- Welcome to our Lance 650 Truck Camper Walkthrough Tour! Here we not only hope to show you this cool slide-in camper, but to show you how we've made it our own as well. Anybody can look at a photo of an interior or exterior floor plan online, but what if two (possibly?) funny people showed you everything up close and personal? From the fact that it fits into the back of a pickup truck, takes up just one parking spot, can be loaded or unloaded in 15 minutes and you can take a massive poop in total privacy (screw you mosquitoes!), the 650 from @LanceCamperMFG is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. Even if you aren't familiar with these cabovers, give our overview a watch. It has ultimately made it possible for us to bring our beloved Yorkie Zeus on our epic road trips. Our camper was manufactured in 2021 and we bought it from Kramer’s Kampers in Zion, IL, a great RV dealer with whom we had a great experience.

Come take a tour with us to see the newest addition for our truck camper adventures. Make sure to stick around until the end for our first ever bloopers section. Greyhound is weird; Magellan, weirder.
RUclips is being weird so I'll leave my comment here . Thanks for a fantastic tour ! Been eye balling the 650. You have proved a way better tour then anyone. I don't think its weird you don't have the TV. You need to be plugged in to shore power right ? Any chance on adding solar in the future or just the generator? As long as I could run the AC I'm happy! I'd definitely like to ditch the microwave tho. And seeing you cram in that spot in the bedroom makes me thing it's a missed opportunity for shelf storage !!
@@suedefringe Thank you! We are loving it so far. Yes, you need to be plugged in for real power, but between the DC battery and propane, it’s working out in between driving to campgrounds. And yes, we have a 100 watt solar panel for the DC battery. Totally with you on the shelves! We are going to put some there, plus the cabinets. They are too unwieldy. Space is a premium and while we don’t need much, we do need to be organized
omg you two are a crack up. loved the video. one of the better camper tours ive seen. i like the way you go "room" by room and describe each section and accessories separately. like bathroom. bedroom. ventilation, lights, etc. very well done!!
Thank you! 😁 it was definitely a labor of love to make and we wanted to be thorough
First time viewer here. Loved the video guys. We have a 2018 model Lance 650 (doesn't look like much has changed) and we love it. The only complaint I have about it is that we don't get to use it enough, lol. We sleep four people in our camper. My oldest son is 6' 230lbs sleeps on the dinette bed and our youngest son is 40lbs soaking wet sleeps with my wife and I in the queen bed. The only modification I have made is a counter top cover for the two burner cooktop for more counter space. We do all of our cooking outside. Happy adventuring!
Awesome! Can’t imagine four people, but it really does feel large for us from what we were sleeping out of before. Still boggles my mind that it sits in a pickup truck. I suspect we might make some modifications as well to fit our needs. I know what you mean that about not using it enough! I’ll do random stuff inside it for no reason in our driveway just because! Happy adventuring to you too!
Thanks for the tour! What a great camper!
Thanks for watching! 🙏 we are loving it so far!
I loved your tour and set up. Very thorough job and entertaining to boot!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. We tried to infuse some humor 😁
Lance needs to pay you for the best Lance 650 tour I have ever seen. Dang, I just converted by chevy into a hotel and now I jealous of your 650. Good thing I can't afford it. You two are talented in so many ways.
Haha thank you. And I remember you said you were converting it a few months ago? How did it turn out?! If you want, shoot us some photos. Our email is on our about page. Truck bed camping is still the best option I think for all around travel. We decided that we could no longer travel on long trips without our dog, and that we finally needed to start driving to the western United States. But for shorter trips, not hauling this thing around lol
I understand, but thats an expensive _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
@@stephenrankin8916 no joke! The timing wasn’t ideal either, because we said, okay, no more unplanned expenses for a long long time. Then our roof leaked, basement flooded, water heater broke, main waterline pipe burst, broke my glasses. Stressful isn’t a good enough word, but we had hot showers in the driveway 🤣🤣🤣
I have been eyeing this truck camper, thank you for making such a thorough and well-informed video!
You’re welcome. We’re first time buyers so we wanted to give people our thoughts! Glad it helped!
