might not be the play unless you go for the xl version.
@@imohbaluthe extra buttons don't do much, and they're not tournament legal. If you intend on showing up to a local, expect to get some shit from people if you've got more than 12 buttons on that thing (that you use while playing)
Thanks for the info Andy! Currently I have the Victrix Pre-ordered. As someone who have tried playing on a hitbox (I dont own one), I've always wanted to get one for a while now. I prefer the button based inputs for more precision than a lever which I've used for years, so I was really sniping the victrix as my first hitbox. The Victrix already have been reviewed by a bunch of people and it's definitely top of the line, but like Andy said the price is pretty absurd for a stick and it just comes with regular sanwa buttons. Here are the main reasons why I purchased it. 1. The brushed metal finish - This is the number one reason, because I have sweaty hands. I currently own 2 sticks, The Dragon and Madcatz TES+. Since it's a glossy finish, everytime i finish a match (or during one) my stick gets all wet because of some of my hand sweat. I have to wipe my stick with a cloth everytime I finish a game. Brushed metal finish was something I was looking for in a stick and only Hori Fighting Edge had this type of design on their stick. The brushed metal keeps the surface cold and helps if your hands are sweaty like me. 2. The Look - I mean it looks pretty cool to me, that's primarily why I was looking to get one of these as well (extremely subjective I know). 3. Future proof - Currently this stick is compatible with PS5, so If you own a PS5 this stick will last you till the end of it's life cycle. I play on PC anyways so this feature doesn't really matter to me, but worth mentioning if you're playing on next gen console. 3. Trusted Reviews - A lot of prolific people in the FGC already reviewed this stick, most of them love it. If you look up in YT there will be a lot of reviews from people who purchased the stick and reviewed it regarding the build quality and everyone seems to be pleased with their purchase. Like Andy said though, this stick is pretty expensive. So if you aren't sure with yourself and do not have the means to invest this kind of money on a stick, just look elsewhere. A hitbox is the best alternative. Lastly, at the time of writing this, you have to join a waitlist in order to be eligible to buy it. It says on the site it'll come on Nov 2022, but who knows tbh when you'll receive it.

one that i havent seen people talk about are the other sticks junkfood arcades makes a buttons only controller called the snackbox v2, and it is a good option because it is the only type that has 30 mm attack buttons, I have yet to this on other controllers. Probably my biggest problem with the OG Hitbox is that there's no L3 and R3 buttons, and I really miss them for recording and playback in training mode. I'm planning to upgrade the PCB to a Brook UFB, but I'll also need to drill two new holes in the aluminum case for the buttons that's pretty scary because I'm no handyman by any means. The plug for the USB cable is also a pain in the ass. I'm still searching for the easiest solution that keeps the cable and doesn't need soldering.