What a cutie your dog guys!!!Great presentation…you have everything you need with endless options and choices! Everything is so well organised ❤️
Thank you! We are very glad to be able to bring him now !
This is the cutest and funniest RV review/walkthrough! Most importantly, it’s very informative
Thank you! We usually don’t make these kinds of videos, but it was very fun to make. I’m glad you found it informative - that was the real goal
Great job best video I’ve seen on truck campers. Congratulations on the new setup it’s beautiful.
Thank you! It was a fun video to make for us 😄
Great video. You guys are hysterical and Zeus is ADORABLE!
Thank you! He is an absolute treat.
Super vid. Very thorough. Congrats to both of you!!
Thank you! 😁
Great video,thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Love everything about your truck camper. My 6 month old kitten's name is Zeus. When you would say your doggie's name, my kitty would look at the monitor. LOL Thank you for sharing your new home with us. Take care.
Thank you! And too funny. Besides his name, there’s certain common words he pipes up to that we have to remember to spell out instead or he goes nuts. Animals are fascinating like that. You take care too!
Great setup. As a suggestion to prevent heater failure, put a screen over your heater exhaust cause mud wasps will build their nests in the exhaust tube and all the way into the fan housing. I bought a used popup with same heater design and they had built nests in the tube and fan housing. I had to pull the unit out to remove their nests and it had caused the fan to run really slow causing fumes inside.
Whoa, that sounds terrible. We definitely don't want that to happen! Is there a specific mesh size you suggest?
@@MagellanandGreyhound yea, home depot employee
Shoot i missed this live. Definitely a step up from the truck bed. Looks super nice. You guys are so funny. Really looking forward to meeting you one day. Can’t wait to hear about your adventures and how much better they are going to be now. Super cozy looking.
No worries! A step up in some ways for sure, but not everything. Definitely hard to stealth camp out of this thing! We love Zeus and it was always so heartbreaking to not have him come with us. He wasn't the only reason, but he was probably the final straw. It's going to be nice and finally meet. You are a planner as much as us, so we will definitely let you know.
Love this video. Shared with the wife and inspired to have a truck camper like you! Youre humor is hilarious and is a cherey on top to a great video
@@DCFamily7 thank you again! This one was a fun one to make. Truck camping is a great way to travel. It’s like a mobile home base. You can’t have everything like at home but a lot of times better than just a hotel
Thanks for the tour!
You’re very welcome 😊
Awesome thanks for sharing
Only downfall I have to say, is the shower floor lacks support and can crack. Tip for preventative measures, pop the vent cover off from the exterior shower wall, the one below the kitchen sink. Use a can of spray foam with about a 3ft hose attached. Fish the hose through the vent area towards the back of the shower area. Inject the foam for about 10 seconds, slightly pull the hose out, repeat injection for about ten seconds, so forth until the end of the hose is at the front of the shower.
We did this to our 650 and it removed a lot of flex from the floor.
That is really good to know. I did notice it seemed to have a bit too much play when stepping on it. Have you had it crack before, or know people who did? That seems like a nightmare if it would crack
I have been looking the over, thanks! I think I just found my new camper!
Glad we could help! 😁
Thanks for sharing a review on this camper. I’m looking very much at buying one to use for temporary living until the housing market resets.
You’re welcome. And you ain’t kidding! The level of real estate &$@#%ery right now is crazy. We have to buy some lumber soon. I know it’s gone down, but I’m sure I’ll still cry
I LOVE this couple!
Thank you! 😁
Loved this tour and review my friends! people will glue into it till the end and you nailed it on the audience retention area. The neighbor about the bathroom was hilarious..) You guys are really talented and looking forward to more such beautiful videos. Way to go 😊👍 I forgot to add the bloopers..) There is a pillow on my head.. lol 😂
Thanks Suri! We normally don't talk to the camera or show our personalities much, but we joke all the time and wanted to show that here.
You did a great job of showing Your camper. You were very thorough and if I was shopping for that kind of camper it would’ve been a great help.
Thank you! It was a very fun video to make too. Glad you enjoyed :)
Great Tour!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed :)
Very thorough video, thank u!!

It really is!
What an awesome upgrade love it.

Love humor. Very informative.
Thank you!
Love the camper you guys!!! It is definitely going to be more comfortable and just the fact you can take Zeus is a bonus! You two are too funny, perfect video with our morning cup of coffee! “I’m Hiding” 😂🤣
Thanks! Zeus loves it, mainly I think because he’s with us now. We are not comedians, but we joke ALOT and it’s never really come out in our videos. We are going to try to bring that out more 😁 Also joking aside, I showed how much space is in that area, even if barely escaped 🤣
Great tour.. you two are are funny as hell….
Haha thank you. We are not sure whether we are funny or weird, but it’s been fun making these videos. 😆😆😆
Excellent choice!!
Thank you, we are loving it so far! Do you have or have had a Lance?
@@MagellanandGreyhound I don't have one yet😁
I just finished building a bed similar to what you had. We'll try that out for a season than get a Lance😁
@@philrebekah4286 oh nice! You never know how long that bed will last! We did five years with it before surrendering haha - but the trip we are doing this fall would have utterly broken us. The Lance is to keep us sane for the super long trips. I think we made the right choice
Thanks for being goofy, that makes it fun to watch. Also thanks for being so thorough with your tour. I think I’d really like to have one of these. However, I don’t have an arm and a leg I could sell to pay for it. 😂😂
Appreciate that! We are goofy all the time, but it's hard to translate to this haha. This camper unfortunately has gone up by another 20-25k in price since we bought ours. Our dealer told us we were very lucky. Just crazy
Love it… hilarious too 👍🏻
Thank you! 😆😆😆

Thank you very much!
Just found this and subscribed! I am still sleeping in my truck cap! Envy you lol!
Thank you! There is definitely a lot to like about the camper, but we still have so much love for our truck cap. Some of the most unforgettable memories we had using it!
awesome.. y'all are hilarious and nice.
Thank you Michael, glad you enjoyed it 😁
Absolutely fabulous. Hope your both still planning to get to Ireland and UK.
Thank you! The goal is next year, June or so, with the old man 😉 Hopefully everything is good by then, but it’s long overdue for him.

Hopefully you like it!
Excellent this what am looking for my future.
Awesome, glad to hear it 😁
Zeus is so cute! Camper is nice! Husband is funny
Haha thank you, I will tell Zeus! And Magellan lol. We have been very happy with the camper.
great camper
Yes it is 😁
Really nice set up! Lots of beer! my kind of camper. 😆
We are loving it. It takes its first massive trip in September 😁
I had a Lance 825 my next one will be the 650. I love traveling in a truck camper! Like when I stayed up above the Arctic Circle.
How did you like the 825? And why switching to the 650? We love it too 😁
@@MagellanandGreyhound I loved the 825 I’m going to get the 650 so I can use it on my new truck which is 1/2 ton. They say the 825 can go on a half ton but I don’t know about that.
@@J297WFD oh that makes sense. And no I don’t think an 825 can handle it either haha. But it’s still a Lance.
OMG you are so delightfully weird and I am cracking up 😂
We are glad we made you laugh. We are very well aware of our weirdness and gleefully flaunt it 😂😂😂
Very cool! What a wonderful purchase with some great adventures to follow. Am looking for a truck camper for myself too, but having a Nissan Frontier (small truck) is making it very difficult. Will be looking forward to all the new great expeditions! Enjoy! Bruce and Otis
Thanks! It'll be taking a huge voyage this fall! Nissan Frontiers are small, but maybe there are soft side truck campers that fit the bill?
Look at 4wheel campers or go to?campersmaybe it was go fast campers.they have a framed in box over your truck bed and a popup tent to sleep in.then you can still use it as a truck

Dang it sorry y'all I missed the premier....found myself out working on my tractor hitch and next I knew it was after 9pm. Loved this video! It was nice seeing you both so much on camera 😁
Very thorough review/tour- would love to get one but have no idea where we'd put our 3 rugrats lol.
Your neighbor was right...too bad about the bathroom 😜🤣🙃
Ha no worries man. And thank you! My only gripe is I wish we lived in a not so busy area, because I had to suppress so much background noise. And LOL - our neighbor man - that was not what we were expecting to hear!
@@MagellanandGreyhound for sure 🤣😂
Hey, I do like this video! Better than a dealer version, I did have the biggest toy hauler a T31, not a fifth wheel bumper pull, she kept it in divorce. I don’t need all that ! 13,900 pounds towing.. I also have a 20 foot enclosed trailer for the - toys - bikes and with this truck camper and trailer I should be a lot less of weight.. thanks again for the video you 2 are a good fun- funny.!! I’m on the East coast wanting to head out west 👍✌️✌️
Thanks! Yes, we watched videos of people or dealers showing empty trailers in the lots. We wanted to see them in use. That’s why we did this. You definitely had a big setup! We’re East Coasters too. The West is the undiscovered country!
That dog is a SPY!!!
Thanks for the video walk through. We've been looking at the 650 for a while. I like your swing-out bike mount. What brand is it? I'm exploring ways to expand the storage capability and camping functionality of the 650 with a cargo box, bbq mount, and/or generator mount.
Thank you! We are in the same boat as you, since we are looking to store the generator etc as well. As for the bike mount, it was two brands. These links say they are out of stock now, but it'll give you an idea of what we did. amzn.to/3acssJZ and amzn.to/3x6VW5Y

Hello Guys, just came across your channel, we Love our Lance 851, just retired a few years ago, Just bought a Ram 3500 to haul it. Nice Review, 🤣just Subscribed! 👍🏼🇺🇸
Oh man that looks like a nice one! We were torn over which model to get but since we were upgrading from a truck bed setup, the 650 was already a 1000% upgrade. It’s getting it’s maiden voyage in September for three weeks to really break it in!
@@MagellanandGreyhound Great, Safe Travels to you both, 👍🏼🇺🇸
@@outdoorswithlarryrobin you as well! Never know when you’ll see other people either :)
Great video. I'm looking to buy the 650 this Sunmer. Oh, and....Thank you so much for showing the bathroom size. Almost all truck camper videos I've watched, nobody ever stands inside the bathroom to give a realistic size comparison, you guys did 🙂 awesome.
How is the battery life? Looking to buy the Yeti Goal Zero 3000. Is the battery they provide any good? Solar charging? Thanks again 😎
Thanks! Definitely check inventories beforehand. We bought ours in January 2021 I think, but didn't get it until May 2021. Battery life seems okay, but we've heard that getting a lithium etc would be much better. Solar charging is pretty fast, but again, with just an ok battery, it draws fast too. And hahah, thanks, we strive for accuracy. I remember watching so many walkthroughs of campers in dealer lots - no personal effects, no demonstrations - we made it a point to use the thing a bit before we videoed ourselves with it. We might have some different angles of the bathroom in our other video, but I can't remember haha
Hello Zeus!! I love you!!!
Zeus loves you back! 😁
Great tour of your new camper! I was looking for a quality review of the lance 650 and found it on your channel - thanks 😂 I am buying a preowned 2019 lance 650 private party so I’m doing my homework. It’s going on my 2012 Ram 2500 with 5.7 hemi. Question, I noticed these campers don’t have the cab stops like others. Do you snug the camper all the way forward in the bed of the truck?
Thank you! Congratulations on your imminent purchase! And no, we don’t load it all the way forward. We try to keep about 2-4 inches of space in-between.
Thanks for all the detail! You've sparked a couple of questions for me. How come exhaust fans just pull the air straight up? If exhausted to the side then there could be more room on the roof for solar panels. Also, why not use a lithium ion battery that does not have fumes that need to be exhausted?
Thanks Steven. I'm pretty confused why they didn't just use a lithium ion as well. We're going to be switching out ours with one soon actually. As for the exhaust fans, that's a good question. I know these companies try to squeeze every available inch with something, but having another solar panel with the lithium would be a great upgrade.
Love the vid. Thank you. What sort(s) of truck will the 650 work on? Thx
Thank you! I would go with a 250/2500 series. I believe the Lance 650 was designed with a 150 specifically in mind and other truck brands who had the weight capacity. Lance is now making heavier 650s with even heavier extra options and don’t advertise the 150/1500 trucks as viable options.
Very good moderators
Thank you 😊
Nice camper
Thank you 😁
@@MagellanandGreyhound is there a battery?
@@gggusc11 yes, there was a battery that came with the camper (which is located under the dinette area). We recently upgraded it to a lithium since we boondock a bit.
Nice vid. Only thing holding me from getting one of these doomsday campers is price. By far these and the north lite campers are indestructible.
Thanks! It gave us pause when we were first looking at them, but between the insane prices of everything else, and the fact that we dislike pull-behinds intensely, it was time. The Northern Lite ones are really nice too!
As to the bathroom; it really depends on your definition of massive poop doesn’t it? The TV-interface-connection-thingy appears to be an electronic antenna adjustment and signal amplifier.
Ahahaha, poop is relative and our definition will remain vague! And thanks, we really know nothing about tv. That would make sense considering it’s placement in the camper. Good to know if we ever hook something up!
Really a good tour guys! Thank you! I am considering the same camper myself. I am a boondocking type......would there be a place inside to put three Lithium Batteries and a larger inverter/converter? Is there room under the dinette? Or I would even be willing to sacrifice the clothes closet in the bedroom if I would need to.
Thanks Richard! The space is definitely tight in this one. I suspect that if you were going to hook up three lithium’s and a converter that your best bet space wise would be the closet area and area to the left of it. Everything under the dinette is holding something else (propane tank from outside, your factory battery etc).
@@MagellanandGreyhound Thank you guys!
Lolol I didnt expect to get laugh this much from this video
Haha we didn’t either - glad you enjoyed 😆
@@MagellanandGreyhound A truck with loaded camper is my dream! lovely!
@@user-yk382p53jh I hope you fulfill your dream one day then!
Quick question: Are you able to add any insulation to drown out the ambient noise? When you are in the camper as it is parked in front of your house, I hear cars/street noise but of course I imagine you will be using this camper in quieter settings to sleep? Thanks for the wonderfully informative video and safe travels!
I’m no expert, so I’m not sure, but I have heard of people adding insulation. They tried to make this model as light as possible but in doing so, it doesn’t drown out sound very well. And yes we live on an insanely busy road in New York. You can hear everything. In campgrounds it is pretty quiet though. The only place we had the same noise issues was a truck stop - we don’t recommend that either to sleep, unless you want broken sleep. 😁
Good video guys. You showed things very well. It's nice to see a big company like Lance making a camper for the 1/2 ton pickups. I was surprised to see the frigerator in the bed area. I wonder about drips or spills onto the bed, opening the door if there is a thick comforter and whether or not the compressor cycling on and off through the night might keep a person awake. I guess with a smaller camper there were limited choices for placement of the refrigerator. Couldn't believe Lance cheaped out with a stove that you have to manually light . Come on Lance. I've heard that this model does have a walk-on roof. You guys have no ladder in the back for roof acces. Is that something that is an option ?
Thanks! We generally try not to put things that can spill in the fridge, but we use these retractable rods to prevent stuff from sliding during transit and so nothing falls when we first open the door. There is no compressor in the fridge - it's a coil system cooled via electric or gas. We hear nothing :) Not sure about the walk-on roof, but newer models of this may have them. We saw that the slightly larger Lance campers had ladders. We never had the option.
wonderful video... Lance doesn't need another promotors for their campers...
hahah so true. and thank you! we decided it would be a fun video to make from our usual stuff 😀
How well do the seams hold up on these campers? I like the hardside. Any issues with LEAKS yet? I'd like to find one of these someday! Thanks for the overview.
We’ve only had ours for a little over a year with no issues and we live in a somewhat rainy area. That said, I have heard Lances are prone to leaks. I don’t have enough experience with that yet honestly
Getting ready to buy this camper! Question do you have to remove the tailgate from the truck? Thanks
Awesome! And yes, we definitely remove our tailgate.
I want to see how this truck handles on the road with the Lance 650. What did you add to the suspension from keeping it leveled as best as possible. We are purchasing the Lance 650 to get out on the road.
We heavily upgraded the rear suspension - heavy duty shocks, airlift springs and a sway (stabilizer bar), plus e-rated tires. We can fill/adjust the springs with two valves installed underneath our truck bumper. Other than going over the Mackinac Bridge into the UP on an abnormally windy day, everything has been super smooth and sturdy.
Hey guy's loved your video and your funny too. Just wanted to know if you are driving a 1500 series half ton, and if you beef'up your suspension. Thanks Cheers.
Thank you! It is a 1500 and yes we definitely beefed it up - heavy duty shocks, airlift springs, sway bar, e-rated tires. Truck doesn’t even flinch when we lower the camper on it 😊
Hi! Great review! I've been interested in this camper for a while now. I also wanted to use it with Ram 1500 as well. The payload for the Ram 1500 is roughly 1,900 pounds as well as the wet weight for the camper. Do you have any concerns with going over the payload capacity? Thanks!
We do actually. We installed a new sway bar, heavy duty shocks and springs and pretty much have a Ram that’s maxed out, but the idea is to upgrade to either a 2500 or an F150 with a higher payload. It still rides really nice and sturdy, but Lance is definitely fibbing about the math. In the interim, we’ve been riding it pretty empty (no freshwater in tanks, just using city hookups, dumping before leaving). Great camper, but I’d consider a different truck beforehand.
@@MagellanandGreyhound You're giving them good advice. I have had numerous campers & p/u's over the last 40+ years. One of the biggest "fib's" out there is, "it's 1/2t towable on 5th whl trailers or truck campers. No matter how many add ons you do, its still a 1/2t. I've been there & done that. I recently sold my max rated F150 with all the mod's you described; and purchased a F350. I was within spec's with the F150 but even with all the 'extra's", the frame, brakes, axles and other components were still a 1/2t. The mod's do not increase capacities, they only make the legal load a bit more manageable. Not much cost diff btwn a 3/4t & 1t. ($1700) so i went to the F350 and picked up a lot of extra capacity. I went gas, but if you're going 3/4 diesel you won't gain much or any wt cap over your 1/2t .
@@herb7877 exactly. I know a lot of people online - RUclips, forums, Facebook, whatever - it’s a touchy subject, and I wish we were more keen on it when we were purchasing the camper. We unfortunately don’t live near a CAT scale, but I’m pretty sure we’re right at the limit. While I’m happy we added the mods, which I think we may have done anyway even with a heftier truck, I worry about people whose dealers are fudging the numbers.
@@MagellanandGreyhound I did not use a Cat scale but numerous state and county scales are unmanned and available around here . They still function . I weighed each axel empty and then full and did some arithmetic. I had the 1/2t prior and was okay but close. Going to a 1T is a world of difference. Still think I’ll add air bags again. I really liked them. Safe travels to both of you.
Thanks for sharing, how is the camper holding up? Any issues, roof leaks etc. Thank you
Thanks for watching! So far so good. No leaks, no major issues. Just learning the little tricks - making sure it’s leveled perfect, not overtightening hoses, getting used to how fast the gray tank gets filled, etc.
I'm in the process of buying a 650 Lance. I found a nice 2018 used one in the next state over. I have been looking at several video's to get to know the 650 better as I wait to pick it up later this week. Yours by far is my favorite. You guys are very informative and funny making it a real pleasure to watch and entertaining. We have a Tiffen coach for long and extended trips. I'm buying this one for mainly to use my self to use on short trips recreating around our state, riding and doing water related activities allowing me to go boondocking and fit into smaller more typical campground spots. We have two Yorkie's and a Yellow Lab which the Lab will be my main travel companion. I do have a question, what brand of tie down system do you use? I ordered a Torklift system but it will only work in the front with my 2022 Ford F 150 Tremor which has duel exhaust and factory tow hooks on the back. I'm going to start out using the Happy jack tie down on the sides of the rear bumper but want to use a more substantial mounting point. I noticed your Ram 1500 has duel exhaust so yours might work for me well. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Happy trails
Awesome! And thank you so much. We usually don’t make many videos about our setups, but they were very fun to make. 😁 and yeah, with how much the 650 is going for now, we’d get a used too. I think we lucked out on the timing to be honest. The tie downs we use are the Torklift Fast Gun. We’re not experts by any means so I don’t know if ours would work for you, but I’m pretty sure these are the ones we have. Torklift S9529 Fast Gun Turn Buckle a.co/d/imUW3uy - hopefully that helps!
Also - we have the tie downs going to these kind of hitches (if that’s the word) that the dealer installed. You can see them in the video at times but we never really focused on them. Not sure if that’s an option for you either
I'm gonna have nightmares of that face in the bathroom mirror. Subscribed!
Ahahaha! We are friendly, we promise.
Now that Ford has the PowerBoost/Pro Power built-in generator options, how will/can this integrate with a truck camper?
That’s a great question. I don’t know much about Ford, but I do know that Lance worked with Ford to be used with the 150 in mind.
Very informative review. What model truck is it on? Any modifications to the truck? Thanks
Ram 1500. Installed a sway bar, heavy duty shocks, airlift springs and E rated tires. Rides smooth, but we’ll probably get a bigger truck once this madness ends 🤣
Your dog is so cute! I would like a entry way from cab to truck in a camper.
Thank you! We will tell him that. And yes, it would be really cool if you could enter that way
Is your truck bed a 6'4" bed? If so, did you have to sit the camper back from the front of the bed due to the underside of the rear part of the camper being exposed?
Thank you
I think it's 6'6" - it's definitely not the 8" long bed. I'm not sure I exactly understand your question, but let me at least say this - the camper fits almost exactly from the front of the bed (by the cab) to the back of it with the tailgate removed. We have another video where we you can kind of see how the camper sits in the truck - ruclips.net/video/7_e_oo-u7DA/видео.html - hopefully that could help. If not, just shoot us an email in our About Us page and maybe I can take some pictures to show you.
I've considered getting one of these for my F150. I guess my question is how does your half ton handle it
We beefed up our rear suspension a lot. Lance worked with Ford in designing this specific camper though. My understanding is that certain F150s are pretty much tailor made for the 650 due to the handling, payload capacity etc.
Do you have issues with the bed or bedding material interfering with the refrigerator door while opening it?
We keep our bedding under the cover that came with the camper. It keeps it under and therefore no issues with the fridge. But beyond that - when the bed isn’t made etc - yes it’s a tight fit and sometimes we need to kind of push it down to open the fridge. It’s a minor annoyance at best though
Looks pretty good, I must say, but I have to wonder...isn't a big part of the awnings purpose to cover the door for inclement weather? 🤔
The rear one over the door, thats what we've used it for, absolutely. The side one we have used more to sit underneath and relax when we wanted to dull the sun haha
We have a Lance2013 865. Your gas stove should have an ignitor, mine does. Lance was SOLD to another company. It seems they've made many changes the original company would never do. The Lance campers are overall heavier. The new 865 weighs about 500 lbs dry weight more than mine. Also, we have a back step and we still need an additional step we have to bring with us. Having said all this truck campers are the best way to travel right??
I did not know that! I thought they were trying to make them lighter. We definitely do not have an ignitor 😜 And yes we love the camper. Opened up so many new ways to travel for us !
Thanks for the video! How well did the Ram1500 do with it and what type of gas mileage did you get? Do you still have it and any complaints a couple years later?
I don’t know exact numbers but the gas mileage went down quite a bit! We still have it and use it all the time. We wish it was more spacious - that’s the biggest complaint 😁
can you show opening and shutting the refrig. It looked like the mattress is in the way of the fridge door but that would be crazy.
Shoot us an email at magellanandgreyhound@gmail.com - I just shot a quick 3 sec clip for you that I will send. It isn’t in the way for us, but if you go nuts with blankets/comforters it can be. It’s not ideal by the bed, but we haven’t had an issue.
